For Depression "Took 10 mg samples in the AM, nausea and dizziness were a big problem on the 3rd and 4th day. I stopped for 2 days. Then took half a pill in the evening around 8 PM. Had a little nausea, my sleep was affected but I'm adjusting. However, I believe it is what I need. I left the house 3 times on the weekend, answered my phone, went into 6 stores, and most importantly, while at home, didn't lay in bed."

For Depression "Was switched to Trintellix from Citalopram as it interfered with an antibiotic I needed. I have been on it for 3 weeks now. Absolutely horrible! I have never felt this crazy. I feel like I am losing my mind. Constant panic attacks, sensitivity to even the slightest sounds, lightheadedness/dizziness, nausea, suicidal ideations, difficulty breathing. I am suffering from severe mood swings. I stopped taking it tonight. Just can't do it anymore. I'd rather have nothing than this."

For Depression "I have been on Trintellix 10 mg and increased to 20 mg on 02/19/2014. I have experienced dry mouth, dizziness, forgetfulness, no desire to eat, weight loss of 11 lbs in 10 days, which is good considering I am overweight. This can't be a bad thing, and wake up often. However, I am in a happier mood and not so stressed out. I have been on Trintellix for a total of 11 days. Hope the yucky side effects go away soon. I have tried almost everything else and nothing has worked mood-wise for me as good as this is."

For Depression "Day 4. I have already noticed changes. Pros: - no desire to cry - clear-headed thought process - no mood swings/feel balanced (have not had any mood swings since day 2. I usually had them like 4x within an hour) - no angry outbursts or negative/hurtful comments towards people - decrease in paranoia - no longer feeling personally attacked by others Cons: - trouble sleeping - teensy bit jittery - itchy (not much) - definitely nauseous - trouble passing stool but not constipated - slight lightheadedness/dizziness. This is only day 4 going on 5 so I am thinking my brain & body need time to adjust & balance out. So far I feel mentally so much better. In control, I would say. Only odd thing I noticed was random laughing. But hey, I'm not complaining!"

For Depression "Only been on it for a week and a half so far. The first few days caused dizziness and a bout of nausea about an hour after taking it with food. I don't get nauseous taking it anymore. I still get dizzy every now and then but they're less intense now. I can already tell a difference in my mood. I'm excited to see my future progress."

For Depression "I was on venlor for 6 months and couldn't take the nausea and dizziness. It messed with my blood sugar and cholesterol. I changed to Trintellix, 6 months now, and I'm feeling awesome. Life is back to normal and I'm much better now. No side effects."

For Major Depressive Disorder "It was very difficult titrating up to 20 mg of Trintellix. I started at 5 mg one week, 10 mg the next week, 15 mg the following week until I reached 20 mg. The nausea, vomiting, and dizziness were almost unbearable, I missed 2 days each week for a month while starting it. Thankfully I was on FMLA and was able to muscle through it. I have been through almost every SSRI, SNRI, etc., and nothing but electroconvulsive therapy worked for me. After the first week on Trintellix, I felt happy for the first time, actually happy, which is why I muscled through the side effects. I have been on it for a year now, and it is a miracle pill. Make it through the first month, and all side effects go away."

For Depression "I'm still in the process of acclimating to Trintellix while weaning off of Paxil. However, I must say that my anxiety and depression seem to be much better, and my hunger (caused by Paxil) has reduced. One of the major side effects of Trintellix is nausea. So, instead of starting on a 5 mg dosage, I cut the 5 mg in half and took that for three days since I am very sensitive to medications. Today is my first day on the 5 mg dosage and I have not experienced any nausea. The only side effects that I have felt so far are a bit of heartburn/indigestion, mild sleepiness, and mild dizziness, which certainly haven't kept me from doing my day-to-day routine. People should at least give this medicine a chance."

