For Endometriosis "I took my first injection 4 days ago, but had a migraine that night. Since then I have been crying a lot. I can't believe the side effects have hit me so fast. I have abdominal pain as well but the crying is the worst so far."

For Endometriosis "I have stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis. Had emergency surgery 3 years ago due to a large endometrioma causing a total blockage of my sigmoid colon. Everyone's reports on here about unbearable pain and severe bleeding - yup, same for me. I've been bleeding nonstop for over a year now. Received my first 1 month dose of lupron on 11/22/19. The only side effect was a slight uptick in libido the first two weeks during the initial estrogen spike. The last week of the month, I got my period but the bleeding and pain were much reduced from before. Noticed an improvement in pain during intercourse. I am on the add-back and have had no night sweats, hot flashes, or vaginal dryness. No impact on my mood that I could notice. Received my second dose, the 3 month long dose, yesterday (12/20/19). Can't comment yet on the experience, but I'm sure hoping to stop bleeding entirely and eliminate the pain."

For Endometriosis "I am very happy I went on Lupron Depot. I am on my 6th month of it and although the symptoms of hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness, and some weight gain are not fun, it still is VERY worth it. I have been pain free (when I was in debilitating pain before) and no period which is nice. Hopefully I'll be able to get pregnant soon too!"

For Endometriosis "I will say I virtually have no periods and have had maybe 3 endo pain days that don’t come close to what the pain used to be. NOW the side effects are horrid! BUT I’ll take the side effects over the pain in periods. My bones ache not unbearable but uncomfortable. The night sweats bad but bearable. I’m tired lots but I can function with some caffeinated tea & b12 for energy. Mood swings and little depression/anxiety. It’s not intense depression for me like nothing that makes me want to harm myself it’s just more of a dark cloud following you around. So if you have mental “instability” before taking the drugs make sure you talk to your doctor. I did not lose hair and my hair did NOT thin/fall out. I did not gain weight. The side effects still make the medicine worth taking because I have no pain or real periods. I get the shot every 3 months (I’m on 9 months) and take a pill that comes in the shot package. The pill is taken daily, shot is every 3 months for me. Goodluck!"

For Prostate Cancer "My husband cannot comment as he died 5 years ago. He was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer. He also had radiation treatments. He suffered from fatigue, depression, and insomnia. Radiation caused damage to the urethra. His prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test was low while on Lupron depot but he was miserable and committed suicide. It would have been nice to have an alternative treatment. He didn’t want to live that way."

For Endometriosis "I have been receiving Lupron shots since August 2011. December will be shot number five. Within the first two weeks after receiving my first shot, I noticed a huge difference in pain. How awesome! I had been dealing with this pain since 2008. I had exploratory surgery and tried Chinese medicine along with acupuncture and found no relief. Lupron has been the first thing to help me be almost completely pain free. Will post again after 6th injection. I had one huge mood swing after my 1st shot and very little hot flashes. I am not craving chocolate as much but have found myself craving milk (I have always been a milk drinker)."

For Endometriosis "I just got my first shot 10 days ago. Was bleeding 2 weeks before the shot and it has not stopped yet- pain has gotten a little more intense, and has interfered with my sleep. Skin is also more dry than usual. My fingers are crossed that this will work- have had very painful cylces since I was a kid, and I'm ready to not have call in sick to work and miss social activites due to pain. No hot flashes, mood swings, or any other side effects- maybe due to the progestin I'm on. Will probably post in another couple weeks."

For Endometriosis "I suffer from terrible cramps and fibroid. I do take a low dose birth control, that sometimes barely helps my cramps. I was given the 1 dose a month, 6 month treatment after my GYNO could barely do a vaginal ultrasound for one of my visit and I had been having a "period" off and on for over 3 months. The fibroid was so large, it obstructed the movement of the wand thingy. I've been on it for 5 months, the 1st month, I still got my awful period and spent my usual $50 on pads and Advil, just as heavy. But by the 2nd month, bye bye Aunt Flo and it's been pretty okay except for the hot flashes, weight gain, tiredness and the sore hips, soles and ankles. The sore hips, soles & ankles don't hit until the 4th month. The hot flashes just suck!"

