For Acne "Don't take Loryna. I'm 20 and barely had acne before starting this pill- just a touch here and there before my period but nothing major. I got on it for birth control and almost immediately broke the left side of my face out in severe pimples. "Stick out out," they say. "Your body needs 3 months to adjust to the hormone fluctuation," they said. More acne on my chin, the right side of my face, jaw line, and has now migrated to my nose and forehead. And not just small little pimples, but terrible cystic acne. What's worse is what it leaves behind: red scarring that takes months to heal. Loryna did not make me gain weight, however it did leave spider veins. Transitioning off of this pill is even harder as your testosterone levels fluctuate producing more androgens, leaving cystic acne in its wake. These have been some of the most terrible 3 months. I don't even like to leave my house without full coverage foundation anymore. Now, I'm in the long process of trying to heal my face."

For Birth Control "I’m 30 and have been on some form of birth control since I was 15. I started Yaz/ Gianvi maybe 7 or 8 years ago and loved it! I was given Loryna 4/5 months ago. I must be an idiot because it took me up until yesterday to connect the dots. I’ve gotten my period every single month 10-3 days before finishing my active pills. I thought I was going absolute crazy because I never missed any! I’ve had horrible cramps and bloating; my breasts have increased a full cup size and are extremely sore - the only time of the month I get any reprieve is when I stop the pill for my period which is now 10 days long and super heavy and full of clots. I also have insomnia (fall asleep after 3 every night) cystic acne (this is new), depression, lack of energy, constant yeast infections/ BV, and a feeling of constant PMS....Did I make myself clear that I am bloated and have cramps and breast tenderness EVERY DAY? DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I tried to take beyaz again which was the only birthcontrol I liked ever. My insurance refuses to cover it, so I figured a yaz generic would be similiar enough. I FIRMLY BELIEVE WHATS IN THIS GENERIC IS NOT AT ALL THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL. How could the same exact medicine affect me so negatively. I took this for two weeks and felt like I was physically having a panic attack all the time. I got this to help me during my hardest time of period. (right before I get it) and spent these past two weeks losing my mind. I do not even believe the positive reviews on this site are legitimate. I was tired, hungry, nauseous and unable to do my daily tasks. No sex drive. I tried taking it at night to combat these negative things. No escape. Don't take it"

For Birth Control "I love this birth control. Face is absolutely clear, weight is constant, sex drive is amazing, periods are light, PMS is a little higher than usual but nothing excessive. The only thing I worry about is anxiety has increased, but so have other factors in my life that could cause increased anxiety so I don't want to blame it solely on BC. I've been on this birth contol for 2.5 years now- no complaints! However, probably looking into an IUD very soon...Easier for my busy lifestyle. If you take a pill I would recommend this! Makes me sad it has such a low rating."

For Birth Control "Loryna is the only medication that finally, at last, controlled my PMDD! I have had excellent success with this medication and could even lose some weight on it (!!). In combination with Lexapro my mental health improved. It truly helped with my fatigue as well, which is ultimately what I was looking to control. I docked a point for that dang risk of blood clots."

For Acne "I was a little nervous about switching to Loryna after seeing all the mixed reviews, but I am so glad I did. Within the first 2 months I already had the clearest skin I've had since childhood. Even after warning my boyfriend that I might be moody or not in the mood after switching, I saw none of these negative side effects. Medications never act the same way for every person, but this worked wonders for me."

For Birth Control "I was on Blisovi for over a year and switched to Loryna to treat acne. I would not recommend this pill. I experienced horrible anxiety and nausea. I lost my appetite completely. I was having panic attacks and heart palpitations. It took me about 2 months to realize it was the pill giving me the side effects. I have stopped taking it and feel a lot better."

For Acne "Was on Nikki which was great but getting my prescription through Nurx which seems to send any extra inventory of whatever birth control they happen to have on hand. Have been on loryna (the generic Nikki ) for 3 weeks and have had cystic horrible acne all over my chin for the last 2 weeks and it is also my chest to the point where I can't wear any shirt that show's an ounce of chest skin. Luckily it's winter. I've had breakthrough bleeding but started my full blown super tampons period yesterday. Mid pill pack? Have also been depressed and moody and angry. I've had bad skin the majority of my life and been through the whole rigamarole including over the counter meds, every prescription topical, all the antibiotics, being on antibiotics for years at a time, birth control, spironolactone, accutane, laser treatments, red & blue light therapy, no dairy, no sugar, no food at all, etc etc etc. Accutane is the only thing that calmed my skin some. But now on loryna I feel like my skin has reverted back to being like before I did all my acne treatments"

