Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "So my gyn said she had a suspicion that I had BV since I got recurrent yeast infections. She prescribed MetroGel 0.75% for 5 nights, and when I tell you the smell and weird discharge was gone, I'm over the moon. However, I did notice I got weird thick, white, and clumpy discharge on the 2nd day of use. Not sure what it is, but reading through the comments, I hear that it’s the vagina flushing the infection out. Still dealing with it now 2 days after finishing the treatment. Hope it clears up in a few days, or I have to go back to the gyn :("

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I was prescribed the metronidazole vaginal gel for bacterial vaginitis. They have me using the gel before bed for 5 days. Tonight will be my 4th night of use. So far, the only side effects I have noticed are a very thick, white discharge and menstrual-like cramps and discomfort in my pelvic area. Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I’ve had recurring BV for 7 years now. After getting tired of being prescribed MetroGel so often, only to get BV again after being intimate, I came across a post online. The woman who posted had experienced a similar situation but said she asked her doctor to test her for Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma. These bacteria are sexually transmitted and cause recurrent BV. They are not considered an STD or STI so doctors do not test for them regularly, but your partner should be tested and treated as well! So frustrating that my doctor kept telling me “men can’t get BV so he doesn’t need to be tested” and not testing me for this! I took her advice and lo and behold! That’s why I kept getting BV back after treatment. Thought I’d share here too. But yeah... MetroGel sucks. Especially the discharge after... yuck."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "It has been a little over a year now that I've been experiencing BV continuously. The next day after intercourse, I get really irritated! Followed by 2 days, I get discharge and itchy. Sometimes I will have like onion smell or fishy smell. I went to the doctor, and she prescribed the gel. It works great. I did see clumps of white stuff coming out. But when we have intercourse again, I get it back again! We are trying to get pregnant, and I don't know if this is rejecting our pregnancy. I told my doctor, she said there really is nothing I can do, just tell my husband not to ejaculate inside me. There have been times when I asked him not to ejaculate, and it is true. I will not have any type of BV or irritation. It's only when we have intercourse and he ejaculates inside me that I get my pH balance irregular. My husband doesn't want to ejaculate outside. It's like I'm always on the gel, and she has me on it for 7 days. I take probiotics to help, but it doesn't seem to work because I still get BV after intercourse."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I was prescribed the Metrogel 1x/day for 5 days for BV treatment. I used it at the same time every night at bedtime. It was painless to put in and did not fall out at all, even the next morning. Definitely make sure you put the applicator as far in as you can. I had no side effects except light discharge on day 4. Cleared up BV odor after just one day."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I’ve struggled with BV for about 2 years. I went and got diagnosed very quickly after the symptoms first started. I was prescribed the gel for 5 days. Of course, I went to look up some reviews. I was completely horrified at what I read. So much so that I didn’t take the medicine and just tried to deal with the BV naturally. However, after two years, I was fed up and just took it. I had no crazy side symptoms at all. I was so angry with myself for not taking this medicine sooner. Although I appreciate people telling their experiences with this drug, remember that everybody responds to things differently. Your body could very well have no side effects whatsoever, and you can be free of the BV. While I was taking it, I had a white clumpy discharge, but the odor was gone after the first dosage. If you have BV, take the medicine. Surround yourself at home with positive people or positive thoughts if you have anxiety about medicine like I do."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "This medication MetroGel-vag worked better than I expected, based on some other reviews. The smell was gone by day 3 of the 5-day treatment. I am about 2 weeks post-treatment and am BV free. I avoided using it for a month or so due to the side effect horror stories (vomiting, headache, pain, yeast infection, etc.). However, I had nearly 0 effects. The only side effects I experienced were discharge and cramping similar to period cramps, which was worth it to me to get rid of the embarrassing BV symptoms."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I've had some form of bacterial vaginitis (BV) and a yeast infection for a few months now. I went in for a pap and tested positive for both, so my OB-GYN prescribed MetroGel and Diflucan. I think both have helped, but I noticed a lot of discharge with the gel. I would have discharge the size of a quarter, and thick, multiple times a day. The symptoms of a yeast infection seem to be gone, so I'm not sure if it's from the gel or yeastie. Anyways, I didn't get the headaches or dizziness. Hoping this helps."

I used the MetroGel for 5 days. I had zero symptoms other than a little white discharge. Have been finished with it for 5 days. A bit of white discharge still but no odor. So far, no irritation, and the smell is gone completely. Currently, I am experiencing discharge, but no cramping so far. Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "For the last 6 months, I've been fighting BV that would not go away. I've been on 2 lots of antibiotics in pill form, metronidazole, that were disgusting to take and swallow, and that didn't do anything. I felt horrible when being on these, they seemed to make my symptoms worse. I had tests done and would always come back positive for BV. Finally, I went to a Gyno that listened, he prescribed me Metrogel instead of pill form, and I would always ask them for a Diflucan pill to take at the end of the course to stop a yeast infection, which it did. So, I've been on the Metrogel now for 4 days, which I was told to use twice a day for 5 days, and my symptoms of burning and itching went away on the second day. I've also had no bad side effects. By using this gel, you do get a white clumpy discharge, but that should go away when the course is finished. This is the best I've felt in 6 months and would definitely use again if needed."

