Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I've had some form of bacterial vaginitis (BV) and a yeast infection for a few months now. I went in for a pap and tested positive for both, so my OB-GYN prescribed MetroGel and Diflucan. I think both have helped, but I noticed a lot of discharge with the gel. I would have discharge the size of a quarter, and thick, multiple times a day. The symptoms of a yeast infection seem to be gone, so I'm not sure if it's from the gel or yeastie. Anyways, I didn't get the headaches or dizziness. Hoping this helps."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I’ve been unfortunate enough to suffer from both perioral dermatitis and rosacea at 25. I have tried Soolantra, Plexion, Avar, and many other things in the past to control my rosacea. This is the only medication that has helped significantly with both in the last few months. Within a week, my skin texture was overall better. However, complete results did not come quickly. I’ve been using this cream for about two months now. While some bumps cleared, others had to come to the surface first. This happened around week three, I believe. This was pretty annoying, but over time, my skin’s texture is much improved, and the best part is I really DO NOT flare up at all anymore. I used to be so scared of having an alcoholic drink or consuming certain things. Even the stress of doing grad school made me flare! Not one new flare in months now. Amazing. I can’t wait until all my flare-ups clear and my face is smooth again. I have confidence it will happen."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Seems to be working. After the first application, the smell went away. And to my surprise, NO leaking. But I’ve got a headache from HELL. I had no idea that it was a side effect till I went online. Also feeling super lazy. But that may be cause I am lazy? Just not usually this bad. Once the headache goes away, it will be worth it. I can go out in public and not worry if someone can smell me."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I also used to use 0.75% MetroGel, it was so expensive, $200.00 for a tube. I have insurance, but I still had to pay over $50.00 for it. It didn't work that well, as I would break out daily. I probably should have used it twice a day. But it was so expensive that I used it sparingly. My pharmacy suggested the 1% MetroGel, and I'm so happy with this product. It's $40.00 a bottle and has a convenient pump. I use it twice a day, and my face hasn't broken out since I started using it. And my insurance pays the entire amount."

For Rosacea "I suffered from rosacea for years, but as I went through menopause, it seemed to decrease in frequency. However, when it did pop up, it was more intense, so the last time I had an outbreak, I finally broke down and asked my new doctor for something, and he gave me MetroGel. I was a bit dismayed to read the label that it could take 3-6 weeks to be effective, but like several others here, I literally saw results after the first application. I applied it at bedtime and was quite surprised the first night to find my face noticeably less inflamed the next morning and smoother. I have used it several nights in a row now, and my face seems to be healing from this latest outbreak much more quickly than I could ever have expected."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "This is my first day on this medicine, so I just wanted to share my first day and time experiences using it. Mine is a 5-day treatment, once a day. There is no burning or itching with it like I get using Monistat. I'm a super sensitive person when it comes to using vaginal medications or soaps. It's also not discharging like crazy for me. No serious side effects besides cramping. I'm 10 weeks pregnant, and I didn't experience any vaginal bleeding. I have a yeast infection medication ready to take with this because my doctor prescribed it, and because the packaging states you will most likely end up with a yeast infection after use. I did wake up with a sore throat and a bad cough. I don't know if these are related, though. I'm waiting to see how this works completed for my BV and then I'll post back a final review. I just wanted to share my first-time personal experience. Because I was scared to use it at first."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I was diagnosed with BV at 13 weeks pregnant. I was prescribed the metro gel 5X nightly. I asked my midwife why she prefers the gel over the pills, and she said it makes sense to treat something vaginally through the vagina. Makes sense to me. I took the medication as prescribed and didn’t seem to experience any real unpleasant side effects. I didn’t have any symptoms to begin with, so I can’t speak to whether it cleared them up. I was tested because I am pregnant. I have noticed some of the gel leaking out in the morning along with some thicker white discharge. But from what I’ve read, that is normal. All in all, despite being very skeptical about doing this while pregnant, it was not a bad experience at all."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Read some negative reviews about this brand. I was scared to use the gel, I was very nervous. Laid on my back and it was easy to insert. I did it right before bed when I wasn’t going to get up again for the night. The next morning when I went pee, the gel didn’t come out. I was surprised, and there has been nothing on my panty liners throughout the day, which was a relief because I’ve been dealing with discharge the last couple of weeks from BV. (I was prescribed Penicillin pills, those are worse. They smell foul, make my urine smell like the pill, and have me feeling exhausted, plus, I can’t think straight and it affects my memory.) So using the MetroGel was less stressful, and I would use it again if I had to due to the great experience and overall simplicity of it."

