For Gout, Acute "Thanks to my father and his father, gout has been experienced by my siblings, me, and some of our children. My oldest brother and I have used both indomethacin and inducing to successfully treat flare-ups of gout. Neither my brother nor I have had issues with gout for at least five years. Both of our respective doctors, in the meantime, prescribed allopurinol, which reduces uric acid and helps prevent gout. However, I still keep indomethacin in my medicine cabinet just in case the gout ever comes back to haunt me. I suggest always taking indomethacin with plenty of food and water or milk to prevent stomach pain."

Indocin (indomethacin) for Gout, Acute "Indocin or indomethacin, in my opinion, is very effective in relieving gout symptoms. Taking 25 mg at my first opportunity (the point where I convince myself that I did nothing to stub my toe and it is a gout attack) quickly reduces the pain. I have not experienced the stomach pains or paranoia that the previous post talks about. I always take this medicine with food and drink as directed by my physician."

For Gout, Acute "Miracle relief. Take stomach issues over the gout pain. I find it better than colchicine. No running to the bathroom, just a little pain in my stomach and gassy. I used one script for two years. When an attack would come on, I would take it immediately and the pain was much less than letting it get severe and then take it. If you have had recurrent gout, you can sort of feel it coming on and you know what's coming if you don't get it controlled quickly."

For Pain "I am a 58-year-old woman. My neurologist wanted to determine if the trigeminal pain I had been diagnosed with and suffered with for over six years was instead a type of trigeminal headache. He put me on indomethacin 50 mg 3x’s per day. By the first dose of indomethacin, I was very dizzy and nauseous. I had stomach pain and extreme fatigue. I took my afternoon second dose, I had all of the above symptoms but began vomiting. I could no longer sit in the recliner but listed to the side with a pillow to halfway and half sit. I had difficulty concentrating and faded in and out between dozing and wakefulness. By the third dose, I was having dry heaves and the above symptoms were worse. I felt like what it must be like to be slipped a Mickey in an alcoholic drink, even though I don’t drink, I could imagine that's what it would be like. I stumbled to my bed, where I passed out. I do not plan on ever taking another dose of this medication."

Indocin SR (indomethacin) for Pain "For me, the medication worked fine as far as reducing the inflammation. My inflammation was in one of my eyes, and it did relieve the inflammation, but the side effects, wow. I have been drowsy off and on and had terrible stomach pains. For me, I added this to my do not take list, but for someone who is not taking it every day, probably would not have as much stomach upset. I took it every day for almost two weeks. Too long for something that is hard on someone's stomach."

For Bursitis "I use this drug mainly for back pain and sometimes arthritis. I think I have bursitis, and I took this along with a Tramadol 50 and was amazed at how it made the pain almost disappear. Indomethacin is a very old drug, has been around for a long time, and sometimes does hurt your stomach, but I haven't had that problem. I wish more doctors would prescribe it. Just because it's old doesn't mean it doesn't work... just like the rest of us, lol."

For Gout, Acute "Been suffering from biannual gout attacks for the last 5-6 years. Most painful thing I’ve ever dealt with. Indomethacin is the best drug so far. Relieves pain in hours. I went from not being able to walk to being able to limp around within 3-4 hours. It gives me some stomach pain and nausea, but that’s a small price to pay to relieve gout pain."

Indocin (indomethacin) for Tendonitis "Cost me $100 for 30 pills. Took them for 3 days, then threw the rest away. Worked like battery acid and tore my stomach up."
