For Depression "Was switched to Trintellix from Citalopram as it interfered with an antibiotic I needed. I have been on it for 3 weeks now. Absolutely horrible! I have never felt this crazy. I feel like I am losing my mind. Constant panic attacks, sensitivity to even the slightest sounds, lightheadedness/dizziness, nausea, suicidal ideations, difficulty breathing. I am suffering from severe mood swings. I stopped taking it tonight. Just can't do it anymore. I'd rather have nothing than this."

For Depression "I am a 46-year-old female with generalized anxiety disorder and depression. I tried Zoloft because it helped three of my family members. Zoloft made me miserable! I ended up in the psych ward with severe anxiety, depression, and nausea. My doctor took me off of Zoloft and put me on 10 mg of Trintellix, and I noticed a change pretty quickly. He also had me on 0.5 mg of Klonopin twice a day. My nausea virtually disappeared, and my anxiety/depression improved significantly. I had some lightheadedness and itchiness on and off, but eventually, that subsided. I've reduced my Klonopin to one pill a day. I'm still going to therapy and trying to exercise and read my Bible, which helps, but the medication has been a godsend so far. I highly recommend it. The only thing is it is expensive."

For Depression "I've tried so many antidepressants but this one has been the best. I was on 10mg for a month and just had my dosage increased to 20 mg, two days ago. I do feel sick, nausea and a little disoriented but those are bearable side effects to me. I have had energy, better concentration but the biggest thing I love about this antidepressant is that I have my sex drive back. My libido wasn't affected like it has been in the past with other meds, I've actually had increased sex drive. So far I feel 'okay' but hopefully since 20mg is the therapeutic dose, that I feel more 'content' or 'happy' with my life soon."

For Depression "I was on Lexapro for about 2 years until it stopped working. Prior to that, over the last 25 years, I was always on an antidepressant. You name it, I've tried it. What the antidepressants did for me was just take away the severe irritability that I had. I was really at a low point when my doctor asked me to try Trintellix. I had no desire to do anything. I felt no joy. I had been taking 40 mg of Lexapro a day. Doc said I didn't have to wean off it. He said I could just switch, starting the next day, and I did. I started on 5mg for the first 2 wks then increased to 10mg. It's only been 4 wks that I have been on it and my nausea has gotten better. I have a clarity in thinking that I didn't have before. I feel joy now. I am staying on it. Also, no sexual problems on it. Got hope!"

For Depression "Updating my review as I have now been taking Trintellix 10mg for 5 weeks. Feeling great, no nausea unless I drink a glass of wine. I was taking it in the morning but it was making me very sleepy early in the evenings. Now I take it at about 2:30 pm and that is working great for me. It has regulated my sleep so that in itself has changed my life! It has really helped me with my severe social anxiety, and my low feeling is beginning to lift. I have no feeling of being medicated at all. My insurance is covering it thanks to my doctor and his prior approval letter showing other meds did not work for me. My copay is $60, and there is a savings card with Trintellix on their website that brought my cost down to $10."

For Depression "I have been using this medication for over a month. I find the side effect of nausea to be very minimal and was gone in about 10 days. My mood is positive and stable. However, I find my focus and concentration to be markedly improved. This medication does what it claims to do. Much better than the others and lower side effects."

For Depression "I went into a mild depression but a major anxiety situation. I started Trintellix 6 days ago. Today I feel the best. I found myself happy and chatting with everyone I saw. I had slight nausea the first 4 days. I took it in the morning with a banana, and it was fine. I kept a little something in my stomach the first 3 days. I did have trouble sleeping but took half a Benadryl, and it helped. I’m feeling good today. I’m hopeful it will work for me. My doctor said I can come off of it in 90 days. It’s just to build up my serotonin levels. He only suggested 5 mg. Try to stay with it if you have no major side effects."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Prescribed 10 mg a day of Trintellix for depression, and the first 10 days I was sick to my stomach and itching, so I take an antihistamine at the same time at bedtime. Day 11 started feeling markedly better, nausea was gone, still itching, but less. Day 14 my overall feeling was 50 percent better than when I started the drug. Today, day 16 saw my doctor again. I had lost weight, my overall anxiety is much better, the depression 70 percent better. All my aches and pains have disappeared. The doctor gave me 2 months of samples and told me to come back in a month if I thought I needed to, otherwise continue as directed. I've been on multiple antidepressants over the years, none worked even half as well as the Trintellix"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I had been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and have been treated with medicines that, at that time, were the best. Venlafaxine being the latest. However, the effects were decreasing over time. After 12 years and having so many side effects, now I am on Trintellix 20mg daily...wow, there is life. My mood is elevated, my outlook, self-esteem, and confidence have returned to normal. My energy level has skyrocketed. My sleep is more restful. Negative thoughts are diminished. Day-to-day living is now controllable. Clear thought process, not a drugged feeling. I am a very content person. Focus on the enabling versus the negativity. Started on 10mg daily, increased to 20mg after 3 weeks, and a slow reduction in my venlafaxine. One side effect is nausea I noted, but a dry snack helps."

