Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "Two hours after taking the first dose of Augmentin, my son started vomiting every 5 minutes for 2 hours straight. It got to the point where it became so violent that he started vomiting blood, which I saw was indeed a side effect of the drug. I had to take him to the ER to stop the vomiting and get him hydrated. It was a nightmare! The next day, he had the most severe diarrhea he's ever had, all with just one dose. He did take it with food."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I would NEVER recommend this drug to ANYONE! Took 1 pill about 3 hours before bed. Finally got to bed at 3 am and lay there for an hour with such nausea I had to get up. Tried to take some Pepto-Bismol for it, and no sooner than I took it, I got violently ill! I was vomiting the rest of the night until around 6 am. I have no problem at all with taking regular Amoxicillin, so whatever else is in here, my body rejects it strongly! One minute I'd be sweating like it was 120 degrees, the next I'd have the chills so bad it felt like I was outside with shorts and a tank top on in the middle of winter (like now). NEVER AGAIN! Stay as far away from this drug as possible!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "3 hours after my first dose of Augmentin 875, I started vomiting in addition to diarrhea. I thought I had a stomach flu. I waited 5-6 days to restart the antibiotic. Well, 3 hours after that dose, guess where I was, in the bathroom vomiting again for several hours! I will NEVER take this medicine again!!! I've had Augmentin before but only experienced nausea. Not anymore! :("

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "After a couple of hours after taking an 875 mg tab, my stomach became rock hard. I had the most debilitating stomach cramps known to man. I've never vomited as much and as hard as I did that day. The diarrhea was like I was urinating out of my anus. After drinking a bottle of kefir, I was good again."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I am currently staying in the hospital overnight with an infected colon (thought it was appendicitis, it was so close), crazy watery diarrhea, vomiting, severe stomach cramps, and therefore dehydration. I have never had digestive problems like this, and I've never been in a hospital overnight. This is seriously because of Augmentin. Do not take this drug!"

For Bacterial Infection "This stuff sucks, period. I rarely have problems with any meds. I've taken antibiotics for several reasons in my life, always gonna have some discomfort or side effects, but this stuff can't even work properly because you just puke it up. I got to my second dose of the 875/125 mg, and it's pointless...projectile vomiting and diarrhea. Took with meals and probiotics, it doesn't matter. I don't care what anybody else says, how are the other meds, probiotics, or food supposed to work if you just puke within an hour or two of taking it? I have even asked other doctors and people who work at hospitals. Augmentin is a broad antibiotic used by general practitioners who don’t know specifically what to target, so they throw Augmentin at it to just generally treat stuff knowing full well the side effects and that it is a bad and low-rated medicine. It “may” work on some people, but I feel that number of people is arguably lower than the people it causes problems with."

For Bacterial Infection "Do not take amoxicillin/clavulanate antibiotic EVER! Doctor prescribes me this antibiotic for a bacterial infection, which I did not have, the lab test came up virus later. I did not know that this amoxicillin/clavulanate is just another name for Augmentin because I took the latter years ago and spent one whole day in the bathroom vomiting and diarrhea. Here we go, took this unknowingly and guess what? Same reaction, started jetting out from both ends violently at the same time. And I only took one pill. I just do not know the effectiveness of this drug because I can't damn keep this pill down in the stomach for more than 30 mins. Now I know I will never touch this stuff EVER AGAIN! Took amoxicillin many times, never had that reaction, apart from minor stomach discomfort. NEVER AGAIN!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "This cleared my throat infection within 2 days and made me feel so much better pretty quickly as far as temperature and discomfort were concerned. However, I did vomit with it and felt nauseous for about an hour and a half after taking it. The diarrhea is still with me on day 4."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Started on 100 mg of Augmentin for sinus infection. Cleared up sinuses well but had severe diarrhea. I wasn't concerned by this considering it's the common side effect, but I just took my last dose. Not four hours later, I threw up twice and had more bowel movements. This medication was not for me."

For Sinusitis "This medication is terrible. It causes me to have very bad headaches while I feel like I'm having migraines, but it's caused by this medicine. I get terrible diarrhea, nausea, and I throw up. I just feel like garbage. I was told this will clear me up and make me feel better, but I feel way worse now. I have been on it for 3 days, and I have now decided to stop. Hopefully, I will feel better when this medicine is out of my system. Much love to all using it."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I was diagnosed 7 days ago with a sinus and ear infection. I had vertigo, terrible throat pain, exhausted. After about two days of Augmentin, the pain went away, and I started feeling better. I’m no longer dizzy, having throat and sinus pain or draining in my ear. However, I decided to stop 4 days short of my 10-day course because I’m having AWFUL side effects. Worst abdominal pain ever, constipation, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, back, hip, and leg pain. This doesn’t seem normal. Hoping my sinuses and ear are healed enough, or I’ll be back to the doctor for a different medication."

