For Birth Control "I said I would write my experience, good or bad. I am about to start my 3rd pack tomorrow, making it month 3. I have had some breakthrough bleeding when I near the inactive pills. Other than the bleeding, I have had absolutely no side effects. I was previously on a combination pill, and it was making me absolutely mental, and my diastolic blood pressure was high, so I was taken off it and put on this. Drospirenone is somehow related to spironolactone, a blood pressure medication that is used off-label to treat patients with acne. It works by suppressing the hormones that overproduce sebum (oil). Anyone complaining of acne probably isn't getting it from this pill. I suffer from anxiety from time to time and really have not been having any since taking this pill. Combination pills made me have anxiety. The best advice I can give is to try this. Every person is different, and in my experience, people are more likely to write a review when they have a bad experience. Don't let these reviews scare you."

For Birth Control "I’m on month 4 of Slynd and was prescribed this due to extremely heavy/painful periods and anemia. I’m in my late 40s and have had these issues since I was a teenager. Over the years, I have tried nearly every birth control pill available and stopped each due to varying side effects (migraines, mood swings, bloating/weight gain - you name it). I was hesitant to try yet another BC pill and was actually going into my doctor to talk about getting a hysterectomy just to be able to get my quality of life back. I agreed to give this a try first since it doesn’t have any estrogen. In the first 2 months, I had significant breakthrough bleeding (I think I bled for three weeks straight). That said, I am so glad that I stuck it out… Starting the third month all of the spotting and bleeding went away, and I have had virtually no side effects since then. Add to that, my period has pretty much disappeared over the past couple of months which is amazing. So glad I gave this a try. Life-changing."

For Birth Control "I have tried almost every pill out there and have had side effects that I didn’t want to live with. My last hope was Slynd. While I had a lot of breakthrough bleeding in the beginning because I was switching from a combination pill, everything worked itself out by the third month. It’s important to give your body time to adjust! My mood is so much better on Slynd with a lot less anxiety and depression. I feel more energized and lost 8 pounds! I have some cramps but other than that I can’t complain. I also noticed less PMS symptoms. It’s a good option for those that don’t do well on the combined pill. I love that it is more forgiving than other POPs and I can be a little late and not have to panic. Also, my insurance didn’t cover it so I am using a coupon and am able to get three packs for $70."

For Birth Control "I am getting off of this Slynd pill. I cannot take any pills with estrogen, and most progesterone-only pills are too weak for me, so my doctor and I thought this one would be a good fit. I had light bleeding for the first three weeks, but it wasn't too bad. A few weeks into taking it I started to have a lot of emotional/mental health issues. I'd cry at the drop of a hat, get angry very easily, and then it turned into significant anxiety and depression. I also wanted to eat constantly. I do struggle with anxiety normally, but usually not to this extent. I am not myself on this pill. I've had difficulty getting out of bed, thinking rational thoughts, etc. I am sure it can work well for others, but maybe not for people who already struggle with anxiety."

For Birth Control "I'm currently on my third month of taking Slynd and I would NEVER recommend this drug to anyone. I have been on birth control for 15 years and I have tried at least 10 different ones in that amount of time. I have never experienced symptoms as bad as I have on this. I was put on it because my BP at the gyno was slightly high that day (not normally high) so she wouldn't give me a refill of Sprintec. The first month I didn't get a period at all, which was concerning for me since I prefer to have a period so I know I'm not pregnant. The second period was a few days late, however, I have now been heavily bleeding for 16 days and it doesn't appear as though it's going to stop anytime soon. I cramp all the time and my legs have started to cramp too (assuming that's from blood loss). I'm on the 2nd week of the third pack and I'm still bleeding from last month's period. The only reason this pill is effective at preventing pregnancy is because you can't have sex ever while you're taking it!"

For Birth Control "I decided to get on birth control pills because my periods were so heavy I became very anemic. I can’t do IUDs as my body rejects them, so I did some research and found Slynd. I’m so thankful I did! This pill has been amazing! I don’t have any major side effects whatsoever and I haven’t had a period since the first month where I did have some breakthrough bleeding but wasn’t heavy, but nothing since then. I take my inactive pills, have had minor cramping, and that’s it, no period. This has made my life so much better, finally getting my iron back up, feeling great! So happy I found something that works well for me."

For Birth Control "I was switched to Slynd from a combination pill in November 2021 after developing a huge blood clot in my left leg. I had been on a combination pill since I was 15, now 49. I suffered all my life from excessive heavy bleeding and pain. This pill has been amazing. It took a good 6 months or so to get my body used to it. I did have breakthrough bleeding, but nothing as bad as what I'd had all my life. My GP advised me to not take the inactive pills to help reduce the breakthrough bleeding. I get a period about once or twice a year, very, very light compared to what I was used to. No pain, no bloating, and I've had no weight gain. I wish this pill had been around 30 years ago."

