For Atrophic Vaginitis "Been using it for over a year, no problem at all, in fact, excellent results. Got a bit worried this week when my GP at a routine check said there are no risks involved. That upset me, as I hadn't been aware in the first instance, hence me looking on this site. Decided to use it every 5 days now to see if the effect remains the same, if so, will then push it to every 6 days."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I am aged 68, and 3 years ago suddenly had vaginal and bladder pain, frequent urination, soreness, itching, redness, and swelling. The soreness has recently gotten worse, and my gynecologist prescribed Vagifem. From the first dose, I experienced bloating and stomach ache but carried on until dose 7. About 1 hour after insertion, I experienced the most terrible burning, which carried on all night and has been flaring up in the 4 days since. Now I cannot use any of my emulsifiers or herbal creams, which used to help. This medication has caused the worst pain ever. In my experience, even a score of 1 is too good for it."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I have been using Vagifem for around 5 years, and initially, it was great, but in the past 12 months, I have also been experiencing burning and irritation and have also started wondering if there has been a change in what is in the pessary."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I started using it 3 weeks ago, noticed sudden drowsiness, wake up wanting to sleep all day. It does help lubricate my inner vagina, but that's about it. I use 10 mg 2 times a week, will reduce to once a week and see what happens. I am very sad as I am 41 and had fallopian tube cancer at 38 with a full hysterectomy and used to be very sexual. Now, I cringe at the thought of a penis inside me."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "Vagifem made me dizzy, too, and also caused ocular migraines, very scary. I never get headaches. I also despair of the cavalier overuse of plastic. Vagifem did work to stop my recurring urinary tract infections. I am 68 years old with acute vaginal atrophy. I am off Vagifem now. I am lucky to have discovered vaginal laser therapy, which I must finance myself, but which works without drugs to end the recurring UTIs. A gynecologist in my city offers this therapy, which costs about what an annual gym subscription would cost."

For Atrophic Urethritis "I started taking Vagifem about 7 weeks ago, on Dr.'s advice, saying it's more effective than tablets. No leaflet in the box to describe side effects. Like you, Brody, I started feeling dizzy one morning when I was getting out of bed. I felt a bump on my nose, and when I opened my eyes, I was on the floor. I fainted and hit my head on the bedside drawer, haven't taken them since."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "After using Vagifem pessaries for 2 months, my hair started falling out. I am really concerned I will be left without hair if I continue using this 'medication.' My GP said it's not Vagifem but low iron levels or the menopause. I've always had low iron levels, and it's never affected my hair. To couple this problem, I've also experienced pressure on the front part of my scalp and a burning sensation on my scalp. Has anyone else had this problem, and how was it resolved?"

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I was prescribed Vagifem vaginal inserts as I have severe vaginal atrophy. This medication is extremely painful to insert 8-10 cm into the vagina of a woman who has a dry and shrunken vagina, even if copious quantities of lubricant are used. It has had absolutely no positive effects on my symptoms, and I am still getting up to pee several times a night. What a disappointing waste of money."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I started Vagifem 10 mg 7 days ago for pain and dryness down below. It has not helped, in fact, it’s made it worse: painful back and stomach, sore head. I spoke to my GP about the issues I was having and was told it can’t cause backache, etc. I’m not convinced after reading some of the reviews here, so I am not taking it anymore to see if it stops. If it is the cause of this, it’s a horrible drug. I will come back with an update. Take care, everyone."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "Insufficient insertion instructions. The inside of the applicator came away from the outside once. It says the tablets won't fall out when you stand up, but the first three times, my cervix must have pushed it straight out. Tried using them at bedtime, only to find them on the sheet in the morning. Tried again at bedtime, only to find the tablet stuck, half-melted, to the tip of my cervix the next day. Slight stinging sensation at first; when that stops, it's probably because the tablet has fallen out. No instructions for pessary wearers; presumably, we remove the pessary before administering. The only method I haven't tried yet is putting the tablet in, followed immediately by inserting the pessary, but that would defeat the object, I imagine, leaving me dry and sore beneath. I don't care for throwaway applicators; it seems a waste of plastic not to wash and reuse them. The doctor said to stay on these for life, but I can't see the point if they won't stay in. Liquid or ointment would be better."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I've had this prescribed by my doctor who knows I have had to use Primolut to control menorrhagia associated with perimenopause at 47 yrs. Dr. knows my gynecologist monitors endometrium thickening as a result of using Primolut as it can cause endometrial cancer. A recent ultrasound revealed normal thickening of the uterus for my age, 57. Some uterine fibroid cysts, though I am post-menopause. Ovaries are normal. My constant bladder infections and incontinence were attributed to atrophy of the vagina. And I was told initially in my 40s to use a cream on the urethra, I never did. But the infections affected my kidneys, and I started to lose my hair, and damage occurred in hair structure. So I'm tempted to use the Vagifem even if it is risky."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I’ve been using this since my hysterectomy back in 2005 with no issues, twice a week, but in the last two months, I’ve noticed burning, which I thought was a UTI infection or bladder infection. Did three rounds of antibiotics. I saw no difference. I also think that they must’ve changed the ingredients in this hormone replacement because I’m experiencing itching, burning, and I feel like I have to pee all the time. It is so bad that I’m waking up at night with a burning sensation."

