For Birth Control "I started using birth control for heavy periods senior year of high school. I first used EnkySence, and it gave me bad nausea and horrible acne. I switched to this, and I am on my fourth pack. It keeps my periods lighter and doesn't make me break out. The only problem I have had is if I don't take it within two hours of the time I take it every day, I will start having light bleeding. I don't get nausea and only had mood swings the first week."

"I'm 48 and have been on BCP for 6 years for medical management, first Beyaz, then Yaz, then Vestura, then, I guess, over the last year or so, Loryna. It has 100% helped my symptoms and made my life manageable. I skip placebos and take 3 to 4 packs in a row. My period lasts one to two days. This has saved me from a hysterectomy. Of note, last fall, a benign cyst was found on a breast ultrasound. It was my first ultrasound, so I have no idea how long it's been there. Of note, over the past year or so, I've had unresolved edema in both legs. Of note, when I'm off the pills for my period, the leg swelling is extremely significant, also fatigue and depression, crying. Those mood swings were way worse and much longer lasting before BCP. Of note, since last year, my blood pressure has been a tiny bit high, which it is usually on the low side. I continue to monitor my overall health symptoms to make sure this medication is not otherwise harmful to me. I can't say enough how it has helped my pain."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking Loryna for approximately 4 months. Within the first week, I had horrible mood swings, almost like there was a monkey on my back at all times. I have also been dealing with headaches almost daily since I started these pills, so Excedrin is always nearby. I thought I would give my body time to adjust to the new hormones, but to no avail. I have absolutely no energy and want to sleep all day and have no issues sleeping at night. I have been on birth control for roughly 19 years and have never experienced this with any other birth control before. So now, on to figure out what avenue to go down next."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for a little over a year now. It has balanced my mood, the placebo pills give me a short and light period, usually 4 days long. It cleared up my acne quite a bit, with the exception of the week before I bleed, I’ll get a minor breakout. For the 14 months I’ve been on Loryna, 7 of those months I had irregular spotting every other month or so. I did not experience any body soreness that I’ve experienced on other birth control pills, no sore breasts or sore muscles. I also did not experience any nausea on this birth control."

For Birth Control "I have used this for about 6 months now. It definitely helped with making my periods lighter and a lot less painful. They went from being irregular and lasting 7 or more days to only lasting about 4 days with barely any cramps. The only downside of this is that it definitely affected my mood, and I’ve felt more anxious and depressed since being on this, so I will be switching to a different brand."

For Birth Control "Horrible!! I’ve been on Yaz for 7 months. Aside from breast tenderness, I was fine. Pharmacy suddenly started charging 4x what I had been paying and gave me Loryna. I have experienced the worst gastro-sensitivity, my stomach always feels upset. I’ve been dealing with dark, gooey, light but constant periods for 2 weeks now. I’ve had a constant tension headache and a couple of vomit-inducing migraines, which I haven’t experienced in a decade. I feel so extremely tired, my fiancé keeps asking if I’m okay because I’m taking naps. I’ve been on this for almost 3 months now, and it has taken me some time to connect the dots, but after research and talking to my doctor, it’s definitely this medication. Switching back to Yaz."

For Birth Control "My experience on Loryna has not been a good one. I originally had been on Yaz and Beyaz and had no issues at all! I thought they were miracle pills! I'm in my late thirties and wanted a birth control to help with my moods, breakouts, and period. Unfortunately, Loryna did the opposite for me. After five months of taking it, I have decided to stop. I had bleeding for 2 months straight, acne breakouts on my chest, back, and face. And a ton of pain! As if my uterus was contracting constantly. I finished my last pack/pill and have stopped. Within 2 days of stopping, the bleeding stopped, the pain is gone, and my skin is clearing up. I'm not sure why this happened, but I'm finding generic birth controls are different from the brand. It's frustrating!"

For Birth Control "I just started my second pack, and I am pleased so far with the product. It seems like, based on all the other reviews, this BC is either going to be excellent for you or a nightmare. Luckily, I seem to be responding well. I won't lie, the first week was terrible, but I knew it would be since I was switching from Gildess. The first day was okay, second day I was angry, third day everything made me cry, I literally cried all day long. The next day I was tired, then I was pissed again, and then my hormones finally calmed down. I've noticed my acne and blackheads have cleared up significantly, my appetite is under control, and my moods are more even. I am having a small amount of breakthrough bleeding, which is to be expected on a new BC pill."

