For Rosacea "Many people don't seem to like MetroGel, but for me, it's really made a difference in my rosacea. One thing rosacea sufferers have to realize is that this treatment takes time. I would have to say that it took a good 2.5 months to start seeing noticeable improvement, with continued improvement the longer I use it. On a side note, I would like to add that my ears would flush when triggered by heat or stress, so I started to use MetroGel on them, and it has helped reduce the flushing. Overall, pretty happy with results, only negative aspect is the amount of time it takes for it to work."

For Rosacea "I was visiting my dermatologist for an unrelated problem and then asked for something to treat my acne. I can’t believe I am menopausal and still getting acne, I told him. (I am 56.) I was shocked when he told me it was rosacea and prescribed MetroGel 1%. Within a week, my acne was gone. I have been using it now for 9 months, and it is still good."

For Rosacea "I have found that MetroGel works wonders for me. It made a difference the first time I applied it! (Applied at night, woke up in the morning with noticeably clearer skin.) It is recommended to use it twice a day but I just apply it once, at night (because it causes a filmy layer over the skin and I wouldn't want to go out in public like that!) and that seems to be enough for me."

For Rosacea "Have been diagnosed with Rosacea that I have had apparently for years, was not willing to seek medical advice and treatment due to money concerns. Two and a half years since my last consulting with Dr. And all I can say is I am amazed at the results topically applied Metronidazole gel has given me. I am grateful for being able to shave my face without feeling like it was a blood sacrifice. Only one regret, why didn't I do it sooner. :) Happier now."

For Rosacea "I am 63 and never had a skin condition... ever. Heat, stress, lack of sleep all contributed to a redness to my face. Now it cracks and peels and swells. I started metronidazole, and it clears up in two days. Put non-oily lotion over the top, and I can put makeup on. Yeah."

For Rosacea "I had flushing rosacea for years before it was diagnosed. Then I spent years trying one medication after another to control it, but due to side effects, I could not take them. About 2 years ago, I was prescribed MetroGel. It has changed my life. The persistent flushing and burning are almost completely gone. I still wear sunscreen and a hat when outside, but now I can read at night and watch TV with the lights on."

For Rosacea "I have had chronic rosacea for at least the past 30 or more years, but only on my nose, and I have treated it with MetroGel cream each morning after I shower. There have been no side effects, and it has controlled the rosacea to the point where I have no redness or symptoms. As a retired Air Force officer and pilot on Medicare, and with access to military pharmacies and now TRICARE for Life, my costs are zero."

For Rosacea "I also used to use 0.75% MetroGel, it was so expensive, $200.00 for a tube. I have insurance, but I still had to pay over $50.00 for it. It didn't work that well, as I would break out daily. I probably should have used it twice a day. But it was so expensive that I used it sparingly. My pharmacy suggested the 1% MetroGel, and I'm so happy with this product. It's $40.00 a bottle and has a convenient pump. I use it twice a day, and my face hasn't broken out since I started using it. And my insurance pays the entire amount."

For Rosacea "My rosacea creates a very red face and affects my eyes, i.e., swelling. It affected my career as a teacher because diagnosis was a long time coming. I was finally prescribed MetroGel, and after a while, it significantly reduced the redness and swelling. However, it has suddenly stopped working and actually creates more redness, and my face burns really badly on application. Back to square one!"

For Rosacea "This product is my miracle. I visited many doctors for the bumps and redness on my face, and no one was sure it is rosacea (symptoms are not quite identical to rosacea's symptoms). I used many creams, lotions, and strong antibiotics. After all, a doctor offered MetroGel, and you won't believe it, from the very first application, I can see a dramatic change in my facial redness and bumps. These acne-like bumps are almost disappeared, which I hope will be gone even more. Thanks to MetroGel, I have no side effects so far and use this only at night, followed by a light moisturizer."

For Rosacea "I treated my face with MetroCream for years, and it worked quickly and effectively. It was also covered by my insurance. Recently, I ran out and discovered MetroCream was no longer available and has been replaced by MetroGel. Not covered by my insurance, MetroGel cost me $188.19 CDN + tax for a single tube. If that isn't bad enough, it simply does not work. I feel like I was mugged."

For Rosacea "I long for the days when you could get MetroGel 2%, that was REALLY effective! Now it seems you can only get it in the 1% option, which is only effective sometimes and for mild cases. WHY do drug companies do this to us? It's so upsetting..."