For Acne "I have always had horrible acne. Even after a round of accutane it came back a few years later. After I had my son It got worse so I looked into yaz. My gyno was on it as well so she did make me feel more comfortable with taking it as I was very cautious due to the reviews online. I have cystic acne, I don't remember a time where I had less than 3 pimples on my face. I've been on Loryna for 6 months and my skin is clear!! Only break out (literally 1 pimple) when my period is coming or if I forget to wash my face. But 1 pimple is sooooo much better than the endless amounts I would get before yaz."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Loryna has helped my PMDD somewhat. I also have cut meat mostly and am very active and limit drinking. My issues with this are breast pain, constant bloat. I thought I had a sensitive gut before but have issues where my pants sometimes don’t fit by the evening. I drink tons of water and limit inflammatory foods but it still doesn’t help. I bleed randomly. Right now I have 5 pills left before the white pills and am bleeding. I spotted for a week before that. This happens without rhyme or reason. My skin looks good but to be honest, I take good care of it. I am sure it’s contributing but habits are, too. The headaches I get on this medication are terrifying and sometimes last three days. I felt so validated finding this forum because I thought something was really wrong. My libido is significantly lower and it’s difficult to achieve arousal. I never had an issue with that before. The worst: my blood pressure is now elevated. I just asked my dr about an alternate treatment."

For Birth Control "I was on Loryna for 8 months and It started out great. My acne cleared up, and I didn’t notice any major changes besides my boobs grew from a B to a C. After about 4-5 months I started noticing signs like SEVERE mood swings. My anxiety level was awful, I would cry all the time over nothing, I have never been depressed before and I started having bad thoughts constantly. I was extremely tired all the time and I would sleep about 16 hrs a day. I felt bloated all the time and I was hospitalized with severe constipation. I had to have a tube go up my nose and into my stomach to drain me since I wasn’t going to the bathroom. Once realizing this could be my birth control, stopped taking it. I’ve been off of it for about 2 years now and I'm completely back to normal. It does effect everyone differently but this was my experience."

For Birth Control "It upsets me to see all these horrible reviews because I have had little to no problems on this birth control. I have been taking this pill for 6 months, my skin is great, my period is short and light, and I have had no nausea with it. I do have occasional mood swings, but nothing horrible. I highly suggest this brand."

For Birth Control "Nurx switched me from Nikki to Loryna and so far, I’m noticing that my temper is very short. I used to be a pretty calm person but three weeks into this and I’m getting extremely angry over trivial things and just don’t feel all that great. No issues with acne or weight gain but the bad mood part is just incredibly noticeable. I’ve also started waking up multiple times during the night which has never been an issue for me either. I would say, if you can handle being angry a lot and poor sleep then Loryna is okay but I personally do not like it."

For Acne "I was on Nikki birth control for probably a year had no issues and loved it! My skin was super clear and I had no side effects. The pharmacy switched me to another generic Loryna because it was the “same”. Biggest mistake EVER. Ever since I started it have been dealing with constant bloating, mood swings, and terrible yeast infections. Before starting this pill I had never had a yeast infection in my life , now since starting it I can’t go more than a week without getting one!! Whatever you do stay away from this generic form."

For Birth Control "This is my second month using this birth control and I really like it. I started birth control on the first day of my period and did have breakthrough bleeding for around a week and a half after my period. I got my period around 4 days earlier since it was the placebo week. My period before birth control was usually heavy and lasted around a week but I noticed it lasted only 4 days and wasn’t heavy at all. I think my body is adjusting well to the pill and I’m expected to get my period in a week since it is the placebo week. I’m hoping it does come cause then that means my body has adjusted, and still is adjusting well to the pill. I did notice I have been a lot happier and have had a higher sex drive with the pill. Prior to the pill, I was a bit depressed but I feel good, which is weird because a lot of girls mentioned they get really bad mood swings with the pill. Anyways so far so good I will come back in a few months to update you all."

For Acne "I've been on Yaz, BeYaz, and Gianvi, all of which did wonders for my skin. Recently I was given Loryna by my pharmacy. Not thinking anything of it, I started my pack as usual. Not only did this pill immediately give me daily cystic breakouts along my jaw/cheeks/chin, but it also introduced me to the nightmare that is back acne. Having never suffered from breakouts on my back, this caused a whole new form of embarrassment, and just in time for summer! I suffered through the pack then asked to go back to Gianvi. 2 weeks later my skin and back are clearing up beautifully. I've read multiple reviews of people having the same problem; if you notice your acne getting worse on Loryna, don't wait it out--switch back to Gianvi or name brand Yaz!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this BC for a month now, the first week was a little bumpy with emotions. I highly recommend giving it a week before making your decision on whether or not to stick with it. I'm back to my normal self now, I feel good and don't notice any side effects what-so-ever. My face is clear, sex drive normal. Overall, highly satisfied with this birth control."