For Uterine Fibroids "My experienced with Lupron Depot has been challenging, I have side effects of memory loss, trouble breathing (did not have this before), heart palpitations just about everyday (worst at night) nausea, extreme tiredness (daily), periods had stopped before but started up when taking Lupron Depot (very light to spotting). I am in my second month of the 3 month injection and I now have body aches, hot flashes every 15 minutes all day, as subsided to every 30 min to an hour as getting close to wearing off. I will not know if the fibroid has shrunk until after the 3 months have passed. Not interested in sex, so not want to be touched. Very sensitive since shot and not having a taste for really anything. Feet swollen like Ms. Piggy. Would I get again...heck NO! I would stop eating Red Meat First and drink healthy smoothie with raw veggies and fruit first."

For Uterine Fibroids "My experience was horrible. My Obgyn recommended lupron for my fibroids. I have 1 large one the size of grapefruit, 3 the size of tennis balls and many pea size. Surgery not an option. I get lupron shots 1 time a month for 6 months. I had 13 acne cysts in total on my face that I had to have sugerically removed (over time). I gained 30 pounds almost overnight and it took me 3 years of intense dieting to get this weight off. My body thought I was going thru menopause so I had the hot flashes as well. I would not do it again. I spent a fortune only to find out after 6 months and all of this that the tumors were the same size. Years later I am having health issues and wondering if related to lupron usage."

For Uterine Fibroids "I had 8 tumors in my uterus and the doctors told me there was no way to remove them. They gave me 2 shots of lupron and I started losing my memory and the bleeding increased. I did a search for doctors that remove the tumors and I found one. He took out the tumors, I was able to keep my uterus and have had no problems since. I thank God everyday for this doctor! The only bad thing is thanks to the drug my memory is damaged for life."

For Endometriosis "lupron is not for everyone! I must admit I was horrified to try it, but it came a point I would rather die so had nothing to lose. In 2011 and 2012 both 9 months each. Then after treatment was birth control ( levora) high dose. Now 2015 just started having severe pain uncontrolled by anything else so started Lipton injection yesterday. This med made me forget I had the disease. I'm not saying there could be long term issues or anything else. But right now in this moment I'm not sick and every time before it was a god send. Hopeful this time will be as smooth as last couple times. Good luck."

For Endometriosis "I took the shot for 6 months, I had issues that I could tolerate. Such as vision change, the injection would shot pain a crossed my lower back. Well it's been 8 months since I had a shot took me 2 months before my period returned. I recently started experiencing pain in my belly button, vision was getting worse, mood swings, the end of April period was bad then 2 weeks later had another one. I was ready to have everthing removed, I had gave up hope of having a baby... So out of the blue I missed my period and now I'm 5 weeks PREGNANT! !!!!!!! I wish everyone good Luck and hang in there!!!!"

For Endometriosis "I did a 6 month treatment of Lupron and It wasn't that bad. The first couple of months I experienced migraines & hot flashes. For the reminder or the treatment, I continued to experience the hot flases but my mood swings became very uncomfortable for my family, friends, & me. I would one minute be calm & neutral...the next minute I would become mean & hateful. That was never how I was prior to the treatment. However, I completed my treatment in August 2009 and I haven't had any problems with my endometriosis at all. My doctor has now given me the option to either get pregnant or continue with birth control pills until I decide to become pregnant to maintain the endometriosis. I highly recommend this method if you can withstand the side effects."

For Uterine Fibroids "I started the shot in June 2018 due to having multiple fibroids on my uterus. I was bleeding very bad for months non stop. I had the Nexplanon (BC) in and took that out to see If the bleeding would stop as well. I took the shot for 6 months and then the doctor removed my fibroids located outside uterus on November 29, 2018. The doctor stated that he could not remove two fibroids in my uterine cavity and that he would keep an eye on them. As time went on I was still bleeding bad and got back on the Lupron injection in August 2019. I had another surgery on November 7, 2019 and my fibroids located in the uterine cavity shrunk. I did not get the shot in November and had a cycle November 23, 2019. It was heavy at first but it stopped after 5 days. My fibroids have grown back since last year and are located on the outside of my uterus. The shot may help some and it may not."

