Morphine for Chronic Pain "WAY overpriced almost $800 out of pocket and no one carried it either. One more way these abuse deterrent meds really hurt the ones who don’t abuse anything. Now I can’t afford my meds and my mortgage. I am a guy living with severe chronic pain. I got taken off OxyContin and oxycodone, which was 1/10 the cost out of pocket. Guess it’s suffer and wake up every hour in severe pain till I get insurance. Oh wait, then my doctor will say you’ve been doing fine without morphine for 3 months, so I’m not going to give morphine to you anymore."

For Chronic Pain "I've had 9 knee surgeries, including a replacement at 48 (08), 7 facial repairs, fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic hormonal migraines, asthma, and a ruptured left diaphragm from coughing. Liver's in chest and partially collapsed right lung lobe. The black mold, severe allergies, and infections equal cannot breathe without constant severe pain, pleurisy, rib fractures, etc.! I was using 15 mg ER every 12 hours with 15 mg for breakthrough! Not cutting the pain but better. After a bout with severe stomach flu and in the hospital for 5 days, I am using the oral liquid morphine! With the ER, significantly more effective!"

Morphine for Chronic Pain "My doctor prescribes Morphine Sulfate IR 15 to me for chronic pain. I get a really bad pain in my abdomen immediately after I take a dose, it happens every time. Does anybody have this problem? The only thing I like about taking Morphine is that I don't get groggy from it, but it doesn't seem to 'kill' my pain completely. My doctor used to prescribe me Oxycodone 40 mg, I couldn't stand the way that it made me feel. I'd get drowsy and feel like I was on heroin or something, and it didn't take away my pain."

For Chronic Pain "Over 12 years, I have been taking 240mg of Zomorph and topping up with Oramorph. All started when my neck collapsed and severed some nerves. Caused all sorts of trouble on my left side, numbness and chronic pain in my shoulder, arm, thigh, and groin. What was strange was that it seemed to trigger all sorts of conditions: anaphylactic shock (4 times hospitalized, scary with my throat closing), Type 2 Diabetes, kidney stones (twice really bad, ongoing), cellulitis, leg went black, purple, and is still painful after 18 months. My biggest problem is my short-term memory is shot. I can look at a number with 4 digits and turn the page, and it's gone. It takes me around 3 or 4 turns of the page before I can write the number down."

Morphine for Pain "I was nearly killed in a bicycle versus motor vehicle accident. All things considered, I am extremely lucky to be alive and still able to walk. I landed on my head and neck after striking the front corner panel of the vehicle at nearly 40 mph. As a result of this, I have 'mildly bulging discs' in C4-C7 (I think C# may be different?) with neural stenosis and syringomyelia, which is a disorder in which a cyst forms within the spinal cord. I was taking 6-8 Percocet a day, then I moved to Lortab, and I had a problem with constantly needing more than I was given, and I would end up in severe pain for several hours out of the day. Then my doctor suggested MS Contin, and my opiate consumption went down from what it was, and my pain control was improved."
