For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Mounjaro 2.5 mg on September 6th, weighing in at 128 kilos. I'm now on my 7th shot of 10 mg (as I stayed on 10 mg for another month over Christmas) and I weigh 106 kilos in January. This is without changing my lifestyle of exercise or food. I eat smaller portions and don't think about food half as much as I used to. It's been great up until my 6th shot of 10 mg. I would experience mild side effects of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps. These tended to be spread across the board as well though, never all at the same time, and it was manageable. However, my 6th dose I felt instantly! I was nauseous for 3 days straight, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps, tired, the list is endless. I was so worn out by the nausea, I couldn't sleep, eat, or drink. I took myself to the walk-in center at the hospital where they referred me straight to A&E for having a resting heart rate of 128 bpm. I was put on an IV drip, bloods taken. I felt awful and still do! Going to go back to 7.5 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro to help control my blood sugar. I had tried Ozempic and Trulicity and could not tolerate the nausea, sulfur burps, and stomach issues. Mounjaro has been life-changing. No bad side effects. I’m not hungry, I don’t have cravings, I’m losing weight steadily, and sweet desserts taste too sweet. Many people say they’ve had bad side effects with it. I say try it as it may work for you. Just like I couldn’t use other meds that other people love. For me, it has been life-altering."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Mounjaro on 9/1. This resulted in the very worst month of my life. WEEK ONE - Super Nauseous, indigestion, stomach pain for 3-4 days of the first week. My appetite went from a 10 to a 2 (which was good). WEEK TWO - I had diarrhea for 3-4 days, along with sulfur belches, nausea, stomach pain. I ended up having to take sick days and go get an IV bag to recover from the dehydration. WEEK THREE - World-class nausea and vomiting. 3 days of vomiting so hard that I ruptured my esophagus. The entire month, if I was not having diarrhea, I was VERY constipated. I lost 9 lbs in one month, but I don't know if it was because I could barely eat due to the sickness. PASS!!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm on month three. My doctor thinks I might be too sensitive to it and may have to stop soon. Extreme nausea, occasional vomiting, and sulfur burps followed by diarrhea, weakness, and lethargy. The pros: in three months, I've gone from 262 lbs to 239 lbs."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I'm type 2 diabetic and was on Ozempic for quite some time and having difficulty getting my medication. My doctor changed me to Mounjaro for my diabetes thinking I would be able to get my meds. I started on the 5 mg since I had been on Ozempic. My side effects were typical slight nausea. I was trying to get my second month filled and the issues started with availability AGAIN. The 5 mg and 7.5 mg were on backorder. He increased my dose to 10 mg. I have experienced sulfur burps, but that is about it. I have not seen much weight loss, but then again I'm more concerned about my diabetes. Shame on the drug companies for dangling a medication that works to lower A1C and cholesterol and choosing to utilize it for weight loss where the insurance won't cover it. I'm not using this medication for vanity, it's for my chronic disease."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Holy side effects. First, if you eat when you take it, it just sits in your stomach and you’ll be burping it for 12 hours. The headache is insane. Starts immediately. Then you are hit with 3 days of nausea, fatigue, and just overall fatigue. Just when you start to feel better, cue the insane heartburn! It took me 5 days to feel normal again. I’ll pass on this even though I lost 5 pounds the first week."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I tried Ozempic for 9 weeks and thought I was going to die, so they switched me to Mounjaro. The 1st 2 weeks were okay, I just didn't have an appetite, but week 3 hit me just like Ozempic did. Total exhaustion. I've lost 5 lbs in a little over 3 days. I have side effects of sulfur burps, dehydration, constant nausea, falling asleep at all times, all-night vomiting, and diarrhea. I feel bruised from head to toe and have blurred vision. I'm telling people this for a warning. Read the reviews. People are constantly going to the ER because of these medications. I'm flustered because I found something that worked for my diabetes, but it is really bad for me. Since starting Ozempic up to now, I've lost almost 30 lbs... might sound great, but not when you can't function."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started out on the 5mg and was deathly ill from it for about a week, with severe diarrhea and belching that was so awful it made me want to vomit. I lost 9 pounds, and my sugars are going down and staying where they are supposed to be. I called my doctor, and she switched me down to the 2.5mg, better just one day of illness. Started back on the 5mg, and I still feel horrible for 24 hours after day 2 of the shot. But sugars are awesome, and I'm hoping this too will pass."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was prescribed the 2.5 dosage as a trial by my endocrinologist for pre-diabetic and weight loss on 9/15/22. I felt fine the first day, shot was given in the morning, but the next day I actually forgot to eat lunch. That is not normal for me. I wasn’t hungry. The third and fourth day I had horrible sulfur burps, nausea, fatigue. On the fourth day, I took two naps, which is not normal for me. I thought my symptoms were getting worse, but then the fifth and sixth day I felt great. I am fearful to take the next injection this week as I don’t want a repeat of the less than desirable side effects. It really wrecked my weekend. On the upside, I lost a couple of pounds the first week. That’s exciting, but at what cost?