For Birth Control "I said I would write my experience, good or bad. I am about to start my 3rd pack tomorrow, making it month 3. I have had some breakthrough bleeding when I near the inactive pills. Other than the bleeding, I have had absolutely no side effects. I was previously on a combination pill, and it was making me absolutely mental, and my diastolic blood pressure was high, so I was taken off it and put on this. Drospirenone is somehow related to spironolactone, a blood pressure medication that is used off-label to treat patients with acne. It works by suppressing the hormones that overproduce sebum (oil). Anyone complaining of acne probably isn't getting it from this pill. I suffer from anxiety from time to time and really have not been having any since taking this pill. Combination pills made me have anxiety. The best advice I can give is to try this. Every person is different, and in my experience, people are more likely to write a review when they have a bad experience. Don't let these reviews scare you."

For Birth Control "I have tried almost every pill out there and have had side effects that I didn’t want to live with. My last hope was Slynd. While I had a lot of breakthrough bleeding in the beginning because I was switching from a combination pill, everything worked itself out by the third month. It’s important to give your body time to adjust! My mood is so much better on Slynd with a lot less anxiety and depression. I feel more energized and lost 8 pounds! I have some cramps but other than that I can’t complain. I also noticed less PMS symptoms. It’s a good option for those that don’t do well on the combined pill. I love that it is more forgiving than other POPs and I can be a little late and not have to panic. Also, my insurance didn’t cover it so I am using a coupon and am able to get three packs for $70."

"Life changer. Wow. Before I started taking Slynd just over six months ago, the two weeks leading up to my period were so intense that I made a calendar entry for that time called “PRE-P!!” as a reminder not to make any important decisions or have critical conversations until my period came due to my increasingly insane mood swings. My period itself was super heavy with debilitating cramps, so I was basically left with about a week of relief each month, which sucked. This sounds nuts, but within days of starting Slynd, I felt my anxiety settling, and it’s maintained to this day. I’m grounded, steady, and focused. It’s crazy. Also, from the very first pill, my period just… stopped. No spotting, nothing. Good god, I thought I’d have to wait until menopause for that type of relief! For me, this has been a miracle drug. 10/10. 5 stars."

For Birth Control "I'm on my 4th month of Slynd. I switched from a pill containing estrogen because I'm 41 and get migraines (infrequently). Because I have endometriosis, I do not take the placebos. The first week I had minimal spotting and cramping (and was expecting far worse). Since then, zero cramping or spotting or endo pain! My acne has neither improved nor gotten considerably worse. But I went through a time in the second month where my skin was more oily than it had ever been. Also during my second and third month, I was dealing with really bad anxiety. Hard to say whether the transition to Slynd had something to do with it or whether it was situational. I was able to lose about 6 pounds by eating more mindfully and have not had a migraine since starting it. Overall, I am extremely happy with how I have adjusted to it."

For Birth Control "I've been on Slynd for over a month, and I already hate it. I'm 35 and have endometriosis with horrible cramps that put me in the hospital. I was in pain a lot, so I wanted relief and a better quality of life. While this pill already relieved me of the terrible endo pain and 7-day periods, my moods are so bad! I cry... A LOT... and for no reason. I'm having more anxiety, and I feel depressed. Also, I have a headache every day and am SO thirsty, my eyes are dry. Sleep has been rough... I can't get a full night's sleep anymore. I get easily annoyed and angry, like I blurt out what I'm thinking because I'm so annoyed. Also, I didn't get my period the first month, but I've been spotting every day since I started taking it. Honestly, I don't know what's worse: the endo pain before Slynd or my mood on Slynd. I have a free 3-month supply, but I don't know if I can take it anymore. I think it's doing me more bad than good."

For Birth Control "I’m really enjoying Slynd! I was on Lo Loestrin FE and came off because of migraines and intense anxiety on placebo pills. My NP advised me to take this continuously, so no placebo, and my moods/emotions are so stable, and I don’t get a period! I had some very, very light spotting for two days during pack three, but nothing worth doing anything about. My skin has cleared up so nicely, and I haven’t gained any weight. I think it's worth a try if you struggle with panic disorder!!"

