"I am 45, 5’5 currently weighing 187 lbs. I wanted to share my weight-loss journey thus far as well as share my progress moving forward. I started a 1,200-calorie or less diet and 45 min exercise plan in Sept 2024 weighing in at 192 lbs with consultation from my PCP. With the weight loss of 5 lbs I’ve started feeling very defeated. Along with being obese, I was diagnosed with OSA in 2018. Now the FDA has approved Zepbound for the treatment of sleep apnea (OSA), and I decided to take advantage of that decision. I spoke with my GP, she shared my office consultation notes with my sleep doctor. My sleep doctor thought Zepbound would be of great benefit to me since I have been on a calorie deficit diet and consistent exercise routine over 3 months with less than 5% weight loss. My insurance agreed and approved Zepbound with a copay of $60. With the Zep savings card, I paid $25. I will provide you all with an update in 4 weeks."

"Started taking specifically for weight loss. Starting weight on Aug 1 was 192 lbs and did the 2.5mg for a month. Weight on Aug 30 was 176 lbs! Only side effect was the WORST dry mouth - whoa! Not expecting that but it went away. It completely took away constant thoughts of eating and cravings. Weight loss was effortless. Started 5mg - 2nd week had a lot more nausea - felt like pregnancy nausea. If I was busy, I wouldn't think about it but if I thought about eating or smelled food - no thank you! It was the most intense the day after I did my shot and for the next 2 days or so. Weight after 2 months - 162.6 lbs! I'm on week 7 of 5mg and the nausea is basically gone. Weight hasn't changed for the last week."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am one week in and on the 2.5 dose. I was really afraid to start because I didn’t want to get hypoglycemia, which is something I have dealt with my whole life. (I’m not diabetic and do not take insulin, I think I just have plenty of insulin.) But I did it and am so happy I did! I am down 4 lbs in one week and have had minimal side effects. I am eating much less, and food noise is almost gone. I’m excited to keep on going! For reference, I am a 59-year-old woman, 5’ 4”, and my starting weight was 192. So far, this is like a miracle! I highly recommend it if you can get it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm a 53-year-old male and my weight has gone up slowly with each passing year, so the ladies at my doctor's office were telling me how they all were losing weight by taking the Mounjaro shots. I was a little bit worried at first because of the thought of having to give myself a shot. I barely felt it, so I started out on the 2.5 shots, and the only side effect I got was the burping sulfur taste. This is the absolute best thing I could have done, it's lowered my blood pressure, and I'm off the meds for that. I sleep better and feel healthier, the only bad thing is my clothes don't fit. I'm feeling better about myself. I'm now on the 10mgs, but each month I went up to a stronger dose, but I'm going to stay with the 10s as a maintenance shot. I don't feel hungry at all, I have no cravings, I have to make myself eat, and when I do eat, it's just a little bit at a time. You don't want to overeat on this or you will be sorry. I highly recommend it. A big thanks to the makers of Mounjaro. I've lost 40 pounds in 4 months."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I currently have renal failure. I needed a kidney and pancreas. I was on the list for both. I did all my workups, even a triple bypass. My doctor put me on Mounjaro because of my heart surgery and diabetes. The Mounjaro worked so well it fixed my pancreas, and now I’m just on the list for a kidney. The side effects of using it were a little diarrhea and weight loss. I was 300-plus pounds, now I am under 160. Plus, I am no longer needing insulin for my diabetes. It’s practically gone."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was prescribed Mounjaro for weight loss. I took my first 2.5mg dose on Friday, 9/16. Today is Sunday, two days later, and I have yet to feel anything different. I don’t feel full, and there’s no lack of desire to eat. I feel the same as I always have. I wonder if I did the shot right. I don’t know, maybe it takes a moment to kick in. I see people saying they lost weight in the first week, I’m not sure how that’s possible if I don’t have appetite suppression. I guess time will tell."

