For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been on almost all medicines out there. So far, I've been on Rinvoq a month. I'm always skeptical about drugs working since I've been trying them for 39 years. Rinvoq says it can start to work 2 weeks to 6 months. I have noticed little things like an easier time standing up and not as stiff when I wake up. The last 3 days, I've been having more pain and stiffness. As far as side effects, I've had a cough, hoarseness, and muscle cramping. Recently, extreme bruising, I woke up with bruises all over my hands, palms, back, fingers, all over my legs and forearms. None of these side effects will cause me to quit the medicine. All pretty mild compared to the effects of other meds."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been on RINVOQ for about a year and a half. It was working great for the pain and stiffness, and then I started getting short of breath and a cough. It wasn’t too bad at first, but it has progressively gotten so bad that I cough all day, and the least little thing I do, I’m short of breath. I have stopped taking the medication, but I have still not improved. Does anyone know how long it takes for this medication to leave your system?"

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have had RA for 3 years, nothing worked except Rinvoq. I was almost normal, almost no pain, and could do normal activities. I am a 61-year-old woman. I have always had a cough, but it worsened with Rinvoq, but I continued with the drug. Went for a routine lung test, and they found fatty tissue on my lungs, did more X-rays and CT scans. Now they have found that my lymph nodes are abnormal, going for a biopsy next week. Seems this could be a side effect of Rinvoq, now I am scared."

For Atopic Dermatitis "I had uncontrollable itching and tried all sorts of things to help and was finally prescribed Rinvoq. With no insurance, I was able to sign up for a free Rx. Rinvoq gave me my life back. The itching was gone!!! Then I started seeing the side effects of shortness of breath, my legs breaking out in what appeared to be massive acne, and I am getting headaches and a slight cough. I have taken it for 3 months and a little of the itching has come back, I am definitely looking for an alternative."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was on methotrexate for many years, but I was getting tired of the nausea and losing my hair. So I was changed to many other medications that did not work. I was afraid I had to go back to methotrexate, but fortunately, Rinvoq started working within the first week. I have been on it for four months. I have had COVID three times within this period, slight headaches, and a cough every night and morning. I mentioned it to my doctor and said it’s not a common side effect, but that we can change medication. I am getting tired of the cough, but I don’t want to suffer with RA pain. Besides that, I am feeling really good, my hair is back, and I don’t get nauseous."

For Atopic Dermatitis "Surprised no one with severe atopic dermatitis commented on here yet. Have had severe eczema all my life and have tried many conventional (methotrexate, Myfortic, dupilumab) and unconventional treatments (diets, homeopathy) with little success. Only cyclosporine worked well for years but suddenly stopped working (and got me dangerously high creatinine levels for kidney failure, so had to stop). Now on Rinvoq for 6 months, initially once daily (30 mg), didn't work sufficiently, but after taking it twice daily, I'm now completely clear for 3 months. I'm very happy and relieved. Do need to say the side effects can be pretty intense (as other commenters have confirmed). I've had 2 herpes infections already, regularly nauseous, coughing, and colds are staying on for much longer, sometimes moody, but at this point, my eczema relief definitely outweighs the side effects. Researchers say it's the golden era for eczema research, so I'm bright and hopeful for the future."
