For Type 2 Diabetes "I usually don’t share reviews but felt this was warranted. I took my first 2.5 mg shot on 9/4, felt fine until 9/7 when the terrible sulfur burps started followed by sour stomach and nausea. Around 10 pm that night, I began 5 days of severe vomiting and diarrhea, which culminated yesterday at the ER getting fluids, CT scans, and IV nausea meds. I will not be taking this shot again. I have not thrown up anymore, but the diarrhea will just not stop. I can’t eat or take any of my other medication properly. Beware. When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. I’m a past user of Byetta, Victoza, Ozempic, Trulicity, Rybelsus, Bydureon, all the pills, and about every homeopathic treatment ever made. I didn’t take this shot like a blind fool, but I have never had a side effect as terrible as this one. I’ll stick with my insulin. At least I can function like a normal human being!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started with this medication for weight loss, and since I am 58 and a diabetic, my insurance covered it. It is a fantastic weight loss drug for me. Starting at 5'6, 242 lbs, I've lost 23 pounds in 12 weeks. I don't remember when I was able to lose this much weight. I've dieted my whole life and finally gave up and ballooned to 242 lbs. You have to be careful about eating greasy food and not overeating. I did vomit a few times after eating greasy food. Other than that, I'm so excited. My first goal is to get to 180 and see what happens. My feet no longer hurt when I stand all shift."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on Mounjaro for 2 months. I had side effects of lower back pain, increased thirst, and decreased urine output. I increased my fluid intake, cut out all sugary drinks and foods. I could barely eat. I was on 5 mg. I woke on 1/16/2023 vomiting black coffee-like grounds. I went to the ER that afternoon and was admitted. After many labs and scans, I found out my liver was in shock. All liver enzymes were elevated. I am talking 1100 numbers elevated from what the normal is, 40 ish. My liver was on the way to shutting down. My body was shutting down. I also had a GI BLEED. Do not take this medication. There is not enough information!!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I completed 4 weeks on 2.5 mg with zero side effects, other than the intended appetite suppression and lost 10 pounds. HOWEVER, after my second week at 5mg, I'm not sure I can continue. I've had awful nausea, vomiting, sulfur burps, and diarrhea, to the point I had to go to the ER for IV fluids and potassium. Zofran, Phenergan, Tums, and Pepto have zero effect. I can barely function, but hey, I'm down a total of 17 lbs in 6 weeks, so at least I'll look skinny for my next trip to the ER."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Good results. Immediate appetite suppression starting with the lowest dose. More importantly, my food cravings went away. It takes a couple of weeks, at most, to get through the psychological part of less appetite/less food. You get full quickly, and yet you feel like you still want to eat because your mind is telling you, 'how can you be full already, you've only had 4 bites?' For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Mounjaro 2.5 mg on September 6th, weighing in at 128 kilos. I'm now on my 7th shot of 10 mg (as I stayed on 10 mg for another month over Christmas) and I weigh 106 kilos in January. This is without changing my lifestyle of exercise or food. I eat smaller portions and don't think about food half as much as I used to. It's been great up until my 6th shot of 10 mg. I would experience mild side effects of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps. These tended to be spread across the board as well though, never all at the same time, and it was manageable. However, my 6th dose I felt instantly! I was nauseous for 3 days straight, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps, tired, the list is endless. I was so worn out by the nausea, I couldn't sleep, eat, or drink. I took myself to the walk-in center at the hospital where they referred me straight to A&E for having a resting heart rate of 128 bpm. I was put on an IV drip, bloods taken. I felt awful and still do! Going to go back to 7.5 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Mounjaro on 9/1. This resulted in the very worst month of my life. WEEK ONE - Super Nauseous, indigestion, stomach pain for 3-4 days of the first week. My appetite went from a 10 to a 2 (which was good). WEEK TWO - I had diarrhea for 3-4 days, along with sulfur belches, nausea, stomach pain. I ended up having to take sick days and go get an IV bag to recover from the dehydration. WEEK THREE - World-class nausea and vomiting. 