For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Mounjaro for almost a year. Started at 194 lbs, now averaging 145-150 lbs. In the beginning, I had the usual gastro effects - upset stomach, diarrhea, and no appetite even for water. Despite eating low calories, I lost slowly, about 1 lb a week. I had no energy to work out. If I tried staying on lower doses to minimize side effects, then the appetite would come back. After a few months, the gastro effects mostly went away, and I am left with sulfur burps, fatigue, irritability, and a general meh attitude about everything. I am someone who I would say has an addictive personality, and addiction runs in my family, and this drug works on your reward systems as well, so I’m not surprised it takes away my motivation. Despite the bad, it’s the only thing that has worked for me for weight loss. Currently, I take the injection every 14 days to minimize side effects and also to keep it affordable. Doing this keeps me at the weight I’m at, which I would like to be about 10 pounds less."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "In 2023, I became concerned when I gained weight, leading to me being 202 pounds. After my first Mounjaro shot, I felt appetite suppression immediately. Two days later, I made the mistake of eating greasy, cheesy pizza, leading to nausea, and I threw it up. Try to eat nutritious and less fried food on it. Also, I experienced severe cramps and diarrhea. It was just my first week, though, and I was notified that nausea and gastrointestinal issues are common for the first 1-2 weeks. It definitely gets better as your body gets used to it. As I have taken long gaps of 10-14 days in between doses, mild gastrointestinal problems still occur, but it’s definitely more manageable than before. Overall, I am very satisfied with this medication. I am much more in control of eating and don’t binge. I also lost 12 pounds in 5 weeks!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Using this medication for over a year now, and at first, I experienced nausea and an upset stomach until I found that using different parts of the body to inject into may help with that, and bam, nausea gone. I had constipation, which was resolved with 1000 mg of magnesium. In the beginning, at my max dose, I had little appetite and ate to keep from getting low blood sugars. I lost 15 lbs and gained 20 back, but I didn't originally take the medication for weight loss, it was to control my type 2, which it has, so I can’t complain about that. My A1C is better and my blood glucose most days are normal. Now I just have to lose the weight I put on to feel comfortable again, which when I discussed this with my provider, she confirmed some people lose weight and keep it off, others will hit a plateau and gain some back once they hit their max dose."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro worked well in the beginning. My BGL was lower, and I lost weight. After about 18 months, the control of my BGL was not as consistent. I experienced nausea and loss of appetite from the beginning, but that lessened over time. Recently, I have begun to experience severe diarrhea and belching for several days after taking a shot."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Unsure if the dose is too large. Severe decrease in appetite. Concurrent weight loss - 23 lbs so far. Weak. Tired all the time. Blood sugar in really good control, except for needing antibiotics to fight a severe cold and then flu. That has caused blood sugars in the 250 to 315 range. Strange lack of energy. Am on a 15 mg dose currently. Too much?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Love this medication and have lost 10kg in 6 weeks with a good diet and exercise. However, the side effects can be pretty intense. 2.5mg - sulfur burps, lethargy, flatulence, weight loss, decreased appetite, nausea. 5mg - sulfur burps, flatulence, abdominal distension, nausea, weight loss, chills, fever, headaches."

For Type 2 Diabetes "After month two, I’ve gotten a rash at the injection site. I immediately get a headache, much like a migraine, an hour or two after the injection. On day 2, I’m very tired and battle headaches throughout the day. On days 3, 4, and 5, I am nauseated and don’t have much of an appetite. On days 6 and 7, I’m extremely hungry, and then it starts like clockwork again. I don’t notice any weight loss, if so, it’s inches off my waist, but nothing too noticeable. I was on Ozempic 2 mg for 2 years and was switched to 7.5 mg of Mounjaro after the Ozempic shortage began in June 2022. Not sure if I should switch back at this point."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 2.5 mg and had a terrible time controlling my glucose levels. That dosage caused my A1C to raise from 5.4 to 6.1. Doc increased my dose to 5 mg. So far, no side effects except my blood glucose is still too high. A1C down to 5.9 and no weight loss you all speak of. This week, started 7.5 mg and started back on metformin ER 500 mg at night to control high BG 150 in AM. Immediately, over the last 2 days, I understand what you mean by no appetite. However, now my BG gets too low, 75 in the afternoons if I do not eat lunch. The scale is still not my friend. This balancing act is so frustrating. The good news is my next A1C next week will probably be back to my original 5.4 as long as I stay on the metformin. I doubt my diabetes doc will raise my dosage."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro 5 ml a month ago and lost about 11 lbs. I don't experience any bad side effects. Suppressed appetite to the point of aversion to food, a few bites, and feel full as if I had eaten a large portion. Looking forward to lowering my A1C and blood sugar levels, looking better (skinnier) is an extra benefit at this point."