For Rosacea "I started using Metrogel 3-4 months ago because Metrocream is not available anymore. Unfortunately, it isn't working as well as the cream, as some bumps are starting to appear on the area treated, and this medication is supposed to keep that from happening. It never occurred with the cream. I am trying to find a replacement at this time."

For Rosacea "This is a follow-up from my comment on 2019-09-10. Once I stopped MetroGel, my face flared right back up. It's important people understand (like I didn't) before going on this. This FIXES the problem. If you're like me, this seems to be what has helped me on post-flare-up after MetroGel. (Face so dry) Keep looking, find a natural moisturizer and an oil. You need to create an artificial moisture barrier, I don't have one. EXFOLIATE once a week. Get all that dead skin off your face, along with any leftover moisturizer/oil. Immediately after drying your face, use oils and moisturizer. Water dries out my face. Why I only do it once a week. Avoid super hot showers. Another big thing for me was shampoo. In showers, the shampoo rinses off, comes in contact with my forehead, which causes INSTANT redness. Find a natural shampoo that works. These things will cost a bit. A good moisturizer will set you back $40 or so. Oils maybe $10. Along with shampoo at $12. Still way better than $220 for prescription meds that only help the problem once it's all over your face. Work on prevention."

For Rosacea "Used MetroGel 0.75% on my rosacea for one year. Worked well, but it became quite expensive; a small tube cost around $200. Switched to 1.0% MetroGel at the pharmacist's recommendation because it was much cheaper; $50 for about the same amount. It also worked well for almost two years. Quit using it January 1, 2020, when my tongue became inflamed. I reviewed the adverse effects, and one website noted a metallic taste in the mouth and cold-like symptoms among other effects. Years earlier, I had an adverse reaction to amoxicillin, thrush/sore mouth and tongue, so I was aware that adverse effects were possible. I also had a nagging cough for about two years, starting before going on the 1.0% MetroGel. Until the inflamed tongue issue, I never thought the cough was linked to the MetroGel. The MetroGel worked very well until I developed adverse reactions."

For Rosacea "Suffered with rosacea for years, delighted with results, but started experiencing a metallic taste and nausea after a week of use - have now had 3 weeks of nausea and wish I had read the enclosed leaflet to say that this was a side effect - my doctor was not aware of this."

For Rosacea "MetroGel has helped me manage my rosacea down to about 90%. If I stop using it, then I flare right back up. Missing just 1 or 2 days, and poof, pimples start coming up immediately. When I use it religiously, it's better."

For Rosacea "When I first put it on my face, it immediately felt a lot better. There wasn't any burning anymore, which I was happy about, but now that I'm continuing to use it, it's been not effective in clearing my rosacea up. (Yes, I know rosacea will never fully go away, but still.) It's still as red as it was before."

For Rosacea "I have had rosacea for years. I have kept it under control with an off-the-shelf product called Prosacea. During a recent flare-up, I happened to be at my doctor's for another matter. She noticed my face and prescribed MetroGel. It was useless for me. It made no difference. I even tried, for 3 weeks, on only half my face, and I could see no difference between the two sides. At $140 a tube (Canadian), it was a big waste of money."

For Rosacea "It worked for about 2 months and then quit helping me. Before I went on MetroGel, I had no flushing and just one itchy bump on my face occasionally. For 2 months, it completely stopped the itchy bumps from happening. Unfortunately, all of the sudden, I started flushing and am getting little acne-like bumps all around my mouth and forehead, along with the original itchy bumps I had before all over my face. I guess the itchy bumps are less itchy than they used to be, so that's something at least. So, yeah, for me, it just stopped working and now I'm much worse than before. I'm still using it, but I'm going to ask my dermatologist to switch me to something else."

For Rosacea "Redness took over my entire face. REDNESS EVERYWHERE. Missed diagnosis and had used 5 different antibiotic creams and it was spreading. Kept me up feeling like I wanted to sink my nails into my face to find relief. That morning I try a different doctor who immediately says ACNE Rosacea. He gives me MetroGel 0.75%. Day 1 - No Redness and a change/Itching@50%. Day 2 - No Redness Change/Itching cut 50%. Day 3 Signs Redness Change. Day 4/5. Itching/Burning GONE. Redness down 25%. Day 6/7. Redness down 50% (skin was healing). 7/8 HUGE 80% redness gone. Sitting Now at day 11. My Redness is gone. (Expensive though) Drink lots of water. #3. A little bit goes a long way with this gel, what I can attest to is I didn't need any more than 2x/day and VERY little of this stuff. Just put a TINY drop on your finger and rub that in. It may not feel like you have all of the spot, but trust me, it gets in there. It did for me and mine was a very bad case."
