For Type 2 Diabetes "I usually don’t share reviews but felt this was warranted. I took my first 2.5 mg shot on 9/4, felt fine until 9/7 when the terrible sulfur burps started followed by sour stomach and nausea. Around 10 pm that night, I began 5 days of severe vomiting and diarrhea, which culminated yesterday at the ER getting fluids, CT scans, and IV nausea meds. I will not be taking this shot again. I have not thrown up anymore, but the diarrhea will just not stop. I can’t eat or take any of my other medication properly. Beware. When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. I’m a past user of Byetta, Victoza, Ozempic, Trulicity, Rybelsus, Bydureon, all the pills, and about every homeopathic treatment ever made. I didn’t take this shot like a blind fool, but I have never had a side effect as terrible as this one. I’ll stick with my insulin. At least I can function like a normal human being!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started with this medication for weight loss, and since I am 58 and a diabetic, my insurance covered it. It is a fantastic weight loss drug for me. Starting at 5'6, 242 lbs, I've lost 23 pounds in 12 weeks. I don't remember when I was able to lose this much weight. I've dieted my whole life and finally gave up and ballooned to 242 lbs. You have to be careful about eating greasy food and not overeating. I did vomit a few times after eating greasy food. Other than that, I'm so excited. My first goal is to get to 180 and see what happens. My feet no longer hurt when I stand all shift."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on Mounjaro for 2 months. I had side effects of lower back pain, increased thirst, and decreased urine output. I increased my fluid intake, cut out all sugary drinks and foods. I could barely eat. I was on 5 mg. I woke on 1/16/2023 vomiting black coffee-like grounds. I went to the ER that afternoon and was admitted. After many labs and scans, I found out my liver was in shock. All liver enzymes were elevated. I am talking 1100 numbers elevated from what the normal is, 40 ish. My liver was on the way to shutting down. My body was shutting down. I also had a GI BLEED. Do not take this medication. There is not enough information!!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I completed 4 weeks on 2.5 mg with zero side effects, other than the intended appetite suppression and lost 10 pounds. HOWEVER, after my second week at 5mg, I'm not sure I can continue. I've had awful nausea, vomiting, sulfur burps, and diarrhea, to the point I had to go to the ER for IV fluids and potassium. Zofran, Phenergan, Tums, and Pepto have zero effect. I can barely function, but hey, I'm down a total of 17 lbs in 6 weeks, so at least I'll look skinny for my next trip to the ER."

It takes a couple of weeks, at most, to get through the psychological part of less appetite/less food. You get full quickly, and yet you feel like you still want to eat because your mind is telling you, 'how can you be full already, you've only had 4 bites?' For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Mounjaro 2.5 mg on September 6th, weighing in at 128 kilos. I'm now on my 7th shot of 10 mg (as I stayed on 10 mg for another month over Christmas) and I weigh 106 kilos in January. This is without changing my lifestyle of exercise or food. I eat smaller portions and don't think about food half as much as I used to. It's been great up until my 6th shot of 10 mg. I would experience mild side effects of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps. These tended to be spread across the board as well though, never all at the same time, and it was manageable. However, my 6th dose I felt instantly! I was nauseous for 3 days straight, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps, tired, the list is endless. I was so worn out by the nausea, I couldn't sleep, eat, or drink. I took myself to the walk-in center at the hospital where they referred me straight to A&E for having a resting heart rate of 128 bpm. I was put on an IV drip, bloods taken. I felt awful and still do! Going to go back to 7.5 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Mounjaro on 9/1. This resulted in the very worst month of my life. WEEK ONE - Super Nauseous, indigestion, stomach pain for 3-4 days of the first week. My appetite went from a 10 to a 2 (which was good). WEEK TWO - I had diarrhea for 3-4 days, along with sulfur belches, nausea, stomach pain. I ended up having to take sick days and go get an IV bag to recover from the dehydration. WEEK THREE - World-class nausea and vomiting. 3 days of vomiting so hard that I ruptured my esophagus. The entire month, if I was not having diarrhea, I was VERY constipated. I lost 9 lbs in one month, but I don't know if it was because I could barely eat due to the sickness. PASS!!"

For Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I take my second 2.5 mg Zepbound tomorrow. I am so impressed so far with this med. I am in my 60s and have tried dieting with initial success and then rebound. I swim and use an elliptical, which makes me feel good but has not helped me lose weight. This is a different experience. Like others say, it turns off the craving 'noise', you feel full all the time, and food is no longer the enemy. I have been eating fruits and veggies, chicken, beef, and eggs. Cottage cheese tastes great for the first time and is a great small meal. I drink water with sliced lemons, which tastes great and is satisfying. I have never been much of a water drinker, but now that is all I want other than tea and coffee. I have probably lost about 2 lbs so far as my always bloated belly is flattening, though I have a long way to go. I have had a few mild headaches and vomited on night three, otherwise, no side effects. I'm all in!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started at the 2.5 level and lost some weight (15 lbs.). Sugars are down as well. Greasy foods are not recommended. Went to the 5.0 level and everything dairy went bad... sours on the stomach badly and quickly. Ate too much one night and got very ill, vomiting and diarrhea all night along with serious gas from both ends! I don't like that I can't have my dairy, even tried Lactaid to no avail. Also, there seems to be a metallic taste in my mouth most of the time."

