For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Starting week 9 with the second injection of 1 mg. I have lost 24 pounds in 8 weeks. The side effects happen about 3 - 4 days a week. The first weekend on 0.25 mg was the worst! I really thought I needed my last rites! I have had headaches, nausea, vomiting, and bowel issues but not like the first-week episode. I try to eat light the day of the shot and take it at night because it makes me tired. You have to stay positive and just buy meds that will help with side effects because the side effects will probably always happen a couple of days a week. Try to drink 1/2 gallon of water a day and stay away from red meat, fried food, fast food, (most) dairy and sugar. If you don't, you will feel sick from eating that stuff. Also only eating one cup of food every couple of hours has made a huge difference in the nausea. Stock up on SF ice pops and SF Gatorade. I am so grateful that I got Wegovy with my insurance and when I want to quit, I just remember how many people would love the opportunity."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Tomorrow I will take my 3rd shot of 0.5 mg (previously took 3 weeks of 0.25 mg but messed up one of the needles, so moved up after only 3 weeks at that amount). I have had very minimal side effects in the 5 weeks I've been on it (lost 9.5 pounds). The side effects I get are headaches if I don't drink enough water - WATER IS KEY - and nausea if I don't eat enough protein. Five small protein-based meals a day seem to do the trick. Have not suffered any of the other things people talk about. I've noticed my clothes are more loose fitting than a 9-pound weight loss would normally warrant. Everyone is different - and people tend to post complaints more than praises... so don't get too stressed assuming you'll have side effects. Most people don't. I'm glad I'm on this journey."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm 60 years old, started taking Wegovy for weight loss, high blood pressure, high cholesterol. I’ve been on the medication now for 10 weeks. My starting weight was 296. Currently, I weigh 266, and my numbers are great. The cons are I only feel good 4 days a week. The first 3 days after the injection are tough: nausea, headaches. But as far as I’m concerned, it works great. I’m not hungry at all. I feel much better. Another added bonus for me was I was a heavy drinker. On this medication, I have no desire to drink at all. For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Wegovy in March 2022 with a goal of losing 50-75 pounds. I ended up losing a total of 85 pounds in about 11 months. I felt great upon taking the Wegovy. Only had mild headaches and mild stomach discomfort. I was not tired, I actually felt energized. However, by December, the nausea had reared its ugly head. I took Zofran, and it helped. I was able to stick it out with the nausea until February, at which time I stopped taking it. I could no longer live with the nausea. Since I stopped taking it, I have continued to suffer nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. My doctor and I are still trying to find the source of this continuing issue. I love the weight loss, and I love Wegovy!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Wegovy was prescribed for weight loss, with a secondary potential benefit being a reduction in glucose levels and A1C. Began at minimal dose of 0.25 mg/0.5 ml. Had virtually no side effects. Also lost exactly 0 lbs. However, this first month included Thanksgiving, so a bonus that no weight was gained. Second month dose increased to 0.5 mg/0.5 ml. Side effects were primarily indigestion, some headaches, and very occasionally low blood pressure, but it included Christmas, so a positive was no gain. Month 3 increased dose to 1.0 mg/0.5 ml. In the first week at this dosage, can finally feel the appetite suppression. Side effects have included indigestion, burping, headache, and a bit of feeling sluggish. It has been very easy to administer the injections. I have been using the lower part of my stomach as the injection site, alternating from left to right side each week. So far, each injection has succeeded."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Beginning weight was 234 and began at 0.25 in June 2024, and just began 2.4 today at 177. Been going up very slowly, but weight loss has slowed way down. Still have 17 pounds to lose, but prefer 27 more. Have gone from 2XL/Size 22 to size 14. Have dealt with nausea, headaches, occasional constipation/diarrhea, depending on what I eat. Small meals, five times a day, plus drinking lots of water is key. I get extremely tired the day or two after taking the shot. Every time I ate something other than toast or crackers, I had major cramping, plus a mild headache all week. This was a horrible experience. The pain felt like a gallbladder attack. Never again."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I wanted to warn people of the side effects, as my doctor did not prepare me for this med. I am very glad I didn't try to work, otherwise, I would have lost my job or, at the very least, been written up for various reasons. On it for a month. I tried spacing out the second shot and never ended up taking the last injection. Side effects: severe fatigue, severe hair loss, decreased hormones, severe headaches, changes in your sleep architecture, bad nightmares for all sleep, naps, and overnight. Warning: if you have PTSD, that may mess with you. Bladder urgency and UTI symptoms started on day 3 and were constant the whole time on the med, I had to take AZO. Bloating, burping, throwing up, and all food smells make you sick, severe constipation, hypoglycemia, and increased binge eating. I also had increased topical psoriasis and arthritis pain. Started having problems with my foot and wondering if it's impacting ligaments. I am getting that checked out. Did not reduce the need to eat, no weight loss."

