"Ever since I have been put on this medicine for the abnormal bleeding, I still have been bleeding since then, and that was Nov 20th, and today is the 6th of Dec. Remember, I was already breakthrough slight spotting when I came in. Now, I am bleeding so heavy."

Norethindrone "I was prescribed Nora-Be after being off of birth control for 15 years. I always had normal periods, on time to a tee. Now I am getting my period for 9 days. I'm stopping this med right away, especially after reading all those reviews on in-between period bleeding."

"Started on the smaller dose of Errin last year after the regular pill made me really sick (high blood pressure, blood pounding in ears, extreme bleeding, etc.). Took it for 9 months, did virtually nothing. Period every 24 days, typically lasting 2-3 weeks. Stopped in December and saw some improvement, but then in March, the heavy bleeding and clots started again, so took the 5 mg dosage per GY's advice (I did not want an IUD, ablation, or any other surgery). 2 months into this and this last week has been the worst of my life - saying a lot considering period nightmare IS my life!!! The pain, clots, and nonstop bleeding of this last week have just convinced me to let Mother Nature take the wheel - I'm so exhausted and over this. Praying for menopause. To anyone considering a hysterectomy for fibroids/abnormal bleeding, etc., please do it while you're young and don't suffer for years the way I have."

"I have just started my third month on norethindrone. It's a treatment for abnormal bleeding. I used to have endometriosis problems some years ago. It has worked well in that my periods are much lighter and predictable. Before, I was doing about 2 weeks of bleeding and 1 week free, and back to 2 weeks of bleeding. Now, it's 4-5 days of light bleeding per month. I have noticed more headaches, though. Nothing I would trade for the effectiveness. I see my doctor next month. I believe the expectation was to have no periods, but this is 100% better than before."

Norethindrone "Over it!!! Due to my health insurance going away, I was given Errin as it was cheaper out of pocket. I was using Loestrin FE and was loving it! Periods were very light, and some months didn't come at all. It was a nice alternative to the Mirena that I had. However, the Errin is horrible. I take it the same time every day, and the side effects are awful. I have started to experience breakouts on my face. But the worst is the periods! Periods last anywhere from 7-10 days!! It's ridiculous!! You think you're done, and BAM it's back. Once this pack is empty, I'm done!! I have insurance now, so I will be asking the doctor to switch me back to my Loestrin FE. This is horrible!! I do not recommend."

"I've been taking norethindrone for 6 months now, and things appear to be getting worse. Each month, the number of days I bleed goes up. This month isn't even over, and I've bled 13 days nonstop, 3 days not bleeding, and another week of bleeding. I've been told most side effects go away after about 3-5 months, so I plan on seeing how the next three months go. It's very annoying and painful to be bleeding what certainly feels like all the time."

"I’ve been struggling with PCOS for years, and my periods were crazy heavy when they came. I tried the combo pill for a few months and started getting awful migraines, turns out that was from the estrogen giving me dangerously high blood pressure. So my endo put me on the mini pill to see if a single hormone pill would help. I haven’t had my period in almost a year, and that is exactly what I wanted this pill for, it is amazing. I have noticed I’m having a hard time losing weight, and I’m nauseous a fair amount, but it’s better than being practically bedbound for a week every month."

"I can't stay on this any longer. I was having cramping, gushing blood every 4 days, and a swollen uterus. Took this medicine for 2 weeks (double dose the first week) and did stop my bleeding and cramping, BUT made my depression and mood swings miserable. Worst mom ever. Also experienced heartburn, shaking, cloudy thinking, feelings of being overwhelmed, and acne. I am stopping it after 20 pills! I would rather bleed to death!"

Norethindrone "I've been on Errin birth control pill for 3 months, currently on number 4. Since I started, my cycle has lasted for up to 10 days. Prior, it only lasted 5 days. After reading the comments here, I'm done too. Calling the doctor to prescribe me a new one, or I'll just go back to using my Flow app."

