Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I gave it a 7 out of 10 because 1)I didn't experience any side effects.. so that is great and 2)I haven't gotten my period YET. I took Provera for 5 days and this is my 2nd day off of it. I feel something going on in there, so I have a feeling Aunt Flo will be visiting soon.. then I get to take my Clomid."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I am now taking Provera for the 3rd time . It works but I have had some extra hair growth on my stomach but I am willing to deal with that because I have been trying to conceive for 8 years. After I get my period under control I will start taking Clomid. My husband and I are praying this time it will work."

"I was prescribed 10 mg dose of medroxyprogesterone for 10 days to start my cycle as we try to conceive. The 10 days were kind of weird - lots of mood swings, cramps and headaches. By day 4, it seemed to normal out but then it did seem to make me feel lousy days 6-8ish again. I think by the end I had just gotten used to it. I woke up with my period on day 3 of not taking it. I will say, this is one of the worst periods I have ever had (remaining positive as I’m hopeful we will conceive this cycle!). Cramps are really bad, and the flow is the heaviest it has been in years. Just a heads up!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I’m 53 years old and haven’t had a period in 10 months. However my doctor put me on Provera to make sure my uterine lining is completely shed. Do you think Provera is needed if I haven’t had a period in 10 months?"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I've taken this medicine in the past and it worked well. I am now taking it a second time but it is causing panic attacks I am not sure what is different this time. But as long as I have a period I will be happy."

"This was the worst medication I’ve taken in my entire life. I took the oral (10 day supply) in June 2018, and honestly since then I’ve been feeling not like myself until end of 2018. My hormones were completely thrown out of shape and every day felt like a near death experience. Sure, I’ve dealt with clinical depression before, but that was 5 years ago. I consider myself really motivated, happy, and optimistic person until I took the medication. Every single day I felt like I had terrible PMS (CRAZY weight gain, hair loss/thinning of hair, bruising, brittle skin, erratic mood swings etc.) I went to 4 gynecologists and even 2 endocrinologists because I was convinced that something was wrong with me. All of them just did a ton of blood tests on me and were very unhelpful. I would NOT recommend this medication for ANYONE!!!!! I was very disappointed in my doctors and this experience. They NEED to get this medication off the market because it is absolutely messed me up."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I started provera in my journey to regulating a period for pregnancy. I started taking the pill, I did ten days of the medication and the third day after my last pill I got my period. It started off light and easy and I was very hopeful for finally kick starting my period that I didn't have for 5 months. About 5 days into this withdrawal blood into a full blown period it was AWFUL. It was painful and I was SOAKING all the way through extra thick pads and clotted so bad I was nervous seeing it. I couldn't complete normal tasks of daily living because I would stand up and it felt like my entire inside were falling out and I ended up using silhouette diapers to help from the bleed through. Granted I'm very thankful for the medication working like it should, but be ready for the period that comes, more times then none I was so nervous to stand nervous to sit nervous to try and stray away from a restroom or home due to the extreme blood I was losing. Has anyone else experienced this?"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I am 41 yrs old. This is my first time taking Provera. I had been bleeding very heavily for 2 months when my doctor prescribed this medication. I have been on it for one week thus far and just stopped bleeding. The doctor was right. The two side effects I have noticed is tiredness and very dry mouth. If these are the only side effects I experience, it's worth it."

It’s my 10th day taking Provera today. I’ve been having the worst anxiety attacks, 2 really bad dreams and back pain. I hope my menstruation starts already."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I was on birth control for 8 months when my husband and I decided to try and get pregnant. I stopped taking birth control mid March, I started taking prenatal vitamins mid march, and one and a half months later I still never got my period so I decided to go see my obgyn. She did blood work and everything came out normal so she decided to put me on provera once every day for 10 days. Three days after finishing provera I started my period and it lasted 7 days. After I finished my period on June 6th my husband and I were sexually active and my cycle should've started around June 30th but I still haven't started my period so first thing this morning I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. I dont know what's going on..."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I took the depo shot for a year and a half. I got off 5 years ago and still have had irregular periods which isn't normal for me. After seeing a obgyn she just told me to wait around and change my diet. Six months later I'm still not having regular cycles. So I changed my obgyn and I love her to pieces! She told me that she'll put me on the provera 5 day challenge I started yesterday upon taking the pill i already felt pms symptoms especially cramping. I'll update later as I'm going into my third day"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "Before I was on the Depo Provera shot,I had extremely painful periods..periods that were so painful, sometimes I would have to miss work. I would literally be doubled over in pain all across my lower abdomen, ibuprofen sometimes didn't help. This had been going on for several years, but last December I had enough, and decided to get the Depo Provera shot..I have been period free for several months now, and I feel so much better, I am one of the lucky few who hasn't really experienced any side effects. The Depo shot has been a miracle in my life, no more painful periods!"

"After three months with no period, my doctor chose to put me on one pill a day for 10 days. (All bloodwork and an ultrasound was normal.) During the use of this medication, I experienced mood swings, irritability, cystic acne, and vaginal discharge. Five days after finishing the medicine, I started my period. It was heavy. My doctor warned me of the side effects and heavy period. However, it gave me a period, which is what I hoped for and is important to prevent uterine cancers. I recommend this medicine. But be aware of side effects. Ride them out and hopefully you’ll get your period. I am 38, married, but have never been pregnant."

