For Allergies "I wouldn’t take this Xyzal. My side effects were that I had so many heart palpitations it was close to atrial fibrillation. I couldn’t sleep. Dangerous. Who cares about allergies when you need your heart to beat right to stay alive."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I started taking it about two weeks ago, and it made me super sleepy. Then I started to take it at night, and I would wake up with heart palpitations. I have had indigestion and chest tightness. I’m going back to my old faithful, Claritin."

For Allergies "If you have a history of mitral valve prolapse or tachycardia, do not take Xyzal! I took this for three days and ended up having AFib. My doctors dismissed the possibility of the Xyzal causing this, even though it was the only change in my routine. I was put on Toprol, Eliquis, and Multaq to treat the AFib and referred to an electrophysiologist for a possible heart ablation. Since they said it was not the Xyzal causing this heart problem, and I started suffering from my allergies again, I decided to take it again. A few hours later, I began having palpitations. The risk of palpitations, tachycardia, and AFib should be included on the label!!"

For Allergic Rhinitis "As many allergy sufferers know, I get so sick from allergies at the end of summer. So bad, you feel sick, so I usually take a Benadryl in the late evening. It helps, but does make me sleepy, so I avoid it during the day! Thought, oh, I'll try Xyzal. It would be so nice to not suffer in the day too. Whoa... me too, among those suffering heart palpitations on it! Not good! Wow... I will NOT be using it. I'm 66 and don't want to invite any trouble! Oh, it DID work to ease the allergy symptoms very nice, but not worth the risk because of how it did affect my heart."

For Allergies "I started taking this as my allergies were out of control this year and nothing else seemed to work anymore. It worked great at first, then after about 3 weeks I started getting irregular heartbeats and the overall feeling of anxiety, which brought me into the ER since the symptoms were getting worse with a rising heart rate. After about a week off the meds, I am feeling much more normal again. Very scary when an allergy med affects your heart rate! None of the others I have ever taken gave me this feeling."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I have terrible year-round allergies. I was taking Benadryl, but it triggers migraines. So, I decided to try Xyzal. It worked great on my allergies, but the side effects are horrible! After about two weeks, I noticed heart palpitations that would get worse each day I took it. Then the chest pain, heartburn, and edema in my lower extremities started. I quit taking Xyzal and went back to Zyrtec. I should have known taking something in the same family would still cause problems. I took Zyrtec for four days. The palpitations and chest pain started up again, and I had a bronchospasm. I was gasping for breath last night. I emailed the company that produces Xyzal and asked about these side effects. I was told they have no information."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Felt very groggy. Hard to wake up. After 2 days experienced chest tightness, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations. Stopped for a few days and restarted. Same symptoms came back."
