For Bacterial Infection "I'm taking it for my gum infection, 500 mg caps 3x a day. The first two days on the medication, the side effects were pretty bad: extremely dizzy, sleep disturbance, headache, super strong appetite, dysphoria, severe indigestion, and extreme nausea. I'm now on day 3 of 7, and my mouth pain caused by an infection in my gums is gone. I'm still experiencing side effects, but they are at a level 3 or 4 instead of a 9 on the first day. I am so grateful to have found this new dentist. Another dentist gave me a different antibiotic a few months ago for the same issue, and it didn't work at all. I really hope this one fully gets rid of the infection. I can't believe how fast it worked!"

For Dental Abscess "We are in the middle of COVID-19 quarantine. All dentists are closed, and I ended up having my root-canalled first molar infected. I developed a periapical abscess just a few mm above my tooth on the gum. It started collecting pus on it. The dentist put me on amoxicillin antibiotics for 5 days, but I still felt tingling/throbbing in the tooth, so she said to take one more 5-day dose, which is two pills a day. I used the ones that dissolve in the water. Now I am here 2 days after I finished my antibiotics. The dentist said to keep in touch 3-4 days later if my face would swell up. I hope not, but I feel a weird feeling from my tooth to my ear. Hopefully, the infection has cleared. The abscess hasn't filled for at least 24 hours, so keeping my fingers crossed, but I am really worried =("

For Bacterial Infection "Have IBS, recently got worse, so was given this antibiotic in case I had an infection. Felt fine day 1, day 2 began to feel nauseous, abdominal pains, acid reflux, extremely tired, loss of appetite, headache, and feeling very ill in general. I was taking 3x 500g every day but only managed to get to day 2 till I stopped. Wouldn’t recommend this antibiotic if you already have stomach problems!!"

For Dental Abscess "Took this for a tooth abscess. Toothache went away but was replaced by other pains. Feels like every muscle in my body is sore, especially the legs and lower back. Throwing up and also have diarrhea. Massive headache. The body ache is so bad I laid in bed crying, and I have a pretty high threshold for pain usually. I cannot seem to get out of bed and cannot find a comfortable position for my legs and back. Also just started having a fever of 99.4 degrees. I took this about 7 to 8 hours ago, not sure if I'd rather have the toothache or these side effects, that's how bad this is. I've taken amoxicillin in the past and did not have any of these problems, not sure what changed (or maybe this is my body's reaction to the abscess?)."

For Bacterial Infection "I had an abscess on my gum, the pain was bad. I took this, and within hours needed no painkillers - gave me a slight headache but nothing bad, just a slight cloudy feeling. But it's still a lot better than someone hitting you with a baseball bat. That's how my face felt without this antibiotic. Top stuff."

For Sinusitis "Had to take this 3 times a day for 21 days. Only used it for 3 days. Had side effects. Stomach upset, intestinal upset, headache, and felt anxious. I've used it before years ago with no problems, but this time it's a no go. I guess our systems change as the years go on."

For Dental Abscess "I got my wisdom teeth pulled two months ago and got put on antibiotics, had no problem with it at all. Now, two months later, I'm on amoxicillin because I need a root canal treatment, and I keep feeling a lump in my throat and pains in the front of my neck down to my collarbone. Sometimes my ears will hurt, or my eyes will hurt, or I'll feel like I have a headache. I've never been allergic to medications before, but I've been taking this for two days now and feel awful. I go in for my RCT tomorrow and will have to ask my endodontist about this, but I'm almost sure that it's the amoxicillin causing this. I just wish I wasn't in pain anymore."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I suffered with tonsillitis for 5 days because I was too scared to take this medicine! I regret so badly not taking it sooner. I always have super bad side effects with antibiotics, so I was scared, but thankfully I drank a lot of water and ate yogurt with probiotics, and I am good. I have noticed it does make me tired, and I do feel like the infection is coming out! My body feels a little clammy, almost like when a fever breaks! I took my first dose at 1 PM today and my second at 1 AM, and I am already feeling better! When I tell you this is the worst pain I’ve been in, I’m serious! I had lots of pus pockets in my throat, fever, headache, head pain, ears hurt, lymph nodes swollen, this medicine saved me."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I suffered with tonsillitis for 5 days because I was too scared to take this medicine! I regret so badly not taking it sooner. For Dental Abscess "I have 4 impacted teeth in my jaw, and I've been experiencing pain. Along with a painkiller, a doctor prescribed me amoxicillin as a precaution until I speak to the oral surgeon. I feel like the jaw pain may have eased, but I've also got new problems like headache, intestinal and stomach pain, bloating, shakiness, and anxiety I can only contribute to the side effects of amoxicillin."

For Bacterial Infection "Yesterday, I was found to have an infection in my gums below a lower wisdom tooth. The dentist prescribed 4 capsules of 500 mg amoxicillin for 7 days. I am on day 2 and hopeful. Before the diagnosis, I experienced tooth pain, which seemed to spread into my upper jaw. I used ibuprofen and acetaminophen to decrease the pain, and sometimes the pain would go away. I still use ibuprofen and acetaminophen while using the amoxicillin. Now my neck hurts when I talk, so I don't talk unless I have to. Talking increases a headache, mostly on the side with the infection, but which extends down into my neck and up to the top of the right side of my head. I started eating Greek yogurt today and garlic bread. The garlic bread seemed to help relieve a bit of tooth discomfort. If I don't feel better by mid-day tomorrow, I'll call the dentist."

