Diflucan (fluconazole) for Vaginal Yeast Infection "It is unbelievable how wonderful this medicine is for yeast infections! I went to the doctor for a urinary tract infection and also had symptoms of redness, burning, itching, and swelling. It was the worst ever! Took 1 pill and already noticed results in just a few hours! It is a miracle."

Diflucan (fluconazole) for Candida Urinary Tract Infection "Okay, umm... I was diagnosed with candida in 2014 and was given different antifungals, which seemed to work for the meantime. Then, in 2015, I had a reinfection, symptoms were similar to the last one. So, Diflucan was recommended: 150 mg single dose and ketoconazole cream. On taking the single dose of Diflucan, I got a lot better after 3 hours, it was such a relief. The itching, burning, and inflammation stopped. This is 2020, and I am currently on another dose, and it's working perfectly... I recommend this drug 100%."

Diflucan (fluconazole) for Vaginal Yeast Infection "I have taken this medication before, so not sure if something with my body chemistry changed or this medication composition has changed. My experience was a severe allergic reaction causing swelling to my face and lips, with blistering and sores inside my mouth that were extremely painful. I was given a steroid shot and high dosages of prednisone. On day 5, the swelling has just started to go down, but the sores inside my mouth and the scabs on my lips are horrible. I will not take this medication again."

Diflucan (fluconazole) for Vaginal Yeast Infection "Have taken sporadically for a yeast infection. Seemed to work, but I broke out in hives. It took me a bit to figure it out because I’d take 1 pill maybe once a year. It didn’t register. Well, now I know! I took 1 pill in March, 1 pill in July, and thought, huh, I wonder if fluconazole. Took 1 pill yesterday and paid attention!!! Yep! Ugh! Hives and allergic reaction not on the list! I get hives, my knuckle swells on 1 finger, and it is painful. It blisters and finally pops and heals on its own. Each time it is worse. Now my lips are swollen, and hives on palms and on skin by thumb. My hands are so dry. NEVER AGAIN WILL I TAKE THIS fluconazole!!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I had a severe bladder infection and a yeast infection at the same time. It was so bad I couldn’t walk, the burning and the pain were unbearable. The doctor prescribed me antibiotics for the UTI and I took Monistat for the yeast infection, but the swelling was so bad I couldn’t even sit. Finally, I called my doctor in bed for Diflucan, and within one hour of taking it, everything started to settle down."

Diflucan (fluconazole) for Vaginal Yeast Infection "I took Diflucan last year, and my vaginal yeast infection cleared up in a day, no allergic reactions. I recently needed to take it again earlier this year, and my upper lip became swollen with a tiny sore/blister on the underside of my lip. The right side of my face was also slightly swollen and numb. The pharmacist didn’t think it was related to Diflucan because I hadn’t had a reaction before. Well, was she wrong! I had to take it again a couple of days ago, and the exact allergic reaction returned (which I realize is most likely a Fixed Drug Eruption). This time, my upper lip is much worse, with a sore in the same spot, and it’s taking longer to disappear. Both times I’ve been taking antihistamines to help. If you experience an allergic reaction after taking Diflucan, think very carefully about taking it again."

Diflucan (fluconazole) for Vaginal Yeast Infection "Was prescribed this medication after BV treatment, and the next day, lip was swollen & itching. Lip swelled to the point it was tight and shiny. Eating was unbearable. Woke up with a blister that has since popped, and now I have an open sore and scabs. I WILL NOT EVER TAKE THIS MEDICATION AGAIN!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I’m now on day three of my yeast infection. On day two, I avoided OTC products and visited a doctor. I was prescribed two doses of fluconazole. The first to be taken immediately; the second, three days later. It took roughly 24 hours to kick in. I did notice the medication made it worse before getting better. I’m happy to report on this third day … the itching, burning, and inflammation have lessened drastically. I’m hoping the second dose knocks it out completely. Additional tips that seem to be helping my recovery process: Tylenol, drinking lots of water, urinating frequently, cleaning the infected area with water after urinating (literally pouring from a water bottle over the toilet), drying the infected area (this is keeping my vagina dry and aids the yeast in not spreading), and not consuming yeast products. I hope this helps!"