3 days of vomiting so hard that I ruptured my esophagus. The entire month, if I was not having diarrhea, I was VERY constipated. I lost 9 lbs in one month, but I don't know if it was because I could barely eat due to the sickness. PASS!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started at the 2.5 level and lost some weight (15 lbs.). Sugars are down as well. Greasy foods are not recommended. Went to the 5.0 level and everything dairy went bad... sours on the stomach badly and quickly. Ate too much one night and got very ill, vomiting and diarrhea all night along with serious gas from both ends! I don't like that I can't have my dairy, even tried Lactaid to no avail. Also, there seems to be a metallic taste in my mouth most of the time."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor recommended Mounjaro. I objected because of previous experience with side effects from Byetta, Victoza, and Trulicity. He said the side effects were mild. I agreed to try 2.5, that was a horrible decision! My heart rate elevated, pulse and blood pressure increased, couldn’t eat, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of sense of balance. Went to the doctor 2 days later, and I was so dehydrated I required 2 1/2 bags of IV solution to help me drive home. I can’t remember ever being so sick. I will never take it again or recommend it to anyone!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro 7 weeks ago. The first shot made me so nauseous and have such bad abdominal pain that lasted for 12 hours. I almost went to the ER. I told my doctor about my experience, and she gave me Zofran and told me to continue dieting. Fast forward to this weekend - took my shot on Friday morning, then spent all day Saturday and Sunday projectile vomiting (it literally ended up about 7 feet from where I was standing), uncontrollable diarrhea, disgusting sulfur burps, horrible heartburn, and dizziness. Finally, I decided to go to the ER and got treated for dehydration. They told me to follow up with my primary doctor to talk about the best way to continue the medication. After this experience, I am NEVER taking this drug again. While I've lost 25 lbs in the past 7 weeks, I believe it's mostly because I've been afraid to eat anything. I will continue to eat healthy and cut carbs and sugars, but I won't be taking Mounjaro again."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "You do lose weight, but the waves of nausea, vomiting, severe constipation, and hypoglycemia are so unpleasant, and if you escalate and find it too much - it lasts for a whole week. Consider liraglutide daily, much easier to titrate, and if you escalate and find it too much, you can lower down and only have one day of downtime."

For Type 2 Diabetes "In the two doses, my blood sugar has been lower, my appetite has diminished, and I had no side effects. At the end of the second week (Saturday), I woke up during the night with stomach pain, diarrhea, and belching. After 6 hours, I finally vomited up undigested food that had been in my stomach for over 12 hours. It looked like I had just eaten. I avoided all food until Sunday morning, eating 1/2 of a plain English muffin. I had Lipton chicken soup, a piece of Bavarian pretzel, and a few french fries (picking from my wife’s meal). Monday, I finally felt hungry and had a Whopper Jr. (not a good choice I know), and Tuesday I woke up with food sitting in my stomach and one diarrhea BM. NOTE: I have not taken dose #3, nor do I plan to. This is slowing my digestion down too much. I have never had digestive issues, and I’m not going to start now."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic 2 mg since it came out. When I couldn't get it due to shortage, I was prescribed Mounjaro 5 mg. Five days after eating my one meal a day, I intermittent fast, and I started vomiting. I spent the whole night throwing up every half hour. I figured it was a side effect and hoped I would improve. I had stomach and back pain, weakness, and was unable to eat. I was in bed until I had to get up and sit due to pain, sleeping off and on. I could only drink water. I got worse and finally, five days later, had my husband drive me to the ER. I know I should have gone sooner. I didn't take a second shot. I had a CAT scan and was told I had a bowel obstruction, and I would be admitted and there for a few days. If they couldn't resolve it