Phentermine / topiramate for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "So I have been taking it for a couple of months now and have lost a total of 50 pounds. In the beginning, the only side effects I have encountered have been dry mouth, nausea, and constipation. In the past year, I've lost 50 lbs, and that's without a ton of changes. I noticed a huge change in my appetite. I wasn't someone that overate to begin with, which was why my weight was frustrating, but now I notice I have to make an effort to eat meals because I'm rarely hungry. I have plenty of energy to do everything I need to do. I am at my initial goal weight but now looking to go an extra 10 lbs lighter. On April 5, 2021, I received the basic dosage and initiated my 1500-calorie intake, as well as 7000 daily steps. As of May 19, 2021, my weight was 304. I'm down 22 pounds. I'm extremely happy with the results. Since chemotherapy in 2015, I have gained over 130 pounds. The Mayo Clinic recognized my health issues and quickly recommended Qsymia. My side effects are similar to other posters: constipation, numbness in hands, mild insomnia, and dry mouth. As for what I am doing to assist in my weight loss, I stopped drinking all carbonated drinks and no more sugar. I am now adding an additional 30 minutes of stationary recumbent bike exercise to the 7000 steps. I drink two 16 oz bottles of water every morning with my pill. I drink a minimum of 5 (16 oz) bottles a day. I use my watch and phone to track my exercise, and I document all meals on an app called MyFitnessPal. I take screenshots of all my exercise and food information and send it to my nutritionist in a weekly email."

I have had several side effects like constipation, insomnia, numbness in face and legs. Any carbonated drink tastes like it's been sitting out open for a day, just flat, no fizz at all. With that being said, I've lost about 4 pounds so far without changes to my lifestyle. Foods do taste different. Sodas taste like metal, rice and bread taste like cardboard, and anything other than a salad, lean grilled, broiled, or steamed meats or fruits taste rather nasty. One thing is for sure, AVOID ANY DRINK WITH ASPARTAME IN IT, it will give you a monster headache and really make the tingling numb feeling really noticeable. Today (6/10/13) I weighed in at 221. A month ago I asked the doctor to increase my dose to the 11.25/69 mg as I was starting to eat more. That is when I was not able to sleep, and then halfway through taking that dose, I noticed I started having numbness in my right foot/calf (which I guess is normal). I already went back to the doctor and asked to be put back on the lower dose, even though it will slow my progress. I still have 25 lbs to go. I hope going back to the lower dose solves this problem. It has now been 6 weeks. I have had side effects, but only minor - some dry mouth, difficulty sleeping if I don't have a glass of wine before bed ;), some numbness a few times in my face, and that's it. I'm down 14 pounds. I have a very slow metabolism, so I did not lose as much as some in the first two weeks upon taking. My weight started at 198. I am down to 193. So I have lost 5 lbs in 3 weeks. But that is without cardio. My appetite is suppressed. Dry mouth. So drink a lot of water. Tingling, almost numbness in my feet at times, but it goes away shortly after.
