"I'm 21 years old and recently found out I might have PCOS. I haven't gotten my period since 2010. On October 13th, 2015, I started taking medroxyprogesterone 10 mg for 10 days. It actually worked. My period came 4 days after finishing the pill. It started with very light cramping and very light bleeding. This is only my second day of being on my period. Looking forward to seeing the outcome, if the bleeding gets heavier or not. This pill does cause mood swings. One minute, I feel a certain way, the next minute, it changes. I'm pretty sure I'm driving my fiancé."

Medroxyprogesterone "I was given this pill to take because I stopped having a period for 6 months. Put me on this for 10 days, and the very first day of taking a pill, I spotted. Then light period for 5 days. Then the next month, no period. So started taking the pills again. Not till the LAST pill was there blood. It was light at first for 3 days, now I have been bleeding so heavy non-stop! I’ve been bleeding 10 days straight! Is something wrong? Called my doctor, and they were “busy,” said call back. Never did. I can’t stand that office."

"I am 21 years old. By the age of 20, I had a medically induced abortion, and after that, my periods went back to normal. Around February of 2018, I didn’t have a period, and I thought I was pregnant since my fiancé and I have been trying. Four months after that passed, I didn’t get a period, and I thought I might have been pregnant. In late June, I had spotting and light bleeding for a whole month and 13 days. I went to my gyno, and he prescribed me medroxyprogesterone for 10 days. I’m on day 2 of having a heavy flow, and I have a lot of blood clots, but all I’m thinking about is getting my periods back to normal so I can start trying to get pregnant again. Overall, I like this medication, I feel like it’s cleaning my reproductive system."

"I recently miscarried in December 2019. My period came back in January 2020, and it was horrible. I decided to take this medication because of the miscarriage. I miscarried because my progesterone and HCG levels were low. So I took this medicine in February 2020 to hopefully get my cycles back on track. They have always been irregular, or I'll skip a month. So we are hoping the medroxyprogesterone helps with my cycles. Taking the pills, I cramped, had breast pain, dizziness, headaches, hot flashes, and I had trouble sleeping the 7 days I took it. It took 9 days after stopping the medicine to get my period back, and honestly, it hurts a lot, and it's heavy. It feels like I'm miscarrying again, even though I'm not. Hoping the medicine was worth it and my cycles and hormones go back to normal."

Medroxyprogesterone "I was on the birth control pill for 11-12 years because I was having my periods in 6-8 months and was bleeding very heavily. Last year in August 2015, I stopped taking my pill and started using progesterone cream, black cohosh, vitex, etc., and my periods came on twice using this item. So my period did not come on for 3 months, and it finally started on Jan 1, 2016. Around the end of Feb 25, 2016, I went to my gyno to ask for Provera. I heard good stuff about this medicine online, and she wrote me a prescription for it. I took it on Feb 27, 2016, 10 mg for 10 days and five days off the pill. My period came on, it lasted about 7 days. Now it's almost time for the second round of Provera. Hope it works again."

Medroxyprogesterone "I hadn’t had a period in over 2 years and have suspected PCOS. I have been trying to get pregnant with my fiancé. I was given 10 mg for 10 days. While I was taking the tablets, I felt a little nauseous but nothing major. Afterward, I had really bad PMS. On day 4 after the last tablet, I started spotting. By day 7, I had heavy bleeding. Heavier than I have ever experienced in my life. It was brutal and messy. I’ve had a lot of accidents too. I’m now on day 9 of my period, and it’s just starting to ease up and will hopefully finish in the next week. Overall, it’s really effective, and it definitely works for me."

Medroxyprogesterone "I took the Depo Provera shot for the very first time ever on 9/17/19. (I’ve never taken any form of birth control before this.) It’s now 1/7/20, and I’m still bleeding! I was originally offered the shot due to heavy periods and large blood clots. I was told it would stop my period. After several attempts, I finally found out I have fibroids and wasn’t supposed to be given the shot but maybe the pill. I am now on Lo Loestrin pill, which I started sometime in December 2019. I am on my second pack (today is 1/7/20), and it has done nothing to help with the bleeding as I was told it would. This has been the worst experience ever! I’m so scared I will NEVER stop bleeding."