For Birth Control "Slynd was NOT for me. After a decade on Yaz, my OB-GYN switched me to Slynd. This was during the quarantine and highly stressful timing, in hindsight, I should have not agreed to change over to something without more research. My side effects began in the second half of the first pack. I began dropping weight and developing acne on my back, neck, and face (I’m almost 40). My anxiety hit an all-time high, and by the first week of the second pack, I quit after having an episode where I had thoughts to harm myself. For reference, I have NEVER experienced that in my life, and it was such a red flag I called my doc to switch back to my old pill. The nurse made a comment about weight loss not being associated with this pill and was cavalier about it. I was upset that this pill is so new with limited research and reviews, and I had been prescribed it simply because I was approaching a certain age. It was not a fit for me."

For Birth Control "I have been on Slynd for a few months now, probably around 7 months. My previous birth control pill gave me crazy mood swings and made my depression and anxiety worse, as well as making me extremely irritable. The first three months on Slynd were way better than my previous pill; however, I would experience spotting days or over a week before even taking the placebo pills. About 5 months in, I experienced breakthrough bleeding for 3 weeks. After that, it all went downhill. I find that at the end of the second week of my pack, my depression and anxiety hit an all-time high. Intense mood swings of high anxiety and vicious sadness hit and last until I take my placebos. Every pill affects everyone differently, but if you have a history of depression, anxiety, etc., you may want to use a different pill; I would not recommend this pill."

"Do not let the reviews scare you, each person's experience will vary. Consider your risks with your doctor, but understand it can take months to tell if a medication is working or not. I have endometriosis and fibroids and cannot tolerate estrogen due to aura migraines. I tried Movisse before this, and it was a nightmare (severe bleeding and cramping). I stumbled upon this drug on my own, my doctor had not even heard of it in Canada as it is new. I have been on it for 1.5 months, and upon starting, my bleeding stopped immediately. I now just spot instead of having a period, and my pain has gone from about an 8 to a 2. My oily skin has cleared up, and it looks amazing. I will say I experienced some anxiety and depression the first month, but it gets better. Give this a shot!"

For Birth Control "Before I could even get my prescription, I had to jump through a million hoops because my insurance won’t cover it. This was nothing compared to the side effects. I had migraines and GI distress within 3 days of starting Slynd and felt like I was constantly PMSing. I couldn’t sleep. My mood was terrible - I was so irritable and not sure how I didn’t go off on anyone during this time. I had absolutely no energy and felt like I was in a brain fog. The worst, though, was the depression and anxiety. I haven’t had a depressive episode like Slynd made me have in years, and the anxiety was so bad that I started to have panic attacks. I had to call out of work a few times. I stopped taking Slynd after a month and went back on my previous BC. It’s been a month, and I’m just now starting to feel normal. This med has the same active ingredient as Yaz, so if Yaz wasn’t good for you, Slynd probably won’t be either."

For Birth Control "I have endometriosis, and this pill was recommended to me because I was having a lot of breakthrough bleeding and spotting between periods, and I also have a history of cysts. I’ve been on many pills throughout the years, and this by far has been the worst experience. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. I started bleeding immediately the first day I took it and never stopped for almost 2 months. The doctor said to give it 3 months for my body to adjust, but I couldn’t do it. I gave up about 2 months in because I was also having headaches, bloating, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and severe mood changes. I did not feel like myself and was either crying for no reason or raging in anger with both, not like me. I stopped at the end of December, and my periods have still been off. I bled from mid-January to mid-February, and now in March, I didn’t get my period at all. I suspect this is now my body re-adjusting from being off this pill, so beware if you’re going to try it."

For Birth Control "I will never take this again. I started 2 yesterday, and my mood has been horrible. I have been snapping at everyone, being rude and screaming like a banshee since I started taking this pill and having bouts of crying after snapping at everyone in the house over the most silly, tiny little things when I am usually calm. I have been having intrusive thoughts and nightmares that have basically scarred me, and my anxiety and depression have just gone downhill. I have 0 motivation to do anything and just sit on the couch all day. My experience was horrible, and I can't wait for the side effects to go away. I would rather be anemic and bleed heavily than be like this."

For Birth Control "I’m almost done with my first pack of Slynd, and I’m miserable. I am taking it for PMDD, peri-menopause, but on this, I started having hot flashes multiple times a day, my mood was all over the place, and I felt low-grade depression as well as my anxiety spiking. I sleep worse than before because now I also grind my teeth so bad (because my anxiety is worse), I wake up with my whole face tired and sore. I’m asking my Dr. if I can quit after this pack. My regular peri-menopause symptoms and PMDD were easier to deal with before taking Slynd, and it wasn’t easy then! So it tells you how unhappy I am on this pill."