For Depression "I have suffered for about 10 years with depression and anxiety. Never suicidal, but I have just always felt like the world was passing me by. So my doctor prescribed Wellbutrin XL 300 mg about 2 years ago and the first 6 months worked just ok. I think it really disrupted my sleep patterns and stopped working completely on taking the edge off the depressed feeling a few months ago. I gained 30 lbs in one year on Wellbutrin, which made me more depressed. A week ago, my doctor prescribed Trintellix 10mg. The first day I felt a little nauseous, but it quickly subsided after an hour or so. I didn’t realize what a funk I had been in until the Trintellix. I do not feel medicated at all. The fog is lifting, I feel so clear and normal. From the 2nd day I have felt like I am sleeping like a normal person and am able to get up early and get going with my day, clearly. I am hoping my insurance will cover this, my doctor has assured me he will get me approved and will keep me in samples until then."

For Depression "I have been on Trintellix for about 3 weeks now. So far I've noticed increased energy, weight loss, nausea, headaches, loss of sleep, nightmares, and some aggression. I have finally found one that works and I'm having all these side effects. I started out on the 10mg and still currently taking the 10mg. Maybe I need to be on a lower dose. I also take Ambien 10mg for sleep."

For Depression "Day 4. I have already noticed changes. Pros: - no desire to cry - clear-headed thought process - no mood swings/feel balanced (have not had any mood swings since day 2. I usually had them like 4x within an hour) - no angry outbursts or negative/hurtful comments towards people - decrease in paranoia - no longer feeling personally attacked by others Cons: - trouble sleeping - teensy bit jittery - itchy (not much) - definitely nauseous - trouble passing stool but not constipated - slight lightheadedness/dizziness. This is only day 4 going on 5 so I am thinking my brain & body need time to adjust & balance out. So far I feel mentally so much better. In control, I would say. Only odd thing I noticed was random laughing. But hey, I'm not complaining!"

For Depression "Tried Zoloft, Wellbutrin, and Lexapro. Trintellix has been GREAT for me. First six weeks on 10 were 'eh,' like not a big difference, but when I increased to 20mg, it was night and day. I’m happy when I am awake. I have energy. Absolutely amazing results. The nausea is HORRIBLE, but if you can get through it, the results are worth it. I took Zofran for the nausea, and it worked. It’s only been 3 weeks since my increase, but it’s been great! Good luck and keep trying!"

For Depression "I have tried over 20 different medications, and Trintellix is the best fit for me. I always describe its effect for me as 'being able to turn everything down in my head.' I can see how this might not be a good fit for others as it might certainly aggravate 'feeling nothing' or 'feeling detached.' However, as my issue is primarily that I feel TOO much and am unable to step back from my emotions and intrusive, racing thoughts, Trintellix's 'detachment' is extremely helpful for me. I do get nausea for the first week upon taking Trintellix or upping my dosage; however, this subsides for me. I was on 10mg for 8 months and have now increased my dosage to 20mg in hopes of it being even more effective."

For Depression "Update after 13 weeks: I started Trintellix for MDD, anxiety, and OCD. The first 2-3 weeks showed really fast improvement with my energy and motivation, but after 5-6 weeks, I had a severe headache and cold chills. I took a break for 2-3 days and started again. Motivation returned, but I still felt 'not myself.' I couldn't sleep with 10 mg, it's really activating, and my blood pressure went high, so I had to cut back to 5 mg. It seems to be okay now: no nausea, less brain fog, and better cognition."

For Depression "I have been on Trintellix for a little over a year. I took moclobemide prior for about a year with great success, but moclobemide interacted with way too many medications and I could not even take cough syrup! So I decided to give Trintellix a try. I will never look back. I've never felt better in my life! I do not feel numb to feelings. No brain fog at all. I can think quickly again and communicate better (I felt muted on other antidepressants, except moclobemide) just like before my depression started. My memory has greatly improved. I enjoy life again! I do sometimes have nausea. I do get a burst of energy halfway through the day. No effects on sex drive at all!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have noticed positive improvements in my mood and fatigue since switching from Effexor to Trintellix. I’m not terribly flatlined in my emotions (like with Effexor), but there are other side effects I’ve experienced. Nausea is a consistent side effect of Trintellix, and I typically get it about 20 minutes after taking my meds, and then it fades after a while. Also, I’ve noticed appetite-suppressing effects, which I’m not upset about since I gained considerable weight on my last medication. Overall, I’m satisfied with Trintellix and would recommend it to someone who hasn’t done well on other antidepressants."