For Birth Control "I started Loryna about 3 and a half weeks ago. I was preparing for an IVF embryo transfer. I wanted to select Yaz as the birth control to prepare for my transfer, but learned Yaz is no longer on the market. This should have been my first clue that a generic form of a drug that was off the market might still not be safe. I started taking Loryna. About a week and a half after taking it, I felt a pain in my calf. The pain intensified to the point I could hardly walk. I decided to check on this, and it was found that I formed a blood clot behind my knee. I was advised to stop Loryna immediately. I now have to take 2 shots a day of blood thinners for 3 to 6 months. I also think my IVF will be canceled because of this. No history of blood clots."

For Birth Control "This has been the worst pill. I don’t recommend this. I had bad acne, horrible pains in my stomach, arms. My head pounded continuously, and my moods were horrible. I was only on it for three weeks, and I felt awful."

For Menstrual Disorders "I've been taking BC pills for nearly 20 years to help regulate my cycles and ease the horrible cramping and mood swings. My insurance stopped covering the pill I was on previously, so I switched to Loryna. I liked the idea of only having 4 placebo pills compared with the 7 in my last brand. Pros of this pill? My sex drive was through the roof, and it felt like a love potion for me and my guy."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for about a month. What I loved about it is I felt great on it-periods were light, my headaches I had from previous BC were gone, I lost weight, and even felt more balanced mood-wise on this pill. I loved it. Then all of a sudden, I got a breakout of eczema under my armpits. I have never had an issue with eczema in my life. It was embarrassing because my armpits itched all the time. It also spread to my legs all of a sudden. My general doctor got some cream to put on it, and it still was not clearing up after 3 weeks. I decided to switch back to my previous BC, and within 2 days, the eczema started to feel better and eventually cleared. I am not sure what I was allergic to in that medication, but it didn't like me."

For Birth Control "I have been on Loryna for about 9 months now. I have PCOS and struggled with heavy periods (sometimes twice a month), horrible cramps, mood swings, and acne. Since starting Loryna, I'm now able to skip my periods altogether, getting rid of almost all my negative side effects (still get pretty emotional around the time my period would come). I did gain about 10 lbs, and my motivation to work out is almost pretty low. I used to go to the gym 5 days a week and eat healthy. I now crave unhealthy foods more and dread the gym. Maybe this is just an excuse, lol, but I had to stop for about two weeks due to my prescription being shipped to a previous address, and immediately my motivation to work out and eat healthy came back. But back to a positive note: my skin has never been clearer, and I would recommend this birth control to a friend in a heartbeat."

For Acne "I've had a great experience with Loryna, it's cleared up my acne, and I don't get a period at all on this pill. No cramps or moodiness. As a person with anxiety/depression and mood swings, Loryna has kept me feeling pretty balanced. The week before and during my period would always make my mental health take a dip, but not since I started Loryna. The only side effects I've had are lower sex drive (I've always had a low sex drive anyway) and tender breasts. Overall, big positives! I hope this helps someone out there."

For Acne "I’ve been on Loryna for a couple of years now (maybe 3 or 4?). I absolutely LOVE this pill for controlling my acne. It is the only other thing besides daily antibiotics (doxycycline) that have controlled my acne. I tried Sprintec prior to this, and it did nothing for my acne. Short term, I have had no side effects from Loryna. No weight gain, no extreme mood swings, nothing. My only complaint and reason for considering switching is that after taking this long term, I recently developed spider veins on my thighs. I have NEVER had such a thing, so it was very concerning as I am only 25 and in very good health, and as I know there are increased risks for DVT while taking this drug. Recently, the areas on my thigh where the spider veins developed have become somewhat painful at work (as I stand all day). I attribute the development of the spider veins directly to Loryna, as this is the only medication I have taken the past couple of years. It is such a shame because I absolutely love what it has done for my skin (flawless even during the time around my period), but the veins cause a large concern for me, so I am heavily considering switching. Overall, I love Loryna for the shorter term, however, if you plan to be on it for a few years, it may be concerning. I also know someone else who was on Gianvi (another generic for Yaz), and the same thing happened to her regarding spider/varicose veins."

