For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking this medication for weight loss. My first round of the 4 injections was 2.5 mg, and it had no negative side effects at all. I just had no appetite. I lost 10 lbs within that 4 weeks. I then moved up to the 0.5 mg. The day after taking the first injection, nausea hit like a train. I never threw up but was just nauseous. I called my doctor, and she prescribed medication for the nausea which helped immensely. By the time I took my second injection, the nausea had gone away, and I had lost another 5 lbs. I still have so much more to go and I'm very optimistic. I literally have had no appetite; nothing sounds good or tastes good. I do drink as much water as I can throughout the day. I've had no problems with constipation but as a precaution, I take a couple of stool softeners once a week and I'm good to go. I used to have a sweet tooth, but not now. Great benefits, has tolerable side effects, and is very easy to use."

"I started Mounjaro on July 1, 2022. I just turned 74 and was at the end of my rope with my obesity. I immediately developed a sour stomach/nausea and heartburn. But the wonderful side effect of having no appetite and not obsessing about food EVERY WAKING MOMENT was worth it. I still enjoy food, just eat less than half what I used to and no snacking. I lost 30 pounds in 2 months. I take one more injection (totally painless and easy to give) of 7.5 mg and then move up to 10 mg. My worst problem is terrible constipation. I’m working on it by using Colace, etc. but haven’t solved it completely. Since I’m on Medicare, I am paying THOUSANDS of dollars for this drug. So my savings account is decreasing but so is my weight. If I can afford it, I hope to stay on Mounjaro for one year. I still go to Weight Watchers and live by their eating plan which is very healthy."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Mounjaro on 9/1. This resulted in the very worst month of my life. WEEK ONE - Super Nauseous, indigestion, stomach pain for 3-4 days of the first week. My appetite went from a 10 to a 2 (which was good). WEEK TWO - I had diarrhea for 3-4 days, along with sulfur belches, nausea, stomach pain. I ended up having to take sick days and go get an IV bag to recover from the dehydration. WEEK THREE - World-class nausea and vomiting. 3 days of vomiting so hard that I ruptured my esophagus. The entire month, if I was not having diarrhea, I was VERY constipated. I lost 9 lbs in one month, but I don't know if it was because I could barely eat due to the sickness. PASS!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started at 373 pounds, type 2 diabetic. My blood sugar was under control, I was taking metformin for about a year. My A1c was around a 6. In 2 months' time, I've lost 65 pounds. I started with the 2.5 mg, no side effects, moved to a 5 mg, had the suffer burps that folks are alluding to, but nothing else. I went to the 7.5 mg, then moved to the 10 mg. From about 5 mg on, I had to make myself eat, and like others, I started eating right. My energy levels are up. No vomiting or liver failure, thank God. I'm now currently on the 12.5 mg. Other than no appetite, I seemed to have dodged the side effects. I'd recommend this to anyone, it has done wonders for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Horrible experience taking this drug. I do not recommend taking this medication unless you want to die. I started taking 2.5 mg 6 days ago. Day 2 and 3 had no appetite and ate very little because the thought of food made me sick. Day 4 and 5 developed nausea, severe abdominal pain, and indigestion unrelieved by antacids. I also have lost five lbs because I am unable to eat or drink anything. I do not have any energy or feel like doing anything. Day 6 and I still feel sick. My fasting blood sugar this morning was 224 even though I am not eating or drinking hardly anything at all. It is noon, and I haven’t eaten anything because I’m afraid I will throw up. My heart rate is 120 and normally runs in the eighties. My doctor is out of the office this week for holidays. Just hoping and praying I don’t wind up in the emergency room. I will never inject this toxic stuff into my body again. I also read that it can cause thyroid cancer."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I’ve been taking Mounjaro now for 4 months. I was prescribed it to treat my type 2 diabetes as well as for weight loss. Let me just say this drug has been a miracle! I started out at 268 lbs (5 ft 6 in male), I am now at 225 lbs! Over 40 pounds in 4 months! The only other weight loss program that helped me like this was the military! Now let me just say it’s not all Mounjaro, I’ve changed my eating habits and changed what foods I’m actually eating, and boom, working like a dream. My A1C has also dropped from 7.5% to 5.8%, this drug is an amazing stepping stone to a healthier life. The only side effects I’ve experienced since starting are loss of appetite and constipation, not too bad in my opinion!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I’ve been taking 2.5 ml for 4 weeks and had few side effects apart from zero appetite, a little nausea, and a migraine (think the migraine was due to not eating). Now, week 5, increased to 5 ml and a different story: quite a lot of nausea, diarrhea, headache, and tiredness. Also again, total lack of appetite. Fortunately, these side effects more or less calmed down 2 or 3 days after taking the dose. I’m hoping it’s a temporary thing when you take a new dose - I can live with that."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started on 2.5 for 4 weeks, lost 4.5 kg, forgot to eat, total loss of appetite, felt dizzy, probably because I wasn't drinking enough water. Week 5, went to 5 mg, lost just over 1 kg. Now in week 6, have been constipated, having to take laxative, will finish the 5 mg jab another 2 weeks and see how I feel. Amazing result in never hungry and, as a crisp lover, could never have another packet with all the salt, yuk! Usually have chicken fillets, chips, and bread and butter, just don't want bread at all, can only have two small chicken pieces, nothing else, and only because I know I have to eat something. Went to McDonald's with the grandkids, haven't told anyone I'm on this drug. Kids were happy as Nana couldn't finish her burger and chips. Have started craving fruit, which I never eat, will try and carry on and see if I can be sensible."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started on the 2.5 mg dose; after five weeks (first dose at the doctor's office, then four weeks on home supply); then I switched to the 5 mg dose. Side effects for the time from the initial dose through week two of the 5 mg dose were - weight loss of 4 lbs, decreased appetite (less interest in food and felt full after eating half of my previous consumption). BS levels have remained stable at around 130. Suddenly, after two weeks on the 5 mg dose, I developed acute diarrhea. It has lasted 10 days now. This is tiring and affects what I do and where I'm willing to go. I'm not sure how long I'll endure this before talking with the doctor to discuss potential alternatives."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Mounjaro for 13 weeks. I am currently on the 7.5 mg dose. This medicine has changed my life! My A1C went from 12.9 to 6.5 in 12 weeks. My weight dropped 27 lbs, and my relationship with food has improved 100%. Side effects: slight nausea the day after I increased the dosage, decreased appetite, occasional need for a laxative to combat constipation."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Wonderful. No side effects. Have appetite suppression, which is good for weight loss. However, I do not feel I am starving at all. Have lost 6.8 lbs. in the first two weeks. Taking 2.5 mg. Walking 45 minutes on treadmill early each day and do not really have the desire to eat junk food. Eat well, especially breakfast which was the same I had been doing, but the same after I had heart surgery last year. I am increasing to 5mg. after this week and I will see how it goes. No side effects at all as far as I can tell."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Works well. The appetite suppression and quieting of “food noise” has been very effective. Unfortunately, I just saw my recent labs and discovered that my triglycerides are well over 500! This is very alarming since I do not consume large amounts of butter, fat, etc. Now I’m worried that I may have/get pancreatitis."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "When I weighed 212 lbs at 5’1”, I was facing breast reduction surgery, A1c was over 8, I was on Metformin and on multiple antidepressants. My doctor started me on Mounjaro at increasing doses. Now, just about 8 months later, my A1c is 6, I no longer need Metformin and I currently weigh 135 lbs…I’ve lost a whopping 77 lbs! I feel great! The side effects have been… little to no appetite, nausea for two to three days after injection, constipation… all easily managed. Mounjaro has changed my life, and I would do it all over again!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "My dose at 2.5 mg was tolerable. Minimal side effects. 5 mg more side effects with nausea, sour stomach, gas. 7.5 mg has been a disaster. Heartburn. Headaches, lethargy, tiredness, no appetite, and need to force food on myself. Low blood sugar on CGM Libre2. I can't eat enough to get myself back to 90. I keep pegging 70 because I can't eat and am sick to my stomach all the time. My sleep is interrupted, and I must lie down constantly. I feel like I want to sleep all the time. Weight has dropped from 250 to 233 lbs, but if I can't get out of bed, what's the point? I will talk to my doc about going back to 2.5 mg for the A1C control, but this drug needs work."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I used Mounjaro for 8 months. I went from 210 down to 100. It worked very well for me, almost too well. I have not taken it for over a month, and I am told I need to gain 30 pounds. My doctor took me out of work and sent me to a nutritionist and rehab. I am still losing weight even though I have stopped the medicine. My taste buds and appetite are still not back to normal. If you do take this medication, it does work, but be careful of losing too much."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve been taking it for 10 days. First days, severe indigestion, tiredness, and virtually no appetite. Now, no indigestion, appetite returned, but not as much as before. Which is the goal, right? So far, I’ve dropped five to six pounds, most in the first few days. I weigh myself each Wednesday and Saturday. If the last two days’ weight loss turns out to be routine, I figure to drop about 2 lb. a week."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on the medication for five weeks, started on 2.5 mg and just increased yesterday to 5mg. Typical side effects include hardly eating because of no appetite, but I am not losing weight at all. I lost 2 lbs in five weeks. Started at 200 lbs and in five weeks only lost 2 lbs. Any advice please?"