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Been on Mounjaro since 9/11/22. Today is 3/4/23. I have lost close to 60 lbs and went from a pant size 46 down to 40. My wife says I “lost my tire” looking at me from behind. Started at 2.5 dose. Was dizzy and unsteady in the early days. Headache and nausea till my body acclimated. Switched my shot day to Friday night so if I’m not feeling great, it’s the weekend and not impacting work. Worked up to 5.0 then 7.5. Did each for 8 weeks instead of 4 to level off the side effects. Wanted to stay at that level, but no one can get it. Took my first 10.0 shot last night. So far so good. All my levels are great. Sulfur burps if I overeat. Am also doing Herbalife shakes 2 times a day and having a sensible dinner. I still snack after dinner, but nothing crazy. Exercise 5/6 times per week. I think 7.5 should be my maintenance dose, but again, no one can get it. Will trade the mild side effects for being able to fit into my clothes."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro 7 weeks ago. The first shot made me so nauseous and have such bad abdominal pain that lasted for 12 hours. I almost went to the ER. I told my doctor about my experience, and she gave me Zofran and told me to continue dieting. Fast forward to this weekend - took my shot on Friday morning, then spent all day Saturday and Sunday projectile vomiting (it literally ended up about 7 feet from where I was standing), uncontrollable diarrhea, disgusting sulfur burps, horrible heartburn, and dizziness. Finally, I decided to go to the ER and got treated for dehydration. They told me to follow up with my primary doctor to talk about the best way to continue the medication. After this experience, I am NEVER taking this drug again. While I've lost 25 lbs in the past 7 weeks, I believe it's mostly because I've been afraid to eat anything. I will continue to eat healthy and cut carbs and sugars, but I won't be taking Mounjaro again."

For Type 2 Diabetes "In the two doses, my blood sugar has been lower, my appetite has diminished, and I had no side effects. At the end of the second week (Saturday), I woke up during the night with stomach pain, diarrhea, and belching. After 6 hours, I finally vomited up undigested food that had been in my stomach for over 12 hours. It looked like I had just eaten. I avoided all food until Sunday morning, eating 1/2 of a plain English muffin. I had Lipton chicken soup, a piece of Bavarian pretzel, and a few french fries (picking from my wife’s meal). Monday, I finally felt hungry and had a Whopper Jr. (not a good choice I know), and Tuesday I woke up with food sitting in my stomach and one diarrhea BM. NOTE: I have not taken dose #3, nor do I plan to. This is slowing my digestion down too much. I have never had digestive issues, and I’m not going to start now."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on the 2.5 dose in October, my doctor felt that the weight loss would help with my joint pain and lower my A1C. From day 1, I was extremely nauseous, had no desire to eat, had sulfur burps, and had constipation. I spoke with my doctor, who encouraged me to ride it out. On week four, I was stepped up to the 5 mg dosage. The doctor called in Zofran for stomach issues. On week six, I called her and said I could no longer function. During this time, I was so fatigued and was having heart palpitations and was barely able to walk 20 feet without being totally exhausted. I chalked it up to being so nauseous and not eating. Then my legs started to burn like I had walked up a steep hill and felt so sore and bruised I could barely sit. That week, I had my follow-up appointment with my doctor. I told her about my symptoms, and she said that rhabdomyolysis is not a side effect of Mounjaro. I was never dehydrated, but my CK levels were still 440 two weeks off the medication! Eight weeks later, and no improvement!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Went to the doctor and asked for something to help lose weight. He prescribed this medication. Day 1 and 2... nothing. Day 3 woke up with horrible heartburn and sour sulfur burps and facts and was constipated. By day 3 evening, I no longer had constipation but just the opposite... diarrhea! And not just any kind, it was like yellow water and very acidic. It hurt! Had horrible gas and belching all day Saturday, and Sunday couldn't hardly leave the bathroom to go buy Imodium. Imodium helped with that, but the gas is now trapped, and my stomach hurts badly, and I am full of gas with bad heartburn and belching. I saw a correlation between fatty foods and severe side effects of this product. But unless you're a vegan, you eat fat, and that's a major problem with this product. It is now Monday night, and I cannot seem to get my work done, I hurt so badly. I will never take this product again, and I cannot in good conscience recommend it with all the terrible side effects. Shame on Mounjaro!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am just getting back on after having to quit for hip joint replacement surgery. I am up to 7 mg now. My daily glucose level is going down. I’ve had some weight loss. But the side effects are discouraging. Excessive gas, burping, bloating, diarrhea, and fluttering inside my chest. These symptoms last 2 or 3 days after injection. I am going to continue injections in the hope the side effects get better."