For Bacterial Infection "Nasty multiple cat bites, so urgent care gave me this. 6 hr later, suddenly vomited all over with no notice. After 2 days, only 4 pills, now anything I eat running straight through me within 30 mins. Absolutely horrible and been off that medicine 2 days and still happening even after 4 Imodium in the last 24 hrs. Does anyone know how to stop this? So severe I can't go to work as I don't even have a minute to run to the bathroom. I will NEVER EVER take this medicine again even if I'm dying!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "As a sufferer of many sinus and ear infections, I knew with this 90-degree heat in ACs with poor air quality that I was going to get sick. Got sick last Wednesday with sinus issues, got worse, so went to the primary. The doctor said she didn't think I had a sinus or ear infection, so she told me to continue on neti pots and Sudafed 24. She did give me a prescription if I wasn't feeling better by Monday (today). After a weekend of still feeling miserable, I got the prescription. Usually, I get amoxicillin, and when I looked at the script, it had amoxicillin clav, so I didn't think anything of it. I pick up the script. Take the pill on the way to work. Sick within an hour. Googled and found I was given the generic of Augmentin. Never again! Threw up for an hour straight - not worth it!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "First dose with dinner. Went to bed about 2 hrs later, woke suddenly, barely able to make it to the bathroom, began vomiting, then couldn't get off the floor, too weak. Began shaking, son called ambulance and next thing I remember was seeing my dad in a chair beside my bed in the ER. Was on fluids, Dr. came in and gave me Demerol. I went to sleep and don't remember leaving the hospital or going home. That was the entire experience. Never been so violently ill. Still have no idea why it made me so sick."

My husband said I kept asking the same questions over and over. I had memory loss and still can't remember the day I took the dose. Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "Got a very deep cat bite and ended up getting a bad infection up my whole arm. I left the hospital and was in the emergency room the next day because after 2 doses and 24 hours it was actually spreading. After 48 hours, the swelling finally started to go down, which I was happy about, but I started getting severe side effects as well. Constant feeling of vomiting, complete loss of appetite, and slight to severe confusion. (Poured chips out of the bag onto the counter thinking I had a bowl out. And calling things by the wrong name constantly.)"

For Urinary Tract Infection "On vacation and had a UTI! I was given nitrofurantoin, and they sent out for culture. Finished meds, then got a call saying the bacteria was Proteus mirabilis, which is another common bacteria, but the nitrofurantoin doesn't kill it. So I needed to start another antibiotic that responds better. I can't take Bactrim or Cipro, so she prescribed amoxicillin-clav. Took with a large dinner last night, but then 6 hours later, sick feeling and nauseous! Threw up 2 times, which is very rare for me. No way, not taking these pills!"

For Bacterial Infection "Within an hour of taking one pill, I was in so much pain. My stomach had me balled up into the fetal position, then severe diarrhea and vomiting began! If one pill can cause so much havoc, I'd hate to see what a second one will do (I will never use this med again). This was hands down one of the worst and most painful nights of my life! Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Took Augmentin for severe sinusitis. After 2 hours, started vomiting, it would not stop. Rushed to the medical center, given an injection to stop the vomiting, didn't work. Vomiting continued until only bile and blood was coming out. For Bacterial Infection "I took this medication because I have an ear infection and a swollen gland that's causing a sore throat. These pills are HUGE. I took two pills yesterday 12 hours apart and went to bed at 8 PM. I woke up 3 hours later and started vomiting... a lot. After I had calmed down a bit, I went to lay down... and I had to run back to the bathroom to vomit again. I kept feeling sick, but I had nothing left, and the second time there was blood. Not worth it at all."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Went to a doctor's and was initially prescribed Trimethoprim for a UTI, but following a 3-day course developed a temperature and vomiting, so was admitted to the hospital, and they prescribed me Amoxiclav 3 times a day for 10 days. Absolutely vile stuff, think out of the 8 tablets I vomited violently after 5, and the other 3 I was sat there clutching a sick bowl, feeling like I was going to vomit for hours. I've spoken to my doctor, and now been changed to Ciprofloxacin, so fingers crossed I have more luck on this one. But would not recommend Amoxiclav one bit, made me feel 400 times worse than I already did."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed Augmentin for a dental infection/tooth abscess. When I went to the dentist, I had already been on 3 or 4 days of penicillin. The penicillin didn't seem to be clearing the infection, and the dentist couldn't get me in for a root canal for another week. There, Augmentin came into play. The first dose I took on an empty stomach (couldn't eat with my throbbing face). So I had some nausea and just figured it was normal. The next dose I took with food, as directed. I puked viciously. I took another dose or two and had similar results... so much nausea and vomiting, it was hard to appreciate the fact my face wasn't throbbing. So it works well on infections, hard on the stomach though."

For Bacterial Infection "This medicine was given to me for a bacterial infection that I had from an abscess on my butt. It did help rid the infection, but I had almost every possible side effect that comes with this medicine. I had a loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting whenever I would try to eat or right after and whenever I would attempt to take another pill. I also had crazy thoughts or hallucinations, not sure what was going on. I couldn't sleep, couldn't stand for longer than a few seconds without getting dizzy. I almost passed out in the shower every day. I had really bad fevers that would go back and forth all day. I could go on, but I'll be here all day. I was told to stop taking it once I developed a bad diaper rash. It works, but it may not be worth all the side effects."

For Strep Throat "Worst experience I have ever had with any medicine. I was prescribed this for strep throat. On the first day I was fine, but by the second day I was so extremely nauseous that I couldn't even stand up. Had some, but not a lot of diarrhea. I continued to take it because I thought it was just from where I was sick. Today is the fourth day, I woke up and felt not myself. I explained to my husband it felt like I had taken some hard drugs and was having a bad high. I was feeling so sick and lightheaded, I vomited multiple times today and had diarrhea. I have decided to quit taking this medicine. It's Christmas Eve, and I can't feel like this in the morning. Hope I don't, anyways! Never taking this again, especially after reading similar stories!"