For Type 2 Diabetes "When I started in June 2023, my BS was 268, after one injection, it went down to 160. I am now on 12.5 mg, and my BS is 120-125. My A1C was 9, 2 months ago, it was 5.9. I have lost 100 pounds. I do feel that the 12.5 mg is not working very well as far as appetite suppression. Easy to use. I have always rotated in the stomach area, last week I did on the top of my thigh. I did not see a difference. No side effects since 5 mg, and then the side effects were not bad. I am not ready to move to 15 mg since that is the end of the line in mg's."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro has given me the best diabetic control in over 40 years. I am taking 7.5 mg, and it has reduced my appetite, meaning I have lost a small amount of weight, about 2 lbs a month. I am currently 3 lbs above the normal weight range for my height. Even with these amazing results, I still have to struggle to get my prescription. I have to email a request every 4 weeks to my surgery, as they refuse to put it on my repeat medication list. Other surgeries in the area give their diabetic patients the medication on repeat, so I am unsure why my surgery makes life so difficult."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My A1C and glucose levels are great. I am not on insulin. Side effects are rotten. Nausea, GERD, constipation/diarrhea, headache, stomach pain, decreased appetite every shot lessens over the week. Had this with Ozempic and Trulicity too, but not as severe. I have seen no weight loss benefit despite a decent diet and moderate exercise 3-5 times per week. Other side effects I’m not sure are related: feeling of lump in throat, slight face rash, occasional blurred vision, tingling in hands."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on Mounjaro 2.5 mg in January to get my A1C down, which was right at 8. I'm 61, and Metformin was horrible. I haven't had any side effects except for a decreased appetite. I don't overeat, and I really have to be really hungry to eat. I also get thirsty, but I love water, so being thirsty is no problem. At my three-month check, my A1C was 6.8, and all others were also good. Now moving up to 5 mg. I lost 18 pounds in 3 months, and I want to lose 22 more. Overall, so far, I have nothing but good things to say."

On day 3, significant reduction in changes on my belly fat was noticed. It is very costly, I paid R970 at Dischem. Medical aid doesn't cover it."