For Depression "I switched from Zoloft due to fogginess at higher doses. As others have mentioned, the nausea and dizziness were definitely difficult for me when I first started Trintellix. At the same time, I could tell this was working for my depression. I was so grateful for the antidepressant effects. I cut back from 10 mg to 5 mg (half a pill) for a couple of weeks, and the nausea began to subside. I went back up to 10 mg, and now nausea is only an occasional problem. My doc said to make sure to take it with food, which I do in the morning. I know others take it at night. The nausea was indeed difficult, but I am so glad I stuck with it. For me, it is a very effective antidepressant."

For Major Depressive Disorder "The first day I took my 5 mg dose, I began to experience minor bouts of dizziness every so often and a decrease in appetite, but figured I was just getting used to it and decided I'd wait it out to see if it improved. In just 3 days, I became severely dizzy, nauseated, and could no longer keep food down. I was disoriented and overwhelmed with an unusual feeling. I was basically unable to function and had to immediately stop the pills. Since then, my mood has tanked, and I've become irritable and aggressive and have had unusual and impulsive urges. I've never experienced anything quite like it and have seen a lot of other similar experiences. If you start this medicine, please inform yourself of the symptoms of serotonin syndrome! While it has done badly for me, some people are doing very well on this medication, so I can't in good conscience tell people not to try it. I wanted to share my personal experience and hope it informs people!"

For Depression "I've been taking 10mg for 4 days now (today will be day 5) and I'm wondering if I can make it a full week like my doctor wants me to. The side effects have been horrible for me. I've been walking around like a nauseous zombie since day 1. Then there's the dizziness and headache that goes along with it. The only benefit I've experienced so far is weight loss, but that's not at all why I started taking this medication. Instead of the anxiety and depression I would normally feel, I feel no emotions."

For Depression "Worst experience ever! The doctor says to push through nausea... yeah, not happening! Vomiting violently 20-30 mins after taking one 5 mg pill! Nausea, dizziness, and many other symptoms worsened throughout the week. On day 6 and giving up now. Never have I been so violently sick (vomit) in my whole life! I would NOT recommend it to anyone!"

For Depression "On Brintellix 10 mg for a week. Had to stop taking it due to severe side effects including upset stomach, dizziness, head rushes, increased mood swings, and suicidal thoughts. Really threw me for a loop. Went back to Cymbalta, which at least keeps me on an even keel with no side effects."

For Depression "Male, age 50, in good shape. I was prescribed this stuff for what I call 'brain fog,' which I was experiencing three to four times per month and lasted a minimum of 24 hours. Also for attention span, which has been limited as of late. I am on 20 mg once a day and graduated up from 5 mg a day over 5 weeks. The first week I experienced some very slight dizziness and slight nausea. Nothing that I would describe as trying or difficult. At about week 3, I started to notice an increase in attention span. After 2 months, I have not had one brain fog episode. I have not noticed a change in mood, though I was not/am not depressed. I will say I am having some of the best orgasms of my life - and I have been on Wellbutrin, which does not compare!"

For Depression "Four weeks in and starting to feel like my old self. I was prescribed Trintellix after being diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder, which was feeding into some new depression-like feelings I have never experienced before. I had trouble sleeping the first two weeks, but I contribute that mainly to my already existing anxiety and stress. Besides that, I have not experienced any side effects as of yet, knock on wood. No nausea, no itching, no dizziness. My energy levels are definitely increased, and I can now focus more clearly on my current tasks. I am no longer completely fixated on ruminating negative thoughts. I am feeling optimistic, and I hope this is a sign of good things to come. I am currently on 10 mg after being on 5 mg for the first 7 days. I wanted to leave a review after I spent a lot of time reading some myself before starting the medication, and it was a lot to take in. I know it is different for everyone, so keep that in mind. Stay strong, everyone."

For Depression "I have had depression for the last 28 years. I have tried several medications that have worked for a while but stopped working over time. I had been taking Lexapro that worked for a while, and then my doctor changed me to taking Trintellix. I have been taking it for about 3 months, and I became suicidal and had a suicide attempt. Thankfully, I called 911! I have been having headaches, insomnia, nausea, feeling numb, dizzy, weight gain, itchy rash all over my body, foggy brain… I wish I had known about this site before I decided to take this medication. I would not have taken it. Please beware!!"

