Nora-Be (norethindrone) "I started taking this pill after i had my son, the dr prescribed this pill because i breastfeed. I have been on the pill for almost a year now and i have a period twice a month and im not talking about spotting or light bleeding.. i have a heavy period every time. I know everyone has different experiences but i would not recommend this pill."

Nora-Be (norethindrone) "Started 3 nights ago to help with heavy periods. This pill has made me have very heavy clotting~ cramping ~ bleeding through heavy pads every 1 - 1 1/2 hours at night. Went out to lunch yesterday and within 1 hour had soaked a heavy pad and blood down my leg. I’ve only been on this 3 nights and usually by now my period would be almost over ~ I really don’t think I should continue ~ I do not need this for birth control ~ trying to help with heavy periods and this is the worse I’ve had in years. I’ve taken more Advil in last 3 days than in the last 6 months due to heavy cramping. I think I’m stopping this today !!!!"

"The first week was hell getting used to it. I do not use this for birth control and I don't believe healthy women should be using this if it's just for BC. I have fibroids and endometriosis. Lately, my periods have been so heavy, long, and clotting that I'm right on the borderline of needing a blood transfusion. After the first week of hell (heavy cramping, bleeding, and large clotting), my bleeding stopped. My pain stopped. This is such a relief and a serious lifesaver. Like I said, I don't suggest it if you're healthy and just looking for BC. But if you have heavy bleeding, give it a try. It may be the answer you're looking for."

Heather (norethindrone) "I've been on this Heather daily pill for one month and a half and I'm not really liking it. I've been getting my period EVERY week for 3 days. And it's even worse that it starts on Thursdays which means I'm on it over the weekend. I'm just going to finish the rest of this month's pills and if it doesn't get better I'm switching to something else."

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) "Hi. I have taken the pill for 26 days. The 27th, I have decided to stop! I have been bleeding heavily for 26 continuous days, plus cramping, headaches, absolute lack of libido, bigger sore breasts, need to sleep 5 extra hours per day (naps all the time), extreme sadness, vaginal dryness despite the bleeding, heavy legs, general growing fatigue and incapacity to function normally! I switched to another pill (Lolo from Actavis), and so far so good. I am thankful for the reviews here because I did not feel alone or getting crazy with such painful side effects. The extreme sadness was really odd. Lolo is not a mini-pill, but it has a low amount of oestrogen. I am hopeful. I could not move with Micronor despite being very active normally."

Camila (norethindrone) "I have just finished my 2nd pack. Starting 3rd tomorrow. I am bleeding every other week. I started taking it to regulate my periods. It has made it worse. I am constantly bleeding either spotting or full blown. My breast have gotten bigger. My mood swings are OFF the wall. I do not know if I can make this 3rd month all the way. I am tired of having to buy 2 packs of pads."

Errin (norethindrone) "I was on Errin for two months. I'm in perimenopause and it was recommended to control some abnormal bleeding. The first month was ok, but I basically bled all of month two, either spotting or very, very heavy. Stopped it a few days ago and still bleeding. I went to the doctor and had an exam - no other physical cause for the heavy bleeding. He agreed I should stop taking it although he wanted me to try originally for three or four months. I don't see how - this was the worse bleeding ever. I'll take perimenopausal irregularity over this."

"I was prescribed this to help with periods, during which I had 3 weeks to 2 months of bleeding at a time. Heavy bleeding that is. It works so well with me that my periods have stopped and that's just fine by me."

Errin (norethindrone) "I have been on this pill for a year now. I went a while without a period just constant spotting. Well, I can't tell if it's an extremely light period or just spotting. It's not enough blood for a tampon or pad but a liner. I hate it bc if I do want to have sex, I have to act like I have to pee right before just to make sure I'm not bleeding. I'm on my last pack & then I'm done with it. I also was on this pill due to high bp & horrible periods. I'll take my risks at not taking this anymore!"

Nora-Be (norethindrone) "I have been on Nora-BE for 2 years now. I had tried other combination pills to help with my abnormal heavy bleeding and had adverse side effects (High blood pressure, mood swings, acne, bloating) There is no estrogren in Nora-BE, so my blood pressure went back to normal once I was on it. I find that my PMS is much more stable and my complexion even cleared up on it. No issues with weight gain or hair loss. It took about 6 months for my period to stabilize but now I have a 4 day very manageable cycle instead of 7 days of extremely heavy and clotty bleeding. Nora-Be has changed my life! Highly recommended."

Aygestin (norethindrone) "Stopped the bleeding but had dizziness and mood swings. Even one out burst of anger. Also abdominal cramps. But for one week so far 100 times better then the last 2 months of bleeding. I am 58 and use an estrogen patch. Also prometrium but not enough to balance the unopposed estrogen which caused a thickening of the lining."

"This pill caused horrible side effects. My mood swings were so bad I thought I was going crazy. I was angry all the time, sad, depressed, and suffered nightmares. It will lighten your periods, but it wasn't worth feeling mentally insane!"

Nora-Be (norethindrone) "I had a period every week for 4 months and at first tried Tri-Nessa and that did nothing. A friend recommended Nora-Be and I am so glad she did. I have irregular bleeding once a month now and it's so much better. No cramps and no pain. Love it!"