For Rosacea "Nope, nope, nope. Metronidazole barely helps the bumps of rosacea, and I can’t use it even once a week, or it burns and really makes the redness worse. I think this cream actually permanently spread my rosacea somehow. Terrible, and I don’t know how this is still on the market."

For Rosacea "Wow, I’m in the tropical heat, and my rosacea was out of full-blown redness, itchy, and small bumps. I got so desperate that I called my doctor. He prescribed me metronidazole gel. When I got it, I read the instructions - wash my face, then place the gel on my face, and it cooled me immediately, immediately. Been on it now for two days, and the difference is incredible. I will never use any other products besides this gel. It shocked me, the gel really works. In the past, I was given the cream formula, and it didn’t do for me what this gel formula has. If you are itchy, red, and have little pus bumps, believe me, it really works."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Used MetroGel for 5 days every night before I went to bed. Before using, I freaked myself out with the reviews, but I really only experienced a headache and some stiffness in my neck, which was tolerable. On the third day, smell and discharge were gone. Been a few days since I’ve been off of it, it worked good overall :)"

For Rosacea "Having foolishly used a steroid lotion on my forehead rosacea, I had a real flare-up when, after 2 weeks, I stopped using it. Horrible lumps and lots of white-headed pustules appeared, as well as larger red spots, making me very self-conscious. It hardly helped that I was about to head off on a 2-week business trip - meeting lots of new people. I tried azelaic acid, which seemed to make matters more inflamed. Then, having overlooked it thinking it was pretty 'first base', I tried Metrogel (clear gel). After 2 days, I thought I could see an improvement. Within 4 days, it was clearly working; no new pustules were appearing, and the old ones were being shrunk down. Within a week, my forehead looked pretty clear. 10 days later, it was fine. Recommended."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I have suffered with BV now for over 6 months, and it has caused a lot of issues with my mental health and sex life. After being tested for every STD under the sun (just to rule out as we didn’t know what it was at first), it was misdiagnosed as thrush by a doctor at the clinic. The symptoms persisted as what I was given for the thrush didn’t clear it (as it wasn’t thrush). I went back to 3 doctors who told me it was BV. I have now taken 3 courses of oral antibiotics, and they don’t work for me. I was then prescribed metronidazole gel (5-day course), and wow! Just wow! The results after the first dose are incredible. No more overbearing smell, no funky discharge. Not having to change my underwear and shower like 4 times a day. One thing I will say is just be aware that the gel WILL GIVE YOU A WEIRD STRINGY LUMPY WHITE DISCHARGE! It’s just the gel working and flushing out the infection. I was scared by this at first but later found out it’s normal xx."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I have found that this cream improved my face redness, I only use it when I need to. I was told I had rosacea about 10 years ago after having relatively clear skin. I was about 60 years old and couldn't understand why I got pimples on my face. I probably should persevere more and use it for a longer period of time, as the rash returns, especially after I have eaten dark chocolate (which I love) or cheap chocolate. I find that the more expensive chocolate, like Lindt or Aldi chocs, aren't as bad. I think sugary food makes it break out. I try to avoid these products."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I'm 42 years old. Started with BV issues over the last 12 months. Tried antibiotics. Did not work. Lactic acid gels work but just temporarily. I used the MetroGel for 5 days. I had zero symptoms other than a little white discharge. Have been finished with it for 5 days. A bit of white discharge still but no odor. Not sure how long it will last for."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "My doctor took several vaginal samples and tested for yeast, all STDs, and bacteria. The only thing that was positive was G. Gardnerella, which is bacteria. She gave me Flagyl 500 mg daily for 7 days and told me to use MetroGel 2x a week for 4-6 months. Still not better and just finished 5 weeks of the gel, which is 10 doses. I have zero odor, never had any, but my discharge is like acid. My skin around the vaginal opening is extremely red, and it burns, and sometimes I itch. I'm majorly frustrated. I have used Desitin and Vaseline to try and keep the discharge from burning me so bad (doc's suggestion), but those tend to make me worse! I'm truly so depressed, I just don't feel like this is ever going to go away. No sex for 5 months now."