Diflucan (fluconazole) for Vaginal Yeast Infection "I suffer from yeast infections quite frequently, especially while being on my depo birth control shot and being more sexually active. In the past, Diflucan did the trick in 24 hours (I learned Monistat does NOTHING for me!). As I suffer from them almost every other month, if not every month, I believe I have built a resistance to the medication. I began needing two pills prescribed at a time for an effective solution. Just a few days ago, I received a pack of 3. My symptoms feel almost worse than before getting the prescription. I didn't drink much water and also had sex after taking the pill day 2, but I took the last pill yesterday, and my vagina is raw and swollen as well as itchy. I also feel my period beginning. I hate this confusion about my body."

Diflucan (fluconazole) for Candidemia "I recently found out that I'm allergic to fluconazole. I have been taking this medication for years with no side effects, but within the last year, every time I take it, my lip swells and feels like ants or needles are in it. Then my lip will get like a cold sore on it, and after it heals, it remains black."

Diflucan (fluconazole) for Vaginal Yeast Infection "I am always prescribed this drug when I get a yeast infection. The past 3 times I have taken it, it causes a couple of my fingers to swell and itch. By the next day, I always have a blister on my finger! I have developed an allergy to this medication. I will never take it again!!!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I have chronic yeast infections. At first, I used Monistat, and my vag became so swollen I couldn't close my legs without it hurting, I was like that for 3 days. I went to the doctor, and he finally gave me Diflucan, and I've used it 3 times in the past, and it worked very quickly every time. But I have a yeast infection again, and I took Diflucan at about 6 PM, and it's now 1:32 AM. I'm awake crying because the itching has gotten worse, and it's almost like I'm dripping discharge. This has never happened before. I'm just hoping it's a sign that the pill is clearing my vag of the infection..."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Last night, 4/3/19, I had another prescription refill of fluconazole, 1 pill, 150 mg. I had previously taken a dose two weeks before this one. That dose I took had my lip tingling and itching a little. I ignored it. So last night, after I took fluconazole around 8:30 p.m., my lips started tingling again, but this time it was MUCH WORSE! Not only my lips, my whole body felt as if a swarm of mosquitoes were attacking. I looked in the mirror: lips swollen and red with little red bumps, face starting to swell. I took two Benadryl, and now I feel much better. I let my doc know I had a severe allergic reaction to fluconazole."

For Candidemia "Do NOT take this medicine! I want to first start off by saying, this medicine fluconazole 150 mg, 3 rounds is terrible! I had no idea I was having an allergic reaction to this medication. I was prescribed this medicine, and it did nothing to help my yeast infection!! It caused the sides of my tongue to swell and caused it to burn and be very sore. I got checked twice for every single STD! All negative! It caused me to break out in hives and I'm still experiencing symptoms of allergic reaction, including dry mouth and slightly swollen lump nodes under my arms! The worst medication on the market! The side effects of this medicine are not even listed! I believe I’m going to sue the company for lack of knowledge of reactions! Be very cautious of this medicine before taking! It's an absolute nightmare for me!!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I'm 18 years old. Over the course of this month, I've contracted a really bad UTI (which I have yet to get rid of), but had also been diagnosed with a yeast infection. Was prescribed this medicine, but when that didn't help, I was then diagnosed with BV. The antibiotics from that and the UTI, of course, gave me a horrible, wretched yeast infection. Went to the ER and was prescribed Diflucan again, and now (4 hours later) there is still swelling and irritation, but there is no itching at all."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I get frequent yeast infections after sex, and this is literally a miracle pill! I don’t understand why it’s not available over the counter, as it works way better than Monistat or any other cream, in my opinion. I get very intense itching, swelling, pain, and soreness in my vaginal area when I have a yeast infection, and this literally takes my symptoms away within 24 hours. Sometimes the itching gets more intense, but the next day it’s gone, and I tend to get white discharge (I assume it’s the yeast coming out?). I then take one more pill 72 hours later, and all my symptoms are gone. Please, please, please try this if you have a yeast infection, it’s honestly amazing, and I haven’t noticed any side effects at all. I need it to become over the counter."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This was my first yeast infection. The medicine worked quickly to clear the yeast infection, but I woke up the morning after taking the pill with a puffy, warm face. That went away later in the day. Later in the week, I had stomach cramping. I did speak with a nurse at my doctor's office, and she said the medicine wouldn't cause that. It was the only thing different in my routine, so I'm pretty sure it was the medicine. I don't think I'd ever want to take this again."

