For Progesterone Insufficiency "I am using this in my FET cycle for IVF. I am 4 weeks, 4 days pregnant. I was taking 2 vaginal inserts (100 mg) each per day, but after blood tests came back showing a very low progesterone level, my Dr. is having me take an additional 600 mg per day in pill form (200 mg, 3x per day). My Dr. warned me that I would be very tired and possibly dizzy. I have been on the pills for 3 days now and have noticed that my breasts are very tender and swollen, which they weren't before, and it does make me a little drowsy, but not bad, it's manageable. I go back on Tuesday to check my levels."

For Premature Labor "I began having preterm labor contractions at 20 weeks. After being discharged from the hospital, the contractions continued. I researched and saw that progesterone had helped some women maintain pregnancies, so I suggested this to my doctor and began taking it once a day. (Annoyed that I had to suggest it instead of my doctor, but that’s the medical establishment). I continued to have contractions for the next months and went to the hospital several more times, but since I wasn’t dilating or losing blood or fluids, I wasn’t in active labor. I did have my daughter at 32 weeks, but I credit progesterone for helping us make it that far. Despite being premature, she is healthy and catching up quickly! I would strongly recommend it for preterm labor contractions!"

For Progesterone Insufficiency "Just four times a year? I'll take it. I need this Rx because I am on an estrogen patch for severe menopause symptoms. My dose is intra-vaginally, 200 mg, every other night for 12 nights, every 3 months - so 4 times per year. I never forget it because I begin my regimen at the start of each season. This method of progesterone, by far, is the easiest method to tolerate for me. I won't use these hormones forever, but for right now, they help. The first few days, I get mild PMS symptoms - to be expected - then usually begin menstruating, which means it did its job. The PMS rises and falls with stress levels and other issues. I manage it by doubling my exercise routine, adding meditation; high-stress levels drive many PMS symptoms. I also switched to a Mediterranean diet a few years ago. I strongly recommend these things as they have a proven record of reducing PMS symptoms."

For Endometriosis "I read all the reviews prior to taking this medication. I was quite concerned with the side effects a lot of people were experiencing. I decided to give myself a week of taking the meds and then I would re-evaluate my decision. I was placed on this medication to help with symptoms of endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroid, and cysts, and to help reduce the inflammation in my uterus. I started taking (Errin .35) medication at dinnertime. The first three days, I did experience some pretty heavy fatigue, and on days four and five, I had some facial acne. I am now on day ten and don't have any side effects. I also weighed myself on day seven and had no weight change. My mood hasn't changed much from where I was before. I have not had a cycle yet as I am on week two. All in all, I am doing well on this medication. I will try to update you if anything changes in the future."

For Uterine Bleeding "I am 44 years old and taking AK2 generic for Prometrium for unusual uterine bleeding. The doctor put me on this to stop my irregular bleeding, but so far, after 4 days of taking it, I am still bleeding with some clots. I am supposed to take this for 12 days. He said my progesterone levels were really low, and the endometrium had built up too much in my uterus. The first time I took it, I got really dizzy and sleepy, so now I am taking it at night. I have had a bad headache on two different occasions and a fast heartbeat and definitely feel brain fog and can't think. This medicine is no fun. I had a normal cycle up until a month and a half ago, but a few months before that, I noticed a reduced cycle, so I am having low hormonal levels, I guess."

Prometrium (progesterone) for Premature Labor "Mild side effects such as fatigue and hunger, horrible headaches if not taken at all. Seems to work, however, for the price paid for the medication, seems like they could include an applicator like the ones they give with gels and OTC yeast meds, etc. It's not fun or very easy trying to shove pills in your VAGAY with your fingers every single time you must use this medication."

For Gender Dysphoria "My gender clinic doctor recommended that I take a progesterone-only based birth control pill to stop my period before and while I start testosterone. I’ve been on it for about a week, and I’ve had spontaneous bleeding even though I started the pill at the very end of my cycle. I’m also getting really tired during the day and having a hard time staying asleep at night."