For Rosacea "After nine years of no flare-ups, I suddenly found myself with red cheeks and pustules. I decided to consult a dermatologist who prescribed me sulfa cleanse and a very low dose antibiotic. Within several days, my face was extremely red, raw, and full of large, painful pustules. Heartbroken, I decided to see my regular doctor, and he prescribed me metro gel and a stronger antibiotic. I saw results instantly. From one day to the next, my redness and inflammation went down to the point that I noticed it. Now, only five days later, my face is back to normal. I am amazed at how fast the metro gel, combined with the right antibiotics, cleared my face up. I am forever grateful to my doctor and metro gel for helping me smile again."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "This product is my miracle. I visited many doctors for the bumps and redness on my face, and no one was sure it is rosacea (symptoms are not quite identical to rosacea's symptoms). I used many creams, lotions, and strong antibiotics. After all, a doctor offered MetroGel, and you won't believe it, from the very first application, I can see a dramatic change in my facial redness and bumps. These acne-like bumps are almost disappeared, which I hope will be gone even more. Thanks to MetroGel, I have no side effects so far and use this only at night, followed by a light moisturizer."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I have suffered from reoccurring BV for a few months now. The metronidazole gel never works and almost always causes a yeast infection. I don’t know if I’m mad at my doctor for continuing to prescribe it or at me for using it again. I plan to use alternative methods from now on. I’m fed up. Don’t know how this is the only medication they prescribe for every vagina in existence. Good luck to whomever is having issues."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I've had BV off and on for 3 years, tried the 7-day course multiple times. Always came back in a couple of days. Was told to do MetroGel twice a week for 6 months. This has kept it at bay but never got rid of it. I was tested positive for group strep B, was told I may have had this overgrowth infection since I gave birth to my second son... 3 years ago... and that it could be the cause of the BV or the symptoms of BV. After the penicillin treatment, I've noticed a slight difference but still having to use the MetroGel to keep it at bay. I take a raw probiotic twice a day as well. I wish this medicine worked like it has on everyone I've known to use it. This BV stuff is so crippling."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "Not impressed. After a week of use, it has given me small white pimples, usually two new ones per day. This is after spending hundreds of dollars on dermatologist appointments and other creams, and I was finally making progress with my rosacea. I am discontinuing use and will try antibiotics instead."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I got BV from stupidly using body wash in the nether regions, completely regret it! I’ve never used antibiotics, but my doctor gave me MetroGel. So far, no irritation, and the smell is gone completely. Currently, I am experiencing discharge, but no cramping so far. The only thing I fear is that I may get a yeast infection, but hopes are high."

For Rosacea "For papules and pustules, I give it 10/10, but for the rosacea redness, I give it 1/10. It makes the rosacea redness on my cheeks a lot worse, but it cleared the papules and pustules on my forehead completely with one application."

For Rosacea "I'm 44 and have had rosacea (untreated) for about 15 years...with pustules mostly the last 2-3 years...one doctor telling me it was adult acne. Anyway, it got really bad after changing my diet to keto, and I knew it should have cleared my skin up, but the pustules got so bad. My Dr. prescribed the generic gel, and within two weeks, the pustules were completely gone, and another two weeks and skin texture is wonderful, but the redness remains on my cheeks, so only 8/10. I'm going to ask my Dr. about something else when I go back for the redness. I'd like to know why I waited so long to treat it. This worked great and my skin hasn't been this clear ever in my life. No side effects that I can tell."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "My rosacea creates a very red face and affects my eyes, i.e., swelling. It affected my career as a teacher because diagnosis was a long time coming. I was finally prescribed MetroGel, and after a while, it significantly reduced the redness and swelling. However, it has suddenly stopped working and actually creates more redness, and my face burns really badly on application. Back to square one!"