Medroxyprogesterone "I always had my regular period, but last year in 2020, I missed by 1 month and restarted naturally. Last month, I had protected sex and missed my period. Although it was confirmed that everything was okay, I was still scared as I missed my period for 10 days. I took 5 home pregnancy tests, all of which came negative, and went to the gynecologist. She advised me to take Provera 10 mg, 2 times for 5 days. As per her, periods should come within 3 days, if not, wait for more 7 days, else I had to do an ultrasound. I took the med as advised. Each day looked like ages for me. On the 4th day of my pill and on the 2nd day after taking the last pill, I had spotting. On the 3rd day after the last pill, Aunt Flo came. *sigh of relief*"

Medroxyprogesterone "I was on the jab for 5 years (20-25 years old). While I was on it, I was fine - no problems apart from frequent headaches. My last jab was in July 2017. I spotted a few times from September to December, and then in the middle of December, a nightmare started. I have now been bleeding for 4 weeks. Heavily bleeding as well. My breasts hurt too, I went to the doctor, and I was prescribed Norethisterone for 10 days. If this doesn’t help, I don’t know what will. These tablets give me an awful headache too. I am worried that I won’t be able to have children in the future. I feel weak because of the heavy bleeding. The doctors should inform of the side effects after stopping this injection. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone."

Medroxyprogesterone "The drug works for what it is supposed to do, but I had all kinds of side effects. I had hot flashes, mood swings, headaches, and some dizziness. I am taking Provera along with Clomid in hopes of having a baby. This is my second round, and it seems worse than the first one."

Medroxyprogesterone "It looks like a crime scene. That’s all I have to say. I bought a 48-count of pads. I’m on day 8, and I’m working on the second 48-count. So much blood, so much. Severe back pain for 7 days. Ruined panties, ruined sheets, ruined pants, ruined, ruined, ruined. Pray for the best for you all."

"I have taken Provera once before to help regulate my period. My menstrual cycle is very irregular (I can go up to 6 months between cycles, with some cycles lasting up to 3 months), and it seemed to have worked after the first time taking it. However, after six months or so, my periods became irregular once again. I've just started taking it for the second time, and it seems to be working, although I will have to say it's given me some pretty intense mood swings."

Medroxyprogesterone "I'm 18 years old, and ever since I've had my first period, it's been irregular. I've even been up to 6 months without it. It's my first time with Provera. I got my period two days after 10 days of taking the pill. The only side effects that I have had are that I've sort of had hair loss and frequent headaches. Other than that, I've always had PMS."

"Prescribed 10 mg for 10 days due to not having a period for 2 years. All tests previously have come back fine and a laparoscopy. Progesterone challenge was to check if my body can bleed. On day 8, and I've had to call in sick to work. Insomnia, severe depression, extreme headache, hungry all the time, no energy, eye pain, nausea, terrible mood swings, and suicidal thoughts. I would rather give up hopes of finding out what's wrong with me and if I can have children rather than endure another 2 days on this."

Medroxyprogesterone "This drug did the job, and that was to get my period to return. While taking the medication, I was nauseous and very anxious and emotional. I didn’t feel better until I finished the ten days of the medicine. When I was taking the medication, I honestly felt crazy the entire time. It took 7 days after the last pill for me to get my period. Like I said, it did the job, and the ends were worth the means."

Medroxyprogesterone "I was pretty terrified to try it out, hearing and seeing all these bad reviews. I got my first shot in November, around the time my period was ending. So far, that was my last period. The first month, I did get a little bit of cramping, which I usually don't get. I haven't had any cramping since then. Also, by the time I was due for my second period, I spotted instead for maybe 10 days (my periods usually last 5-7 days), and it seemed like it was more like discharge than it did spotting. Again, that's been it, no more periods so far nor spotting. As for weight gain, I may have gained a few pounds, honestly, not sure. I never step on a scale. But nothing drastic. I just recently got my second Depo on February 12th, we'll see if all goes well."

"I am a 19-year-old female, and my body produces more male hormones than female hormones required for periods. I lost my weight, I did everything possible I could do, but I did not get my periods. Finally, I came to know about medroxyprogesterone. I took the tablets, 10 mg. I started taking them on August 21, and on August 23, mean after 2 days of taking the medicine, I got my period. I had bloating and breast tenderness, nothing much else, side effects, and just pretty normal periods."

