For Bipolar Disorder "Amazing so far. I have been on it for six weeks and after getting past the first three days taking it- which gave me awful headaches, nausea, dry mouth, and fatigue - I started to feel something in me change. After three weeks I can say I noticed that the typical bad, ruminating thoughts of despair and general negativity were decreasing. And now at six weeks I can honestly say I have days where I catch myself and think, “Wow— I haven’t thought anything bad today”. I have never had a med this effective, and have a very sensitive/resistant system that has made med therapy a chore because nothing ever seems to work, or I end up having bad side effects. For the first time in 25+ years I feel hopeful; I am finding real joy in things, laughing genuinely, and I am able to be more compassionate and realistic with the pressures I put on myself. It’s improving my outlook on life and in turn improving my relationships. This is a miracle med for me."

For Schizophrenia "I've had very few side effects so far. This med, Caplyta, doesn't make me feel like a zombie like the other meds, and I can think more clearly. The only side effects I've experienced are mild nausea and internal restlessness. I'll have to see how the next upcoming doses go."

For Bipolar Disorder "Took this on day one for bipolar 2, and 2 hours later I felt like I had icy hot all over my body. Then I felt lethargic to the point I had slurred speech, and I could barely move without help. I had a very dry mouth and excessive thirst. The severe headache started, so I took a nap for about an hour. I woke up with neck pain connecting to the back of my head, nausea, and vomiting. A 2-hour shower eased the headache very little, but it continued along with the nausea until the following day. Also, on the following day I had dark urination. I was advised to discontinue the medication."

For Bipolar Disorder "Took Caplyta for the first time and only time 2 days ago. I am also on lamotrigine 400 mg and Lexapro 15 mg. The next morning, I could barely open my eyes, that’s how drugged up I felt. I felt dizzy, foggy, nauseous, and confused. I had one of the worst headaches I have ever experienced. My husband had to come home from work that morning because I literally could not function and take care of our 9-month-old. I slept all day, but the headache got worse. I did not take it last night, and I am still having horrible side effects. I couldn’t go to work because I still feel very foggy. My insides feel like they are burning. I either need to explosively vomit or go to the bathroom but can’t do either. I still have a severe headache, and my pee is also unusually dark. I’m so bummed. I had high hopes for this med, but I have never reacted to a medication like this in the last 14 years of being on meds."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have only taken this medication for one night, and I'm never taking it again. My body felt like it was on fire, my head was pounding. When I got up, I felt as if I was gonna faint. I was so nauseous, and the next morning, I felt so confused and dizzy. I had to sit down in the shower because I thought I was gonna pass out, and I slept all day because my brain was so foggy."

For Bipolar Disorder "I take Caplyta with 300 mg Effexor daily for MDD (Major Depressive Disorder). At first, I wasn't sure I wanted to continue the medication, I had terrible dry mouth, nausea, trouble sleeping, and dizziness. I'm glad I stayed on it. My depression has greatly improved. I still have low days, but I generally have more energy. I've lost 12 lbs and no longer have suicidal ideation. My only caveat is I find myself with very high anxiety. I don't know if this is due to the medication or life circumstances. Does anyone else have a lot of anxiety since taking Caplyta?"

For Schizophrenia "I was only on Caplyta for two days, and it’s the worst medication I’ve ever tried. The side effects were absolutely awful. I had insane dry mouth. I was so lightheaded that I felt like I was going to fall every time I stood up. I was nauseous and incredibly anxious, to the point where I had anxiety attacks that lasted up to 4 hours. I couldn’t regulate my body temperature, so I was burning hot and freezing at the same time. Within the 2 days, the voices became a lot worse and it was very overwhelming. It was an absolute nightmare and honestly borderline traumatic for me. If you’re sensitive to medication, I wouldn’t take Caplyta."

For Bipolar Disorder "After a year of trying 5 different meds, this has been the most effective by far. I started at 42 mg. The first two weeks I took it, the side effects were unbearable. For me, it was intense dizziness, nausea, headache, and lightheadedness—to the point that I couldn’t drive, and I would repeatedly fall. Despite that, I stuck with it, and I quickly noticed my depressive symptoms improved. After lowering the dose to 21 mg, the side effects almost went completely away. Eventually, Caplyta brought me out of a months-long, severe depressive episode. I still experience mood fluctuation, but it is absolutely manageable. I feel more like myself than I have in a long time. If you can manage to get Caplyta covered by insurance, or if you are able to use the discount card, I absolutely recommend this medication!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I started Caplyta because I was sick of the weight gain, flat affect, and sedation that I was getting from other antipsychotics. The first two weeks were physically rough. I was waking up after 5 hours of sleep every night, I was incontinent of stool 3x, and I was incredibly nauseous with no appetite to the point where I'd go 5 days without eating. Then, after 2-2.5 weeks, something changed. All the side effects went away, and I was finally able to focus on how it made me feel mentally. It has changed my life. My family says I have a completely different personality - one that is engaged in life, confident, calm, social beyond belief, and genuinely happy. I have had no psychosis, and I feel like Caplyta pulled me out of a depression that I had just unconsciously accepted as my 'normal.' I'm very happy I found this drug and will continue to use it. FYI."

