Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I have been taken Tirosint for a week and it makes me feel great! More energy, sense of well being and less water retention. I have no side effects until now. I am Italian and in Italy the price is 7.40 euro ( 8.30 $) for one month supply. I take a package with 30 (not 28!), 50 mg each. So I can't understand why you pay so much and I'm sorry for you."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I am on Tirosint and also Armour. I cannot sleep, and my fingernails stay horrible. My TSH fluctuates. I feel better when it's around 2.0; mine is 3.93. I fight fatigue and mentally lack ambition. I wonder if others have this same complaint."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) "43 years old female, 5'7", 76 kg. I used to be 56 kg , and in a matter of 2 years I reached 80 kg after quitting smoking. I also had a plethora of other problems, amount which lethargy, extreme fatigue , depression . My doc discovered by accident my TSH was 10 , plus huge antibodies values. Started me at 50 mag Syntroid and I went up from there. I am now at 175 mcg , huge dose, and feel fantastic. My blood values are low,TSH , upper limit T4. I kind of talked my doc in increasing the dose.... as his choice was 125 mcg and I felt that was too low . I finally have the energy to go to the gym . I feel like my old self. I LOVE Syntroid and I hope he won't lower it for me ."

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) "Nope. Euthyrox is not viable for Hashimotos. I’ve asked for the pharmacist to continue dispensing the green generic tablets because of severe fatigue, headaches, weight gain, yada yada yada this medicine delivers. It looks like it may work for a couple of folks here but not the majority. Even if the pharmacist or doctor looks at you like you have no clue, every one of us realize that fine line with levothyroxine. Even in ultra low dosages, sensitive hashimotos patients know right away. I don't feeling like garbage so I pass."

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) "Started taking Euthyrox over the past few months after being switched from a previous generic. Heard that this brand of levothyroxine is priced as a generic which saved me money. Currently finding more stable TSH levels and appreciate the compliance packaging."

Unithroid (levothyroxine) "After 6 thyroid specialists, 3 hospital admissions, a gammet of various T4 meds at dosages ranging from 25mcg-125mcg and allergic reactions and increasing debilitating hypo symptoms. Unithroid is the med that FINALLY started bringing this nightmare under control. 50mcg + 5mcg compounded clean T3 3xday."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I was diagnosed in 2001 with hashimotos and just always knew since I was young I we different. I was always tired , insomiac, mental fog with no metabolism. Puberty made it worse and pregnancy sent me into storm. Years of misdiagnosis and remedies I had been on synthroid for years ,, with my numbers saying I was therapeutic, I felt no better. I took myself off all meds and spoke with my nurse prac about trying something new. Tirosent has made me feel so much better. I have internal energy, it's making me feel like getting back into the gym and motivated . Down side is cost. In 4 months it's gone up twice ..paid $104 today.. it hurts us financially but I can't put a price on my health. Guess I'll eat less .. get that benefit too :)"

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I have had Hashimoto's disease for 33 years. I have taken Tirosint for 13 years. I have allergies to dyes and other excipients in medications. I tried other brands, generic and natural, but Tirosint has worked well for me. If my dose needs adjustment they offer 13 to 25 mcg options to make transitioning up or down easier on my body. Always advocate for yourself. It's your body, you know how you feel. Speak up!"

Unithroid (levothyroxine) "I have been on Unithroid for a few weeks. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's when I was 13, and now at 55, I was on Synthroid for 35+ years. I always felt horrible - irritated, had sleep issues, and couldn't focus on anything. In the few weeks I've changed meds, I feel like a new person! I wish I had asked for other options years ago! I also had gained 25+ lbs, and now I'm losing weight and hoping to be back to where I was years ago."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "My doctor recently changed my T4 medication from Synthroid to Tirosint. Even though we lowered the dose to 100 mcg, from 110, I feel like it is still high. I am going to try taking it every other day to see how that works & do a blood test in a couple of weeks. Anyone with the same experience?"

Synthroid (levothyroxine) "Started Synthroid 50 mcgs on August 25th 2020. I was 6’3 at 266 lbs. It is now October 28th 2020 and I have lost 49 pounds. My weight is 217lb. If you have hashimotos disease. I highly recommend the paleo or AIP diet. All I did was diet and take my meds every day at 9 a.m on an empty stomach with water. I would then wait till 12 before I would eat lunch to make sure all of the meds absorbed. My antibody count is still unreadable so I have to up my dose to 75 mcgs now. Needless to say this medicine seems to do it’s job. But your diet is nearly as important."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "Totally agree with Babs. My prescription price doubled, and now I cannot afford the medication. Not sure what happened starting in 2019 other than the company doubling the price and insurance companies refusing to cover the difference. My insurer dropped it from their covered prescriptions totally. Such a shame. This will really mess with those that depend on this medication."

