MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "AWFUL medication. I had absolutely 0 symptoms of BV, but it came up in my pap during my physical. My doctor started me on the pill and I could hardly make it 1.5 days. Wasn’t able to focus, felt drunk, nausea, extreme fatigue, ear congestion, and so on. I quit taking it immediately. My doctor then prescribed the topical gel, which I believe was a huge mistake as it caused extreme and intense burning on the outside of my vagina. Then onto the vaginal gel insertion. I had to do 2 awful rounds of this. Worst cramps, nausea and fatigue I’ve ever experienced. Bloating was so uncomfortable, I could hardly wear some of my clothes. It’s been 3 weeks since I’ve been off the medication now and I’ve still had waves of side effects. My gut bacteria and vaginal ph are completely out of whack. All I want to do is sleep, my migraines have intensified and bloating is still an issue. Do not take this medicine especially if you didn’t have symptoms of BV to begin with!"

For Rosacea "I had mild rosacea when I started using metrocream 0.75%. It made me break out extremely badly all over my cheeks and nose. I think it clogged my pores, making the redness and Rosacea much worse. Very disappointed in the setback it gave me."

MetroGel (metronidazole) for Rosacea "This is follow up from my comment on 2019-09-10. Once I stopped Metrogel my face flared right back up. It' s important ppl understand (like I didn't) before going on this. This FIXES the problem. If your like me this seems to be what has helped me on post flareup after metrogel. (Face so dry) Keep looking find a natural moisturizer and an oil. You need to create an artificial moisture barrier I don't have one. EXFOLIATE once a week. Get all that dead skin off your face along with any left over moisturizer/oil . Immediately after drying face use oils and moisturizer. Water drys out my face. Why I only do it once a week. Avoid super hot showers. Another big thing for me was SHAMPOO. In showers the shampoo rinses off comes in contact with my forehead which causes INSTANT redness. Find a Natural shampoo that works. These things will cost a bit. A good moisturizer will set you back 40$ or so. Oils maybe 10. Along with Shampoo at 12. Still way better then $220 for prescription meds that only help the problem once its all over your face. Work on prevention."

MetroGel (metronidazole) for Rosacea "Used Metrogel 0.75% on my rosacea for one year. Worked well but it became quite expensive; small tube cost around $200. Switched to 1.0% Metrogel at pharmacist's recommendation because it was much cheaper; $50 for about the same amount. It also worked well for almost two years. Quit using it January 1, 2020 when my tongue became inflamed. I reviewed the adverse effects and one web site noted metallic taste in mouth and cold like symptoms among others effects. Years earlier I had an adverse reaction to amoxicillin, thrush/sore mouth and tongue, so I was aware that adverse effects were possible. I also had a nagging cough for about two years, starting before going on the 1.0% metrogel. Until the inflamed tongue issue I never thought the cough was linked to the metrogel. The metrogel worked very well until I developed adverse reactions."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "Was prescribed this medicine. Had to take it every night for 5 nights. Had the side effect of thick white clumpy discharge which my teledoc believed to be a yeast infection. It also itches mildly. The discharge is odorless though so I think it absolutely cleared the BV but gave me my first yeast infection in the process. I can't wait until my vagina is back to normal"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "This is for anyone scared to take this!! I was so scared to take this after reading the reviews. I put it off for so long and suffered from BV for 8 months. Discharge and horrible smell. I wish I would have used this sooner!!! Do not hesitate to use this it gave me my life back!! Smell and discharge were gone after one day. I used it for five days. It is easy to insert I had no side effects no burning no discomfort. The gel clumps up into white chunks that come out when you use the bathroom. But it was worth it!! I took a probiotic also to prevent a yeast infection. I’ve been bv free for a month now!!"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "When I was diagnosed with BV, I was initially given a script for this medication in the pill form for 7 days. I ended up back at the doctor a week later with persistent symptoms. Another swab was tested and I was still positive for BV. I was then started on the gel. Symptoms of BV cleared within a few days, which was great. I had pelvic discomfort, felt pretty tired, and had a little bit of discharge with blood one day. I also now have a yeast infection, which is the most common side effect. Overall, I would say the gel works more effectively at treating BV symptoms than the pill, but the side effects aren’t the best."

