For Dental Abscess "I really thought it was my sinuses. My left side of my face was throbbing and full of pressure, as well as my jaw and chin, gums and teeth hurt to the touch. I kept taking the real Sudafed, Benadryl, and Tylenol. Did not even put a dent in relief. Went to the dentist on Thursday, May 2nd, 2019. Saw a massive infection in the bottom gum, hole in the tooth, and infection in the jawbone! Talk about pain! I took two 500 mg Amoxicillin as soon as I got the bottle. Then 1 every 8 hours. It's now Saturday and what a difference. Jaw still sore beyond belief but not throbbing. Ecstatic is how I feel now. Tired, shaky, moody, stomach pain, but that does not compare to a severe infection that spread to root and bone. Amoxicillin does work."

For Dental Abscess "I'm a 54-year-old, 235 lb, healthy white male. I was prescribed amoxicillin by my dentist. Reason: I had a toothache for five days, finally went to see my dentist. The gum around one molar was infected, painful to the touch, and with pus coming out when the dentist poked it with her dental instrument. She prescribed a dose of 500 mg tablets to take three times per day for seven days. After just one day of taking the drug, my pain was almost completely gone. Three days into the treatment, both the pain and the infection were completely gone. I'm on the last day of my seven-day treatment and no side effects at all, except I'm feeling a bit more tired than usual, but I sleep like a baby at night. I'm very happy with this drug."

For Bacterial Infection "Taking amoxicillin for a tooth infection, the first day of taking it was horrible. The tooth hurt more than it did before I started, but I think that was the drug doing its job trying to fight off the infection. Second day, same situation, still more pain. The third day was great, finally no more pain from the toothache! Pain-free. Only thing is I woke up with swollen gums. Side effects from this drug are hard to bear, especially for me since I work 9-9. I was very tired on a daily basis, my body was weak, stomach pain, woke up in the middle of the night not being able to sleep. I mean, side effects were horrible, but I only had to take this drug for 7 days until I was able to get the tooth pulled. Thank God."

For Bacterial Infection "Have IBS, recently got worse, so was given this antibiotic in case I had an infection. Felt fine day 1, day 2 began to feel nauseous, abdominal pains, acid reflux, extremely tired, loss of appetite, headache, and feeling very ill in general. I was taking 3x 500g every day but only managed to get to day 2 till I stopped. Wouldn’t recommend this antibiotic if you already have stomach problems!!"

For Bacterial Infection "This drug was really effective in getting rid of my infection, but the side effects were difficult to deal with. The tablets made me so exhausted I really struggled to stay awake all day. My eyes would droop at my desk, and I felt lightheaded and dizzy. I found it extremely hard to concentrate. I had to leave work early taking this tablet because I could not focus, and many times, when my colleagues helped drive me home, they had to help me walk to the car because I was so weak and unfocused I couldn't walk in a straight line. I also felt nauseous for most of the day and had mild stomach cramps. It was wonderful for the infection I had, but it was the hardest week coping with the exhaustion and drowsiness."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have been taking Amoxicillin 875 twice a day for 6 days for a UTI. Still have the frequency with urinating. Feel bad. Always tired, and it doesn’t seem to help. Cannot sleep at night, the medicine is not working. Been drinking lots of water and cranberry juice and don’t feel any better. Also have chills at times. Think I’m stopping this medicine because it’s not helping at all."

For Bacterial Infection "Had been having severe pains on both sides of my neck and went in to see my primary physician. He felt my neck glands and they were swollen and the pain was severe. Also ran a low-grade temp. Prescribed amoxicillin 500 mg twice a day for 10 days. The pain has subsided and so has the fever. No side effects, except a little fuzzy-headed and lethargic. Have two more days to complete the therapy, even though I feel so much better. Would tell anyone with a fever and infection to go along with amoxicillin."

For Dental Abscess "I just started taking this medication 4 days ago to prevent infection from wisdom tooth extraction surgery. It has been making me extremely tired, and I never had this problem. Today, I slept for a total of 17 hours, and the first day a total of 14 hours. I have never felt so tired in my life. I have no energy and have had a migraine all day."