"I started this pill (10mg) once a day for ten days on January 17th. I got my period 4 days after taking the tenth dose. It's now day 8 of my period. First two days were light, days 3-6 were very heavy with huge clots, now days 7-8 are light. While taking the pill, I experienced abdominal cramping, tiredness, and breast tenderness. A week after taking the last pill, I notices I had extreme anxiety symptoms ( not sure if it's related to the medroxyprogesterone ). Overall rating of 8/10."

"I started taking Provera because I didn't get my period for 2 months and I was spotting off and on. My OBGYN prescribed me Provera for 14 days. Two days after finishing this prescription I started my period and it has been extremely heavy I'm now on day 7 and it's still heavy (changing pads every 2 hrs). I haven't ever in my life experienced this even after child birth. After reading other reviews on withdrawal bleeding I guess I will give it a few more days but honestly I was thinking about going to the ER. I am also experiencing mood swings I just wanted this to be over with. Has anyone else have extremely heavy bleeding?"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "As I'm testing through the comments I'm HORRIFIED at the amount of women that are saying they have been on DEPO for 20 years. GET OFF NOW. I've only recently learned that there is a boxed warning to only take this for no more than 2 years. The long term issues include bone loss, increased risk of cancer, moderate to severe loss of estrogen and vaginal atrophy. To name a few. I only found this out after finding out that at 34 I have post menopausal estrogen levels and vaginal atrophy caused by taking DEPO for 10 years. I'm beyond livid that not one of my doctors EVER informed me of these possibilities. Or the fact that it's not at all recommended to take for over 2 years. I was only taking it due to dysmenorrhea. And now I have a whole other horrific set of other issues to deal with."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I'm 35 and came off the pill 9 months ago after taking it for 16 years. Haven't had a period for at least a year, even when on the pill. I'm at the 3rd round of Provera, I took it 2 times for 10 days, and got no period after the 10 days. No negative side effects, just dry mouth. It's almost like I wasn't taking anything. One positive thing though: it seems to have cleared the skin rashes and fungus I started having a few months after coming off the pill. Didn't bring my periods back, but solved my skin issues!"

"After having irregular periods for more than a year and being told that I'm not in menopause ( I'm 52 ) I was prescribed this medicine. I took 10 mg once a day for 14 days. Started my period three days after taking last pill. First two days I barely bled, then it picked up. I'm cramping and passing blood clots like crazy. If this were a normal period today ( day five ) I would have stopped but that doesn't appear to be the case. I'm supposed take this medicine for two more months, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!! I am done!"

"It does what it's supposed to, at least for me it did. I'm prescribed to take 10 days of 100mg Provera every night before bed every 60 days (or every two months I don't have a cycle). It makes me feel awful though. The first month I was prescribed Provera I took all 10 pills. I'm on the smaller side and I really think 100mg is just too much for my body. I have horrific constipation & gas after about 2 days on it, absolutely zero energy, and my face tends to breakout (only 1-2 small, it's always clear otherwise), it also makes me starving 24/7. It works though."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I hadn’t had a period in over 2 years and have suspected PCOS. I have been trying to get pregnant with my fiancé. I was given 10mg for 10 days. While I was taking the tablets, I felt a little nauseous but nothing major. Afterward, I had really bad PMS. On day 4 after the last tablet, I started spotting. By day 7, I had heavy bleeding. Heavier than I have ever experienced in my life. It was brutal and messy. I’ve had a lot of accidents too. I’m now on day 9 of my period and it’s just starting to ease up and will hopefully finish in the next week. Overall, it’s really effective and it definitely works for me."

"I have always had amenorrhea (irregular periods) my whole life. Recently at 21, I discovered that I have PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome) by testing that was done. I am starting to take Metformin to help it. I have to have Provera prescribed every 3 months, for prevention of endometrial cancer. I have depression and PMDD, which is a severe form of PMS, so the only downside is that it makes me extremely depressed for when I do have my period. But it always makes me have my period by the third, fourth, or recently fifth day. It does what it is supposed to do though, and that is good."

Then light period for 5 days. Then the next month. No period. So started taking the pills again. Not till the LAST pill was there blood. It was light at first for 3 days, now I have been bleeding So heavy non stop! I’ve been bleeding 10 days straight! Is something wrong? Called my doctor and they were “busy” said call back. Never did I can’t stand that office"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I’ve been having irregular periods for about a year since I got off birth control, but this year I had a 7 week gap of no period and no signs of one. Went to OB and she said I had secondary amenorrhea, prescribed provera 10mg for 10 days for 3 months. I took it and instantly started bleeding about 30 minutes later. Worst cramps of my life and heaviest bleeding I’ve ever experienced. Only on day 3 so not sure if it will get better or worse but hoping for the best. It did induce a period for me almost immediately, which was necessary, however the side effects are really bad so far and I don’t know if it will help long term for me."