For Birth Control "I have been on Loryna for 3 months. There were no symptoms up until the second pack, I had heavy mood swings, got really mad at little things, became very impatient. I had never had period cramps before birth control, and when my period comes, I get painful cramps, lower back pain and headaches. People started noticing why I wasn’t “being myself.” I’m switching because I feel miserable. But my skin looks so healthy. You can’t base your experience with birth control with all of these reviews, because everyone will react differently."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I recently started taking birth control for my PMDD and this is my second pack (Gianvi with my 1st, Loryna for the 2nd). I'm also diagnosed with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) with Panic Disorder and depressive symptoms. When I was taking Gianvi, I had no anxiety, mood swings, a short period that lasted 4 days (it used to be 7-9), and my relationship around people, especially my boyfriend, is stable. It's only been my third week of using Loryna, and my anxiety and depression is back, I break out easily, I've been feeling this terrible ache in my lower abdomen, and I've been constantly arguing with my boyfriend. I'm definitely calling my doctor to change prescriptions!!!"

For Birth Control "I started using Loryna my senior year of high school, and since then it has only helped me. I had painful cystic acne that elevated when stressed, but being on loryna slowly made it go away. I never had cramps, only really bad back pain before Loryna. Which went away after I started taking it. It eventually made my period go from moderate-heavy to spotting-light. I experienced no weight gain, but I am quite active (sports or gym 3x a week and lots of walking) and I eat very balanced. I never realized until I started taking Loryna that I had PMDD. Before, I was extremely suicidal, depressed, and manic before and during my period. It completely made it go away. I always tell people that birth control saved my life because in some ways it actually did. I had no idea what was wrong with me, but once it went away I finally realized that I could never go back to the pre-Loryna days. As far as birth control goes I have never had a pregnancy scare."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have been on this pill for over a year now. I have not had any negative side effects. No cramping or spotting or any weight gain. My bra size went from a 32B to a 32D, can't complain about that. I have endometriosis, and my periods without this pill were a painful nightmare. I was fainting due to the severity of my cramps, I was also vomiting due to the pain. I became anemic due to it too, but since going on this pill it is a breeze. I usually skip the inactive pills and just not have a period, but when I do it is about 3-4 days long with moderate cramping. Not as bad as before. I have no complaints or problems."

For Birth Control "It's been 4 months on this pill, and the 2nd month was probably the worst. I had nonstop spotting for a week. After that month, however, I had much lighter, shorter periods. Appetite: noticeably increased, not sure if bc or cold weather or holiday season Weight: no noticeable change Energy: no noticeable change Mood: no noticeable change Negative Symptoms: headaches/migraines, temporary spotting one month Positive symptoms: shorter period, significantly less acne"

For Birth Control "I was on this for less than 2 years. It cleared my acne and had no bad side effects until about a year and a half in. I couldn’t breathe and had horrible chest pain. Couldn’t walk 2 minutes without having to sit down and catch my breath. I am 21 years old and have never had a kid or miscarriage. It formed a saddle pulmonary embolism in my lungs and I was in the ICU. I was told I would have died if I would’ve gone in a day later. I am now having to take a life threatening blood thinner 2x a day. Don’t take Loryna."

For Birth Control "With this birth control Loryna I had only taken it for two weeks. If that doesn’t tell you anything I don’t know what does. I’m diagnosed with endometriosis which means I’m always at a high risk for cramping, blood clots and all that jazz. I was on Sprintec for a year and it just wasn’t right for me. My doctor had prescribed me Loryna and I’ve never felt more like a crazy person in my life!! As soon as I started taking it I realized a change in my moods and how I acted. I had horrible anxiety and depression for as long as I was on it!! This pill I do not recommend what so ever!"

For Acne "I have never written one of these before, but my results have been amazing so I had to share! I was on Yaz for about 9 years to treat my acne, but it never, in 9 years cleared my skin! I struggled with cystic acne mainly on my chin and forehead and literally always had a pimple on my face. After starting Loryna, my skin began to clear up! Now I'm about to start my third pack and my skin is completely clear! I literally get like one pimple right before my period but its gone before my period is even over. I have no side effects. This has seriously changed my life and it's so worth a try!"