For Endometriosis "Desperate for relief after 2 surgeries within 3 months of each other, I was so hopeful about this medication. I ignored the reviews and got the shot (11.75 dosage administered every 3 months). I regret my choice so much. First, the expense! Even with insurance, my out of pocket was $1100. The mood swings were so bad that I became suicidal. I've gained 20 pounds that exercise and nutrition can't shed. The hot flashes were controlled by an OTC called Estroven. The pain did subside, but only for the 1st month after each shot (I got 2 shots total). Now, the pain is back and worse than ever and I'm only on month 5 of the treatment. Surgery # 3 scheduled in 2 weeks. This med is NOT worth the side effects."

For Endometriosis "I just had my 5th shot yesterday. The past few months have been painless in regards to side effects other then night sweats and mood swings. I have not gained any weight and everything seems pretty normal. Once again, other than the mood swings. These are harsh and sometimes I feel like another person has taken over my body and thoughts."

For Endometriosis "I had severe endometriosis. I had the kind of pain that makes you blackout. I would bleed all over my chair at work. I wear only black or navy pants. So far I've taken 3 shots and thankfully I am pain free. I have no period. But, the hot flashes are HORRIBLE. I'm always hot and tired. I don't remember the last time I had a good nights sleep. I've gone as far as putting ice packs on my bed so that I can sleep for a few hours. I've gained about 35 pounds in 9 months, my hair is thinning I ache all over, my vision has decreased so much, I seem to forget everything if I don't write it down. I think I got the entire list of side effects, however, that pain before taking Lupron? No way! I literally shake when I think about it. I'll try to manage."

For Endometriosis "During my early 30's, I had 2 laporoscopies and 1 laparotomy for severe endometriosis but had no relief from pain. At 34, I had my 1st Lupron Depot shot. It eliminated my pain completely. The only side effects were hot flashes and irritability. The side effects were EXACTLY what I am experiencing with menopause now at the age of 58. I did not have any joint pain or other side effects. After 6 months of shots, my primary care physician advised that bone loss could result from prolonged treatment, so we stopped treatment. As an alternative, I was put on low dose birth control pills which I took every day to stop my periods. Should have done this to begin with! No pain and no side effects!"

For Endometriosis "Lupron ruined my health. It made me depressed and have suicidal thoughts, which are not normal for me at all. I did not continue after month 4 and unfortunately because I wanted to stop the medication, my doctor would not see me any more. Please research the ingredients and side effects before you choose to take lupron. My doctor told me specifically not to look up the side effects.... Not wise!"

For Endometriosis "I have taken monthly injections for the past 6 months. I had a very difficult time for the first 6 weeks of treatment, but since then have not had many side effects. I had severe stomach cramping initially, along with migraines and mood swings. As those side effects subsided, the hot flashes began. With the hot flashes came nausea and unpredictable crying fits. My doctor put me on a low dose of Estradiol and Prozac. Within a few days, I was pretty much back to my old self, minus the horrible belly pains. I have to say overall the good outweighs the bad."

For Endometriosis "I received my first shot almost 2 weeks ago. I am on the 3 month dosage. Absolutely no side effects the first couple days, but pelvic/abdominal pain began day 3. My period came as normal on day 12 of getting the shot. I was really hoping to not have any at all. I will gladly deal with the more common side effects if my pain and period will go away! Only a few bouts of nausea and moments where I’ll feel so sad. I’m 39, no kids, and have been suffering with debilitating, life altering pain since 12! I’m praying this helps!"

For Endometriosis "I was very pleased with my Lupron experience. I was on a six month course and found the first three to four months easy. I did experience hot flashes, mood swings, and slight insomnia. My fifth and sixth month were a little more difficult for me. The hot flashes became a little more apparent, the mood swings more frequent, and my face began to break out. To me, that was the worst. Along with the Lupron, I had a laproscopy 2 months before the medication and I started acupuncture treatments about a month before beginning Lupron which really helped with the side effects. My pain levels before medication were unbearable. I could hardly bring myself to get out of bed. I now notice that my pain level is low if I have any at all."