For Bipolar Disorder "This was the worst medicine I’ve ever been on. I took it, and one hour later, my skin was burning, and I was so restless despite taking melatonin. Then, I fell asleep and woke up with a massive headache, severe dizziness, and nausea. This lasted all day. I couldn’t make food because of dizziness, and not that that mattered because I was so nauseous I had no appetite. As the day progressed, it never eased to the point where I had to go to the ER. DO NOT TAKE THIS! Try it for yourself, but I’m warning you, it’s done its damage. I’m now terrified to start new meds."

For Bipolar Disorder "This is a very specialized medication. It’s changing everything for me personally. I work in healthcare and have been on the med merry-go-round for a minimum of 15 years. Diagnosis of MDD, PTSD, anxiety/panic attacks, and bipolar II. While, obviously, if you are having any life-threatening side effects, I highly suggest sticking it out for at least a week. Yes, I had the extremely dry mouth, felt drunk in the AM, dizzy, severely tired for the first 5 days. Then things picked up significantly, to the point where I was afraid I may be experiencing hypomania. Immediately spoke with my psychiatrist (knows me well, 6+ years) and after explaining my feelings/actions, she said that it doesn’t sound like hypomania at all and that, most likely, I am actually feeling happiness for the first time. I have just hit the 2-week mark and am still all over the place as far as sleepy or not, hungry/mildly nauseous; overall, I’m not depressed. TBD but feeling better."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have a very severe case of bipolar II. I have been on almost every single mood stabilizer, antidepressant, and antipsychotic known to man. This one did not help me at all. The first week, I was very sick (migraine, nausea, stomach pain, heat regulation), but nothing I couldn't push through. After about day 10, something changed in my brain that sent me into a 20-day-long manic episode with minor psychosis. Nearly hospitalized when I came off the medication due to withdrawal effects. Not the worst medication I've taken, but it's definitely in the top 3."

For Schizophrenia "I have been on Caplyta for a week for schizoaffective disorder. I have had mild nausea, and so far, I have gained 2 pounds in the week I have been on it. Will not tolerate weight gain, and so far, my psychosis is still happening. May go back on Geodon if my symptoms do not improve."

For Schizophrenia "Gave it two weeks, I was hoping the side effects would go away, but they only got worse. Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, restlessness, fatigue. It made my schizoaffective disorder somehow worse, I know this because my symptoms are usually stable. I started pacing around the house, and my 'paranoid senses' were heightened. Therapy seems to help a lot more along with medicine. Therapists give you the tools and skills to deal with most episodes you will have."

For Bipolar Disorder "I first took Caplyta last night. Within 30 minutes, my skin was on fire! No hives, but like someone else said, Icy Hot. Then I projectile vomited all over my bathroom: nausea, diarrhea, terrible headache, and body aches. I was chilled to my bones and then had hot flashes. Fever of 102.1 that didn’t go away with ibuprofen. Then at 5 AM, I started seeing aliens from the corner of my eyes. I took Benadryl and slept with my light on. I had to call into work, and the kids missed school because there was no way I could drive. My body does NOT like this stuff. One and done forever!"

For Bipolar Disorder "After having horrible nausea with lithium, my doctor switched me to Caplyta. I felt my highs and lows to be less dramatic. My biggest issue was the extremely dry mouth, but besides that for me, I didn't have huge issues with the other known side effects."

For Bipolar Disorder "I'm taking Caplyta for bipolar depression. I am 3 weeks in, and the side effects are kind of rough. Super dry mouth and nausea, constant yawning, and like a shaky feeling. I can tell it's working, but now I'm just noticing the side effects."

"I rate this a -10 because it was the worst experience I have ever had with medication. After 1 hour of taking this medication, I became very dizzy and nauseous and began vomiting all day. It lasted for 34 hours. This is the worst experience I have ever had with medication. I will never take it again."
