For Birth Control "Switched to Loryna to help with acne and didn’t notice a change at first, but it gave me severe anxiety, and I felt hopeless and depressed every day, even to the point of having suicidal thoughts. I thought I was going crazy because of how fuzzy and out of it I felt. Didn’t feel like myself at all, had no appetite, GI issues, and heart palpitations. It is not worth it for a little less acne. I've only been off it a couple of weeks, and I feel SO much better."

For Birth Control "I was on the pill Loryna for a year and finally got off of it. I was on it originally for acne and then for the birth control aspect. I have never felt so anxious or depressed in my life. I continued to blame my irrational emotions and physical appearance on circumstances in my life but had no idea that this was primarily due to this prescription. I gained weight, which was really weird for me because I was a college athlete, working out 2-3 times a day. I began to develop some pain in my left breast, eventually getting an ultrasound because my doctor was concerned by some lumps that she felt. The radiologist told me that I had an extreme amount of extra breast tissue due to this prescription. I had panic attacks on a daily basis and nightmares almost every night. I highly recommend not taking this. I wish someone would have warned me about everything I was about to go through."

For Acne "I have had the worst luck with side effects from birth control pills. I'm talking insomnia, severe cystic acne, becoming an emotional wreck with anxiety and depression; you name it, and it probably happened to me. Yaz (generic Loryna) was the best one I've taken. I'm sleeping (which is huge for me), I'm not biting everyone's heads off or crying hysterically, and my acne has cleared up, which was my main concern. I have tried 5 different birth control pills, and Yaz is working amazing for me. I gave it 9 stars because I do have some occasional chest pain when I take this pill. I'm not sure if it's caused by Yaz or what, but it seemed to start when I started this pill. I'll continue to update everyone on my progress!"

For Birth Control "I’m finishing my third pack of Loryna. I’ve really struggled with giving my body the adequate time to adjust to it, but I can’t take the side effects anymore. I switched because the last few pills I tried did not clear up my hormonal acne. Loryna has helped clear up my skin, and my period is much lighter, both of which are nice. However, I also take Vyvanse for ADHD and narcolepsy, and I swear Loryna is messing with the effectiveness. I’m incredibly fatigued and sleepy all of the time now. I’m also experiencing awful headaches. I’m so depressed and anxious to where I can hardly recognize myself. My boobs have gone up a cup size, I’ve gained 11 pounds, and yes, I’m starving all the time. I have done intermittent fasting for the last two years and dropped 25 pounds, but rapidly gaining 11 pounds in under three months and struggling with my intermittent fasting, along with other side effects, is ruining my self-image and happiness."

For Birth Control "I was on Blisovi for over a year and switched to Loryna to treat acne. I would not recommend this pill. I experienced horrible anxiety and nausea. I lost my appetite completely. I was having panic attacks and heart palpitations. It took me about 2 months to realize it was the pill giving me the side effects. I have stopped taking it and feel a lot better."

For Birth Control "I was on Loryna for 8 months and it started out great. My acne cleared up, and I didn’t notice any major changes besides my boobs growing from a B to a C. After about 4-5 months, I started noticing signs like severe mood swings. My anxiety level was awful, I would cry all the time over nothing. I have never been depressed before, and I started having bad thoughts constantly. I was extremely tired all the time, and I would sleep about 16 hours a day. I felt bloated all the time, and I was hospitalized with severe constipation. I had to have a tube go up my nose and into my stomach to drain me since I wasn’t going to the bathroom. Once realizing this could be my birth control, I stopped taking it. I’ve been off of it for about 2 years now, and I'm completely back to normal. It does affect everyone differently, but this was my experience."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control. Face is absolutely clear, weight is constant, sex drive is amazing, periods are light, PMS is a little higher than usual, but nothing excessive. The only thing I worry about is anxiety has increased, but so have other factors in my life that could cause increased anxiety, so I don't want to blame it solely on BC. I've been on this birth control for 2.5 years now - no complaints! However, I'm probably looking into an IUD very soon... easier for my busy lifestyle. If you take a pill, I would recommend this! Makes me sad it has such a low rating."