My side effects were just a little bit of cramping and discharge with a little blood. Symptoms were noticeably better. Just stay away from alcohol."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I went to the doctor due to noticing a sweet smell or ammonia-type smell when I would urinate. I thought the problem was an underlying disease like diabetes. They tested me and BV is what fit. I have just finished my final dose last night out of 5 days. The thick white discharge seems to be a common thing, but the smell of my urine specifically hasn't changed, which is what led me to the doctor. Anyone else have a similar experience?"

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I used this gel after being scared about reviews. I have lots of anxiety about certain meds due to side effects. I finally decided to give it a try. I had some side effects like minor stomach pain, but I do have IBS. This was the only side effect I had. No nausea, no headaches, etc. I do have white clumpy discharge, which is a common side effect of this med. Other than that, I'm okay! I just finished the treatment yesterday. I will update once the white clumpy discharge clears. Give this a try, guys!"

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "This is an August update from when I gave a review on 17 June 2019. After using the MetroGel, I went to get another swab and was still positive for BV. I would say the gel did help about 90%, only because I’m still experiencing the same discharge as before, just a lot less. I had a feeling I would end up using the gel, then have to take the pills after. I would suggest skipping the gel and just taking the pills. I’m confident these will clear the BV so I can get a pap smear after. I’ve birthed a baby, so all these swabs and side effects from medicine are nothing to worry about. I just want to get it over with... the joys of being a woman, lol."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "A few months ago, I had BV, and it was a moderate case. My symptoms were musty smell and discharge that would soak through my pants. I took the gel, and the discharge was mostly gone, and the smell was somewhat better. After about a month, my doctor said I still had BV, but it was mild (slight discharge, and I smelled like musty flowers). I thought the gel would make the smell go away. WRONG. After using the gel, I still have BV, and now I have a TREATMENT RESISTANT YEAST INFECTION. This made my life far worse and my self-esteem even worse than it was before. The only thing that worked for me in the past is probiotics. I opened one pill and put it where the sun don't shine and didn't get BV for a year until I had a new sex partner. However, they must have sold the company or something because now the same brand doesn't work anymore, and none of the other brands work either."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I'm 28 years old and have never had any issues down there other than a yeast infection, but I noticed I was having a lot of milky white, odorless discharge. I went in for a check-up just in case. The doctor said I have BV and prescribed the MetroGel. I'm on night 3, and I'm having huge clumps of thick white discharge, a light burning when I pee, and weakness. I feel like it could be causing a yeast infection as well. I'm on oral antibiotics for a UTI too, so I'm not sure which symptoms are from the gel."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I took one dose nightly for five days. I’ve also been taking a vaginal probiotic. On day 3, I experienced the most horrible anxiety I’ve ever felt. I was SO anxious. All five nights, I had insomnia. I was sweating like crazy the whole five days, SOAKING through shirts. Again, this could be due to increased anxiety? Other than anxiety, no sleep, and lots of sweat, I had the usual clumpy discharge. It is four days post-treatment, and I feel normal. I finally started sleeping normally two days post-treatment, and I am no longer sweating or anxious. I am still experiencing clumps of discharge only when I use the bathroom, no more discharge otherwise! This is my second treatment in one year, almost to the date. My BV did come back when I started having unprotected sex with someone I now deem to not be the most hygienic, this was 8 months later. Ladies, a lot of research points to high saturated fat diets. I have since cut out cheese and dairy and limit my sugar."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I got BV for the first time about a year ago. I was prescribed something that gave me a very unpleasant chalky discharge, but it seemed to work. A year later, I got it again and really bad. The smell was awful and embarrassing. I was prescribed the metronidazole gel 0.75%, and the smell wasn’t nearly as bad after the first use. By the second, my symptoms were gone. My only side effects were clumpy discharge for the last days on the gel and a slightly upset stomach after drinking. Not a bad trade-off. I’m so grateful that this medication worked for me! I will definitely ask for it again if I get future infections."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "NEVER AGAIN. This metronidazole vaginal gel legit made me think I had some terrible other infection altogether. The first night I used it was fine. I was hopeful. The second day I woke up, and my lady parts were on fire. I also had the nasty cottage cheesy discharge, but that part was fine. I appreciated knowing it was working, but man, did it hurt. I did the second dose thinking I would adjust, and nope. I ended up in bed all day crying. I had to call the doctor back and get Clindamycin. I do not ever recommend the oral metronidazole either. The side effects are a nightmare. I’m currently on day one of this new med (clindo), and I already feel way better. BV is terrible, but this drug made it a million times worse."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Tonight will be my last night taking the metronidazole gel! So far I had major back pain and that thick, white discharge. I saw in the comments other people were getting it too, so I wasn’t worried! That only lasted for two days and my back feels a lot better now! Also, my urine started to burn, and I don’t know if that’s a side effect. But the doctor also prescribed me amoxicillin (it could be from that as well), but overall, this medicine helped!"
