For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have been constipated my whole life. Several months ago, I started experiencing bowel blockages that ended up causing projectile vomiting, heartburn, and nausea. For years, colonics was on my list of things to do. At my last appointment, my bowels were so blocked, I drank a bottle of magnesium citrate! Wow! Wow! Wow! If your system needs cleaning out, this is exactly what does. As far as the Trulance, for the 2 days I've taken it, my belly looks 8 months pregnant from horrible bloating, gas, and ridiculous diarrhea! For safety purposes, on the 1st night, I wore an overnight adult diaper, only to wake up in a huge feces mess in my bed!!! I feel horrible! Made a call to my gastro's office today."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have always been constipated (lucky if I go once a week) for as long as I remember for different reasons. I finally addressed it with my doctor. I was referred to a gastroenterologist who prescribed Trulance. They gave me some samples while my insurance approved the prescription. I did have a bout with diarrhea after a couple of weeks, but it quickly subsided. After a month of being on the medicine, I'm actually going 2x a day. I'm still not sure how I feel about spending more time in the bathroom, but I'm not bloated anymore. I do experience more gas, but better than feeling like you are about to give birth."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Was on both Lactulose & Relistor for over 2 years. Just started Trulance, and what an amazing drug. Within an hour, had a decent bowel movement without abdominal cramps, bloating, & flatulence. 5 stars out of 5."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have struggled with chronic constipation my entire life. I am a 29-year-old female, and my gastro doctor prescribed me Trulance over 2 weeks ago. For the last 11 years, I have tried everything, including Amitiza, Linzess, bag enemas, Miralax, Dulcolax, etc. None worked. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis, celiac disease, and chronic constipation. My entire colon is slow transit. I was really optimistic when I saw other reviews saying within 2 hours they were having diarrhea. I was surprised some people gave up taking this drug due to the diarrhea. I have a 4-year-old son, I don't have time to feel awful anymore. I am so disappointed. Over 2 weeks on Trulance and nothing. Just bloating and gas. I plan on seeing my doctor and asking about removing some of my colon. I am desperate to stop feeling toxic. I am glad this medication works for some people. I would recommend at least giving it a try, you could have better results than what I did. Good luck!"

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "I began Trulance about a year and a half ago, soon after it was released onto the market. For years, I had taken a probiotic, and my pain was worse. I did a Miralax regimen for several months, with no luck. My doctor then put me on Linzess, which was the most miserable I’ve ever been in my life. I was prescribed Trulance and have had very few problems since. If I maintain a diet and eating schedule, I have a regular BM every morning. I rarely have pain, if I do, it is caused by gas or not taking my pill on time. Trulance has drastically improved my confidence as I reclaimed my health."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Took it for a week. I've been so bloated with horrible gas pain the whole time. Diarrhea all day, and then when the diarrhea is done, I strain to pass the same small pellet stool I have when I don't take anything. Tried splitting the pill in half and get the same results. Drinking 3 liters of fluids a day and still feel dehydrated. The only good thing I can say about this medication is that it was a free sample at my doctor's office."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Started 2 weeks ago. Take it every night. No significant AEs except increased gas after taking. The gas actually helps reduce bloating, though, so I don't mind. Have not noticed improvement in BMs yet and feel very backed up. Wondering if I need to clean out with mag citrate before starting this drug, as I can tell I am still full of stool that isn't coming out. Will have the urge for BM and then only pass a very small amount. I will give it another few weeks and update my review if things improve. So far, not thrilled, as I was hoping this would help me :/"