For Rosacea "I am 71 I have had small bumps on my face along with red Visable veins on my cheeks for years . I also have small bumps below my eyes which I have never been able to get rid of . My dermatologist gave me metronidazole gel because he said it would get rid of the redness and bumps . I started using it and the veins have faded the bumps gone and a surprise is that the small bumps under my eyes are shrinking. My skin is not dry any longer and looks amazing . Great stuff"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "I was diagnosed with BV and took this medicine PERFECTLY for 5 days. After the first day I got severe, crippling anxiety attacks which are very uncommon for me. I also had an upset stomach, cramps, and diarrhea for a week. The symptoms of BV never cleared up. I started my period after day 5 of medicine and after that, I was back to square one. It did not work at all for any of the symptoms, except the smell of the discharge was less bad, so that's why I gave it a two instead of a one. Still trying to find a medicine that helps me! This is so frustrating."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "Dealt with recurrent infection (BV and yeast) for two years. I am currently reading through comments on many people’s negative experiences with metro and also wondering if others are having the same issue. Randomly in my early 20s I started to have issues with recurrent infection. I am sexually active but I cut every potential issue out to stop these infections yet still had the same issue. First time having bv I was prescribed metro (oral) which in turn gave me a yeast infection (because antibiotics do that). I have tried every possible cure for recurrent infection and boric acid suppositories have been the only things that work for me. My doctor put me on long term treatment after my sixth time getting bv in the past two years where I took oral metro followed by 30 days of boric acid and six months of metro gel (I am on my first month of the gel)."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Very unhappy , have had BV for 4 months , everytime I take what I'm prescribed the test after the medicine is positive meaning it never went away at all not even for awhile , struggling a lot because of the recurrence. At this point I'm told I have to do a gel for 6 months and that is if that even makes it leave. I have no sex life anymore if I decide to take drug they said thats 10 months no sex. I'm in fear of my partner leaving for something that cannot be cured , will I ever have a life again ? Will I ever not feel ashamed , or filthy because of this? The doctors keep prescribing things for a UTI, yeast infection and BV "metro" antibiotics, nothing helps . I don't want to live my life like this , there needs to be more studies to find the actual problem of why the BV is recurring in so many woman who have given their whole lives up to fight this ."

For Rosacea "Two months ago I was prescribed metronidazole gel .75 for treating my rosacea. Within days the large number of tiny pimples on my forehead were gone. As well as the redness and roughness of the skin on my temples. The med also reduced the redness on my nose and cheeks. And for me at least, the overall smoothness and dryness reduction is remarkable. My doctor gave me a long term refill and I'm hoping to continue its use if it continues to work this well. Cost is under $30 at my pharmacy, btw."

For Rosacea "I’ve been using metronidazole 1% gel since I was diagnosed with rosacea in my mid 30’s. I’ve had rosacea since about 30 years of age. Everything I did caused redness and papules. The gel worked visibly overnight. In 3 days all papules were gone, like magic. I apply it only once at night (sometimes I get temporary redness and bumps in the morning after my face hits the cold air and/or the hot shower) but they fade away by the time I get to work. I had run out of this medicine around Christmas and within a week the bumps came back by NYE (because the insurance kicked it back saying I can only qualify for 1% if 0.75% didn’t work). The paperwork and back and forth with the insurance lasted 2-3 weeks. I got the 1% tube back and I’m so happy. I can’t wait for it to work its magic to get rid of the bumps that accumulated for the past 2+ weeks."

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "For the last 6 months I've been fighting BV that would not go away. I've been on 2 lots of antibiotics in pill form metronidazole that were disgusting to take and swallow that didn't do anything. I felt horrible when being on these, they seem to make my symptoms worse. I had tests done and would always come back positive for BV. Finally I went to a Gyno that listened, he prescribed me metrogel instead of pill form, and I would always ask them for a diflucan pill to take at the end of the coarse to stop a yeast infection, which it did. So I've been on the metrogel now for 4 days, which I was told to use twice a day for 5 days, and my symptoms of burning, itching went away on the second day. I've also had no bad side effects. By using this gel you do get a white clumpy discharge, but that should go away when the coarse is finished. This is the best I've felt in 6 months, and would definitely use again if needed."

