Ramelteon for Insomnia "I had a bad experience each time I tried it. I have been on Ambien for many years, but my doctor wanted to try something else. The Rozerem made me extremely anxious and did the opposite of what I needed it for! My heart beat fast, and I had a feeling of nervousness and anxiousness. I tried it 4 times, and it was the same all 4. Maybe I'm allergic."

Ramelteon for Insomnia "This medication has made me severely suicidal. It is a literal nightmare after taking it only once. I have had severe insomnia since I was a child, which has only gotten worse with age. After visiting a sleep clinic, I was prescribed this medication, but it put me in such a bad place mentally. Instead of taking my usual over-the-counter sleeping pill, I took this and began to feel drowsy about ten minutes later. Unfortunately, my heart started racing, and I have found myself in a state between severe anxiety/alertness and drowsiness/sickness since 11:00 PM. It's now 4:30 AM, and I'm experiencing a severe headache and anxiety, but I also feel dizzy, drowsy, and nauseous, yet I'm too wired to sleep. This feels like something they would give people in a concentration camp to torture them. I've now taken my over-the-counter sleeping pills to try to combat the effects of this medication that I cannot believe is even on the market. It will be a miracle if I'm even alive tomorrow."

Ramelteon for Insomnia "Age 25, I had mild insomnia, and a tendency to stay up too late and sleep too late in the day. On my doctor's advice, I took Rozerem when it first came out in 2005. HUGE mistake! I used it for a month, during which time I felt strangely nervous, 'edgy,' and very restless at night. My doctor convinced me to continue it. Well, after that month I said 'no way!' I had to get off of it because it was literally making me feel crazy. Well, now the 'fun' part of the story starts. You see, now without it, I had SEVERE and intractable insomnia. I stayed awake for 9 straight days after stopping it, only sleeping when going to the hospital and getting an injection of midazolam. So began an endless cycle of horrible insomnia and prescriptions of sedatives, a nightmare which persisted for 11 straight years. FINALLY, around 2016, my brain got itself back together and now I sleep normally again without any medication. I will NEVER take a sleeping pill again! Rozerem damaged my SCN, we believe."

Ramelteon for Insomnia "I tried Rozerem upon doctor's request. First night, I was not sure if it worked or not. The next day, I took a nap around 2 PM and felt horrible after waking. Headache and utter exhaustion. Tried for the second night and was unable to sleep until 4 AM. It gave me a feeling of anxiety."

For Insomnia "I've had insomnia for years. I was taking Trazodone to help me sleep (other sedatives in the past). I wanted to get off of that because of the side effects of long-term use, and I began to try ramelteon. I have taken it for 3 days, and it is horrible so far. I lay awake, and then after about an hour or so, I began to have extreme feelings of sleeplessness, anxiety, and became extremely fidgety. I have heard you have to give this medicine a few days to work. I will try it for 2 weeks because I can only suffer for so long. Wish me luck! I may pair it with some melatonin and see if that helps."

For Insomnia "I have taken many supplements, CBD gummies, benzos, etc. I don’t have any trouble falling asleep, but staying asleep was horrible. It caused anxiety and stress. I have been on ramelteon for 5 months, and it gives me 4 to 5 hours of straight sleep, and then I can fall back in about 10 minutes. I use the CBT-I app, and I average 6.5 hours a night. I have even had up to 7, and a few times, even 8 hours. My only complaint is the very vivid and sometimes disturbing nightmares. I would say disturbing dreams. I have always been a vivid dreamer, but this medication makes them more memorable and frequent. The cost is ridiculously high, though."

For Insomnia "WORST experience ever! Took the pill as instructed, but it would just make me feel like sleep was about to begin, and then I was hit with a bout of intense anxiety. This cycle repeated all night long. These horrible side effects ended about an hour before I was supposed to wake up. HORRIBLE experience, threw all the pills away the next morning. Now my MD gave me Belsomra, just read reviews about the night terrors and sleep paralysis. The only thing that really works for me is Valium or Xanax, but the doctor keeps pushing these dance meds."

For Insomnia "Every time I take this, I get anxious, and my thoughts race. It normally takes me like 3 hours to fall asleep. This drug that I have taken five times keeps me up for 4 to 6 hours."