In the second week, I started feeling the side effects of nausea, burping, gas, diarrhea, and bloating. I noticed that I did eat more. Make sure your portions are small and stick to fruit and vegetables. Soups and not greasy processed foods. You may feel sick and will take longer to digest. I am currently reconsidering if I should continue. I am not sure if I want to experience the side effects at a higher dose. I feel terrible all the time and have a headache. For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am in week 10/injection 2 of 1 mg and taking Wegovy for weight loss. I started at 142 kg and am down to 132 kg, which is wonderful. My goal weight is 115 kg as I'm tall and solid build. The side effects, nausea, fatigue, headaches, and some bowel upsets tend to dissipate 3 days after the injection. Avoid big meals and heavy/fatty foods in particular to minimize side effects. Not enjoying food and the social side can be a bit tough, but the results far outweigh any downsides. You actually save money overall due to eating less. I intend to stay the course and highly recommend this life-changing experience."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am on my 3rd injection today of Wegovy. Started at 234.5 pounds. Down 8 so far. I'm not sure it's all Wegovy, as I've been able to lose 40 lbs on my own 2 separate times, and I am still doing the things that gave me that success before. Eating close to 1200 a day calories, walking 10,000 steps a day, and lowering alcohol consumption. Still, I do believe it is helping me get a good start and get my mind right. The fear of the side effects is what is probably keeping me in line. So far though, I've only had headaches and fatigue a day or so after the shots. Otherwise, no other side effects, so I am pleased so far with how things are going."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 58, have IBS-D, no gallbladder, GERD, and am 60 lbs overweight. This is my second attempt at taking Wegovy. The first attempt was disastrous! I didn't make it through the first week before I was hit with diarrhea, nausea, acid reflux, dizziness, cramps, and had headaches. I missed four days of work and went to ER twice. The doctor did tell me to stop taking this, but I honestly did not think it was the Wegovy (I had not done any research on side effects). Once I got back to my normal state of digestive issues, I became proactive. I started back on Wegovy (.25 lowest dose) 6 weeks ago, but now I take a dose of Pepto-Bismol daily (twice a day the day of and day after the shot) and I take an OTC daily antacid. I still get mild side effects (nausea, headache, and fatigue) the day after the shot or if I overeat. I have not lost any weight at this dose so I am going up to the .5 dose next week. As others have said - everyone will react to this med differently."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Wegovy February 28, 2022, at 257 pounds. July 28, 2022, at 205 pounds on the 2.4 ml dose. Side effects at low dose were headaches, stiffness, fatigue, indigestion. 2.4 dose caused extreme gas. Sometimes I stayed an extra month on a dose because of side effects, but you get used to them. Sometimes side effects come the next day or 5 days later. Completely stopped drinking alcohol because it makes me very sick while taking Wegovy."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "First dose 0.25mg, had slight stomach pain/discomfort. Later that same night, my appetite disappeared. Just seeing a fast-food commercial on TV made me feel nauseous. I thought if that's the worst of the side effects that affect me, then I'll be very happy with that. By the next day, stomach pain and nausea increased. By 4:00 am, BAM! Diarrhea, severe stomach pain, projectile vomiting, headache, chest pain, severe itching mainly on the palms of my hands and arms. I truly thought 'this must be what it feels like to be poisoned!' I was scared. It is now the next day and I feel fine. A little tired from lack of sleep from feeling so sick. I think I will do my second dose next week...but I'm quite nervous of a repeat of feeling like I was dying from the stomach pains and vomiting. Will I continue with this drug?...jury is still out! On the positive side, I've already lost 5 pounds; but of course, I can't & don't want to eat, too much nausea and vomiting."