For Birth Control "I am into a month and a half. At first, I had spotting here and there. The past few days, it has been almost a normal period. The doctor said it could take up to 3 months for my body to regulate to it. So far, I have noticed more breakouts, slight cramps, and some depression/anxiety, however, my body is adjusting, so that's to be expected, especially since I already suffer from both. My doctor has me skip placebo pills and said I won’t get my period anymore in a few months by doing so. I’ll be back to update after a few more months. Just remember, it takes your body time to adjust (could be a few months). Nothing unbearable."

For Birth Control "I've tried a lot of different birth control pills and an IUD. I've always had irregular periods and bad cramps. My doctor thinks I could have endometriosis, so she suggested I try this last pill before proceeding with a laparoscopy. I hardly have any cramping since starting Slynd. I am on my third week of my second pack, and it seems to be helping the cramps. I started bleeding during the third week of my first pack and bled heavily for about 2 weeks. I finished the pack, and the bleeding stopped. In the middle of my second week of my second pack, my period started again. I've noticed more anxiety and mood swings. Also, what is up with this acne? I've never had acne in my entire life. Maybe a couple of pimples here and there before my period, but this is insane. I've already gotten this far, so I will finish out the 3 months."

For Birth Control "My experience, unfortunately, wasn't positive. I ended up only lasting 5 days on it because the side effects were too much for me. My face, which very rarely breaks out, broke out terribly immediately. I've read reviews from people saying it causes cystic acne, which for me is definitely not an acceptable side effect. The main reason I got off of it was that it affected my mood and emotions SO much. I have depression and anxiety disorders, which are totally managed with medication, but this birth control made me so incredibly anxious and depressed that I would lay in my bed crying for days until I decided that it was not worth being on this BC. I literally felt like I was spiraling out of control and losing my mind when I was on it. I've also read about other people having this side effect as well. For now, I've decided that I won't be on any BC to stop my period and will keep pushing through the endo since this pill wasn't worth my mental health at all."

"I've been taking Slynd for 4.5 months. So far, this has been wonderful! I had extremely heavy periods. I was bleeding for 12 days every month, and 5-6 of those I was changing a menstrual cup every 1-2 hours, even at night. My ferritin was down to 5. This was my last resort before I figured I'd end up with a hysterectomy. The first two and a half months, I had significant spotting and light bleeding. After that, nothing! No other side effects. My moods are stable. I don't have hardly any anxiety anymore. No weight gain. No headaches. I hope this continues to work this well. It's been a lifesaver!"

For Birth Control "It’s effective against pregnancy because spotting, cramping, bloating, and discomfort happen for several weeks. Also, my anxiety and depression have increased since starting Slynd. I’m not sure if it’s because I haven’t been on it for as long as many other people (I started using Slynd November 19th) - but I don’t want this to keep going throughout months to the point where I throw out the pill and just use another form of contraceptive. My doctor recommended this to me because he thought I was very sexually active - even though this pill stopped me from being sexually active completely because of the amount of periods I got for a long amount of time. Not to mention I kept getting cystic acne and acne in general - and I’ve been gaining weight as well."

For Birth Control "I'm 21 years old, and I have PCOS and Hashimoto's. I've had hormonal acne since I was 11. I have spent thousands of dollars on dermatologists, medical-grade skincare, facials, intense peels, microneedling, antibiotic prescriptions, etc., and nothing has ever worked like Slynd has to clear up my skin. I have only been taking it for one week, and I cannot believe how good my skin looks compared to what it looked like before. I had cystic acne on my jawline, chin, and neck, and now when I touch those areas, my skin is smooth, and it hasn't been in years. I could literally cry. Slynd has anti-androgenic effects, so if you have hyperandrogenism or PCOS, give this a try. I have been on spironolactone before (which did help, but not this fast and not even this well) and had to stop taking it after my dose was raised to 50mg due to dizziness, which led to anxiety. I cannot take BC with estrogen because of depression. I can only take POPs - I've taken norethindrone BC, and it made my skin worse. Slynd is amazing."