For Depression "I started taking 10mg and have been on it for 3 months. Other than being sick to my stomach, it was the only side effect I had. I then started taking it at night so that I could sleep through it, and it worked. The crying, lack of motivation, isolating myself, and just letting the world go by, as well as fits of anger and yelling, stopped (my son was happy with that). Sadly, I lost my insurance and cannot afford to pay the $300 plus a month for this medicine. I have been off it for 2 weeks now, and I am right back at square one with crying and all that goes along with it. Some days I feel like I just want to give up."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have tried a few anti-depressants over the years since my 20s, like Celexa, Cymbalta, Lexapro (not good for me), Wellbutrin (not good for me in combination with Cymbalta), and now, Trintellix. I did the genetic testing after my experience on Trintellix and found that I have a genetic expression where my brain does not utilize serotonin very well due to fewer receptor sites (SSRIs are not good for me—it's the SLC6A4 gene if you are curious). Trintellix has a very high effect on serotonin receptor sites, so I did not do well on it at all. I had racing/hypo-manic thoughts, itching, higher appetite with food and sex, tinnitus, loose stools, insomnia, nausea, and very high energy. I would highly recommend doing the genetic test through your PCP or psychiatrist/nurse practitioner to determine your specific needs due to your specific genetics. Not every medication will work for everyone, and reviews can only tell us so much."

For Depression "I have a history of situational depression spanning 25 years. After a breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, and a death in the family, I found that my 300 mg of Wellbutrin was not helping as much as it used to. I added Trintellix, and wow... it's a new game. The first few weeks I dealt with side effects like nausea and constipation and didn't feel much different. But after it built up, I feel so good!!! Happier, patient with my kids, less of the obsessive thoughts and general sadness. I can't fully explain it, but I just feel better, more upbeat and positive, and better able to handle what is going on. I take it at night right before bed because it does make me nauseous and made me vomit twice in two months. I also bruise easily and have started taking Senna to help the constipation side effect, which I am having. Trintellix is expensive, but the Takeda savings card takes it to $75/month for me, which is, in my opinion, worth it. I feel like a very happy version of myself, and thank goodness for that."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Best (and most expensive) medication I've ever been on. I've been prescribed every other SSRI, and they gave me side effects of sleepiness and indifference. I have only experienced slight nausea for about 2 hours, 15 minutes after I take my Trintellix. This only lasted the first two weeks. The nausea is the only reason I give this a 9/10. Anxiety and paranoia have been greatly reduced, energy is amazing, and no sleepiness or indifference. I had genetic testing done, and I am deficient in folic acid and don't produce it on my own. I complement the Trintellix with methylfolate by Biotics Lab (Deplin is expensive). I'm happier than I've ever been, and no sexual dysfunctions have happened, so I am extremely thankful for this medication."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been taking this med for about a month. I am taking it with Wellbutrin 300 mg. I am taking 5 mg. It has helped tremendously. The first day I took it, I was nauseous & had a headache. I have been taking it at night, about an hour before bedtime, and have not had either symptom again. My energy level has increased. I have been able to do things I need to do, more importantly I have been able to do some of the things I want to do. The feeling that life was too overwhelming is gone. I have my sense of humor back and I am not on the roller coaster of crying at the drop of a hat or being so angry I wanted to smack the skin off someone's face. I am very pleased with this medicine & hope it continues to do as well as it has been doing for me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "First, I want to start by saying that a majority of the negative reviews are from people coming off a previous antidepressant and starting Trintellix. The 'side effects' you may think are from Trintellix could be withdrawal from your previous antidepressant! I've gone through this six times with switching from one to another, and the withdrawals from the previous medication kick in normally by day three and can last weeks or months depending on the med you're switching off from. With that being said, if possible, always try to give the new med at least a full three months to adjust, and the withdrawals from the previous med should have subsided. I'm not saying some of the side effects aren't from Trintellix, but the majority of the major side effects people feel are withdrawal symptoms. If you stayed reading this long, onto the review. I'm coming off Prozac onto Trintellix. Slight nausea, but nothing major. Take with food. Helps keep the sadness away. Works for me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This medication is a game changer. I've been on 20 mg once per day (at night works best for me) for about 5 months. It is by far the best medication I have tried. Initially started on 10 mg, and raised my dose 2 months in. Pros: Overall heightened mood, more energy, ability to feel array of emotions, no sexual dysfunction (many antidepressants are famous for causing this), increases ability to enjoy activities I used to love. Neutral: does not treat my anxiety very well alone. Cons: nausea when starting the medication and increasing dose, more expensive than traditional antidepressants. Overall, I love this medication. I will definitely continue on it. I have seen a big improvement since trying Trintellix."