For Menstrual Disorders "This birth control made my life a living hell. First, my emotions went out of control. I was always moody, terribly anxious, and started to become depressed. Following this came the real reason why I am writing this review. I went on this birth control to help with my irregular and heavy periods. When the day came, I never experienced cramps so painful in my life. The only thing that I can compare it to is when I had to have an emergency appendectomy because it was about to explode. With this, my period was the heaviest it has ever been and has been going on for 2 weeks now. This pill did much more harm than good for me and I would never suggest it to someone."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I recently started taking birth control for my PMDD, and this is my second pack (Gianvi with my 1st, Loryna for the 2nd). I'm also diagnosed with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) with panic disorder and depressive symptoms. When I was taking Gianvi, I had no anxiety or mood swings, a short period that lasted 4 days (it used to be 7-9), and my relationship with people, especially my boyfriend, was stable. It's only been my third week of using Loryna, and my anxiety and depression are back. I break out easily, I've been feeling this terrible ache in my lower abdomen, and I've been constantly arguing with my boyfriend. I'm definitely calling my doctor to change prescriptions!!!"

For Menstrual Disorders "I switched from Lo Loestrin Fe because it made me stop having periods and made me nervous that I was pregnant because I didn't get my period. I switched to Loryna, and my periods came back and weren't irregular anymore, fairly light, and less cramps. I have barely any acne besides some occasional acne on my backside. I've been having mood swings, low and high periods that last a week or so. It started affecting my relationship in a negative way, and I've had more anxiety attacks than I did without it. Didn't make me gain weight at all, although it did make my depression a bit worse. I recommend this birth control but advise being careful, and if you notice it taking a toll on your mental health, then switch. I haven't switched yet."

For Birth Control "I switched from Tri-Sprintec to Loryna. I was originally placed on birth control for hormonal acne, which proved to be a lifesaver. However, I switched to Loryna and, after the first month, have not gotten a period in close to three months. Unsure if this is common, but the lack of period and increased anxiety while on this medication makes me want to switch back for peace of mind."

For Birth Control "With this birth control, Loryna, I had only taken it for two weeks. If that doesn’t tell you anything, I don’t know what does. I’m diagnosed with endometriosis, which means I’m always at a high risk for cramping, blood clots, and all that jazz. I was on Sprintec for a year, and it just wasn’t right for me. My doctor had prescribed me Loryna, and I’ve never felt more like a crazy person in my life!! As soon as I started taking it, I realized a change in my moods and how I acted. I had horrible anxiety and depression for as long as I was on it!! This pill I do not recommend whatsoever!"

For Birth Control "I was on Loryna for the last 2 years. For the first year, I really had no issues at all. My periods were super light, only 3 days at a time. My skin cleared up a bit, and I only had the occasional breakout. However, this definitely gave me a lot of anxiety, my family noticed, and so did my boyfriend. More recently, I began to have panic attacks, so I decided to stop. Overall, this worked effectively for me for a while, and I really had no issues for a long time."

For Birth Control "I've been on Loryna for 1 and a half months and stopped taking it. The first month, it was okay besides breast tenderness. I have irregular periods, so I went on birth control to regulate them. But by the second week of my second pack, I felt extreme high anxiety. I'm not normally an anxious person, you know, some anxiety here and there. But the amount of anxiety I was experiencing was not like usual. I was waking up almost every night in panic attacks and tossing and turning, not being able to fall asleep. Then it started throughout the day, me being anxious just watching a movie, my mind would be racing. I remember not really being able to pinpoint what my anxiety was from, but I woke up one morning and realized the new thing I've been taking is birth control. So I stopped it and noticed throughout the day already it has been much better with anxiety. Sometimes in the night, I'm still anxious, but I just stopped it a day ago. I don't recommend this pill."

For Acne "Loryna gives me horrible side effects. Super depressed, anxious all the time. It makes me cry every single day throughout the entire day for the whole first week. The second week got slightly better, cried less, but I can't feel happy at all! Nothing makes me happy for the entire time that I was taking the pill! It never happened in my life before. I was feeling miserable for nonsense reasons. I was aware that my thoughts and my actions were being ridiculous. However, my mood, my thoughts, and everything about myself were out of control. It also caused me to have a super difficult time falling asleep and staying asleep. It gives me super strong headaches throughout the entire time. My body gets easily numb when I stay in a pose for only a few seconds. I was restless, having headaches, strengthless, sad mood throughout the whole time that I was taking it. It started causing me heart pain in the last week even!"

For Birth Control "I have used this for about 6 months now. It definitely helped with making my periods lighter and a lot less painful. They went from being irregular and lasting 7 or more days to only lasting about 4 days with barely any cramps. The only downside of this is that it definitely affected my mood, and I’ve felt more anxious and depressed since being on this, so I will be switching to a different brand."