"The first week was hell getting used to it. I do not use this for birth control and I don't believe healthy women should be using this if it's just for BC. I have fibroids and endometriosis. Lately, my periods have been so heavy, long, and clotting that I'm right on the borderline of needing a blood transfusion. After the first week of hell (heavy cramping, bleeding, and large clotting), my bleeding stopped. My pain stopped. This is such a relief and a serious lifesaver. Like I said, I don't suggest it if you're healthy and just looking for BC. But if you have heavy bleeding, give it a try. It may be the answer you're looking for."

"I've been taking this drug for about two years, and I have mixed feelings about it. I started it because I had 10-day-long periods with severe cramps lasting even longer than that. I started on the lowest dose and had constant spotting for a long time. Told the doc, and she moved me up a dose. This is where the mixed feelings come in... I have had perhaps two days total of bleeding (only when I forgot to take the pill) in the past two years, but I've also experienced significant weight gain, acne, and mood changes, and it's getting old. At this point, I'm considering switching to a different BC method. Unfortunately, I can't take anything with estrogen! (Migraine with aura)"

"Dr. prescribed this to me on June 29, 2016. I had started my period a day or 2 before my appointment. I was experiencing very painful cramps, heavy bleeding, and some passing of clots while menstruating. After taking this medication, my period is still on or I'm still bleeding. A much more heavy flow with huge clots being passed now. This made my symptoms worse than before, and I have been bleeding since June 29th, today is July 12th. Go back to the Dr. today, a Lupron Depot shot, and I may stop this therapy altogether and continue to deal with my previous symptoms. Not worth it. I'm 42 yrs old, have 2 adult kids ages 25, 27, and had a tubal around 2007."

Norethindrone "This medication made my life purely awful. I have PCOS and was placed on Jencycla for period regularity. Well, I was on it for two years. I lost almost all of my hair, was having horrible mood swings and depression, gained more weight, and became suicidal. My doctor kept telling me it was related to PCOS and kept putting me on more meds that I refused to take. So eventually, I decided to stop taking it, and honestly, I never felt better. In two months, I’ve lost twenty pounds, my hair is growing back quickly, and my mood swings have slowed tremendously. I do not recommend this med, but like with any other, it affects people differently."

Norethindrone "39, no kids. I have always had issues with taking BC, estrogen makes me a moody, bloated beast. I was diagnosed with endo 5 years ago. Got an IUD with hormone, worked for 2 years, and I've been bleeding now off and on for months. Was just in to see my OB last week, and he suggested Nora-Be. At first, I was hesitant, but he explained that the progesterone dosage is the same as IUD and a fraction of the hormone compared to the progesterone pills. I've taken it for a week here and there to shrink cysts. So I said okay. Took my first pill last night. Today I was more calm and patient, no appetite at all. Will post an update in a few days."

Norethindrone "I have very light abnormal bleeding after intercourse and was prescribed Nora-Be. I was so scared of taking this due to the fact that I've taken the patch, the shot, and the combo pill, and they all sucked. They all caused weight gain, hair loss, and moodiness, and my period lasted FOREVER. So I expected no less from this pill. But to my surprise, my period stopped when it was supposed to, no bloat, weight gain, or hair loss so far. Guess my body doesn't agree with extra estrogen, so progestin it is. If you have a bad experience with all these estrogen birth controls, I suggest giving this a try. Only thing I hate about it is taking it every day at the same time, but dealing with that rather than the estrogen side effects is minor."

Norethindrone "I was given this birth control for PCOS after my previous pill (Diane 35) caused blood clots to form in my body. The only side effect I had is extreme boob tenderness and tightness that went away after a couple of weeks, though my nipples still feel sore. If I miss even one pill or am late more than an hour, I get a period. I didn't have a period for a whole year, and even on Diane 35 I wasn't getting much, but boy did Jencycla turn that around!"