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I tried one tablet around 2 pm, and within the hour, I was on the toilet with a runny evacuation, then bloating, then more diarrhea, more gas, even more runny evacuation. This lasted until maybe 8:30 pm. That night, I experienced pains running through my body, my arms and legs hurt so badly. It’s hard to describe, not sure what that was. I think it was from the Trulance medicine, so I’m scared to take another one. I had a loose evacuation the next evening, and this was without taking another tablet on day two. I’m considering taking the tablet every other day but not sure. Someone mentioned weight, which is a huge neon green, orange, and red flag for me to stop. I want to lose weight, not gain it. Plus, I’d think cleaning out would reduce one's weight. Anywho, my verdict is on the fence for now, I don’t know. I am elated to have a BM, given I can maybe go once a week."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Donna C mentioned sinus problems. My sinus issues (post-nasal drip in particular) were a result of reflux and hiatal hernia. When the bad PND got worse, Nexium greatly improved things! I figured out myself-tons of online research. My gastro said he'd heard that can be the case. Unfortunately, it doesn't fix the greater problem but thought it might be useful. I have severe constipation thought to be the result of scar tissue in the abdomen-1X had a complete obstruction that resulted in resection. Have tried every possible med. Experience with Trulance was initially positive-lasted about 3 days. More gas than usual, but it moved my bowels more completely and more normally looking. Since then, it has been almost explosive diarrhea, though not as terrible as with Linzess. Giving this a bit more time but, like others, really just so tired of how this controls and limits my life. Still on trial packs, but RX is approved and waiting for me to pick up."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Started it 8 days ago. 4 days, nothing. Had to use magnesium citrate pills, 3 in the morning and 3 at night with the Trulance. My doctor wants me off magnesium citrate and just rely on Trulance (new doctor doesn't know how my body shuts down yet). Gives me bloating and gas, where magnesium citrate didn't. Just pleasing the doctor till more tests are run."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "IBS-C and Linzess did not work for me. Been using Trulance for almost 4 months now, and overall it has really helped me. It works best for me either right before or right after a meal, about an hour after taking it, my stomach starts to rumble and grumble, and within a few hours it does give you diarrhea (some days worse than others), and with me, it’s usually more than 1 trip to the bathroom. I will say it’s not super consistent for me, some days I go, and other days I get the rumbling without going, but I’ll take that over not being able to go for weeks at a time. Sometimes I get cramps and lots of gas and dizziness, but usually only when I ate bad food or haven’t eaten at all."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "First time taking this for my irritable bowel syndrome and constipation was yesterday after breakfast, and exactly 1 hour after taking the pill, my stomach was rumbling, and I had diarrhea. I pooped about 8 times yesterday with the constant “gotta poop” feeling all day. I was liquid pooping after the 2nd trip, even at bedtime, I felt the “gotta poop” feeling, but only pooped once during the night. I did have bloating and gas, but I was afraid to fart because it felt like I’d poop on myself. I took Linzess for 1 month and gained 15 pounds! So I stopped taking it immediately, plus, it never made me poop ever. Today is day 2 on Trulance, I took my pill 10 mins ago and already feeling things moving in my tummy. No side effects for me except the poops all day. I definitely wouldn’t take this before I had to work that day."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have been taking Trulance for 2 weeks, the jury is still out! I do feel better, no bloating or GI problems, and the gas is getting better, but the diarrhea is explosive. Trulance claims you don't have to plan your day around taking it, well, that's a total lie! Because a few hours after I take it, my stomach starts to bubble so bad it's like someone blowing into my stomach through a straw. Then the diarrhea starts, and I go a couple of times, so I have to plan what time of day I can take it, so it's day by day. But I do feel better, I feel emptied out. I don't look as bloated as before, today is the first day I have had solid stool since starting it, so we will see. It does say that you can have diarrhea for the first 4 weeks. I go back to my GI doctor in a couple of weeks, so I will see what he says then, but I will keep taking it till then."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "Started this last year, and the first 2 weeks were rough. I'd get gurgling sensations in my stomach each time I took it, along with bloating, gas, and diarrhea for a couple of hours. BUT, my GI warned me that it could happen, and to give my body time to adjust. After 2 weeks, the gurgling stopped. Diarrhea turned into 1-2 times a day, and since then, I am having regular bowel movements. No side effects. The only exception is when I eat certain types of food (normally greasy or high in fat). I notice that I have 1 or 2 loose bowel movements the following day. Having IBS with constipation, this was the only medicine that was able to keep me regular. I used to go 5-6 days without going. I was in pain, backed up, bloated, and had no life because I always felt terrible. Not anymore. I know some people can't handle the diarrhea, but I promise you, it is normal at first, but you have to give it a chance, beyond just a couple of days."