For Endometrial Hyperplasia, Prophylaxis "I take this med because I use Vivelle estrogen patch and need progesterone every 3 months to prevent uterine lining buildup. I take 200 intravaginally, every other day for 12 days - 6 doses total - every 3 months. At first dose, I was slammed with drowsiness, lower back pain, hot flashes at night, restless sleep, and weakness in legs. I had cramps, but did not get a period. By the last dose, the side effects were better, but still, it was no picnic. It's a small price to pay, however, for being able to take Vivelle dot and get estrogen, and as far as I understand, the easiest way to take progesterone as I don't want a uterine implant."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "The neurologist wanted me to consult with a menopause expert to consider HRT. She declined. Estrogen hormone replacement therapy is contraindicated, as I have liver problems, migraines with aura (newer research busted that myth), and a family history of stroke. Nine months ago, I started having hot flashes every day around 2 PM for 3 hours. Intense long flashes, then chills, nausea, migraine attack. Brutal! Couldn’t work, couldn’t go out without a change of clothes and hair ties! New GYN started me on low-dose progesterone (Incassia). Unbelievable difference. Hot flashes are lesser, shorter, but vary in time."

For Progesterone Insufficiency "I was prescribed progesterone in early pregnancy due to insufficiency. I switched pharmacies and this p-2 progesterone pill was a new brand that I was switched to. Two hours after taking the first pill (vaginally, as directed), I had spotting. This spotting continued for three days while I was on this pill. One day I didn't take it until the late afternoon and all morning had no bleeding. Then, two hours after taking the pill, I started bleeding again. I was far enough along in my pregnancy that when I brought this up to my doctor, he said that I could safely stop taking it. Ever since I stopped taking this pill, the bleeding had since stopped too! I would not recommend this brand of progesterone."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "This medicine smells strongly chemical and made me bleed for weeks. I had to switch to Dr. Reddit’s brand. Would not recommend. 200mg I had to pay $100 out of my own money because my insurance had already paid for this one. But I really didn't like it so much, I paid for the Dr. Reddy’s."

For Amenorrhea "I’ve been taking this progesterone pill for nine days orally. The first few days were fine, just had a bit of nausea. Then around my 5th night, when I took it at night, about an hour and a half later, I had dizziness and felt like I was in another world. It feels like laughing gas. I also am noticing bloating and, on the next day, headaches. It also makes me have mood swings once the dizziness has left my body. It makes me very tired, and I sleep great. I’ve had these symptoms since then. No sign of bleeding since then and I am not sure if it will work for me. But it says if you have these symptoms, you will get results, so I’m hopeful."

For Premature Labor "After each injection, I would be exhausted the next day. I would have severe depression, which seemed to get worse with each injection. I'm only 25 weeks and have to continue taking it until I'm 34 weeks. We'll see if it helps me go full term."

For Female Infertility "Repeat miscarriages in first trimester. Given 200mg progesterone to take after ovulation until period to support pregnancy. Took it for one cycle and became suicidal, depressed, and no am not experiencing a period. I used to have irregular periods and then had regular periods for almost 3 years, during which I've had multiple losses. Now am back to being irregular after this progesterone treatment. I stopped taking it because of the suicidal ideations."

For Premature Labor "I'm taking this medication to prevent premature delivery. With every injection, I have gotten a debilitating migraine, not to mention soul-crushing depression. With no other options, I have to stay on the medication until I reach 32 weeks."

For Uterine Bleeding "Progesterone 5mg 2x per day... After 0.35 mg for 90 days did not stop my menses, and may have even caused a 90-day bleed, I stopped it. However, I was then put on this 5 mg two times a day and within three or four days the bleeding stopped. It did its job! So for that, I give it a 10. Unfortunately, after a few days, I had body aches like I was getting the flu, I hurt from head to toe. It took me a few days to figure it out over the weekend while no doctor was in the office, but the cause of my body aches, fatigue, and actual jitteriness was this medication. Due to needing my menses completely stopped for proper OBGYN testing, I still have to take this medication, it makes me feel awful! So for the feeling of yuckiness, for lack of a better word, I give it a 2. Overall, a 6 since it did the job I needed."

For Uterine Bleeding "I was prescribed progesterone by my GYN for unusual, post-menopause spotting coupled with the thickening of my uterine lining. He said it might reduce the uterine lining. Mine is 16 mm, and normal is about 4 mm. He did not say how this drug would achieve this. I do not know if the lining will evaporate or if I will have a period. I have been on it for 30 days, and the spotting has stopped. I will now have a vaginal ultrasound to see how thick the lining is. I can't imagine it would be thinner because how would that happen if there was no period. I give the drug high points because I slept really well, and there were no odd symptoms, no breast tenderness, no real dizziness. I took it at bedtime, of course."