For Birth Control "I started taking Slynd in February 2022, and it’s May 2022 now. The first month, I had light spotting when my period was due and REALLY bad cramps, which I’ve never had, super bad cramps before. I couldn’t move because of them, and they lasted about 10 minutes (not exaggerating). I am about to start my 4th pack and haven’t had a period. I haven’t had any spotting or bleeding for months 2 and 3. I have anxiety, so I’m very anxious about being pregnant. I keep taking tests because I’m so anxious. It also has affected my mood dramatically. I have depression and anxiety already, and the reason I switched to this birth control was because it was supposed to help with my PMDD. It made it worse. I almost got sent to a residential mental facility. I became extremely angry and extremely depressed (considered suicide heavily). I’m glad to see it worked for a lot of people, but it’s just not for me…"

For Birth Control "Started taking Slynd several months ago. I'm 39, I have heavy periods with lots of pain, and I get migraines with aura. Slynd was an alternative to norethindrone, which caused me bloating, major oral issues, and daily dehydration symptoms even when cutting caffeine. Here are the benefits after taking it for 90 days: light periods, no facial flushing, no heavy cramps except sometimes, it cured my anxiety completely, and I experienced short-term depression for 1-2 months but am better. However, there are severe downfalls: my mouth is severely dry all the time, my gums are pale, and my tongue is coated with white. I lost hair. I have weird leg cramps at night and dull headaches consistently. I urinate frequently, which triggers a bladder condition I already have, it's a strong diuretic. All of my blood work and urinalysis are coming out normal. This is strange to me. Hope this helps someone decide."

For Birth Control "Switched from COC to this because I get headaches and needed something better for acne. The first month was great, with no side effects. In the second month, I had heavy breakthrough bleeding for about a week, but it resolved. However, that’s when insomnia started too. I have narcolepsy and never have had insomnia or issues staying asleep. I get up to pee and can’t go back to bed, and my anxiety and depression (never had depression before) are through the roof. I do believe it’s helping my skin, but this is not worth the scary way I feel. Switching to Yaz and hoping that helps. I had so much faith in this pill, and I’m sure it works for many, just did not for me. I’m 6 days away from finishing my second pack and haven’t slept through the night in weeks. I’ve missed work and school."

For Birth Control "There are things that are good and things that are bad about this pill. I have been taking it for a year. Start with love: I’ve always had heavy cramps and bleeding. With Slynd, my periods have been light to nonexistent, with very light cramping. Also, I haven’t gotten pregnant. Ok, things I don't like: a month or so after starting, I started to get headaches near my left ear that would extend down to my chest. This caused great anxiety. I had my first ever panic attack in my life about 3 months in. Headaches got better for a while, and no panic attacks for about 4/5 months. Then anxiety through the roof, headaches, and chest pain have returned. I’ve been to multiple doctors and have checked my blood work and heart with no issues (I’m 31 and healthy). I have decided to stop taking it for a few months and see if my symptoms improve. As much as I want them to improve, I also have liked the birth control otherwise. We will see, but this anxiety has got to go."

For Birth Control "I'm 44 y/o, and the doctor prescribed Slynd to help with fibroids and heavy bleeding. Started on the 1st day of my August 21 cycle, and it was noticeably shorter and lighter, so I was very helpful. Started bleeding a few days before my September cycle was due to start and have not stopped since. It is now November. With the Slynd, I started passing larger and larger clots - to the point I was scared to leave home or sleep because they would literally just explode out of me with no warning. I am still trying to get past this anxiety. Almost 2 weeks ago, I passed a clot that was like orange-sized, and that was the last straw. Have not taken since. Bleeding is getting better and I have stopped all the crazy clotting, but the anxiety is still here because I keep expecting them to come back. Not a good experience for me at all! I'm ready for my hysterectomy after this."

For Birth Control "So this is my first birth control I've taken since I've had my baby. I've been taking it for about 5 months (or maybe a little less), and honestly, it's not that great. I have anxiety, and it's made my anxiety worse. I feel nauseated on this pill, I have constant acne and weight gain, and my period has gone on for weeks. But those don't matter as much to me as the anxiety and random panic attacks. I've had this problem before, which is why I stopped taking birth control in the first place, but this is bad. I will eventually switch pills when I am able to get insurance again, because wow, it is bad."