For Birth Control "Don't take this pill. Everyone on here has complained about the bleeding, which has also happened to me, but there are other unexplainable side effects that this pill has. I started taking it four months ago and during that time there was only one week when I didn't have my period. Constantly spotting and full bleeding 24/7. Besides the bleeding, this pill really messes with your mind and changes your mood. I have been irrationally angry since beginning this pill. I'm easily annoyed, agitated, and frustrated all the time. This led to a disruption in most of my relationships. This pill also made me extremely fatigued to the point where walking up the stairs became a full workout (and for context, I'm only 22, walking shouldn't be difficult for me). Also, this pill says nothing about weight gain, but I have gained 11.5 lbs since taking it. Don't take it."

For Birth Control "I have been on Slynd for four months. I am taking it for PCOS after taking the mini pill (Norethindrone) with terrible side effects and the shot. I am so grateful for Slynd. The first few months I dealt with light, sometimes medium breakthrough bleeding. Nothing severe or intolerable, which stopped in my fourth pack. Slight cramping as well in the first two months which has subsided as well. No other side effects, so far at least, so I’m glad for that. I have regulated and it has lessened the severity of my cycle as far as heaviness and pain. I am thankful I stuck with this and didn’t let the breakthrough bleeding and cramps steer me away. Slynd has been a godsend considering how severe other BC side effects have treated me. I recommend anyone suffering from PCOS to at least give this a real shot. I was so hesitant to begin another BC because of my past experiences, but I am definitely sticking with this one."

For Birth Control "Let me start off by saying, so far this pill has been the best type of birth control I have ever had. When I first started birth control I was younger and couldn't remember to take the pills. I was put on birth control to stop the heavy periods that were putting me in the hospital. Then I switched to Depo because it was easier to remember. I was on Depo for 6 years (horrible idea, wouldn't recommend). I was having so many issues with Depo (mood swings, weight gain, and excessive bleeding). So, my gynecologist switched me to Slynd, mainly because my mother had estrogen-fed breast cancer twice. Let me just tell you, the first two weeks of my new birth control I dropped 10 pounds. I have been on it 6 months now and I have lost 38 pounds since I switched. My moods are so much better. I am so much happier now and my sex drive has picked up also. I have no issue with bleeding too much, my periods last probably 3 days."

For Birth Control "I’m here to throw some positivity into a sea of negativity because typically people with a bad experience are more likely to leave a review than those with a good one. I started Slynd in December 2020 immediately following the removal of the Kyleena IUD. I wasn’t getting periods with the IUD, and that continued with the pill. I struggled with debilitating pelvic pain and insane bloating both before that IUD and during. Slynd saved me, bloating is minimal, pelvic pain is virtually gone (I was getting ready to set up a laparoscopy for endometriosis, so I’m glad this worked for now, even if it’s only masking it). I have no weight gain. I am also a weirdo and have the clearest skin of my life with this (I also did with the IUDs, and I know that’s not the norm). I am now having irregular bleeding every once in a while, but only from a new med I started. I have tried both Kyleena and Mirena, the Depo shot, and a few different combo pills and not liked all of them, so it’s shocking that I like this pill so much."

For Birth Control "First week of pills of Slynd and already heavy bleeding. Please tell me it will get better. I've read others' experiences, and I have a hard time accepting 10 days of bleeding. How do you all have sexual relationships with blood flow all the time? I'm not a prude, but ruining sheets and towels is not my fetish."

For Birth Control "I wanted to see how everyone else that has still been on Slynd has fared? I just started my first month on this and started bleeding more than spotting for sure the second week into this pack. It hasn’t really let up! I called the doctor's office and they just said breakthrough bleeding and spotting can be normal and just try and continue. It’s really discouraging as I don’t want to experience this bleeding for the next two months or so to adjust to it. Has anyone else had their bleeding in between improve at all? I’m getting frustrated! I also have some light cramps, otherwise, nothing else, but the bleeding is very frustrating. Hoping it’s normal!"