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started on Wegovy in December 2021. In the beginning, it made me sick to my stomach. I had the belching and very little appetite. When I got to 0.50 mg, oh my God! I could hardly eat anything for a couple of days. I was scared to go to the next level, but I did. When I was on the 1 mg dose, I didn't have any issues. Once I got to 1.7 mg, it wasn't bad either- a little belching, headaches for a couple of days, upset stomach, and constipation kicked in. Getting ready to start the maintenance level of 2.4 mg, and let's pray I tolerate it well. So far, I have only lost about 27 lbs, trying to lose about 17 more to get to my ideal weight. For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am about 6 months in, and at 2.4 per week, I have lost 17 lbs. It does work to curb your appetite, but I always feel sick. I have noticed I have developed severe migraines after week two, but kept going. I am currently on migraine medication, Ajovy, and it is not helping. Sometimes, it comes with blurred vision, which gets a bit better once it gets closer to taking it again. I have gone to the ER three times over 6 months with severe headaches, but nothing helps. It has really impacted my way of life, and I do feel like a worse wife and mother because I am always sick and have a constant headache that never, ever goes away. I gave it a go, but at this point, the cons outweigh the pros for me. I did stop Wegovy two weeks ago and noticed an improvement in my headaches and my menstrual cycle. Headaches basically gone, why didn't I stop sooner?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve been on Wegovy (Ozempic) for 10 weeks, first at 0.25 mg and now on 0.5 mg. I have not lost any weight (but not gained any). It has not curbed my appetite, and I still crave sweet stuff. I have had a few side effects, but the worst is constipation, and I have not had a normal poo since I started. I also have a headache, get dizzy if I stand up quickly, and my hair is falling out somewhat. I eat high fiber and take psyllium husk, and still no poo in a week sometimes. I would stay on it at higher doses, but the cost of £155 per month is not worth it if no effect so far. Disappointed because so many have a good result with this medication."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started on Ozempic 12 weeks ago in Jan 2022, which is the same as Wegovy in a lower dosage. I spent 4 weeks on the 0.25 dosage, losing 2 lbs. Moved up to the 0.5 dosage for 4 weeks, losing another 2 lbs, moved up to the 1 dosage for 4 weeks, and lost an additional 3 lbs. I just took my first dose of Wegovy at the 1.7 dosage, and wow can I tell a difference. I won’t lie, I have experienced a few side effects, such as constipation, some abdominal pain, nausea, headache, and diarrhea, but all have been mostly mild and very tolerable. Nothing that can’t be helped with eating a little less. The key to managing all of it is learning how to eat properly with the right portion sizes. Only eat until you are satisfied rather than full. For me, it is well worth dealing with mild side effects in order to achieve a healthy lifestyle!"

I have also suffered from daily headaches from this medication. I have also noticed my blood pressure fluctuates higher than my normal high. The side effects are a pure nightmare! But as I got to 0.5 ml, they taper off. I carry Tylenol for the headaches, and my gastroenterologist prescribed Carafate for indigestion, Pepto-Bismol works too. If you can hang in there for the first 2 months, you'll be good."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I began using Wegovy injectable semaglutide exactly 8 weeks ago today and have had very few symptoms, until the 7 1/2 week mark. At first, my nose ran continually, but that was somewhat manageable with Robitussin (recommended by the pharmacist) for the cough it caused. At dinnertime, at the 7 1/2 week mark, fatigue hit very hard. We were on a trip, and I could barely walk to get back to the hotel and fall in bed. This continued for 48 hours with no desire for food or drink, except ice water. I slept for 5 or 6 hours and awoke with a headache, which lasted the rest of the night. Strange because I do not get headaches. Thankfully, we were headed home at that point, and I slept in the car most of the day for two days. I am much improved and can function somewhat, but not back to normal yet. I am due to double my dose today, but the medication not available for a while due to high demand. Easy to use and have lost 10 lbs in 8 weeks."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "5'8" F started at 241 lbs. The doctor had me on phentermine (half dose) while waiting for Wegovy to go through insurance prior to authorization. Went down to 219 lbs on the phentermine in 11 weeks, then discontinued that to start Wegovy 0.25 mg. I just took my second injection, so I can describe my first week and shot experience. I had a mild headache for the first 24 hours after my first injection. Not bad enough to need an aspirin or anything, and I think I was overanalyzing my body looking for side effects. After the first injection, I thought I had a metallic taste in my mouth, and now that I just took a second, I can confirm it. Lasted for 12 hours the first time. I also am one of the rare people that taste metal after vaccines if that matters. I was extremely worried about the injection process itself. I'm glad I watched some YouTube videos and knew what to do. It was easy, and I didn't feel the needle. No cravings - I just have to space out my meals, or my stomach feels uncomfortable. Down another 3 lbs. Go Wegovy Wednesdays!"