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Mounjaro 2.5 mg in March of this year (2024). Every month, my doctor increased my dose to the next level. I was put on the medication to help with my A1C because it would go up and down but not at a normal number. After 3 months, it went from a 7 to 4.5. I was so happy with the result. I am currently on 15 mg and I am down 50 lbs (over 6 months) and A1C is staying at 4.5. My original goal was 30 lbs by September and 60 by next March. I am so excited that I am already close to my year weight goal loss. The only side effects that I have had were the sulfur burps, which I figured out how to control and prevent and stop. And occasional constipation, which I just increased fiber intake to help. Everyone's experience is different. I went into taking it and researching all the side effects and being careful. I am thankful to my doctor for helping me, and I am happy with the results so far."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Type 2 - I had been on Ozempic. It made me vomit/diarrhea, had Charley horses and hand tremors, and I was belching acid. After 3 months, my Endo switched me to Mounjaro, stating it was stronger, but many people tolerate it better. Week one, I was sick six days. All the same symptoms I had on Ozempic, only more severe. Heart rate 15 beats higher per minute. Week two, I was sick five days. Week three, within 12 hours, all the same symptoms began, and more. The vomiting was severe (mouth and nose). The belching was rank smelling/tasting. Diarrhea. My appetite was definitely curbed. My belly sounded like a flood of water flowing through my innermost pipes but felt numb. Eyes were so dry. My watch alerted me that at night my respiration rate was dipping to 7.5. (Did not even know my watch tracked that!) My heart rate dipped to 45. My blood sugar went to 43. Felt like I was not going to breathe or control peeing. And more! Day five, I ended up in the hospital in AFIB with a high heart rate. ICU."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro in March 2024 at 193 pounds and an A1C of 12.3. For almost 11 years as a type 1 diabetic. By July 2024, I was down to 153 pounds and an A1C of 7.75. I started off with the two, then went to the five, then to the seven, then to the 10. But after being on a 10, I started back developing an appetite, however, I exercised at least two hours per day faithfully in the gym. When I was on the number five, I had diarrhea a lot. When I made it to the 10, I just had a lot of belching, burping, saying that the 10 wasn’t doing much, I was still at like 150. I was bumped up to the number 12, and Lord have mercy on my soul. It almost took me out of here! I lost weight too fast. I got down to 116 pounds. I couldn’t. I didn’t have any desire to eat. I didn’t have any desire to drink. I would forget that I hadn’t been drinking anything. I would forget that I didn’t eat anything, and I’m still going to the gym every single day. It was until I dehydrated twice that I..."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been a type 2 diabetic for about 15 years. Worked hard to bring my A1c down with carb reduction and exercise. I track my 24-hour average glucose twice a day when I take my medications and track that number in a spreadsheet. I use a CGM. With the very first injection, I was able to detect a noticeable drop in my glucose numbers within 5 hours of the first injection. My 24-hour average glucose reading has dropped from 140 mg/dL to 110 mg/dL partway through the 2nd injection. I have not seen my glucose readings this good in years. My current tracking spreadsheet goes back to May of 2024. The doctor suggested this drug to see if weight loss induction might occur and help me become strictly diet controlled. During the first 2 weeks, I have been able to eliminate extended-release metformin from my medications. Some mild stomach pain and belching were initially present, but those have passed."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on the 2.5 mg dose initially. I had redness at the injection site, which went down after a couple of months, although it didn’t go away entirely. When they upped my dose to 5 mgs, I had sulfur burps for about a week. I was on it for four months, and I lost 23 pounds without exercising. It took about a month to see any change in weight. It brought my A1C down to pre-diabetes levels. I am going back on it again, but once I hit my goal weight of 128, I’ll probably stop it. My only negative besides the side effects is the injection tip mechanism gets stuck, and then you can’t put it back to save and try again, then all of a sudden, it decides to release and squirts all over."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Mounjaro for almost a year. Started at 194 lbs, now averaging 145-150 lbs. In the beginning, I had the usual gastro effects - upset stomach, diarrhea, and no appetite even for water. Despite eating low calories, I lost slowly, about 1 lb a week. I had no energy to work out. If I tried staying on lower doses to minimize side effects, then the appetite would come back. After a few months, the gastro effects mostly went away, and I am left with sulfur burps, fatigue, irritability, and a general meh attitude about everything. I am someone who I would say has an addictive personality, and addiction runs in my family, and this drug works on your reward systems as well, so I’m not surprised it takes away my motivation. Despite the bad, it’s the only thing that has worked for me for weight loss. Currently, I take the injection every 14 days to minimize side effects and also to keep it affordable. Doing this keeps me at the weight I’m at, which I would like to be about 10 pounds less."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Mounjaro since Jan. 2023. I have lost 20 pounds. I need to lose 20 more. Side effects: burping, stomach upset, constipation, flu-like body aches, mildly depressed feeling, and fatigue. Not every day, not every symptom every day, and not all day. It comes and goes. I will continue but do wonder how it’s gonna go long term. I’m just sick of being fat."