For Birth Control "Slynd is the **ONLY** non-estrogen pill available in the US that works for me! In many other countries, you can get Desogestrel, which for me is very similar. No breakthrough bleeding and, of course, no weird estrogen side effects with either. I've tried a bunch of different B/C for my PMDD, and this is by far the best one, though I still have symptoms, unfortunately. I was extremely binge-y and gained so much weight with estrogen-containing pills. I lost the extra weight, and this pill works well now."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Slynd due to an underlying heart condition. The first month I took it, 10/10, no complaints whatsoever. It even made my period nearly nonexistent. Unfortunately, my second month on it has been torture. I have had breakthrough bleeding every single day, nonstop. My skin was just about perfect before I switched to this pill, now it is absolutely horrible. Every day I wake up with around 5 new breakouts, and nothing is seeming to help it. It is turning into cystic acne, I think. I cry at the drop of a pin. If someone looks at me the wrong way or makes a joke that I didn't find funny, instant tears. I have noticed slight weight loss on this pill, which I am not too angry about. I am hoping to switch off of this pill and go back to combination pills ASAP. Although my gyno recommended that I wait to finish at least 3 months' worth, which I am dreading. If you don't mind acne, constant spotting, and unexpected crying, this is the pill for you!"

For Birth Control "I have been trying different BC pills every four months for the last five or so years. I’ve finally found the one that works for me is Slynd, and I’m at my lowest weight I’ve ever been. No side effects at all, except for continuous bleeding for the first two weeks. I skip placebos and haven’t had a period at all in six months (I skipped all of my placebos including my first packs, not Dr. recommended, but it didn’t have any negative effect). I took one month off all birth control before starting Slynd, and I feel exactly the same as if I wasn’t taking anything at all, except my skin is clearer and again, no periods. This won’t work for everyone, but I was about to give up altogether. Estrogen was the problem for me, now that it’s gone, I have never felt so “together” and happy."

For Birth Control "My gyn gave me 4 packs of this pill for free. Goal was to prevent pregnancy but also to get some relief from heavy monthly bleeding/cramps. I’m on pack 4 and still have breakthrough bleeding, it just happens unexpectedly and can last a week or more. Cramps have improved and haven’t gotten pregnant, but I’ve had major cystic acne and dry eyes, so they’re bloodshot all the time. No weight gain, which is a plus. I feel like a guinea pig since this pill was literally just approved by the FDA, and there are no patient reviews to be found. Not sure if I will continue taking it, I can only imagine what the monthly price will be on a brand new pill on the market with no generic available."

For Birth Control "I unfortunately did not have a good experience with Slynd. I bled significantly for the 3.5 months I was on it. It was originally prescribed to help with my migraines but was not successful. I stopped a few weeks ago because it wasn't worth it for me. I wish there were more reviews when I started this, so I hope my review is helpful to others."

For Birth Control "Slynd is my fourth go at birth control and, without a doubt, the best. I cannot take estrogen due to migraines with aura, and I tried the implant, shots, and the only other progesterone-only pill on the market before this one. All left me with heavy, unpredictable bleeding. I’ve been on it for 7 months (I started right when it became available), and my spotting has gotten consistently better every month (I have about 10 consecutive days of moderate bleeding per month). Slynd is my savior, you guys!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for about a year. I'm insanely frustrated with the constant bleeding. I actually ended up Googling it because, although my doc insists that breakthrough bleeding is normal, I'm over it. I skipped one month when my husband wasn't home anyway and didn't have any issues with my cycle. I had my period this month for about 8 days. Once I finally stopped bleeding, I was able to have sex for about 4 days before I started bleeding again, and this time it's been almost 2 weeks of breakthrough bleeding and clot passing. It gets lighter some days, and I think it's almost over, and then BAM it's heavy again. Not to mention the insane and constant low back cramps and what feels like ovarian cysts or something, I'm constantly taking ibuprofen and Tylenol for the back pain."

For Birth Control "I have been on Slynd for a few months now, probably around 7 months. My previous birth control pill gave me crazy mood swings and made my depression and anxiety worse, as well as making me extremely irritable. The first three months on Slynd were way better than my previous pill; however, I would experience spotting days or over a week before even taking the placebo pills. About 5 months in, I experienced breakthrough bleeding for 3 weeks. After that, it all went downhill. I find that at the end of the second week of my pack, my depression and anxiety hit an all-time high. Intense mood swings of high anxiety and vicious sadness hit and last until I take my placebos. Every pill affects everyone differently, but if you have a history of depression, anxiety, etc., you may want to use a different pill; I would not recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "I have been on BC pills in the past, I have always felt super nauseous and literally felt pregnant. I just had a baby 4 months ago, and my OB put me on SLYND right at my 6-week postpartum checkup. I have PCOS and suspected endo as well. He said this shouldn't make me feel ill. The first month was good, except I had breakthrough bleeding. I am now ending month 3 and going on BC permanently. My sex drive, which has always been extremely high and never affected on other pills, is literally at a 0! I am constantly bleeding, periods are SUPER horrible. I am nauseous every single morning that I wake up and have headaches all day. I also feel super moody, tired, and my 'always low' blood pressure seems to be on the rise. This just was not for me."