For Birth Control "I have only been on Loryna for a month. Please avoid taking this birth control. I took it for one month and can't take it. I thought I was going crazy, I don't even recognize my own house. I have severe anxiety to the point where I'm crying all day. And on top of it, I'm having symptoms of IBS that I hope clear up, 'cause I just can't deal with that. The stomach problems are so bad I've lost 15 pounds in less than a week 'cause of the extreme gastrointestinal symptoms. I'm just hoping I can clear all this up, please pray for me. I stopped taking the pills, it has only been a day. I just hope I can recover from the negative side effects this pill has caused. Correction: I will recover, it's going to take time, but I will get through this. AVOID LORYNA at all costs, and any birth control that contains those synthetic hormones, drospirenone."

For Birth Control "Since they discontinued Vestura, they switched me (without my prior knowledge) to Loryna. My anxiety is higher, and I have about 5-8 pounds of water weight/bloat that I can't get rid of. I'm no saint with eating, but I can usually reduce calories and be back at my normal weight- not now. I'm calling my doctor today; I've been on it three months, and it hasn't gotten any better."

For Menstrual Disorders "DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE. Seriously, just don't. It's poison. I have PCOS and was prescribed Yaz back in high school (I am 24 now, so 8+ years later). Yaz made me an emotional disaster, even having suicidal thoughts and fits of rage. I went on Lo-Estrin & had great results before discontinuing after 5 years. Fast forward to now, and my new doctor prescribed me this. It was worse than Yaz. I would cry for hours at a time. I was so anxious and irritable. I was absolutely awful to my partner. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy, 0/10."

For Acne "I started this birth control about 2 weeks ago for my acne, PMS, endometriosis. I've been on multiple different pills and have only found one that has worked perfectly for me (Mononessa), but sadly they discontinued it a couple of months ago. I'm on my second week of Loryna pills and I'm already having to stop taking it. People are already telling me that I'm not acting like myself. I've been crying all week, moody, even suicidal, which is not like me at all. I've had some nausea, but not terrible, but my acne has gotten 10 times worse within a week and I have cysts on my face, and even body acne on my back and chest. My anxiety has also been through the roof and my ears ring multiple times a day when they didn't before. I don't recommend this birth control at all."

For Acne "If I could give this generic a 0, I would. I began birth control (Apri to Loryna) for my chest acne, but it isn't helping. I switched from Apri to Loryna because of an emptiness, as though I felt like I was dead inside. However, Loryna has made it worse! It was fine the first couple of months, but as I started my 3rd pack, I began having anxiety attacks (never had them) and a worse feeling of emptiness. I'm constantly overthinking everything, and little things bug me so much more than usual! I had hip surgery during my last pack, so maybe the other drugs I took were causing my body to freak out, but that should have no effect for this month. I'm 19, and I'm concerned it will affect my relationship with my boyfriend soon!"

"Loryna is the only BC I have been on, prescribed to manage PMDD. It's so drastic I think I may also be bipolar, lol. Personally, my body's adjustment to taking hormones every day has been the worst part of it all. I am extremely sensitive to what I put into my body, so when I started taking, my reaction was violent. For the first 3 months, I had more frequent/intense cramps, irrational emotional reactions to everything, boobs sore and swollen EVERY DAY, majorly heightened anxiety/more easily depressed. - Positive changes: actual period is so much lighter/predictable, bleeding lasts for only about 4 days, yay :) MUCH LESS ACNE - Negative lasting effects: constant pain in breasts, NO SEX DRIVE :/ constant cramping, feels like I’m always in pain. **Stopped taking Loryna because my mood swings were still SO intense I wanted to remove the factor of taking hormones every day to see if I could stabilize myself. But my period was too irregular and even more painful without BC, so I am back on it now.**"

For Menstrual Disorders "I would recommend this to anyone wanting to control hormones. I was very depressed, anxious, gained a lot of weight due to constant cravings. It's good for acne, my face was clear as it was with Yaz. I had to get my insurance to prior authorize this only to have bad side effects. Was on this for approx. 8 months and gained 20 pounds from not wanting to leave the couch and bad depression/anxiety. I thought it was something else until I stopped taking it. I can't take generics, always a problem. I'm going back on Yaz, was never an issue for me, even lost weight."

For Birth Control "I tried Sprintec and Tri Sprintec before this and experienced more migraines, anxiety, and heart palpitations. I’ve been taking this for over a year and experience only good things like less bloating, clearer skin, and a stable mood. I do feel like I get dehydrated faster, so make sure to drink more fluids with this. I would definitely recommend this if you have bad side effects from other birth control."