"I am on day 6 of medroxyprogesterone. It is to help me get my periods as I haven't been having them, and due to the fatigue caused, I take this at night. However, it does cause me some insomnia, as well as night terrors. I woke up several times this week in a night sweat. I’m also very irritable and have a strong appetite."

Medroxyprogesterone "I am a 22-year-old female, 5'8", 134 lbs. I've been on the Depo shot for 5 years. My first injection was administered my junior year of high school, 2009; 16 years old. I was consistent with the schedule for 3.5 years. In 2013, I started to skip injections because I read that it wasn't good to continue more than 5 years due to risks of osteoporosis and bone density, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I would only schedule to receive it to stop my cycles, so I'd get an injection, and instead of returning after the scheduled 13 weeks, I would wait about a month or 2 after, or when I'd start to spot, to get another dosage. The last injection was in May 2014, and I started bleeding on January 6, 2015, which stayed on for 24 days straight. Now they're coming every month, lasting for 1-2 weeks. Am I ovulating yet?"

Medroxyprogesterone "Today is my third day on Provera (generic). I have never taken this medication before, so we will see what happens. So far, I haven't had any other side effects besides a little bit of dizziness, it also gets me very tired. I hope this medication works for me like it has for others. I was prescribed Provera to try to restore my periods. I have never been regular but not so irregular either, if that makes sense... basically, I get a period every month (except last month), but I'm never sure when! I conceived my first baby naturally (5 years ago) without any medications, and now I can't seem to get pregnant naturally again."

Medroxyprogesterone "Took it to induce a period so that I could start Letrozole. It was prescribed for 5 days, and it worked! I started getting cramps by day 3 of taking it (mild) and got a period about 4 days after stopping it. I did not get a heavy flow like I expected from the reviews, it was just my normal flow. But the cramps were on a whole new level! I usually get lower back pain, but Provera made me have pelvic cramps for the first time in a long time. They weren't constant, but I made sounds and faces more than once, lol. I would say they were a solid 8/10. Completely worth it, it did its job."

"I started taking this medroxyprogesterone medication because I am trying to get pregnant and have always had irregular periods. In order for me to start Clomid, I had to get a period, so the first month I took 1 pill for 10 days. Did not get my period until 8 days after the last pill. Took Clomid, and the next month I had a negative pregnancy test. We restarted that process for the second time, and after taking 1 pill for 10 days again, I got my period 5 days after the last pill. I was fortunate to have a positive pregnancy test after the second round, but unfortunately, I had a miscarriage a week after we found out. Now I am restarting this medicine once again, and today is currently 9 days after the last pill and still no period. It’s very inconsistent, but it might just be me. Praying that my pd comes soon."

Medroxyprogesterone "I don’t understand what other users are expecting. I got my first Depo Provera injection in April 2020. I did spot for a month, minor cramping, and slight blood, enough to wear a liner. After that, I have not had a period until about a week ago. I started spotting... and now, as of yesterday, I have a whole proper period. My last injection was 6/16 and the next one is 9/1. Needless to say, I’m counting the minutes. I chose to go on the injection because I have the worst cramps, I mean, to the point of blacking out and having to get hospitalized. I love this - I didn’t necessarily do it to prevent pregnancy, so I can’t voice my opinion on that aspect, but the lack of periods between about May 2020 and August 2021... amazing."

"Literal lifesaver. I have heart issues, so birth control doesn't work well for me as it causes arrhythmia and palpitations. It took me years to get a doc to give me something other than birth control. When I started Provera, I had 10 mm of lining built up in my uterus, and my OB-GYN said it was a matter of time before I got cancer had I kept going without periods. Now, sometimes my periods come on their own. When they don't, I take Provera for a few days, and it seems to kickstart things again. The worst side effect is if I take the first dosage they had me started out with for the 10 days. Around day 5, I start getting horrific nightmares. I lowered the dose and days taken, and it still works minus the nightmares. No problems with my heart or BP."

Medroxyprogesterone "I have been taking Provera for 2 years or so. It has not let me down yet. I used to take 10 mg for 10 days, then my period came 3 days after, and it lasted 5 days. Now I have decided to take 10 mg for 5 days, and my period still comes 3 days after. My period only lasts for 4 days, though, which is great! The 2nd and 3rd day is heavy bleeding, but otherwise, it's definitely awesome!"
