Equate Sleep Aid (doxylamine) for Insomnia "After night shift, I fall asleep but wake up in three or four hours. Definitely not enough sleep when going back out to work the following night. I now get a full seven to eight hours sleep. I love this product."

For Insomnia "I only need a quarter of a tablet to get to sleep and stay there for about five hours. I do not want to "get used to it" so I also try not to used it too often. Lately I was trialed on a new medication, and I had to use half to get to sleep. It is an antihistamine type product, so two birds, one stone."

For Insomnia "I am not sure if this is Typical or just me. Possibly anxiety/OCD related. After I take a Unisom sleep tab (25mg) and lay down when I begin to get sleepy, it is like the second I close my eyes, my brain comes up with the most off the wall, weird/odd images and things that my brain will just expound on. (I am not experiencing auditory hallucinations) however, the typical voice inside my head goes haywire for about ten minutes until I am out of it."

For Insomnia "Best stuff ever ! I've been stressed out lately and not sleeping well at all . Toss , turn , uncomfortable at times . I tried a Unisom Gel Cap - it didn't do a thing . These little BLUE PILLS work . I took the entire pill and rested to say that I slept soundly for 8+ hours ! Highly recommend !!!!"

Sleep Aid (doxylamine) for Insomnia "I've been having problems with going to sleep at night for awhile now and saw unisom advertised on a commercial so I decided to try something for the first time ... I would say it kicked in about a hour after taking it - I still went to bed late just not as late as usual ... I slept the whole night through but in the mornings I would be more tired and still in bed until a little after 1 pm ... Not a morning person but I hate getting up that late after 11 is too late for me but I still be in bed tired - So that's my only problem!"

Unisom SleepTabs (doxylamine) for Insomnia "This unisom pill is absolutely useless. I wake in the middle of the night on 4/5 hrs sleep and figured I'd try it out because it was "extra strength". I started taking 2 because nothing was happening when I took 1. Nothing after 2 - it did nothing. At best I'd get a slight yawn n a lil dozy after an hour, but not enough to fall asleep. Save yourself the $12/bottle they want and don't buy this pill."

For Insomnia "Like many reviews on here, I get mixed results with this med. Sometimes only need 1/2 tab, other times full tab. Sometimes get good sleep right through, other times not. Sometimes have severe grogginess in morning, other times not. Sometimes have vivid dreams, other times not. But generally speaking, the med is always more effective than not taking it. It’s well worth a try for anyone who has trouble with sleep, and perhaps far more effective and safer than heavier prescription drugs for sleep."

Unisom SleepTabs (doxylamine) for Insomnia "I suffer from insomnia I was even taking lorazepam for a long time but I had to stop because it interacted with another medicine I had to take so I decided to try unisom tablets after so many other sleeping aids failed and this worked great for me ! I used it for three days and I m happy to say I have been sleeping on my own ever since!!"

For Insomnia "I've been having terrible insomnia these days and diphenhydramine just puts me in a weird zone where I can't sleep. Took 25 mg of doxylamine at 10pm and was out by 10:45pm. Didn't wake up until 2pm the next day! Feel like I made up for all the sleep I've missed this week!"

For Insomnia "My OB recommended this for my insomnia/racing thoughts at night in pregnancy. Took 25 mg and was out w/in 30 minutes and tired the next day. Cut down to 1/2 a pill and was much better. Haven't gotten a full nights sleep in 6 months and was losing my mind, it completely fixed that. I will say that if I don't drink lots of water with it I get terrible headaches but as long as I stay hydrated and give myself 8 hours to sleep I am ready and wake up right away with my alarm in the best mood I've had since the pregnancy started."

Unisom SleepTabs (doxylamine) for Insomnia "Boy did this make me sleep. I never really woke up the day after I took it, but if I can count on this to make me sleep I am optimistic. A prior reviewer indicates that they do fine with just 1/3 of a pill, so I am going to try half and take it at least an hour before bed."

Unisom SleepTabs (doxylamine) for Insomnia "I started taking unisom about month or so ago I'm a restless when trying to go to sleep so took 50 mg unisom first time worked good but since then not at all. I've taken the unisom than waited couple hours and took 10 mg melatonin than within hour I finally fall asleep. Melatonin alone doesn't work and same with unisom. I would rather not use anything but at 65 yrs old its seems I'm awake more than I sleep at night. Going to talk to dr next visit and see what she says since she is the one recommended the unisom"

For Insomnia "I took 1(one) 25mg tablet. I haven't been sleeping well so thought I would try this. I did fall asleep within about 30 minutes. I awoke about 6 hours later and my room was literally spinning. I was so dizzy feeling I could barely get to the bathroom and then back to bed. I fell back to sleep quickly which for me is unusual. I slept for another 3-4 hours. When I awoke I was still quite dizzy feeling but not like when I had woke up previously. That was 5 days ago. I have had dizziness since I took that one pill and have not taken any more. I must be extremely sensitive to this medication. I have also had some nausea this whole time."