Norethindrone "I tried to take Camila for three months in order to stop very painful periods with heavy bleeding. I had one normal period, and then I had a period EVERY OTHER WEEK for two months. The severity of my periods had not changed at all, so I was essentially bedridden every other week with bad cramps and heavy bleeding. I was too exhausted to do anything on the 'off' weeks. I hoped this birth control would work for me because I can't take estrogen birth control in case it would raise my intracranial pressure. In fact, I do think that taking Camila still raised my pressure anyway, but not a significant amount. It also may have been exacerbating the ovarian cysts and polyp that I have, which are probably causing my painful periods in the first place! Ultimately, the risk of side effects on top of the excessive bleeding was not worth it, and I stopped taking this medication."

"I'm so glad I stumbled onto this site and comments. This pill has been a nightmare. I bleed HEAVY constantly for weeks at a time. I'm now severely anemic and am going through iron (IV) infusions. YES, like another commenter, I have my period for weeks, last month I was on my period for 3 weeks. I'm so tired and frustrated that I'm 38 and considering a hysterectomy. I started this pill 9/28/16. Every time I called about the heavy, long periods, I was told it takes 2 to 3 months for my body to adjust, it's now been 6 months, and like I said, I was on my period for 3 weeks last month and just had my 1st of 5 iron infusion treatments. Nightmare... AVOID THIS PILL :("

Norethindrone "Started on Errin 4 weeks after I had my son, and I have been on it for almost 4 months now, and the last 2 months I have had a period 2 times a month, which is so unusual for me. After reading everyone's experiences with it, I am glad I'm not the only one that is like this. I was wondering if it was my body getting back on track after having my son or the birth control. Since I'm a smoker, I was put on this, and it was the only pill offered to me. It was this or the IUD, and I really don't want a foreign object in my body. Great as a birth control, but for me, I was using it for 2 reasons: it was as a birth control and to STOP my periods."

Norethindrone "I was prescribed Sharobel for abnormal bleeding and because I can’t take estrogen due to clotting problems. It started out rough - the cramping was severe and my periods were heavier. I had horrible breast tenderness. There are definitely pros and cons to taking this pill. I’ve been on it for a year and it hasn’t regulated my cycles. I sometimes have two a month, sometimes I’m very late, or sometimes I just have spotting. I’ve gotten some acne and minor hair loss. However, I used to have chronic UTIs and that stopped after starting this pill. My cycles are also now extremely light and here and there, no cramping and really no PMS. I’m staying on it."

"I have experienced very abnormal menses for the past 5 years. Finally, after growing tired of bleeding almost every day of those 5 years, I went to the OBGYN, and she put me on Zarah with directions to take all pills up to 3 weeks, then skip the next week. However, this did not stop the menses, so she put in a Mirena and gave me Norethindrone also. I am still bleeding, I have bled every day for over 8 1/2 weeks since seeing this doctor. I have experienced cramping, sweating, mood swings, fatigue, and heavy legs at night in bed. I hope they can do something soon because I am ready to take out my uterus! This insane constant bleeding is driving me nuts!"

"Use caution. I started taking this form of the 'mini pill' in September 2016. Initially, I had no adverse reactions to it, but the side effects of NONSTOP BLEEDING hit me like a Mack truck. For the past two months, I have been experiencing what's known as 'breakthrough bleeding' almost every day. The kicker is I stopped taking it over a month ago! Seek other forms of contraception-this one is really scary (and only 80% effective)."

Norethindrone "I have been taking Lyza since December 5th, 2016. I have had vaginal bleeding since December 7th, 2017. Yes, that is 71 days straight! I have not had any other side effects from this pill, but the bleeding is enough to do me in. I keep waiting to see if it will even out, but again this week it is heavier than just spotting and showing no signs of slowing down. I have high blood pressure, which is why I am on this pill, but I don't think I can keep taking it much longer. So frustrated!!!!"

Norethindrone "So I was given Lyza because of my migraines. Long story short, as soon as I started taking it, I've had problems. My migraines seem even worse. It made me really moody and depressed. Not to mention, never having a break from my period, if I'm lucky, I get 5 days off at the most, other than that, I'm always on my period. I definitely would not recommend!"
