I've been taking Xarelto for 6 months. Anyone have acute muscle and joint pain on this drug?

It took 5 months after stopping Xarelto that the severe leg pain went away. I was only on it 22 days. So thankful for this site where I found other peoples same experience. I just take 4 baby aspirin and a Pepcid every day and have had no more blood clots. Going on 2 years now. Good luck to you!

I have been on Xarelto for 18 months now , it was prescribed before that but I had to go off due to knee replacement surgery . Recently I have been getting severe cramps in my rib cage and my neck , so intense I thought at first I was having a heart attack . I also have been having a great deal of pain in my right thigh which I thought was caused by sitting on a step stool 3 weeks ago till I started having pain in the back of my thigh . After seeing other peoples reactions to xarelto I will see my Dr. to find out if this is from the xarelto and what can be done about it. I am also wondering if this is causing me to have chronic migraines now .

I’ve been taking it for almost 9 months and have told both heart doctors about my joint and muscle pain. Both told me I was nuts and that neither are side effects of the drug. I’m here to tell them and have told them they are full of crap. The joints that I have injured in the past hurts the worse. Basically it feels like a truck hit me and then backed up and ran over me again.

Just saw my Adoctor and I’m stopping the Xarelto after 5 years because of DVT and PE. I’m 62 and don’t have any clotting factors and because my side affects are so bad I’m stopping it. I don’t take any other meds and I was fine before taking this med. I’ve had terrible pain all over, almost can’t walk. Can’t sleep well, pain terrible when sleeping or lying down!! Ribs, hips, legs, ankles, feet, shoulders, neck, arms, hands, fingers have been killing me.
Legs, hands, fingers and feet would get numb and go to sleep at night. Hair falling out like crazy.
Two doctors agree I should be fine. It’s been five days since I stopped and I’m already feeling better! This stuff is pure poison!!

I first was taking Eliquis 5mg twice a day and started noticing joint pain in my shoulders and neck area. Doctor changed my medicine to Xarelto 20mg once a day and still joint pain persists. I don’t know what to do. Very frustrated. Any help out there as to what to do? I had a second bout of Afib in June of 2020 doctors think I need to take Xarelto to keep from having a stroke. Any information would be helpful. It seems as though Xarelto is attacking the areas I have had a surgery or injury before.

I was on xarelto for 4months and had to discontinue due to skin adhesions developing. It’s been two months since I stopped it and the acute joint pain is not going away. I fail to lift my arms sometimes and paralysis is my greatest fear

My joint pain from my neck down to my feet has not stopped. I have limited ability to get get around and do much I can’t do. I’ve been off of it since April 2018 and it has never gone away for me. All my issues started within a week and a half after I started taking it. Every joint started flaring one at a time. B

14 months on Xarelto, I could not lift my legs, couldn't sleep because of the pain.
I switched medication to Warfarin, within 2 weeks I could walk, hike, and ride my bike
I was always active, Xarelto put me down.

Have been on Xarelto for 6 months. Side affects are weakness and pain in knees and legs. Would like to try Eliquis, but reading reviews it also has side affects.

I have been on Xarelto for over 5 years and coumadin for a few years prior. Once I stared Xarelto, I did experience muscle pain in my lower back. I consulted my "clot doc", who is also on blood thinner, and he encouraged me to continue saying he expected my body to adjust and it would go away.

That is exactly what happened. I do not recall exactly how long it took, but not extremely long. I have had no further muscle pain and no other pains from taking Xarelto.

Hope this helps, and very best wishes!

I have been on Xarelto for 2 weeks after switching from Coumadin and have terrible pain in my ankle. After reading posts figured out I was not crazy. It is hard to walk on but found relief with a CBD transdermal pen. It relieves the pain but comes back after about 4 hours and I reapply. I had PE in both lungs and they never could find a cause - no clots anywhere else that caused it. Never seen anyone live with such massive clots. I am 62 and very active and never been to Dr. Thinking of going off and stick with aspirin. All blood tests they did were no good because of the Coumadin they put me on.

yes. i can unequivocally state in my instance that xarelto had this effect and it became almost debillitating. My legs felt so stiff/rigid/seized and weak, walking was a hardship. The health care irony is that drug symptom it isn't widely known as the others of bleeding and fatigue or that no one includes these instances/complaints into the drug database. in my case, i spent well over 8 months between rheumatologists, orthos, neurologists, physiatrists, etc... to check off the boxes that this muscle and joint pain/stiffness/weakness wasn't anything new and more serious. 4 days of not taking xarelto and i was myself again. I took that to my hematologist to discuss a long term plan. They don't like it when you cannot stay on them because it is an easy solution to an obvious risk, but if this materially affects your quality of life, you should amplify this. It requires more monitoring and some out of the box thinking but is doable.

I have been taking it for 6 months and just started getting bad pain in arms and legs and hips. When I stand I have to hold onto something to walk for at least a couple of minutes. I cannot pickup a gallon of water any longer with one hand, it hurts . I have to use 2 hands and i still have pain. It has increasingly gotten worse . From what I am reading here I do not understand why it is lower down on the list , it should be up higher

Yes, constant knee and elbow pain. Not to mention the headaches that are like migraines.

I have been on Xarelto for 3 months after bilateral embolism. Pain was severe but tried different things and gave up gluten, alcohol and highly processed foods with preservatives. Totally ok but even the smallest amount of any of these things sends me into crippling and debilitating pain. After a recent engagement party I had a piece of french bread and 1/2 glass of champagne was bed ridden for 2 days. Excruciating. Try a gluten free preservative free diet and see what happens. Before Xarelto I ate bread daily, some processed foods and social drinking. Never had any problems. 49yo F.