For Rosacea "I'm 31 years old and have had almost flawless skin my whole life. About 1.5 years ago I started breaking out on my chin and cheeks, and my nose has gradually become more and more red. I thought I had adult acne so I would treat it with OTC acne medication and try to camouflage the bumps and redness with makeup, which made it much worse. My dad has rosacea, so I don't know why I didn't realize it was rosacea much sooner. He gave me a tube of his gel to try since paying for this medication can be quite pricey when you're not positive it'll work for you. I have only used the gel for one day , and I can already see results. Keeping my fingers crossed that I continue to experience positive results!"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "After being treated for yeast for 8 months with little success, my doctor put me on metrogel as kind of a last resort to soothe my itching/burning/abnormal discharge/tingling even though my cultures keep coming back negative for everything... I've taken metrogel before when I actually had a positive culture for BV and had no complaints. This time around, I'm on my second night and feel awful. Itching is still there + I have body aches, chills, feel nauseous... I'm going to continue using this medicine for the next 3 nights and I'll check back in to finish the review... also have a gross discharge but I assume this is the gel coming out..."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Having suffered with BV for 2 years, I've tried all sorts to get rid of it! Natural yoghurt, using 0% fragrance free shower gel, canesten (which worked for a little while but soon came back!) So I took a trip to the GP who prescribed me metronidazole gel. Before I took it, I read through the reviews here and I was petrified reading all the side effects. Especially the feeling nauseous or vomiting ones. I am petrified of vomiting! But I bit the bullet and took the gel for 5 nights. I have had absolutely NO side effects at all. I feel very lucky considering the amount of ladies who have had this medication and suffered horrendous side effects! The BV has completely cleared up, I'm cured of soreness, and the awful smell! Finally!! I didn't drink any alcohol while taking the gel for 48 hours before I started using it and 72 hours after (very hard as I love my wine!) Just wanted to write this to reassure people that not everyone gets side effects :) good luck ladies!"

Nuvessa (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "So it came back a LOT since last posting. I have had to figure everything out myself. It was hormone related big time ! Got on nuvaring birth control for 3 or 4 months recently and have come off the last month. That helped more than anything. Reset your hormone Balance with birth control. Also BV has a hard time living when you take birth controls."

For Rosacea "I am a annoyed as my previous old school GP did nothing about my concerns about facial redness/ flushing etc. He just said it was due to my Irish roots. I recall raising this nearly 20 years ago. He retired and I went to see the new GP on another matter and immediately she identified Rosacea and prescribed Rozex. It took 3 weeks to start working but it has truly changed my life. I'd appear to blush at the slightest thing before even if I wasn't embarrassed, it was because the flushing of rosacea was ever present and I constantly felt hot. People are very insensitive to facial redness and I held myself back because, with my rosacea people, assumed I was blushing and it makes others curious/uncomfortable. I have had no strong side effects, strangely I am more sensitive to hayfever but a piritin tablet sorts that. Overall 10 out of 10"

MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for Bacterial Vaginosis "Gave this 5 stars, I will say it helps for the moment... I have had a issue now for several months going back to doctor cause of BV and yeast infection, she gives me the diflucan to take then do the gel for 5 nights. Once I'm done in a few days it is back. I'm sick of going to the dr every month. Last visit she had recommended fresh Suppositories ordered them and could no do it. So with that being said I'm on my last night now of the gel. I got a probiotic vitamin that I will start plus started with the activia yogurt and changed my soap.. fingers crossed ... side effects I agree with most , headache. Cold like symptoms and yes a little more tired than usual ..."

I stopped using it after 9 weeks and was supposed to have a follow up with my dermatologist that had to get moved back a month. Now my whole face burns and is peeling, my rosacea is at it’s all time worst."
