Everything was going really well and I felt better than ever, for the first two wks on 145 and have been on the 290 for four days. Nothing for two days except stomach distension. I am so disappointed beyond belief, I will take the 145 for a month and give it a fair shot.
Has anyone experienced that linzess stopped working?

I been taking Linzess and it was working fine and everything now suddenly I been constipated 3 days I go but it's not soft at all it's hard lumps
To everyone that's thinks their meds have stopped working here's your answer. I've been on linzess for over 5yrs 290mg and I went through the same thing and couldn't figure out why until I saw it with my own eyes. I was receiving my prescription in its original bottle and it was working but as soon as my pharmacy started putting it in their own RX bottle all hell broke loose my meds stopped working. It amazes me how in bold black letters right on the front of the original bottle it say warning ⚠️ pharmacy pls do not remove medication from this bottle. Here is the problem, the pharmacy gives you an open bottle without the freshness package that comes in the original bottle. I then told my pharmacy that my meds haven't been working since they started doing this. Moral of this story is that you need the freshness packets there are 2 in each bottle so for me it would be 6 packets because I get a 90day supply of meds. When
they don't give you the original freshness packets you tell them you need them or your meds will not work period. I also keep my meds in the fridge and I haven't had that problem ever again. I truly hope this helps someone.
I also wanted to note that I take my pill 2hrs ahead of time so if I gotta get up at 9am I take my pill at 7am. I'll lay back down until 9am and when I get up and start moving around I have to go to the bathroom and the rest is all down hill from there.
I am having the same problem with linzess... worked for a while... stopped working... increased dose... worked for a while more and then just stopped all together. It's cheap for me at 15 dollars a month but what's the use in it. Surly there is something better out there.
Yes.
I was prescribed Linzess for IBS with constipation and I was pleased with how the very first dose worked so well (145 MCG daily). The pharmacist mentioned that if by chance it seemed too strong at first it was OK to take it every other day. Frankly, (TMI) I hadn't had a full, firm, and solid BM (e.g. not raisin to grape to walnut-sized poop fragments) in a long time. I felt great! I continued to have several solid BMs the first day/night to the point that I thought it best to do as the pharmacist said and skip the following day.
I took the next dose the day after and pretty much went back to "normal" (several small, grape-sized BM's all day). The day after that I took it every day and in the almost 4 weeks I've been on Linzess it seems to have "pooped-out" (pun intended). I take as directed: Take on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before the first meal of the day. I have always consumed approximately 3-4 liters of water daily so it can't be related to insufficient water intake.
About 2 weeks in I supplemented the dosage with 100 MG generic o-t-c stool softener (which didn't help much). 3 weeks in I tried an AloeLax 225/ Aloe Ferox - Mill Leaf Resin (with water, the night before) which did help but I don't intend to take AloeLax daily (not recommended for use past 1 week anyway).
I have read and seen online that Linzess "kicks in" after about a week so I'm confused. It worked amazingly well the very first day and after that, I've reverted back to business as usual.
My next medical appointment isn't for another week so maybe they'll up the dose to the 290 - who knows. I'll add an update if anything changes.
It is maddening to say the least! I take my 290 and go back to bed for a couple hours and IF I have taken stool softeners with it and IF I haven't skipped a dose it MIGHT work!!
i have been linked for 10 months has been working up to there.but not starting to work.now i have to take 1 serving of miralax before i go to bed then when i wake up it works all the time getting worse i take max dose to . i have to set aside 2-3 hours a day now deal with this problem . not sure why the maker of this says to take this when you wake up no food 30 minutes before eating i tried that a few didn’t do anything for taking it before bedtime was the only way it had any chance to work guess to time go to back my method of using the rest room
I have been using Linzess for 3 years. I use the 290. I have found that I also must use Miralax every morning in my coffee. I also find that it will not work if I get up and move around too soon. I need to stay in bed and watch TV for a couple of hours before it will work. Fortunately I am retired and can do that. It seems even if I wait if I have to go someplace early in the day it won't work. It seems my intestines are very attuned to the tension I feel knowing it may not have time to work, thus it doesn't work. A bit of a conundrum for sure. It also seems that if I leave early and it doesn't have time to work, it will be off for a week or more. I have had to take a laxative but then it will get back on track.
Unless I take fiber pills and stool softener I don't go.The linzess alone doesn't work.
I was one of those who wondered if Linzess stopped working for people but I found a solution! I take my Linzess in the morning along with a Dulcolax stool softener (not laxative) I rotate every other day of taking 1 or 2 softeners and I take 1 softener at night to keep things soft! This has worked for a year or more so I am happy. Oh plus I drink more water too!! I am one of those who has been constipated all my life going every 5 to 7 days and I am so glad that is not happening any more!!!
Help
Yes, I have found the effectiveness of Linzess to be VERY inconsistent. I sometimes experience good efficacy for a couple of weeks, and then it will suddenly stop working. Most recently, I finished one bottle of 30 capsules (290mg. each), with which I had experienced fairly consistent efficacy, and opened a new bottle of 30 capsules 4 days ago. So far, the capsules from the new bottle have had NO effect. I’m wondering about the quality controls at the pharmaceutical manufacturer.
I've been on Linzess for over a year, and yes every once in awhile it quits working. It's very frustrating, but Linzess has worked for me. I Haven't had luck with anything else. What I do is start adding Miralax, Metamucil, and enemas to get things moving again. Then Linzess starts working again. I would say in a year it has happened three times, and i'm willing to power thru those times to stay on it.
I have been constipated all my life and I am 65. I have been on opiods for chronic pain for 5 years. I first took Linzess 290 and it worked too well so I stopped. Then I couldn't stand it anymore so started again and it seemed to work really well but now after being fairly regular for a couple months it just quit working. It has been 3 days now and I look pregnant and I now took a laxative so I am hoping but I know it will be like flood gates opening but relief all the same! This is crazy! Why can't they find something that works for people who have chronic pain ???
Yes! I have been on the 290mg. on and off (mostly ON) for the last 3+years. I was ON it for about a year, during which it worked “OK” (worked about half the time). I went off of it for 8 months and then started taking it in February or March 2018. It worked sometimes - I could tell that my bowel functioned more effectively around 1/3 to 1/2 of the time. Around 2+ months ago, it stopped working. That’s a real disappointment, as though my Medicare Part D plan picks up a large part of the cost, it still costs me around $1,500 per year out-of-pocket. I’m very disappointed.
I had starting taking it and I took it a few times but yesterday and today it did not work. I started doing some research as to why it stopped and came across some information that it is the most dangerous of the medications for irritable bowel syndrome. I read an article that said there was a possible recall in April of 2016. Apparently the doctors are not really researching this medication.