through a tube down my nose, I would have surgery. Luckily, it was resolved by the nasal tube, but it was awful. My medical care pharmacist told me to try Mounjaro 2.5 mg. I was worried but did it. I didn't get nausea, but I had all these other side effects. I quit taking it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on 2.5 dosages for several weeks. I felt a little nauseous but was losing weight and very happy. I was not waking up in the middle of the night feeling hungry. When I went to refill my next prescription, all the pharmacy had was 12.5 mg, so I agreed to try. Huge mistake. I have severe nausea, felt like I have the flu, can't stay awake, and body aches are ridiculous. I projectile vomited what looks like coffee grounds, I have awful sulfuric burps, and can't even keep down sips of water. I've missed 2 days of work thus far and have to have someone come to my house tomorrow to give me an IV because I'm too scared to drive. Not worth it at all."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started out on the 2.5 for 2 months and lost 15 lbs, and my A1C dropped from 6.7 to 6.0. Mild side effect symptoms of abdominal pain and nausea. I started the 5 mg and had explosive diarrhea and uncontrollable vomiting, with abdominal and back pain. My blood pressure dropped to 88/55. I had to stop taking the Mounjaro. After 3 weeks, I am starting to feel normal again. Sorry it didn’t work for me. It did curb the appetite."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Mounjaro for weight loss and also for type 2 diabetes. I started taking it in February 2024. I have lost 124 lbs total. It has been a lifesaver, but I have been experiencing a lot of side effects lately. I am not sure if it is due to the medicine or something else. I have been sick also, so it could be that. I cannot walk without severe exhaustion and vomiting sometimes. I have trouble breathing most of the time. For Type 2 Diabetes "Type 2 - I had been on Ozempic. It made me vomit/diarrhea, had Charley horses and hand tremors, and I was belching acid. After 3 months, my Endo switched me to Mounjaro, stating it was stronger, but many people tolerate it better. Week one, I was sick six days. All the same symptoms I had on Ozempic, only more severe. Heart rate 15 beats higher per minute. Week two, I was sick five days. Week three, within 12 hours, all the same symptoms began, and more. The vomiting was severe (mouth and nose). The belching was rank smelling/tasting. Diarrhea. My appetite was definitely curbed. My belly sounded like a flood of water flowing through my innermost pipes but felt numb. Eyes were so dry. My watch alerted me that at night my respiration rate was dipping to 7.5. (Did not even know my watch tracked that!) My heart rate dipped to 45. My blood sugar went to 43. Felt like I was not going to breathe or control peeing. And more! Day five, I ended up in the hospital in AFIB with a high heart rate. ICU."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I just finished my first month of Mounjaro 2.5 mg. I did experience some side effects on the first day: nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, but the second day was better. After eating a small meal, I experienced bad sulfur-like burps throughout the day. So I took Pepto Bismol, and that worked like a charm! So before each one of my injections, I take a dose of it the first half hour before with no problems now."

I have been on 5 mg for 16 weeks due to a shortage of 7.5 mg, so weight loss has slowed down considerably, but I am not gaining! For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started using Mounjaro in March 2023, with a 2.5 mg dose, for weight loss. I shifted to 5 mg after 2 weeks; I stayed with each dose for around 2-3 months. I lost 10 kg by August (6 mo.). I had a freeze in weight loss for 5 weeks, then I lost 1.8 kg in 2 weeks when I took 10 mg. In terms of side effects, I experienced them during the first weeks of every upgrade in dose; like nausea and sometimes vomiting, headache, stomach pain, constipation and diarrhea, laziness, body ache, mood change; the worst was with 10 mg. As I have urticaria, I experienced an allergy at the needle site after week 10, which resolved in 3 days every time. This week I have pelvic, vaginal, and lower abdominal pain similar to period pain, although I have been menopausal for 4 years! I am happy about the results with minimal side effects."

First dose at 7.5 ml vomiting on first dose, however, it has subsided. Weight loss apparent due to smaller portion sizes. Overall, so far so good."
