For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I was on Linzess, using it only from time to time as it caused severe bloating and diarrhea. I was skipping doses and was constipated then. It always required a decision: should I take a pill today or not? For the last 2 months, I have been using Trulance, and it is perfect. I take it in the morning and forget about it. It just works! Smooth and nice. I already forgot what diarrhea is! I feel like my life has changed."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I love Trulance! I’m surprised people are saying it made them gain weight, as it is not a listed side effect, and I actually managed to lose 2 lbs while taking it. I’ve suffered from severe bloating and moderate constipation for almost two years. I was sick of the constant cycle of laxative on Friday night - flat stomach Saturday - constipation building Sunday through Friday - repeat. I was tired of planning my life around my laxative and my bloat. There were and are many times when I take a laxative and it would do nothing but make me bloat up to two sizes bigger than I am. Trulance has been gentle. No cramping, only mild bloat, and no water retention. My only negative comments revolve around the day-long diarrhea and the stomach distension that comes from going off it cold turkey. (I ran out and am waiting for my prescription)"

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I'm having a hard time with this Trulance because it's giving me stomach cramps, making my stool a little hard, also making my rectum very sore. So I'm getting very frustrated because nothing seems to work to help have a bowel movement. I only have a bowel movement about 5 times a month, and my weight is going up. I hardly can eat anything because no bowel movement. This medication is a sample for me to try out."

"I had occasional constipation. I took one pill, and within two hours, had an uncontrollable feces storm that necessitated a four-hour cleanup and now will require a portion of my bathroom to be repainted. Cramps have since ensured. Trulance is a particularly harsh medicine."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have been on a high dose of Linzess and finally, with probiotics, got on a regular schedule. Due to insurance issues, I was switched to Trulance. Trulance, so far, has caused constipation, extreme lethargy, headaches, and a weird depression. I would rather go back to Linzess and have liquid stools than have no stools at all. I have had to drink tons of Miralax to get any relief. I don't think the Trulance does anything whatsoever but have bad side effects."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "Tried Trulance for 3 weeks. Have a history of IBS-C. Have taken Miralax for 3 years each night. It worked, but lots of bloating and discomfort. The first week on Trulance was okay, but hard stools. Progressed to very hard stools, terrible bleeding, internal and external hemorrhoids. Tried adding Citrucel upon doctor suggestion. Made everything worse. Stopped taking it, using stool softeners, but will probably go back to Miralax. Maybe I’m different as I have celiac, but I do not recommend. I’m now backed up with terrible pain."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Week 1 great, week 2 very constipated. Went back to Dr. and took magnesium citrate to clean out. Week 3 had to clean out again after 3 days. Week 4 today backed up again. Took 2 pills, feel better. Ahh. See how long this lasts."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "I have been on Linzess long term and thought it wasn’t working as well for my IBS-C, so I tried Trulance. Worse than nothing, and I’m eating 30 grams of fiber, exercising, and drinking water with it. Reminds me of my body BEFORE I started on Linzess. It’s as if I’m taking nothing to aid me, so I’m switching back to Linzess. Trulance was awful. If I wanted to be this constipated, I’d take no drugs. I am using samples for 2 weeks from my doctor."

"I had been prescribed this by my MD. I have Crohn's for the past 6 years after first being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (UC) in '03. Had colon removed due to UC for 'cure' in '05. I go between constipation and diarrhea normally since the operation, but diarrhea mostly because I have no colon. Been having problems with constipation, bloating, and feeling toxic on and off for the past several months. The first day I tried this, I was having such severe abdominal cramping. I went one time when there was moderate diarrhea (again, normal because I can't form solid stool due to no colon). After that, I was on and off the toilet multiple times with little coming out, but enough to excoriate my butt. Couldn't even keep up with the cream I was using. The awful cramping continued."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "The first 3 days were fine. Then I started to poop when I ate. Small, firm poop. Then the next day, diarrhea. Day seven, I was having severe diarrhea, and twice couldn’t make it to the bathroom. Skipped a day, took it, more diarrhea. Skipped several days… with no bowel movement. Then I took it, and I was horribly constipated. It did not work until seven hours later, and by then I had already taken some MiraLAX. This is not the answer for me."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I've been suffering with chronic constipation since I was born. The last 2 years have been very rough. I was diagnosed with IBS-C. I deal with chronic nausea day and night, constant bloating like I'm 9 months pregnant, and severe constipation. I literally will not have a bowel motion (BM) unless I take a laxative, and I'll only have a small BM, leaving me with no relief or very minimal relief. I tried everything on the shelves, I was taking 4 capfuls of Miralax a day. One doctor had me drink an entire bottle. I've taken Linzess, Amitzia, everything. A doctor tried me on Trulance. The first 2 weeks were great, I thought I found my miracle drug. I was having full, complete bowel movements. My bloating went all the way down to the point I lost weight. I was 180 lbs with bloating, after the relief from Trulance, I'm 173 lbs. When I ate, I didn't feel overstuffed or the feeling of food just sitting in my stomach... Trulance has stopped working, and I'm once again backing up."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I spent years constipated and was told by doctors I have a slow-moving digestive system and 1. people can take Miralax for their whole life and 2. I need to eat more fruit. I was having maybe 2-3 bowel movements a month. Constant hemorrhoids, severe depression from feeling so backed up, and vaginal tearing from struggling so bad before I was finally prescribed Trulance. I did cry when they told me it was $280 for a 30-day prescription with my insurance, but boy, am I relieved. I'd rather everything come out than nothing at all. I'll just have to plan out the medication accordingly financially, but I don't think I cannot not have this!"

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "This really is an amazing medication. I have been in remission with my ulcerative colitis, but man, the constipation has been terrible. The doctor gave me samples, and it was the first time I had a full bowel elimination in a long time. Then, of course, my insurance company intervened and made me try Linzess first, which took days and never completed a movement. I've been suffering for a month, but now I'm back on some samples and crossing my fingers for insurance approval finally!! It literally works in less than an hour."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have had IBS for the last 15 years or more. I couldn't eat anything without being sick. Then, after taking chlorestamine for 7 years, I felt so much better. Got diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and suddenly I have constipation. I'd go a week without going. Not sure which is worse. Tried Movantik and all over the counter. I take this every 3 days. It cleans me out. Take this early because, to me, you will have water coming out at the end. Bet I've gone 15 times so far today. Stomach feels bloated."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "The first 3 days, I experienced diarrhea within 2 hours of taking Trulance 3 mg tablet. I continued taking it, and I am now 15 days in and have to take an enema for constipation. Seems that Trulance is no longer effective in my system. I am very disappointed!"

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I initially started on Linzess, but after 12 days on the med, it did not work. My doctor gave me samples of Trulance. The first dose, I had a BM within 3 hours. Just that one day. After that, nothing. 4 days later, so constipated, had to use OTC docusate suppository to get some relief. Increased water, fiber, and exercise, and medication not working at all."