Unithroid (levothyroxine) "When the medication was made by Johnson-Stevens, it worked very well. I’ve been on it for over 10 years. The past couple years, something changed and it stopped working. After taking it in the morning, I had a metallic taste in my mouth and made me very tired. I will report these side effects to the FDA. Had to switch to another brand made in Austria, but works very well."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's at the age of 18. I started on TIROSINT 50 but wasn't doing anything at all, my TSH was exactly the same. I jumped up to 75 and still no change. Finally after 4 months I got up to 100 and only then my TSH started dropping. As of today, I maintain a TSH value of 2 with TIROSINT 100 . I want to point out that the prices that all of you state seem quite marked up. In Greece, I pay 8.50€-8.80€ for a month worth of supplies (1 box of 30 capsules TIROSINT 100) . I've read that you can pay up to 80-100$ for 84 days worth which is insane! And it's not covered by health insurance in Greece . It's crazy how much mark up you have to pay! For me ,it's kinda weird and I get quite uncomfortable thinking that I'll have to depend on this medicine for the rest of my life. I can't imagine myself taking this for like 40-60 years everyday. In my 2,5 years using TIROSINT I had 0 issues with it."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) "I have been on Synthroid for a while and when I started having stomach issues I could no longer tolerate pills. My endo doc changed me from Synthroid to Levoxyl and I couldn't tolerate that either. Now I'm on injectable, what a relief to know I have options!"

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "Thyroid was removed a year ago for papillary cancer, been on levothyroxine since. Gained 20 pounds on generic levothyroxine and felt awful, would wake up with a puffy face and eyes even though blood tests showed in range. My endo just switched me to tirosint and after one week I feel so much better. My face and legs are retaining less water, last time I felt this good was prior to my thyroidectomy. I have celiac and crohns which probably caused absorption issues. I also hate dairy and generic levothyroxine has a dairy base, go figure."

"This medication was a God sent! I am 49 had no idea I had hashimoto til I went to endro dr. and begged him to put me on hormone replacement therapy because I felt aweful all the time. He saw warning signs on a previous bloods test I took with me on my first visit, had more test done and there it was. He started me on 25 mg, then over time increased it to 50, 75 and now I am on 88 the past 2 weeks. All this happened in about a 7 month period. My life has completely changed, no more PMS, no more hormone fluctuations, much easier to loose weight and I don't yo yo all the time, better mood, more energy, overall a much better quality life. I have struggled for almost 30 years and no more. No side effects, maybe low libido, reduced sex drive."

Levothroid (levothyroxine) "Thyroid supplements are really hard on my stomach & I couldn’t take them for long. I found out most have lactose in them; Levothroid does not. If you’re lactose intolerant or have digestive problems, I would highly recommend trying Levothroid. Going on 6 years now and no ill effects."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "After being diagnosed with Hashimoto's (awful ideopathic urticaria/welts from being touched), I was told to try generic Synthroid. My rashes disappeared. Months later, I did a self-trial and came to find out it caused my awful acid reflux (so bad I was screaming and wrenching in pain), so it was a choice of off Synthroid totally or try Tirosint. My TSH and other levels are great and no more daily acid relux. Thank you, Tirosint!"

Tirosint (levothyroxine) "Horrible medication. As a 65 year old with recent diagnosis of Hashimoto's disease, I was on this drug for 2 months. The second month things got worse. Chest pains, not sleeping, terrible muscle aches. Well, I ended up in the emergency room with chest pains which led to a triple bypass operation!!! This drug should be off the market!!!"

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) "I find it interesting to read some of the comments that are posted on this site. In my experience with thyroid disease, I have experienced different pharmacies carry different levothyroxine made by different companies. They all carry a similar side effect profile. With that said, my experience has been positive. I have seen better numbers. I used to take a product made in Puerto Rico and I found my TSH would go all over the place and I would take this faithfully...Euthyrox has improved my numbers, simply put... I appreciate that Walmart carries this. I realize everyone's experience can be different. Mine has been a positive one and I like paying $4/month. I remember the days paying >$100 on Synthroid...My numbers are fine and the side effects are what I've always experienced before on different levo products."

"I have Hashimoto's Disease and have been taking Levothyroxine for approximately 4 years. My dosage was recently raised from 88 mcg to 137 mcg. I cannot sing the praises enough about this medication. I have not experienced any side effects and feel better most of the time. I have learned to control my weight issue with diet and exercise, the weight loss is slow, but at least it's working. Before I was diagnosed I was always tired, would sleep most of the time, could not concentrate, became forgetful and had a incredibly painful headache on the back of my head. I'm so glad this drug is available."

"Levothyroxine doesn't work with my body. It is like an independent contractor on prevailing wage. Unfortunately, healthwise, I am female, a retired, disabled vet in the VA. Women are 20 % of the armed forces. This is the only Hypothyroid drug VA prescribes in all VA sources. Exceptions for medications to treat hypothyroidism are made when and where the VA treats politicians, their spouses, or their wives. Allowances are made for the politically important. The "doctor" can get this for "their" special patients by submission of a single source requisition, and special funding. The taxpayer gives a full healthcare ride, if requested, to the people that determine who lives and who doesn't. Males, like us females, who are hypothyroid, are treated in the same way. We could all benefit, with all medicines being available by congressional preset prices and the proper dd 214. Do I deserve a choice? Do I have to be sick?I Judy"

Synthroid (levothyroxine) "Like many I was doing amazing on Nature Throid until about 2017 and since then I have bounced from no medication and from tirosint and synthroid. Synthroid has been the worst decision of my life! I’m feel so sad and depressed, which probably has to do with a 40lb weight gain after switching to synthetic meds. I truly wished this worked for me!"

"Levothyroxine worked for about 1 month. I felt better when I first started taking it. My T4 numbers improved. Then, gradually, any benefits from this drug faded. After a year on Levothryroxine, I now feel terrible...sleepy, low energy, weight gain. All the familiar symptoms came roaring back. The doctor never tested my T3 levels. I found a new doctor, who told me long ago that Levothyroxine would not work, that some people do not convert T4 to T3, and she has prescribed Armour Thyroid. I start that tomorrow."
