Loperamide for Diarrhea, Chronic "My sister and I both have ongoing diarrhea. Every single day. 1-2 times a day for me, but more for her. All females in our family have it. It’s our family curse. But we took 2 of these pills for only two days, and we didn’t have any intestinal activity for the next five days. From taking two tablets for two days (so we took only 4 mg each day, once a day, for only two days), we took that tiny, small amount and didn’t have even a slight cramp, not even a bubble in our intestine, nothing for five days. This never happens, and we both were somewhat constipated still even on day 5. I don't know how anyone is saying it didn’t work. It definitely worked for us, at least."

For Lymphocytic Colitis "I read all the reviews and didn't read any that had lymphocytic colitis, so thought I would chime in. Lymphocytic colitis is a condition where your body thinks there's an infection of some kind, but there really isn't. Anyway, I have had to experiment with the dosage and have found that one pill in the morning is right for me. Occasionally, I have to take half a pill extra or cut back half a pill if I start to get constipated, but now I have my life back. This product is wonderful. I've been taking it now for about 1 year with no side effects that I'm aware of. I'll probably be on it for the rest of my life since there is no cure for what I have. By the way, if you have a Bi-Mart in town, they have the best price and it comes in a small bottle of 100, and all the pills are loose inside, so no cutting and fighting with blister packs."

For Diarrhea, Chronic "I have spent the last year going to doctors. I had a contrast CT scan, a scope with biopsy. There is nothing physically wrong. I suffer from PTSD symptoms. The doctor said high adrenaline levels and little sleep are the issue. I cannot take bismuth or other drugs that coat your insides because I take diazepam. (That must be absorbed) Loperamide: I took 1 tablet (probably 2mg). It made things worse! I had the same bad cramps, but was constipated and could not use the toilet for 3 days. It did not help with the pain at all. It might have made it worse. Maybe I will try a lower dose. I've already had piles and a fissure. The cramps are nothing compared to a fissure. Which is what I am trying to avoid!"

For Diarrhea, Chronic "Ok, my last review. To be completely fair, I have seen a doctor and there is nothing to do right now. More tests. So I am taking Loperamide daily now, and a gel Simethicone. Take caution at first. It can make you constipated very easily. The box recommends taking way too much! I am taking the lowest dose possible. Opiate tolerance is real. After 1 week, I had to double the dose to 2 mg. It is working the same now. It should level off. I have read white papers about people taking Loperamide for 500+ days daily. It seems to be safe if you don't take a large dose. Everyone is different, and I am desperate. I don't want another fissure! The pharmacist didn't know anything more than the back of the box. 1-3 days of tummy trouble. I would prefer Bismuth Silicate. Again, I can't take drugs that coat your insides because I take Diazepam for PTSD. The reason I don't sleep/digest and have bowel issues. Loperamide is good. Dose varies per person, start low. They act quickly. Opiate tolerance is real."

For Diarrhea, Chronic "I came back to re-review. People are different. The box says to take no more than 16mg in 24 hours. 2mg was too much for me. Tonight, I took 1mg. I still have abdominal pain, but it's eased and I don't feel the need to go to the bathroom every hour or more. A+! I'm hurting myself going to the bathroom too often. I am also going to take simethicone for the gas. I do have unpassed gas that I can feel. Both drugs are sold in a pill combined at the store. I had no idea. But I need a low dose of loperamide and a high dose of simethicone for relief so taking them separately is for the best. I have felt the need to 'go' so with luck, I will not be constipated for 3 days and have normal bowel movements finally! I've changed my diet, celiac, lactose, meats, I've done it all! I eat white bread/rice and cheese or some kind of bean. Otherwise, I feel like I've been punched in the stomach."

For Diarrhea "Works very well at calming my IBS. No issues at all other than constipation if I overdo it."