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am two injections in, third one tomorrow. I have occasional nausea during sleep, but only if I ate more than I should or if I ate something sugary (still learning the ins and outs), lots of burping, and a decreased appetite. Have lost 7 lbs so far, and my blood sugar has been much easier to control."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Mounjaro for almost three months, increasing the dosage each month according to my doctor's prescriptions due to my Type 2 diabetes. I have experienced dizziness, constipation, lack of appetite, blurry vision, and nausea after eating a meal. None of the side effects I've experienced have been severe enough to warrant discontinuing Mounjaro. My A1C has dropped from 8.5 to 6.3, and I have lost 30+ pounds since starting Mounjaro. I have not experienced diarrhea, vomiting, or pancreatitis. I am pleased with Mounjaro, which has resulted in weight loss and diminishing A1C levels."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Mounjaro since Sep 2022. I started off with the 2.5 mg for about a month with no issues. My provider then moved me to 5 mg in October. Once again, no issues, and I started losing weight. 15 lbs in about 6 weeks. I was then moved up to 7.5 mg in November and have been miserable ever since. I have no appetite, severe constipation, major headaches, and vomiting, and I am now having issues with low blood pressure (causing lightheadedness, dizziness, and vision issues), which I believe is being caused by my never wanting to eat or drink anything. I have informed my provider of this, and she is now wanting to send me to a cardiologist to make sure my heart is working properly. She has also decided to lower my dosage back to 5 mg. I am hoping this change helps because so far, my type 2 diabetes is under control, and my sugars have been fantastic!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "My first shot (2.5) was 7/11/24. Had a 2-week interruption due to availability and doctor/pharmacy miscommunication. After the interruption, I was on the 5 mg and have now been taking it for 14 weeks. After one month, my A1C went down to 6.5, and I can't wait to see what it will be when I get my next blood work in about 3 weeks. My FBS has been consistently below 100! Losing weight is just a bonus to me - started at 203 pounds and I'm now down to 183 pounds. I've had no ill effects (I don't really consider loss of appetite as a bad side effect). I eat when I'm hungry until I'm no longer hungry, and I'm not interested in snack/junk foods. Win/win! I try to eat healthy (minimal processed foods) and exercise every other day on my stationary bike and upper body weights/resistance bands. At 61, I think I'm healthier than I have been in ages."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Had to stop taking after 7 weeks of use. Total loss of appetite, very weak. When I try to eat, cannot do it due to gagging. The smell of foods upsets my stomach. Getting scary now, haven't used Mounjaro for 2 1/2 weeks and no improvement. No energy at all, hard to function."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am coming up to a year. I've lost almost 40 pounds. Yeah for me! Side effects are loss of appetite along with feeling nauseous to painful arms. Other than that, my A1C when last checked was 5.3. My doctor said I now am normal in both my BMI and A1C. I am now on 7.5. The only bad thing has been the pain in my arms. Sometimes it wakes me up at night. I eat mostly protein and drink lots of water. Some days I do crave junk food, however, when I do, I eat it! Dot's Pretzels is my enemy. I have found that eating fruit after taking my shot helps with the side effects. But what do we do with the used pens? It's been a journey, but so far, doable. Good luck to all who are just starting!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro on July 19th, 2024. I started the medication because I was pre-diabetic, my A1C was high, and if I could lose a few pounds, it would be a plus. In my first week, I had the following side effects: nausea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, and some fatigue. I went to my doctor for a follow-up and had lost 5 pounds in my first two weeks. This was good, and I loved the weight loss. My A1C was 5.5, wonderful. Yet, I talked to my doctor about the fatigue. It had worsened to the point where my body didn't want to go up and down stairs. He suggested it was my sleep, however, my sleep habits hadn't changed. I'm planning to take Mounjaro 2.5 to see if the side effects lessen. Updates to come."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Brain fog, nausea, diarrhea, insomnia. Took 2.5 mg for 1 year, had problems with Kroger accepting savings card, so stopped. Really like having my brain back at full power... lost a lot of executive function while on Mounjaro. Have been off for a month. Blood sugar levels increasing, but not enough to put up with side effects. Appetite decreased after stopping (opposite of advertised effect)."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I used this for the first month at 2.5mg and did fine. Didn't really notice too much change and minimal impact on my sugar numbers. After 1 month, my doctor increased the dosage to 10mg. From that point, day 1 after my shot, I experience complete loss of appetite, chills, gastric pain. Days 2-4, I just had the loss of appetite and gastric pain, soft stools. Day 5 after my shot, loss of appetite, pain & diarrhea. The 6th day, some appetite back, less pain, no BM at all. Day of next injection was good, was able to eat more, no pain, normal BM. Day after 2nd shot at 10mg, is repeating again. I was losing some weight at the lower dosage but the sugar numbers weren't that much improved. On the higher dosage, I'm no longer losing weight but my sugars are more in line and coming down."