For Insomnia "I was unknowingly taking 25 mg of doxylamine at bedtime, as part of a Nyquil capsule. I was taking the Nyquil for cold/flu symptoms, not for insomnia. I don't have trouble getting to sleep, and don't take anything as a sleep aid. The Nyquil did stop my coughing and helped to clear my lungs, but I awoke from a very sound sleep in the morning, groggy, with blurred vision, and was unsteady on my feet for a minute or two. For me, 25 mg is definitely too much. My partner, who does take this drug for sleep, has found it excessive too. Why don't the manufacturers produce this in smaller doses and/or score the pills so they can be easily divided? I think this over-the-counter medication is probably dangerous for some people. I immediately think of what I'm exposed to from other drivers who could be taking doxylamine: How much could their driving be impaired, even though they're taking a 'standard' dose? This should be a concern for anyone who doesn't want to be involved in a motor vehicle accident!"

Equate Sleep Aid (doxylamine) for Insomnia "I was worried about changing shifts and melatonin has worked after about 2 years of change behavior. I decided if I'm going to get up at 4:30 in the morning I'm going to need to get something heavy to force my body to realize it's bedtime. Since it is summer and bright until 830-9pm blackout curtains, fans, sleep mask, and me living below two 2nd shift workers, this has been a godsend. It works well for me but I honestly just need to change my diet around, work out 3 times a week and then move but I'm stuck..this works great for now. I take 1/2 pill or I'll never wake up!"

For Insomnia "I have been having problems falling asleep and staying asleep for about a year...unsure why - I have tried every over the counter sleeping pill I could find. Doxylamine is wonderful. I still sometimes have trouble staying asleep, but it allows me to fall asleep without any problems and I still feel refreshed and energetic the next morning even if I woke up a few times in the night. I will take 1-3 of the 25mg pills - I am highly tolerant of sleep inducing pills and only recommend one for most people."

Unisom SleepTabs (doxylamine) for Insomnia "Heard about this from a friend. It works well I usually wake up a few times during the night but slept like a baby when I took one gel tablet. The only thing is that the following day I would be very cranky and had a massive headache. Will not be taking this anymore!"

For Insomnia "I had severe insomnia for 6 months after losing my dad suddenly. My doctor put me on different medications, anything from melatonin to temazapam which had no effect. She said to try restavit (doxylamine) and if that didn't work the next thing would have been stilnox. Finally it was something that made me sleep the whole night, and if I wake up I can go straight back to sleep and I wake up feeling fine. I've been taking it for about 2 months now and my doctor supports me having it. I take 2 tablets 30 minutes before bed. It really saved me. Not sleeping consecutively has to be the worst feeling !"

Unisom SleepTabs (doxylamine) for Insomnia "For some reason, after taking the 2 tablets, when I get the sensation of impending sleep, I’m jolted out of my “sleepiness” because of what feels like sleep apnea. I would guess, this medicine relaxes so much that my breathing changes... horrible feeling. So with that.... I got zero sleep!"

For Insomnia "After a few nights of waking really early and not being able to get back asleep I was given these from the pharmacist. A very traumatic experience followed. Paranoia, feeling of being disconnected from reality, feeling physically weird, very little sleep, headache, dry mouth. Truly awful experience"

For Rhinorrhea "The first time I took this medicine, I fell asleep okay but then woke up 4 hours later and couldn’t get back to sleep for about 2 hours. Not realizing the sleeplessness was caused by the medicine, I took it again the next night and it jolted my body awake and gave me really bad anxiety. I was very tired but my body felt extremely jittery and nervous. It gave me very uncomfortable restless leg syndrome. It lasted for hours. I’m never taking this again. Do not take if you are prone to anxiety!!!"

For Insomnia "A half of a tablet gives me 4 hours of sleep. One whole = 8 hours. Rarely do I have any after effects like drowsiness unless I was exceptionally tired. I use this very sparingly, all sleep aids can be psychologically habit forming even if not physically so. Only if I can't sleep for 3 or more days consecutively, or in periods of extreme stress. Tried many other products, only this one works great for me."

For Insomnia "I am a 43 year-old healthy female and have suffered from insomnia due to stress and/or alcohol withdrawals on and off for years, and have taken almost everything except Lunesta, from natural to prescription remedies. This works but literally only once - it's like a tolerance is built up even faster than zopiclone. I hate the groggy feeling it leaves, and over time I think it has contributed to depressive disorder. I'd say the box is right - not for continued use."

Equate Sleep Aid (doxylamine) for Insomnia "I have used other diphenhydramine products in the past such as, Benadryl and Zquil. I decided to try the Equate brand because of the quantity and suspiciously low price. I have never had an issue with diphenhydramine before Equate. Even taking just one has my heart pounding and I can't sleep. I have searched the internet trying to find out what else is in this and I can not seem to find out anything other than it is not from this country. I will never use any Equate brand medications again."