"I took Trintellix years ago for anxiety and panic disorder, but weaned off in 2019. I have a lot of general stressors that cause a lot of physical symptoms of anxiety - strange pains, muscle tension, dizziness, and heart palpitations being the most severe. Trintellix worked great to mellow me out, and I have recently decided to restart Trintellix because the physical symptoms are creeping back in, making it difficult to live a normal day-to-day life. With just my first dose, I got the best sleep I’ve had in months. My heart rate today is already lower. I know it will take weeks to feel the full effects, which I very much look forward to. When I took it years ago, it just melted the tension away to a point where I was able to function and no longer experience panic. I’ve tried several other medications that have left me with more severe anxiety, no emotion, or no effect at all. Trintellix is like a wonder drug for me in managing anxiety!"

For Depression "I have been on this med for just about a week and have not felt this sick in my entire life. I am having hot flashes, nausea, light-headedness, balance issues, chills, dizziness, can't focus-my body is even twitching in weird places. Every second of the day, I feel like I am about to vomit. I went onto this medicine because I had been on Paxil for several years, but wanted to try something that is supposed to have fewer sexual side effects. I know there is an adjustment period for all medications, but this one is too severe for it to be worth it."

For Depression "It makes me horribly nauseated and dizzy, so I switched to taking it at night. However, I gained 20 pounds in 3 months and have lost all motivation. I'm currently weaning off of it. I am coming out of the fog."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I had been on Zoloft for 10 years, paired with Pristiq for the last 4 years. For a while, that combination worked, but I began feeling trapped in my head. That caused me to go off my meds 4 times. I began throwing up the Zoloft. My doctor gave me this and advised 10 mg for a month and then placed me on 20 mg. Two weeks for it to kick in, and I found I wasn't as panicked when I received a call about an aging parent (I'm the caretaker for my parents, and it's taken its toll on me). My quality of life improved very much. It's superior to the Zoloft. No trapped feelings; a couple of dizzy spells wore off in time. Presently on 20 mg and wish it were more. Nice to feel competent again. Must take in the a.m. to avoid sleeplessness."

"Trintellix helped with my panic disorder, but now I’m trying to get off of it because of side effects. First of all, this stuff will kill your libido, you will have no sex drive, no feeling in your sex organs, and you might as well join a convent. Second is alcohol. If you’re young and single and like an occasional drink, do not go on this drug. I had a half a glass of beer, and it made me so dizzy I had to go home, and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. So no sex, no alcohol. Now I’m trying to get off this drug (so that maybe I can have a social life again), and the withdrawal symptoms are horrendous. I wish my doctor never gave me this stuff in the first place."

For Depression "I was on Zoloft at various doses up to 200 mg for 5 years before I decided to wean off and go to nothing. Horrible withdrawal. After 6 months of being on nothing, I tried Trintellix. The first few weeks or so, I felt constantly anxious and no mood increase/decrease. After the 3rd week, I felt a lift in mood, and I had a few instances where I couldn't stop smiling, and I would go back to my old neutral/depressive state. I am about to go up to 20 mg starting tomorrow because my OCD and anxiety are still there (though less), but as of now, I can say that I feel a lot better mentally as far as mood and depression goes. I guess I am the lucky one as this causes almost no side effects as far as nausea and stomach cramps, other than constipation and a bit of dizziness/shaking and tremors the first few weeks, which are currently weaning away. I highly suggest you try this despite the horrible stomach side effects people are reporting as I have had hardly any, and it just depends on the person."

For Depression "Using Trintellix for 2.5 months and I feel transformed. It breaks my heart to see how difficult these medications are for those on this blog. I've always been a half-empty person. Go figure. I've done OK with my career and my relationships. But every day felt like a battlefield, another day of struggle and woe. I went to my doctor and asked for a dopamine booster. Trintellix is what she prescribed. I had a sense a dopamine booster would help since I like drinking and alcohol stimulates the production of dopamine. As does weed. Now with Trintellix, I don't need either of those, and my passion and energy for living have returned, something that I thought was long gone (I'm 65). My only side effects have been a little dizziness, but temporary."