I have been on the diet and workout train for the last 24 years, but nothing worked to lose a significant amount of weight. I did take one medication that worked temporarily years ago but left me feeling like trash, and once I was finished, the weight came back and then some. I have lost 90 lbs on Mounjaro over the last 14 months. Yes, my eating did improve because it quieted the food noise. I no longer starve myself throughout the day and then binge. Mounjaro has truly changed my life. I was giving up hope and falling into depression because nothing worked, and I didn't want to risk my life with surgery. "I started Mounjaro on July 1, 2022. I just turned 74 and was at the end of my rope with my obesity. I immediately developed a sour stomach/nausea and heartburn. But the wonderful side effect of having no appetite and not obsessing about food EVERY WAKING MOMENT was worth it. I still enjoy food, just eat less than half what I used to and no snacking. I lost 30 pounds in 2 months. I take one more injection (totally painless and easy to give) of 7.5 mg and then move up to 10 mg. My worst problem is terrible constipation. I’m working on it by using Colace, etc. but haven’t solved it completely. Since I’m on Medicare, I am paying THOUSANDS of dollars for this drug. So my savings account is decreasing but so is my weight. If I can afford it, I hope to stay on Mounjaro for one year. I still go to Weight Watchers and live by their eating plan which is very healthy."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am just starting this process. It has been 2 1/2 weeks on 2.5 ml. I have lost 9 lbs. I'm 55 years old, 5'7", 182 starting weight. Menopause kicked my butt, I could never lose more than 5 lbs. Negative side effects: headaches (which I've been prone to or sensitive to in the past), sometimes several times a day. I had mild diarrhea the first week and am now one week in with constipation. Mounjaro seemed to reduce my internal stomach size enormously. I don't have to remind myself to eat, like other people have said, but my body is on a delay and feels full 90 percent of the time - like I don't wake up ready for breakfast, it takes two hours to want to eat. What I do eat is a fraction of what I used to eat. For example, a small soup is plenty for lunch, yogurt for breakfast. It's definitely working for me, very happy. For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have never had anything like this in my life! I was always small and IBW until I went through menopause. Afterward, I gained weight regardless of what I did. Nothing I tried and no program I did helped. Once I reached a size 22 on my 5'4 frame and weighed almost 230 lb, I decided to do something else. By this time, I had also become 'pre-diabetic' and was insulin resistant. I have been on Mounjaro for 7 months and am now a size 8, down 65 pounds. My blood sugars are perfect, and I feel like my old self again! The journey has been effortless, and I enjoy the foods I like, but my body metabolizes it better. I have now switched to Wegovy since insurance only covers Mounjaro if you are diabetic. I would stay on it forever, but cannot continue to pay almost $1,100.00/month for it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have type 2 diabetes, along with lupus SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative joint and disc disease. I was morbidly obese, and my diabetes was out of control. I was on two types of insulin, steadily gaining weight. My doctor mentioned Mounjaro 5 mg 2 years ago, and I started. In about 8 months, I had lost maybe 60 lb, but my blood sugar was still in the sevens. He moved me up to 7.5, it became hard to find, so we went on up to 10 mg. Over the course of 18 months, I have lost 145 lb! My blood sugar ranges from 5 to 5.7. It has come to the point now that my doctor is dropping me back down on the dose because I have lost so much weight. I have not had one single side effect or problem. I know medicines don't work for everyone, but this worked fantastically for me! I am no longer on any type of insulin or diabetes medication except 7.5 mg Mounjaro once a week. I am 5 ft 10 in and started at 295 lb. Two years later, I am 148 lb and feel so much better!"

For Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "Second week, as of yesterday, no side effects other than not sleeping well the first couple of nights after injecting. I’ve lost close to 5 lbs in the first week. I’ve been reading that if you experience insomnia it is because of the rapid weight loss and to try and change the time of injection. I did it at 6 PM both last Tuesday and yesterday, next Tuesday I’m doing it in the morning. The key for me if not having the side effects that many people experience is that I have been eating clean before starting the medication and continue to eat clean as well as having a high-protein meal 45 minutes to an hour prior to injection. We’ll see how it goes next week when I inject in the morning instead of the evening."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Mounjaro 2.5 mg on September 6th, weighing in at 128 kilos. I'm now on my 7th shot of 10 mg (as I stayed on 10 mg for another month over Christmas) and I weigh 106 kilos in January. This is without changing my lifestyle of exercise or food. I eat smaller portions and don't think about food half as much as I used to. It's been great up until my 6th shot of 10 mg. I would experience mild side effects of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps. These tended to be spread across the board as well though, never all at the same time, and it was manageable. However, my 6th dose I felt instantly! I was nauseous for 3 days straight, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps, tired, the list is endless. I was so worn out by the nausea, I couldn't sleep, eat, or drink. I took myself to the walk-in center at the hospital where they referred me straight to A&E for having a resting heart rate of 128 bpm. I was put on an IV drip, bloods taken. I felt awful and still do! Going to go back to 7.5 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My endo doctor asked me to try the shot. At first, I said no. But she convinced me that we could get my A1C down. It was just under 9 at that time. I started the shot the 2nd week of October 2024. The first 2 months, it was just feeling nauseous. That was 2.5 mg. Here it is March 2025, I've lost 46 lbs. That to me is great. I had no idea about the weight loss when I started! Latest blood work, A1C is 6.4!! I now don't have to take Januvia or glipizide. Another plus! I am now on 7.5 mg. The only thing I've noticed, well, 2 things: I've developed eczema, bad. Currently waiting for my dermatology appointment. The other problem is depression. At least that is my thought, I've not had any ambition or 'get up and go,' which could be from the increase to 7.5 mg. I'm going to stick with it though. I'll stay at my current dose for a couple of months. I'm very happy with my morning finger pokes, I've been 92 to 103 every morning. Very pleased with the medication!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro to help control my blood sugar. I had tried Ozempic and Trulicity and could not tolerate the nausea, sulfur burps, and stomach issues. Mounjaro has been life-changing. No bad side effects. I’m not hungry, I don’t have cravings, I’m losing weight steadily, and sweet desserts taste too sweet. Many people say they’ve had bad side effects with it. I say try it as it may work for you. Just like I couldn’t use other meds that other people love. For me, it has been life-altering."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I originally started the Zepbound shot at the end of this past January. I weighed a total of 202 lbs when I started it. That would be about 3-4 months ago. I was very self-conscious, I didn't want to take any pictures of myself, I felt disgusted by myself, I always brought myself down, etc. But now, now I weigh 154 lbs. I'm at the 10 mg of the Zepbound. I started off as the lowest and I'm still not at the highest, to be honest. I lost about 50 pounds in the last 4 months! I researched it and it'll take 16 months to lose about 50 pounds for a normal person who doesn't take anything. And I did it in 4 months with that shot! I never thought I would get to this weight, to be honest. In the beginning, I was going to the YMCA to work out every week to put in the extra work, etc. At first, I started losing like a pound a day, not even kidding, sometimes 2 lbs a day. "Started with 2.5, been on it nearly three weeks, anticipated side effects but other than mild constipation, I experienced none. My appetite was nonexistent, had to remember to eat. Night eating gone, overeating gone, strong cravings gone. Injection easy peasy. Coupon only way I could afford this med (25/mo versus over 1k/mo). No feeling weird like stimulants, just pretty normal. I'm pairing with intermittent fasting per my GP and trying to incorporate intuitive eating as much as possible. I am not counting calories or weighing myself but I am likely down 5-10# in 2 weeks combo of water weight and loss. Bloat gone, body feels good, excited to see if this keeps working this well."