Errin (norethindrone) "I started taking this 6 weeks after my daughter was born. I’ve been taking for 3 months now and am officially stopping this pill. It has made me bleed so irregularly and heavily that it’s unmanageable. It feels like I’m bleeding more so than when I am not. I’m not sure if I am experiencing other symptoms but definitely look like I am more bloated so maybe that’s something I’ve experienced as well and haven’t correlated the two. My primary reason for stopping is the excessive bleeding."

Errin (norethindrone) "Over it!!! Due to my health Insurance going away I was given Errin as it was cheaper out of pocket. I was using Loestrin FE and was loving it! Periods were very light and some months didn't come at all. It was a nice alternative to the Mirena that I had. However, the Errin is horrible. I take it the same time everyday and the side effects are awful. I have started to experience breakouts on my face. But, the worse is the periods! Periods last anywhere from 7-10 days!!!!!!!! It's ridiculous!! You think your done and BAM it's back. Once the this pack is empty I'm done!! I have insurance now so I will asking the doctor to switch me back to my Loestrin FE. This is horrible!! I do not recommend."

Jolivette (norethindrone) "I've been using these pills 3 months now. I've had very heavy bleeding for so long that I welcomed a change. The first two months were awesome. My cycle was very light and lasted the normal five days. No cramping, very little bloating. This third month my cycle came like clockwork lasted five days then two weeks later returned. My breast have been very tender and although very small they feel heavy I'm not giving up yet."

"I was prescribed this pill after I spoke to my gyno about having a irregular bleeding. I told her my periods have been lasting for over a week, on and off. So, first week on it, I wasn’t bleeding, but after the first week I had NON STOP HEAVY PERIOD, back to back blood clots and some bigger than a quarter. I’m on my second pack, and I’m still bleeding heavy with clots and all no change. I'm starting to feel weak due to all the non stop bleeding. I'm just going to completely stop this stuff. I'm done spending money tampons and pads, due to the fact that I gotta wear BOTH because it’s THAT heavy."

Lyza (norethindrone) "I have been taking Lyza since December 5th, 2016. I have had vaginal bleeding since December 7th, 2017. Yes, that is 71 days straight! I have not had any other side effects from this pill but the bleeding is enough to do me in. I keep waiting to see if it will even out but again this week it is heavier then just spotting and showing no signs of slowing down. I have high blood pressure which is why I am on this pill but I don't think I can keep taking it much longer. So frustrated!!!!"

Jencycla (norethindrone) "This medication made my life purely awful. I have PCOS and was placed on Jencycla for period regularity. Well, I was on it two years. Lost almost all of my hair, was having horrible mood swings and depression, gained more weight and became suicidal. My doctor kept telling me it was related to PCOS and kept putting me on more meds that I refused to take. So eventually I decided to stop taking it and honestly I never felt better. In two months I’ve lost twenty pounds, my hair is growing back quickly, and my mood swings have slowed tremendously. I do not recommend this med but like with any other it effects people differently."

"Started on the smaller dose of Errin last year after the regular pill made me really sick (high blood pressure, blood pounding in ears, extreme bleeding, etc). Took it for 9 months, did virtually nothing. Period every 24 days typically lasting 2-3 weeks. Stopped in December and saw some improvement but then March the heavy bleeding and clots started again so took the 5mg dosage per GY's advice (I did not want an IUD, ablation or any other surgery). 2 months into this and this last week has been the worst of my life - saying a lot considering period nightmare IS my life!!! The pain, clots and nonstop bleeding of this last week have just convinced me to let Mother Nature take the wheel - I'm so exhausted and over this. Praying for menopause. To anyone considering a hysterectomy for fibroids/abnormal bleeding etc..please do it while you young and don't suffer for years the way I have."

Errin (norethindrone) "I decided to come back and review this drug as I was on the fence as there were a lot of negative reviews. I have uterine fibroids near the end of 2018, at 40. I had a heavy period that lasted 2 months. I was put on DEPO and my period stopped that night and for a few months, then I had more breakthrough bleeding. At 1 year mark, my arm that I used to get the shot in started hurting, I could barely lift it and couldn't sleep on it. I didn't go back, instead, I switched to regular birth control that used to always work (Daysee). The bleeding stopped again until I had a gallbladder attack for the first time. Turns out I had gallstones. After about a year on that, I started having breakthrough bleeding again. I read that the estrogen in the birth control is responsible (among other things) so I switched to this; almost immediately the pain has left my gallbladder and I feel normal again. Two weeks have passed, the breakthrough bleeding has passed. You have to take this at a precise time each day."

"I've been taking this drug for about two years and I have mixed feelings about it. I started it because I had 10 day+ long periods with severe cramps lasting even longer than that. I started on the lowest dose and had CONSTANT spotting for a long time. Told the doc and she moved me up a dose. This is where the mixed feelings come in... I have had perhaps two days total of bleeding (only when I forgot to take the pill) in the past two years but I've also experienced significant weight gain, acne, and mood changes, and it's getting old. At this point I'm considering switching to a different bc method. Unfortunately, I can't take anything with estrogen! (Migraine with aura)"

"I am anemic. My doctor put me on the medication to stop my period so that I could rebuild my hemoglobin . I took 5mg for 3 weeks. It gave me a low grade fever, extreme vaginal dryness, and elevated ALT (liver issues). When I stopped taking the norethindrone I developed SEVERE cramps. I have to take aleve daily because of the EXCRUCIATING pain. I don't know what I'm going to do. The pain is unbearable. I wish I hadn't taken these pills."