For Atrophic Urethritis "47 years old. Prescribed by gynecologist. 1 month of being in a nightmare. Severe vaginal swelling, itchiness, burning, pain, and thrush-like symptoms without discharge but severe pain. My vagina since taking this medication feels like an overripe, rotten, juicy tomato. I also have severe water retention and swelling in my lower body. Just waiting until it's out of my system."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "It works great for increasing lubrication and sensation, but has caused hair loss. I have never dealt with hair loss ever, even under periods of stress. It doesn't run in my family at all. I'm in my 20s and was prescribed this for vaginal dryness. My doctor didn't want to further investigate my symptoms and simply used this as a band-aid. My self-esteem is destroyed. Am hoping for some improvement in my hair ASAP."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I had a prolapse as I had a hysterectomy through the vagina by keyhole surgery while I had bowel surgery caused by endometriosis, which caused the walls of my womb to come down. I was only 49, but Vagifem has kept my prolapse at bay, and no more swelling. I have been on it for 21 years with no side effects and glad I have it, but it's not for everyone. Try other things that suit you, everyone is unique."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I haven't had a UTI for nearly 2 months now, which is a huge bonus. Using these sticks twice a week with no obvious side effects so far. I used to get an infection twice a month for over 2 years, and I'm 70. Happy to keep taking this medication."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "Vagifem still works, but due to a lower dose, I have to use it more often. My doctor says this is very common with a reduced dosage. I'm very glad that she will prescribe sufficient pessaries for comfort."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "The Teva generic for Vagifem does not deploy. I have gone through as many as five cylinders trying to get one that works. The medication simply gets wedged in the top of the device and will not budge. I have tried prying it out, and it disintegrates. It simply does not work properly and is very frustrating because I had no problem with Vagifem in this regard."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "It was prescribed Vagifem for atrophic vaginitis by my gyno. At that time, I was taking Topamax for severe migraines, and I think I had a bad reaction, so I had stopped taking it. However, almost a year later, when I started losing a lot of hair (stopped Topamax), I tried this med one more time as my last resort, and it made a miracle. My hair finally stopped falling!!!!! You don’t even know how happy I was. I know that Vagifem is helping, but I don’t know how long I have to take it for? Don’t have side effects at all, my migraine is in control. My vagina is still dry, though, maybe a little better than before. I will take it for now because I don’t have a choice. I am doing more research because I don’t understand how it’s working since my estrogens are high, my progesterone is low, and my cortisol and melatonin levels are (I did a complete hormone test, which I had to pay $450), but it’s working. If I find out how my body works, I will let you know."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I've been prescribed Vagifem 10 for dryness and vaginal itching. I am now on once a week, and I had a good 2 days with no itches. Then on Monday, I did my normal one, and now it's driving me nuts. I really didn't give it a thought that this could be the problem, not the cure. I'm not using it anymore and ringing my GP tomorrow."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I've been using Vagifem off and on for over 20 years. I suffer from severe vaginal atrophy, pain, burning, itching, constant discomfort. Sex is impossible. I can only use it when things get really bad due to previous breast cancer. But if I could, I'd be on it all the time. I sometimes get headaches from it, but it's well worth it to me."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "Vagifem has given me total relief from all the symptoms of VA. I feel much more comfortable and glad I told my GP the problems I was having as half thought they were things I'd just have to get on with being post-menopausal, but I was referred to a gynecologist and realized my discomfort was real and could be helped. Feeling so much better :)"

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I have terrible vaginal dryness and vulval soreness since having a hysterectomy and oophorectomy for very heavy periods at age 51. This problem has gotten worse over the years, and I can no longer have sexual intercourse. The GP gave me HRT patches, which I used for a year following the hysterectomy, but they did not help. I’ve had Vagifem tablets and creams, but they have not helped either."