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Ten days on Zepbound. Love this medication. The energy it gives you is amazing. 1st day injection in thigh developed bruise and slight nausea and headache. But no biggie. 2nd shot belly super easy. Takes away urge to eat. No more stomach grumbling when hungry either. I have a protein shake in the morning, mid-morning protein bar, little bites throughout the morning. Small lunch and salmon or chicken for dinner. Veggies and fruit are important. No issue with bathroom. I take a fiber gummy and multivitamin daily. Treadmill and gym. After showering, I've been using lots of lotion on skin, massaging in. You'll be fine. Smart choices in foods. Yogurt gave me nausea as did tuna with mayonnaise. 6 lbs so far."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am 6ft and started at 213lbs. Blood sugars were a little elevated and I could see they were headed in the wrong direction. I also have severe sleep apnea. I started at 7.5 and just finished my fourth week. This drug is amazing. I’m down 24 lbs in 28 days. Lost 4 lbs last week. Current weight is 189lb. Goal is 175lb. I check my blood sugar 2 or 3 times a day. My highest reading was 101 about an hour after eating. Most readings in the low 80s which is perfect. I couldn’t have asked for more from this drug. Side effects are constipation (drink lots of water) and tired the day after the shot. I’ve been slightly overweight my entire life. I hope to lose this weight and then see if the sleep apnea goes away. Life changing."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’m a 6’4", 275-pound male, 62 years old - no diabetes or health issues, on no other meds. Obtained prescription via Dr. and took the first 2.5 mg injection on Dec. 24. Lost 10 pounds with the first 3 shots, then Dr. said I could go to 5 mg (saved the last 2.5 mg pen for future use) because weight loss had stopped. After starting 5 mg, lost 2 pounds in 2 days - so combined weight loss using 2.5/5 mg is now at 12 pounds in six weeks! No significant or terrible side effects except some constipation, intermittent fatigue, and minor chills at times (not a lot - could just be the cold weather). I've yo-yoed up and down with weight for years. Because of my size, I can eat a lot of food - but this drug has significantly reduced my appetite, and I have more energy overall. I can’t wait to see the results in a few more months. Zepbound has so far been perfect for me. I don’t mind the $550 price (with the Lilly savings card - has been hard to get CVS to make it work, but that’s another story/nightmare)."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "It's too early to say that Mounjaro has been life-changing, but it is certainly trending that way. My first week was a huge drop in water weight; I lost about 11 pounds. Weeks 2-4 it slowed a bit, and I'm down about another 5 lbs. I'll be starting the 5 mg tomorrow. 16 lbs in my first month is pretty darn good, I'd say. Very little side effects thus far: severe nausea, but it's fleeting; it sticks around for 30-60 seconds then disappears, occurring every two or three days. In terms of how I feel, the changes have been subtle but definitely noticeable. My appetite is absolutely gone for the first 48 hours after injection, then comes back gradually. By the 5th or 6th day, I'm thinking about food again on a regular basis. I do feel that I have more energy, and my willingness to do even small household tasks seems to be higher than it has in a couple of years. Everything just seems like less of a burden. I started at 441 lbs, and am hopeful I can get back to around 300 eventually."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Absolutely life-changing. For the first time in my life, I'm satisfied by reasonable portions. I'm not always thinking about the next thing that I'll be eating. I'm able to feel and respond to my actual hunger cues without my scarcity brain taking over. Even if I wasn't losing weight, the relief of food obsession and binge eating disorder would be worth it. Four weeks in, down 13 lbs and very satisfied. Only side effect has been feeling cold and some mild constipation."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was started on Trulicity in Nov. 2018. Because of manufacturing difficulties, it was discontinued for Rybelsus in 2023, but switched to Mounjaro in late 2023, which has been very easy to take and manage. My A1c went from over 10 points to now 6.1. I have also lost a total of 40 lbs. I wish GLP-1s were available years ago, but am thrilled with my overall results. I am 72 years old and will probably be on Mounjaro the rest of my life. Thank you for this medication regimen."