For Bacterial Infection "I had 4 pre-molars removed to make space for when I got a brace fitted. Thought the procedure would be quite straightforward... anything but! One tooth snapped on the way out, so needed surgery. The other 3 all got infected within 2 days of being pulled. (I had 'monster roots' apparently, which contributed). I got prescribed amoxicillin and metronidazole to help for this dental work. It’s day 6 of taking the antibiotics now, and I’m still unsure if they’ve worked. Although many side effects! Fever, vomiting, itchy skin, headaches, drowsiness, awful metallic taste, low moods. I’ve now lost 14 lbs in weight and I still have the infection. Awful drug!"

For Bacterial Infection "Got a bacterial infection on my right tonsil and was prescribed to take amoxicillin 500 mg, 10 tablets, 3 a day. Need to be taken until finished. In total, I had to spend from Friday to Monday to finish the medication. I got no symptoms except fatigue on Friday. On Saturday, I got nausea, stomach ache, fatigue, sore muscles, heart palpitations, anxiety attack, and trouble sleeping. On Sunday, I got all of the symptoms mentioned plus a severe headache. On Monday, the headache was gone, but the rest of the symptoms stayed, but the infection is cured. It's been two days after finishing the medication, and the remaining symptoms are still hanging around. Cool med but has hellish side effects."

For Dental Abscess "Got a prescription of amoxicillin 250 mg x 4 days for dental abscess, took for a week. My abscess got worse, more swollen in gum area, experienced sickness, diarrhea for 4 days, tiredness, and headache. I wouldn't recommend for tooth infection as I had to have a second lot of antibiotics - metronidazole for a week. Hopefully this goes."

For Dental Abscess "Started taking on Wednesday for mild tooth infection with no symptoms. By Thursday, I had a severe headache, extreme fatigue, and fever. Mood was affected, I’ve been very moody, almost a pent-up angry feeling. Fever and headache continued until Monday when I just decided to quit the antibiotic (5 days with fever). For Middle Ear Infections "Amoxicillin is the drug of choice by my doctor/dentist for tooth infection to bronchitis. It always works for me with no problems or side effects. Except for the last two times I was on this med, I noticed I've been having headaches, and I feel really tired and feel like I have the flu. My throat is sore and itchy, and I want to keep coughing, and my back feels cold inside. I know now for sure it's the amoxicillin and will inform my doctor. My ear pain is disappearing, so it's fighting off my ear infection, and my hearing is back to normal. But I will definitely finish this round even with the side effects I'm feeling because not being able to hear properly had freaked me out and is a scarier prospect."

The doctor finally gave me Neurobion and Repicort, which also has a timely effect, then the head becomes heavy again and again. I don't know what to do."

Amoxicillin for Bladder Infection "I had a very complicated and terrible UTI, which was hard to get rid of. Tried Apo-Amoxicillin in hope for it to clear all the bacteria and end these constant symptoms. However, this drug did absolutely nothing in helping my UTI, I noticed no improvement at all. I took Apo-Amoxi for 6 days, 250 mg 3× per day. I got no major side effects except for a mild headache. Now, I have been switched to Keflex, which is way better."

For Bacterial Infection "Today is day 7 of my 10-day round of Amoxicillin for an infected toenail. Yes, it clears up the infection. But, not without intense lingering headaches all day long, starting when I first wake up. Tylenol has very little effect on the pain. Laying in a quiet dark room helps a little bit for about an hour, then it's back to throbbing, ringing ears, and nausea. It feels like an intense migraine and tension headache combined. I am prone to yeast infections with Amoxicillin, so I took two rounds of Diflucan as well. That wasn't the issue this time."

For Bronchitis "I'm 36 years old and have never had an issue with taking any meds other than Lortabs. Despite all of the reviews here, I was sure that I would be okay. The first night taking it, I noticed a lingering headache. I figured I can deal with a small headache if this is going to clear me up. Well, night two, the diarrhea started. The only reason why this was such a problem was that I was on my menstrual cycle as well. However, the diarrhea was not that bad, so I decided to take it again. Day three, my period stopped. I normally have a 6-day cycle, but it was completely gone. I also had severe stomach pain and diarrhea like water. I was in worse pain taking this med. I do not recommend this drug to anyone!!"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "My dentist gave me 875 mg twice a day for 7 days after gum flap surgery so I don’t get an infection. I used the same medication 6 months ago for the same thing when the first half of my mouth was done, but I don’t remember any of these side effects. Today I slept 11 hours, got up, ate, and went back to sleep for another 3 hours. I did have stomach pains the first day, but just ate something small with the pills. I usually eat a banana, it helps a lot. I have noticed while taking this pill I have been starving! And I’m getting bad headaches. I’m only on day 3 now, so I hope things get better, but I’m happy as long as I don’t get an infection."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I'm now on my third day of amoxicillin. If anything, this drug has made it harder to sleep, gives me sweats and headaches, as well as makes my tonsillitis worse. I do not recommend."