For Candidemia "As others have also previously reported here, I too had used this medication prior with no reactions. However, in 2020, I had an anaphylactic reaction to this medication that included hives all over my torso, neck, and swelling of my throat. I had to self-admit to the emergency room and get put on IV to get the swelling down and reverse these severe reactions. Certainly, NOT impressed that the company does NOT list these as possible side effects at all! They must've changed something in this medication to cause so many to react to it. DO NOT TAKE THIS!"

For Candida Urinary Tract Infection "Took 1 pill (150 mg) and a few days later got terrible abdominal pain, testicular pain, headache, and dizziness. Three weeks later, I still have dizziness and minor testicular pain and swelling. The side effects are worse than the original symptoms. I would avoid this drug. It should not be over the counter and should be prescription only."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I have taken Canesten's fluconazole one-day pill, 150 mg many times before. Now in my late 20s, it seems I have developed an allergic reaction to this drug. I took it two months ago, and it only made my symptoms worse, in addition to sores on my tongue. I didn't think much of it and took it again two days ago to treat another YI. This time, what I experienced last time came back worse, with itching, burning, and rashes in my hands/fingers. Two of my fingers swelled up so bad that I went to the ER to check it out. They didn't seem to believe that I was allergic to the medication and diagnosed me with dactylitis (sausage fingers, lol). But I know my body better and know this was because of the fluconazole, and it seems I'm not the only one. I'm on day two, and the swelling has subsided a bit but has formed into large blisters on my fingers. Itching and redness are still present, my tongue is still sore, and my outer vagina is still irritated. This pill is awful."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I am allergic to this drug. Within 10-30 minutes of taking it, I feel extremely intense itching in my vaginal area. It becomes swollen, irritated, and very itchy. The first time it happened, I did not realize it was the drug, went to the doctor, and was tested and treated for any potential STIs. Ten days later, the doctor checks and sees I have thrush (I was not itchy, so I didn’t know). Advises OTC medication. I took the drug a second time, and again within 10-30 minutes, I have extreme itching, swelling, and irritation. That’s when it clicked that I was having a reaction. The pharmacist recommended an antihistamine and ice to the area. This helped, but I did ice for a full day and night and had to take a repeat antihistamine the following day. Still not 100%, mild itching, but I’m hoping the fluconazole will do its thing and I’ll be back to normal in a couple more days. I would not have this drug again."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I got a prescription to treat a vaginal yeast infection I've had for 2 weeks. On Friday, I took my first pill. I didn't see any changes right away, like a lot of people say they do. The next morning, Saturday, some of the itching went away, but it was still severe with swelling. Today is Sunday, I took my last dose. The itching and redness seemed worse than before when I woke up this morning. I took my last dose about 10 PM, it is now 1:30, and I don't feel any symptoms of the yeast. I still feel swollen, and I'm red down there. Hopefully, my last dose will knock this out. I do have a problem with constantly feeling gassy and having stomach pains when I take this medication. It also gives me diarrhea."