For Dental Abscess "I have never been allergic to amoxicillin (500 mg), but I received it last week after a dentist visit to take 3 times daily for 7 days. I originally thought nothing of the symptoms until yesterday when it hurt really badly to urinate. But last night it seemed to go away, but today the pain is back. I looked up the symptoms today, and yes, I had diarrhea and itching last week (didn't know why) until now. Also tired, itchy, and still hurting when I urinate. I stopped taking the medicine because the pain is so bad. I will talk to my dentist when I go back this week, but I have never had issues with amoxicillin. Something must have changed."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I am 3 days into taking penicillin for my tonsillitis, the sore throat was gone after a day or so. But now I feel very tired and caught a cold. I feel like my immune system is weaker due to the good bacteria also getting attacked. Thanks to your comments, now I can take probiotic supplements with it-just at a separate time from the antibiotics."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "Was given the amoxicillin 875 mg to take twice daily. It’s my second day, and my throat isn’t feeling any better. No diarrhea, just super exhausted. I hope to see results within the next day or so. Would hate to go back to the ER."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "This medicine was completely okay - I was very scared to use it at first. I've gotten 1 g twice a day for the 1st week along with Nexium 40 mg twice a day, and after about 4 days, I already felt better. No side effects at all, except from being a bit tired. Don't be scared. It'll be okay."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I suffered with tonsillitis for 5 days because I was too scared to take this medicine! I regret so badly not taking it sooner. I always have super bad side effects with antibiotics, so I was scared, but thankfully I drank a lot of water and ate yogurt with probiotics, and I am good. I have noticed it does make me tired, and I do feel like the infection is coming out! My body feels a little clammy, almost like when a fever breaks! I took my first dose at 1 PM today and my second at 1 AM, and I am already feeling better! When I tell you this is the worst pain I’ve been in, I’m serious! I had lots of pus pockets in my throat, fever, headache, head pain, ears hurt, lymph nodes swollen, this medicine saved me."

For Dental Abscess "I’ve had bad teeth all my life. I’m terrified of dentists but found a good one that I trust. I had a tooth break where I had a bad cavity... it’s at the nerve, yet I don’t feel anything. When taking X-rays, the dentist noticed an abscess on another tooth. No pain. I have a compromised immune system and need a few teeth pulled. The dentist put me on amoxicillin 500 mg 3 times a day for 7 days. Day 1, after 2 doses, I felt very tired and no energy. I had run low-grade fevers for a few weeks, and after 5 doses, I still have a slight fever. Hopefully, things start to improve. When they do, I’ll change the review."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed amoxicillin in preparation for my first root canal. The tooth was sensitive, but did not hurt. They made me exhausted, alternately chilled and sweating. Lost my appetite. Can't sleep. Skin is sensitive to the touch. I'm seeing halos around bright lights. Urinating gives 1/4 to 1/2 cup every hour or so, and I couldn't stop the dribble. I might buy some Depends to save my pants."

For Dental Abscess "Got a prescription of amoxicillin 250 mg x 4 days for dental abscess, took for a week. My abscess got worse, more swollen in gum area, experienced sickness, diarrhea for 4 days, tiredness, and headache. I wouldn't recommend for tooth infection as I had to have a second lot of antibiotics - metronidazole for a week. Hopefully this goes."

For Middle Ear Infections "Amoxicillin is the drug of choice by my doctor/dentist for tooth infection to bronchitis. It always works for me with no problems or side effects. Except for the last two times I was on this med, I noticed I've been having headaches, and I feel really tired and feel like I have the flu. My throat is sore and itchy, and I want to keep coughing, and my back feels cold inside. I know now for sure it's the amoxicillin and will inform my doctor. My ear pain is disappearing, so it's fighting off my ear infection, and my hearing is back to normal. But I will definitely finish this round even with the side effects I'm feeling because not being able to hear properly had freaked me out and is a scarier prospect."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I usually don't write reviews, but I have to share that this helps SIBO as well! I have recurring SIBO, did rifaximin sometimes with neomycin a few times. Did Flagyl (no change). SIBO always comes back. Found out I have H. pylori. Doing triple therapy but changed Flagyl to amoxicillin because Flagyl makes me tired. SIBO got 100 times better as well. Flagyl made my SIBO worse! No effect. I'm currently trying to treat both SIBO and H. pylori. Read that bismuth is recommended, might add that too."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have had frequent UTIs since I was a kid, and I still get them every couple of months. Amoxicillin has always worked for me. My doctor tried to change it up this time around and give me Bactrim. It was awful. It did nothing for my UTI, and just made me feel super dizzy and tired all day. So I went back, and she gave me Macrobid. I told her that amoxicillin has always worked for me, but she insisted I try the Macrobid. Still in constant pain, the frequency, all of it is still there. Amoxicillin is THE ONLY one that works for me. I am going back tomorrow and insisting on the amoxicillin. I KNOW MY BODY."