For Birth Control "I have only been on Loryna for a month. Please avoid taking this birth control. I took it for one month and can't take it. I thought I was going crazy, I don't even recognize my own house. I have severe anxiety to the point where I'm crying all day. And on top of it, I'm having symptoms of IBS that I hope clear up, 'cause I just can't deal with that. The stomach problems are so bad I've lost 15 pounds in less than a week 'cause of the extreme gastrointestinal symptoms. I'm just hoping I can clear all this up, please pray for me. I stopped taking the pills, it has only been a day. I just hope I can recover from the negative side effects this pill has caused. Correction: I will recover, it's going to take time, but I will get through this. AVOID LORYNA at all costs, and any birth control that contains those synthetic hormones, drospirenone."

For Acne "I’ve been on Loryna for 6 years, and it’s great. I used to have awful, painful periods with heavy bleeding that would leave me crying in bed, unable to move at 16 years old. I started on a different pill, can’t remember what, and it was awful. It made me moody and didn’t help. I switched to Loryna and saw almost an immediate difference. It cleared my skin right up for the most part, I would only get a zit or two per period, nothing major. And it made my cramps go away almost completely, plus made my period so light and only lasts 3-4 days (but it’s so light I can use one panty liner all day long on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th day if I spot a bit towards the end). I’ve had these continuous results since I started, and I love this pill. I would 10/10 recommend it to anyone looking to start on the pill."

For Birth Control "So far, so good! The first few days were a bit rough, I experienced some mood swings and negative thoughts, and some wild dreams. Even a few pimples showed up. It seems the side effects have subsided, and my body is starting to get used to it. I would definitely recommend trying it and giving it a few days, you'll start to feel like your normal self again."

For Menstrual Disorders "I'm 52 with heavy, long-lasting periods. I was hoping for a lot more results. I took it for 7 months, giving it a fair try. Unfortunately, it wasn't the answer. I have bad cramps, it's heavy, blood clots still. No sex drive, fatigue, it made me crazy, and I drove my husband away. I do not recommend it."

For Acne "I had tried just about everything for acne, from topical creams to antibiotics. I had been on various different antibiotics for acne over the past four years and was ready to stop always taking antibiotics that never truly cleared my skin fully anyway. It's my second month on Yaz, and I've noticed improvement in my skin without taking the antibiotics. The first month, I had a pretty bad breakout, mood swings, bad cramping, and cravings. I noticed a sort of constant breast tenderness and swelling, but especially so nearing my period. My sex drive has also significantly decreased, and in the first month, I would actually cry for no reason at all (moodiness). The best part is that my insurance covers this completely. I pay nothing out of pocket."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control. I have taken it on and off for many years. After a month of adjusting and taking it on time, I do not have side effects. I have less severe PMS and lighter periods. I was taking Yaz for PMDD, I do not think it worked any better than Loryna. I have a great sex drive and have not gained any weight. I do feel as though my breasts feel a tad fuller even though I have adjusted to the pill with time. I think this helps with water weight gain, something I have suffered from due to PMDD. My skin stays clearer. Do not smoke on this pill. I would definitely recommend it to those with severe PMS."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Loryna for 6 months now, and I'm 90% positive this is what is making me feel nauseous. I've been eating healthy and even tried taking my BC with food, but every day I'm so nauseous to the point where I barely want to eat, and the smell of food makes me want to get sick. I'm switching back to Lo Loestrin Fe. It did help my acne, but it isn't worth it!"

For Acne "I have suffered from acne for years. I've tried almost everything, and nothing seemed to work, so my dermatologist put me on Loryna. The good thing about Loryna is it did help with my acne. I would still get the occasional pimple, but my breakouts weren't as bad as they were before. The bad thing about Loryna is it made me gain a lot of weight and gave me horrible mood swings. It made me obsessed with food. I would be extremely hungry throughout the day and get anxious if I didn't get the chance to eat when I wanted. Also, it made me so much more irritable. I would get mad very easily and snap at people. I ended up going off of the pill because, although it helped with my acne, the weight gain and mood swings weren't worth it."

For Birth Control "This is the first BC I have ever taken, and I’m generally pleased with it. I started when I was 18 to regulate my periods and clear my skin. PROS: I literally never feel the need to wear makeup anymore because my skin is always so clear. This is huge because I have struggled with acne for a very long time. My periods are very normal with no cramping or PMS (sometimes slight mood swings). I typically do not use condoms and have not had any scares. CONS: The only things I have noticed are weight gain, and the first couple of months of taking it, I had extreme pain/cramping in my legs in the middle of the night, but that has stopped. Also, in the first few months, my eyes were sensitive and irritated from my contacts, but that has also gone away. Overall, I think it takes getting used to, and it’s different for everyone, but I have had a very positive experience so far and plan to continue using this brand."
