For Migraine "I was prescribed Nurtec in 2020. I was skeptical at first but decided to try it. My migraine was really bad, and I had a difficult time opening the packaging, especially being in that much pain. My migraine went away quickly, and I started to feel better. When my migraines quickly came on, I would take one. I am now on my third pack of 8 pills. Now when I take one, my stomach hurts really bad, almost like ulcer pain. I know it is the pill because as soon as I take it, within an hour, I now get a gnawing sensation in my stomach. It lasts all day long and even into the next day. Prilosec will calm it down. Now that I am now getting pains in my stomach, I am now getting diarrhea from Nurtec. I usually never have diarrhea. Now I am starting to question if this medication is safe for my stomach and what it is doing to the lining of my stomach. I will only take this medication now if the migraine won’t subside in a day or two."

For Migraine "I have been using Nurtec for 4 months to relieve my perimenopause hormone migraines. It worked amazingly on the migraines, but be warned. I have Ulcerative Colitis, and on day 3 after taking Nurtec, my colon would bleed. I started with loose stools, and by month 4, started bleeding. At first, I thought it was a flare-up and changed my maintenance drugs. It took 3 more months to realize that it could be the Nurtec. There is an abstract in the American Journal of Gastroenterology highlighting this possible problem with CGRP antagonists. Animal studies showed a strong link and that more studies need to be done. Patients like me need to be monitored closely, but my neurologist had no knowledge of this. So, with 4 months of spotty bleeding, I am now in a full-on flare-up that could have been halted earlier had anyone had knowledge of this possible rare side effect. So, I am warning you all. Use with caution if you have IBS or IBD."

For Migraine "The one dose of Nurtec was great until it wore off. Then I was left with paralysis on my left side, which included my leg, arm, and face. I could not roll over in bed or get out of bed without assistance. I could not walk unaided, let alone drive a car. I could not shower standing up. I had horrible pain all over, so I would sit in the shower letting the water wash over me to feel better until there was no more warm water. I had diarrhea and urinary incontinence. I wanted to sleep constantly. I could not think clearly or speak very well. I was not hungry and more. This went on for 3 months, I lost 40 pounds. My heart rate increased to 110 and has stayed around 100, even now 8 months later. I could not tolerate being outside in the heat. I cannot lift more than 20-25 pounds. I went to my PCP, she treated my symptoms. Poison control said there was nothing to counteract. Most of my symptoms have gone, but some remain. I never had most of these before. Horrible pill."

For Migraine "Do not recommend this medicine. I only wish I had known it had an artificial sweetener before taking it. It explains why my body reacted so violently. Sumatriptan works great to treat my migraines, but my new neurologist was looking for a preventative solution. Apparently, Nurtec can be used that way, but first we needed to see how I’d react. Both times I took it at the onset of a migraine. The first time, I went straight to bed and woke up the next morning feeling slightly hungover. But then, nausea, diarrhea, and a weird headache for two days. Thought I’d give it one more try. Didn’t touch the headache, and about 36 hours later, horrific rebound headache. I have been in bed all day. Do not wish this on anyone."

For Migraine "I’m on my third pack of this medication. I've used it at least 30 times. It works pretty fast-within an hour my migraine is gone. However, today for the first time, about 4 hours after taking the tablet, the migraine is gone, but I started experiencing really bad stomach cramps, diarrhea, and dizziness. I will wait it out and see. I hope this is just a coincidence since it was saving me from excruciating pain until now. The last migraine that I had went for 7 days straight, 24 hours, and sent me to the ER as I just couldn’t take the pain. Overall, I would rather have the cramps and stomach pain than my horrific migraine."

For Migraine "I started the Nurtec sample from my Dr. on Sunday. Sunday night started with nausea. Next day diarrhea, throat was tight, chest pains, difficulty swallowing, rash on my chest and neck, difficulty breathing, tongue was swollen. Had to go to the ER, they gave me Prednisone, Pepcid, Benadryl. Two days later still having throat issues and chest pain with some discomfort. So I would have to say this is not for me. Symptoms are getting better, but not 100% yet. How long does this last when you have a severe reaction?"

For Migraine Prevention "Less than 24 hrs, it gives me stomach issues and can’t be far from the bathroom. From overly soft stools to diarrhea. Not worth me continuing to take it when I am miserable with my stomach."

For Migraine "Within 20 minutes of taking Nurtec ODT, I had the nausea, which I had read about. I took some Zofran, but it didn’t even touch it. Then I had diarrhea and horrible stomach pain, as well as really intense reflux. It felt like I was swallowing fire, 17 hours and counting now. The worst part of this is my migraine isn’t even all the way gone! It is definitely diminished but not gone. I have never written a review on here, but this has been such an awful reaction I knew I had to. I will never take this again. Everyone is different, but for me, this has been a really terrible experience."
