Euthyrox (levothyroxine) "After taking Levothyroxine for 10 years, Walmart felt the need to mess with my prescription under the pretext that I wouldn’t know the difference. Without a prescription from my doctor they changed me to Euthyrox. I suffered, for about 6 months, with several side effects similar to the ones I had when my thyroid failed originally. Thankfully my doctor got me back on Levothyroxine which again returned me to a high quality of life. Be on alert if Walmart makes changes under the counter without your approval."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I was on Synthyroid 50mcg and generic levothyroxine 50mcg. With both medications I had palpitations, heat intolerance, and severe insomina. Synthyroid was worse than levothyroxine. My TSH numbers were fine but I couldn't tolerate the insomina. The positive thing was that I lost 30 pounds. I was switched to Tirostint 50mcg& immediately could finally sleep. No more insomnia, no more palpitations, no more heat intolerance. I recently got my lab work back & I have a normal TSH, but I've started getting hypothyroid-like symptoms I used to have when I was no thyroid medication. So even though my TSH is normal and I can sleep, I am having weight gain, increased constipation, and hair line eczema. Alas I will try another brand!"

Unithroid (levothyroxine) "I was seeing an endocrinologist that prescribed armor thyroid. She worked with me to keep my TSH at a 1.0. She retired and started seeing another endocrinologist. He put me on Unithroid and I felt awful on it. I was constipated, bloated, carpals tunnel in my hands, and major brain fog. I convinced my Primary care to prescribe armor for me and I feel so much better."

"I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and immediately started on Levothyroxine 50MCG once daily. After the first pill, I became very ill with chest pains, shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting, confusion, trembling, etc. Couldn't reach my family doctor. I ended up in the ER, but they told me it was only the side effect of the drug, and to continue to take it. I didn't! Feeling a little better after several days. It was the scariest thing that ever happened to me! I don't know what to do next. No endocrinologist in our area."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I have been on Tirosint for several years, and haven’t “noticed” any type of changes. I just don’t always feel great. But for those of you upset with the price, which it is ridiculous. Even with insurance, Tirosint has a coupon online. Just type in Tirosint coupon. Hope this helps!! I pay $25.00 a month."

"This stuff ruined my life. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos when I got bloodwork to see why I wasn't getting pregnant. I felt totally fine at the time. Dr noticed I had high thyroid antibodies. 6 weeks later and I'm ridden with the worst anxiety of my life. I wake up with heart palpitations, which I've never had before. My ears are also ringing loudly all the time. I feel like I'm going crazy. I had to start a new anxiety medication called buspar, but I still feel the heart palpitations and my ears still ring. My anxiety is a little better. I told my endo this and he tried switching me to tirosent, which is levothyroxine without the fillers. I am honestly scared to try it, so I'm not taking either. I felt fine prior to all this and now I feel awful. Supposedly it takes 6 weeks to get out of your system. I hope I can feel normal again. I was told I have to do IVF, but I'm not even in the right state of mind now and I don't know if I can do IVF with high antibodies and being unmedicated."

"After three months of dedicated use, my goiter finally went away and I could swallow freely again. I also noticed a higher metabolism, as well a longer attention span and a better ability to focus. I did not ever see any difference in my intolerance to cold, the dryness of my skin and barely to what I thought to be the worst Hashimoto symptom, the lethargy. I did notice if I took this medicine at night or later in the day it made my heart race. I think this medicine affects everyone differently and results are hindered by people having too high of expectations. For me it was a great medicine, it didn't solve all of the problems but as someone truly suffering from Hashimoto's, I am extremely grateful for what it has done."

"In 2009 diagnosed subclinical hypothyroid w/very small nodules! Followed blood type diet along with using fluoride free toothpaste! By 2015 nodules were gone via ultrasound! TSH though at 11. Started Levothyroxine at 25,mcg. Making sure to take it at 9:00pm as the thyroid peaks in the middle of the night. Also NOT to take the medicine with food in a 4 hour window. No more coffee either as it aggravates thyroid symptoms. Doing well making sure with this regiment my levels will not go higher or too low. August 28 is my next blood draw. I'll let you know my level."

"I have been on Levo for almost a year. I feel awful. My levels are never consistent. Leading the doctor to keep increasing the dose. Last time this caused severe dizzy spells that wouldn't go away. I still have bad hashimotos symptoms. I just had blood work done my T3 is low, my TSH over 4. She raised the dose again even after I refused. I want to try a different medication. I am going to a different doctor in a couple weeks. That can't come soon enough. My legs, knees, and ankles ache constantly. I'm in good shape, I exercise daily. It's so hard now that my legs hurt. I hate this medication. I've heard that the pharmaceutical companies really push this medication over other thyroid meds. This stuff is awful."

Levo-T (levothyroxine) "This is the first time receiving my Levothyroxine from this particular manufacturer. Same dosage I've been on for years but instead of blue, the pill is purple and has a strong odor that I've not noticed with the blue pills. It also has left a very metallic taste in my mouth which doesn't subside during the day."

Levoxyl (levothyroxine) "I really like Levoxyl and am bereft that it's unavailable now. It doesn't affect my weight at all. In fact, I let myself gain about 12 lbs a couple of years ago, juiced for a few days to get my eating back to normal and then proceeded to lose all the weight and then a few more. I have absolutely no side effects. I tried Synthroid once and didn't like it. I have also been on the same dosage, 0.1mg, all this time."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I am 25 years old and was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s a few months ago. Taking tirosint is the best I have felt in the 2 years of being diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I have more energy, the pill is easier to swallow (being gel), my mood has increased positively, and I can maintain weight. I will never take general levothyroxine or synthroid again."