I’m disappointed that my stomach and vomiting were so severe that it was not worth the risk. In a 3-week period, I had to go to the emergency room twice. For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started out great. Moved to 5.0 and had AWFUL vomiting on day 3 after injection. Dr. tried to move me back to 2.5 but Rx store was unable to get it. Went 5 weeks before it was restocked. Started 2.5 again with 0 effect. And I mean zero. Moved to 5.0 and the nausea is there, but so far, no vomiting. What concerns me is that I have suddenly been struggling with an elevated pulse and higher than normal BP. Wasn't an issue before, so not sure if it's related or incidental. May stop it because I just don't feel good. In addition over the 5 months of on and off again, I am down 4 pounds...and following a reasonable diet plan. Discouraged."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor recommended Mounjaro. I objected because of previous experience with side effects from Byetta, Victoza, and Trulicity. He said the side effects were mild. I agreed to try 2.5, that was a horrible decision! My heart rate elevated, pulse and blood pressure increased, couldn’t eat, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of sense of balance. Went to the doctor 2 days later, and I was so dehydrated I required 2 1/2 bags of IV solution to help me drive home. I can’t remember ever being so sick. I will never take it again or recommend it to anyone!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro 7 weeks ago. The first shot made me so nauseous and have such bad abdominal pain that lasted for 12 hours. I almost went to the ER. I told my doctor about my experience, and she gave me Zofran and told me to continue dieting. Fast forward to this weekend - took my shot on Friday morning, then spent all day Saturday and Sunday projectile vomiting (it literally ended up about 7 feet from where I was standing), uncontrollable diarrhea, disgusting sulfur burps, horrible heartburn, and dizziness. Finally, I decided to go to the ER and got treated for dehydration. They told me to follow up with my primary doctor to talk about the best way to continue the medication. After this experience, I am NEVER taking this drug again. While I've lost 25 lbs in the past 7 weeks, I believe it's mostly because I've been afraid to eat anything. I will continue to eat healthy and cut carbs and sugars, but I won't be taking Mounjaro again."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "You do lose weight, but the waves of nausea, vomiting, severe constipation, and hypoglycemia are so unpleasant, and if you escalate and find it too much - it lasts for a whole week. Consider liraglutide daily, much easier to titrate, and if you escalate and find it too much, you can lower down and only have one day of downtime."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Zepbound at 2.5. My weight was 249 and I'm 5'2''. I've lost 34 lbs starting in July. I went up to 7.5 and was doing great. Then the third dose, all the side effects started in spades. I started vomiting, no appetite, tired all the time. I drink water all the time (and I'm a reformed soda drinker). I'm suddenly itchy all the time. The weight loss has slowed down. But I'm not giving up in order to get my knee replacement. This comment section makes me feel like I'm not alone. For Type 2 Diabetes "In the two doses, my blood sugar has been lower, my appetite has diminished, and I had no side effects. At the end of the second week (Saturday), I woke up during the night with stomach pain, diarrhea, and belching. After 6 hours, I finally vomited up undigested food that had been in my stomach for over 12 hours. It looked like I had just eaten. I avoided all food until Sunday morning, eating 1/2 of a plain English muffin. I had Lipton chicken soup, a piece of Bavarian pretzel, and a few french fries (picking from my wife’s meal). Monday, I finally felt hungry and had a Whopper Jr. (not a good choice I know), and Tuesday I woke up with food sitting in my stomach and one diarrhea BM. NOTE: I have not taken dose #3, nor do I plan to. This is slowing my digestion down too much. I have never had digestive issues, and I’m not going to start now."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic 2 mg since it came out. When I couldn't get it due to shortage, I was prescribed Mounjaro 5 mg. Five days after eating my one meal a day, I intermittent fast, and I started vomiting. I spent the whole night throwing up every half hour. I figured it was a side effect and hoped I would improve. I had stomach and back pain, weakness, and was unable to eat. I was in bed until I had to get up and sit due to pain, sleeping off and on. I could only drink water. I got worse and finally, five days later, had my husband drive me to the ER. I know I should have gone sooner. I didn't take a second shot. I had a CAT scan and was told I had a bowel obstruction, and I would be admitted and there for a few days. If they couldn't resolve it through a tube down my nose, I would have surgery. Luckily, it was resolved by the nasal tube, but it was awful. My medical care pharmacist told me to try Mounjaro 2.5 mg. I was worried but did it. I didn't get nausea, but I had all these other side effects. I quit taking it."

I’ve barely kept any food down except for a day and a half before my second shot. I can’t find a way to prevent acute nausea, and the vomiting is now making me weak. I knew there would be side effects, but for me, this medication doesn’t work for my body. I chose to discontinue the medication and will work with my doctor to see what other options may work for me. I have been unable to participate in family and home life, feeling trapped between being so sick I can’t leave my bed and spending a lot of time vomiting or feeling like I will if I try to move or drink water. For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on 2.5 dosages for several weeks. I felt a little nauseous but was losing weight and very happy. I was not waking up in the middle of the night feeling hungry. When I went to refill my next prescription, all the pharmacy had was 12.5 mg, so I agreed to try. Huge mistake. I have severe nausea, felt like I have the flu, can't stay awake, and body aches are ridiculous. I projectile vomited what looks like coffee grounds, I have awful sulfuric burps, and can't even keep down sips of water. I've missed 2 days of work thus far and have to have someone come to my house tomorrow to give me an IV because I'm too scared to drive. Not worth it at all."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started out on the 2.5 for 2 months and lost 15 lbs, and my A1C dropped from 6.7 to 6.0. Mild side effect symptoms of abdominal pain and nausea. I started the 5 mg and had explosive diarrhea and uncontrollable vomiting, with abdominal and back pain. My blood pressure dropped to 88/55. I had to stop taking the Mounjaro. After 3 weeks, I am starting to feel normal again. Sorry it didn’t work for me. It did curb the appetite."
