Morphine Sulfate ER (morphine) for Chronic Pain "The Ranbaxy manufacturer morphine medication works differently than what was prescribed at a different pharmacy. I will be going back to the previous pharmacy, which carries a different manufacturer. The Ranbaxy/Sun 15 mg ER tablets are inconsistent. For the past two weeks taken this medication, I have been nauseous and vomiting after 4 hours, get really sleepy occasionally after one hour, not holding pain as usual for 12 hours. Something is really wrong with this extended relief medication. Will let CVS know this medication needs further review. Doubt anyone will take notice since it is a pain medication that the government and doctors view as a patient problem."

For Chronic Pain "To be completely 100% honest with you guys. I was given morphine for about a week, and it was the extended-release ones. It didn't work for me. The morphine my doctor gave me was extended, and it was supposed to last up to 12 hours, and at the end of the day, it didn't do anything. The only thing morphine did for me was make me a little nauseous, and my stomach was cramped up, and I couldn't go to the bathroom. Now, if the doctor were to try the fast-acting morphine, I bet you that would have been a lot better, but most doctors do not want to give out fast-acting medications anymore, and those are the ones that are going to work."

Morphine Sulfate ER (morphine) for Chronic Pain "15 mg 3x a day ER. I've been trying to find the right medication to treat fibromyalgia pain. I've experienced nearly every side effect, worst being respiratory problems and weight gain. My attitude has been poor, and I'm completely miserable. It's increased my depression. For all the horrible side effects I've experienced, it doesn't seem worth it to stay on the medication for minor pain relief. The same has happened to me with Lyrica (Neurontin with a prettier name) and tramadol ER. Morphine is by far the worst. I gave it 2 weeks, but I can't take any more of the nausea and illness this medication has caused. I took a morning dose today and feel ill, as usual. I can't wait to flush this garbage from my system."

For Pain "I have small cell lung cancer. My doctor prescribed fast-release morphine yesterday, 30 mg, and after 2 1/2 tablets I have stopped. I was on Norco 10 mg, which took my pain to a completely tolerable level. The morphine has left me terribly nauseated and barely able to eat. I itch horribly and it has sapped my energy terribly. Also, it does not really reduce my pain. I took only 1/2 tab today and I've had enough."

MS Contin (morphine) for Pain "I took MS Contin 12 mg/day for a medical condition, which has since been resolved. When I ran out, I decided (against the advice of my pharmacist) to quit cold turkey. Symptoms were worst on day 5 of withdrawal: knee pains, nausea, hot flushes, severe insomnia, malaise, and have now (day 9) gone down to just nausea and malaise. I have not, and refuse to, seek any other habit-forming drugs from my doctor."

For Pain "Morphine was a true godsend after invasive cancer surgery! I had some unpleasant side effects like constipation, nausea, and vomiting that were controlled by Zofran. The pain relief I got from morphine was totally worth it."

Avinza (morphine) for Pain "I found out about 3 years ago that I had systemic lupus, and it hit me like a brick wall. Besides my joints and muscles hurting, my immune system attacked my blood vessels, causing my blood pressure to be uncontrollably high. The Avinza helped bring the blood pressure down as a natural side effect and has helped to manage the pain in the rest of my body. I am currently taking 120 mgs slow release daily but still have some pain. I would not have been able to function without the morphine. Aside from the pain in general, my blood pressure was never out of the 'stroke and heart attack' zone with regular hypertension drugs. The worst side effects are nausea and constipation."

Morphine Sulfate ER (morphine) for Pain "This medicine claims to be 24-hour extended release, but it is not. It releases the total dose within an hour. This is not an effective generic equivalent to Avinza 24-hour ER or Kadian 12 SR or Kadian 24-hour ER. The pain control is not effective or consistent. The side effects are severe and dangerous. I had a severe headache daily, liver enzymes elevated, no appetite, severe nausea, caused chest pain and shortness of breath."

Avinza (morphine) for Pain "After a diagnosis of Stage IIIA breast cancer, 2 separate modified radical surgeries with lymph node removal and chemotherapy, I was then put on Arimidex. Had major joint pain, body aching, nauseous, and anxiety, to name a few. I tried NSAIDs and many narcotic medications without success. Eventually, I was put on Avinza three years ago. Finally, relief! I have no side effects from Avinza. I take a capsule every 12 hours. The dosage has been varied, but little else is required for breakthrough. I don't know what is different about this narcotic, but thankfully, it works for me."

MS Contin (morphine) for Chronic Pain "Not for me, no way. I'd rather take Percocet or Norco over MS Contin any day of my life, reason being horrible nausea, flushing in the face. Nah, I pass."