"I am a 29 year old female. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when I was 24. My entire thyroid was removed, and I have been on levothyroxine ever since (about 4 and a half years now). The medicine works great for the most part, I wouldn't be able to move or have energy for anything if I wasn't on it. I take 150mg per day. Considering that I'm young, I started researching for long term effects. There do not seem to be any extreme, significant, effects which is great. "

Synthroid (levothyroxine) "I was started on Synthroid after being diagnosed with major depression but I had had fainting spells before the depression. After about two years of antidepressants I kept passing out and my BP was 80/50 often so low that drug store blood pressure testing stations could not get a reading. I was okay until a local lab tested me at a TSH of 68 then the next day it was 34. As a laboratory specialist I knew that variation signified testing problems but the doctors didn’t believe me and kept increasing the dose . Now my TSH is at the bottom end of testing, there is no lower result. My hair is falling out, my skin is terribly dry, I can’t sleep and temperatures of 64 F still feel too hot. I am reducing my meds because I can’t stand feeling like this any longer. On the proper dose I feel fine but my doctor is very resistant to change so I am doing it myself and when my blood levels are tested again I will see if I am correct."

Levoxyl (levothyroxine) "This medication did help with dry skin and hair associated with Hashimotos and perhaps did lessen my anxiety "somewhat", can't be sure since I also am in menopause and use Vivelle dot patches and Prometrium. I gained 30lbs in about one month of starting it. My TSH is low now and Free T4 almost optimal but Free T3 still too low. CONS: packed on the fat which I cannot get off, raised blood pressure, does not help with constant fatigue."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "Started taking Tirosint (50 mg) when I was diagnosed with Hashimotos and had a TPO pf 1200 and a TSH of 6.8. It has been a year and my TSH bounces between 1.03-2. I feel just fine and there have been no side effects, though it would have been cool to drop a couple pounds! Was using Willow Pharmacy but I understand they have been purchased by Highland. I hope they honor the coupon!"

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I have been taking NP Thyroid, Synthroid, and Levothyroxine for years, yet my weight continued to increase without any signs of weight loss. Although my eyebrows did grow back after taking NP Thyroid, it was not covered by my insurance. When I saw a new endocrinologist, they informed me that my T3 levels were too high and recommended that I switch to Tirosint. Unfortunately, Tirosint is also not covered by my insurance and costs $50.00 a month. I have been taking 175 mg of Tirosint for three months now, but have not noticed any significant changes. The only thing that has become lighter is my wallet. I have gained an additional 5 pounds, making my total weight gain since my Hashimoto diagnosis over 60 pounds and counting. Needless to say, I am not impressed. I plan to ask my doctor if I can switch to regular Levothyroxine or Synthroid pills at a lower cost of $5.00 to see if there is any noticeable difference. If this expensive medication had made any difference, I would gladly pay the 1000x increase in price not covered by my insurance, but unfortunately, I have noticed no improvement."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I was on it for two years as I liked the idea of no fillers, etc...yet all of a sudden when I needed more, my body rejected it. I needed to go up to 50 mcg. but it felt like a real let down, twice I went through that and then knew my body was rejecting Tirosint. So, I went back to Synthroid and I am fine."

"I have been depressed for almost 3 years, could not get enough sleep, was no fun, slept all the time, had no interest in anything anymore, felt like I was in a cloud most of the time, had vibrations in my thyroid, have gained 40 pounds. I started to take this medicine 3 DAYS ago and I feel like a different person- the old me. Everyone is commenting on how different I am. My body must have been so depleted of the thyroid hormone for years, and my body was not working right. If this gets better and better my life is going to change! I am so happy!"

I am getting extremely cold as it's winter time and my family is getting mad at me for having no energy. I'm going to switch bad to Synthroid when I see my endo again."

"I was put on Levothyroxine about 6 months ago then sent for further evaluation and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. The levothyroxine has caused more inflammation. My right knee is so inflamed I wound up going for an MRI to find out why it hurt so bad. I stopped taking the levothyroxin and my knee started feeling better within two days of stopping. I also feel less swollen overall. I don’t think this drug helps at all and in my case just made me worse. I’m no longer taking it, it’s not worth it to be in so much pain. I’ll have to find an alternative way of dealing with my autoimmune issues."

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) "Walmart switched me from levrothyroxine in August to euthyrox. I started feeling lethargic and not doing well. I didn’t know the cause until I switched back to levothyroxine. Euthyrox medication doesn’t work and I am throwing away what I have left. Cannot believe Walmart can just switch your medication without your approval. I will not use their pharmacy again!"

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) "Do not take it! I was switched from Levo when I moved states. I was miserable for the 2 months I was taking it Euthyrox I had extreme exhaustion, I would take the meds in the am and be back in bed for hours after. I would get exhausted doing laundry. More exhaustion than when I was pregnant. Extreme depression and my hair was falling out. Also the weight gain. I found this website and it made me not feel crazy but it was, in fact, the medication. My family doctor told me my numbers are in range that it couldn’t possibly be the medication causing all this and that I needed a “happy pill”. This is as I’m crying in his office begging for something different. He then agreed to put me on Synthroid. It was more expensive but it is what it is. He had told me my mono came back… Listen here, 2 days being on Synthroid and I got my life back! 2 weeks on and I was running around Disney not needing a nap! Do not take this crap!"
