"I started taking Estarylla after I had my baby because the pharmacy changed my prescription. It has been working for me even if I don’t take it at the same time every day. Also, my periods have been very regular and light. I don’t cramp as much and as badly as I used to. I might have a little acne, but nothing serious. I have not experienced any other side effects besides a little extra discharge. I would recommend this medication."

"What a horrible medication!!! I started taking this pill after my 2nd baby. I noticed mood swings, but I thought it was just my hormones after having a baby. But it got worse. After a month of being on this pill, I was either angry or sad all the time, very unhappy. I refused to believe that it could be depression, but I started to find myself crying in my room alone, anxious, just not feeling myself. That is not all. I thought I had some kind of stomach virus for a month, and it wasn't going away: nauseous, vomiting, dizziness, and severe headache. It felt like a stroke waiting to happen. Do not take this pill!!!"

"I've only been on this pill for about a week, and every morning I'd wake up with a headache. I caught myself always having an attitude, and when I'm alone, I'd just cry for no reason. I wouldn't take this pill."

"For reference, I am 18 years old, and this would be my first ever birth control. I looked up reviews and am imminently terrified to start the pack. I actually did not start the pack until two weeks ago because of the reviews I've read on here. I did have a talk with my boyfriend, and he reassured me that if I keep thinking negatively about it, then I will have a negative outcome, so I started the pack two weeks ago. On the first day of taking the pill, I felt extremely nauseous, but it went away a couple of hours later, and this is common for people starting birth control, so I had no worries. So far, the only side effects I've had are that I've realized that I'm eating more (increased appetite), which I didn't mind because I've started going to the gym. I've also had a higher sex drive. Overall, definitely try this birth control! Everyone and every body is different, and you never know!"

"I’m finishing up my 2nd pack now of Estarylla, and thought I’d write a review! This is the first birth control I’ve ever used, by the way. The only negative effect I’ve experienced has been nausea. It seems to come 6-10 hours after I take the pill and comes in waves. It's not every day, and thankfully when it does happen, it starts around the time I go to bed or very late in the morning (I take it at 6 pm and work third shift). Honestly, if I felt nauseous at work or during the day, it would be uncomfortable. Other than that, I enjoy this pill. I used to have a heavy period that lasted 7 days, but last month, the first 2 days I was spotting, and the next 4 I had a light/regular flow. I haven’t seen any other positive effects (clear skin, reduced body hair), but hopefully that will come."

"I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for about 4 years, then they made this generic, and it's awful. I was already nervous, considering there have been minimal positive reviews. I had no option but to switch. My mood swings are awful, I am constantly angry. It makes me sick and makes my whole body tingle. DO NOT TAKE THIS! I will be calling my doctor to get off this pill. I refuse to finish the month, it seems to only be getting worse. So once again... Do not take these tablets."

"I was switched to Estarylla last year after my pharmacy stopped carrying MonoNessa. Have had zero issues whatsoever—never experienced anything the other reviewers are mentioning. Seamless transition from my previous birth control, no side effects, and my cycle is very regular. It’s supposedly supposed to help with acne, but I haven’t noticed a huge difference in my skin, so I can't vouch for that, but as a birth control, it works perfectly, and I have zero complaints!"

"I have been on at least four different brands of birth control over the last 5 years of my life, and this has hands down been the worst one. I increased the amount of estrogen I was taking and started this birth control to help me with the hormonal acne I was getting around my chin and lips. It only got worse the week before my period. In addition, my anxiety got so bad I had my first panic attack. Everyone has different reactions to medication, and this was mine. At least it kept me from getting pregnant."

"My pharmacy doesn't carry the Sprintect birth control that I have been using for the past 5 1/2 years anymore and switched me to Estarylla and said, 'It is exactly the same thing.' I have been taking it for 12 days. The acne I have gotten in the past 12 days is out of control. Deep, cystic acne that I have never experienced in my life, all over my face and down my neck and arms. I am 26 years old, and I have pubescent acne all of a sudden. My mood swings have been horrible, and I am exhausted at the end of the day. My poor husband has been avoiding me. I called my doctor today and am switching to a pharmacy that carries the brand I used before Estarylla. I wish I would have done a little research on this pill before taking it!"

"My pharmacy switched from Sprintec to Estarylla. I've taken it for less than a month. I've had breakthrough bleeding since mid-cycle. I've gained 6 pounds, and my overall mood is terrible. I've called my doc and asked them to prescribe something else. I will not take Estarylla going forward."

"I was on Estarylla for 3 1/2 months. I had never taken any birth control before starting it. I got bad cramping and heavy spotting in between periods. In the short amount of time taking Estarylla, I gained about 30 pounds without changing my diet or exercising or any other lifestyle changes. I literally went up two pant sizes, and I was so bloated. My moods were completely uncomfortable, and I didn’t even feel like myself. I am still trying to lose the weight, and it’s been 8 months off of all birth control."

"I gave Estarylla a 1 because of my side effects since starting it. The only good thing I can say about it is that I did not become pregnant while on it. Changed insurance last year, and new insurance changed me to Mononessa. Remained normal with my period right on track. Four months ago, insurance changed me again to Estarylla. Since starting Estarylla, I have had extreme weight gain, increased gas to the point of constantly being bloated, very dry skin and acne, mood swings, crying about things that wouldn't bother me normally, increased depression, anxiety, and cramping in my legs. My period became completely off track after years of being balanced. For 4 months, I have not known what day I would start, and either heavy or so light, from 3 to 7 days, and the worst cramps of my life. Went to my GYN last week, and she told me I should have called her sooner. Told her I was trying to give it a fair shot. She changed me to something else, and I can't wait to start it. Estarylla has made me miserable! If you have another option, try that first."

"This will be the 6th month I've been on Estarylla, but I'm going to stop taking it and find another birth control. Although it's done its job with preventing pregnancy, this certain pill makes me much more emotionally unstable. Before taking it, I was a social and overall happy person, but now I get upset over the most insignificant things, push people away, and feel anxious/sad more often than I'm happy. :( It's even affected my relationship with my boyfriend because he thinks I'm always sad around him, but it's just this dang pill messing with my emotions! I know medications affect people differently, but from seeing the other reviews, just be warned that this pill can increase depression, mood swings, anxiety, etc."

"Anxiety, depression, and fatigue! Been taking this medication for 2 weeks and my energy level dropped dramatically. Breast pain was severe. Trouble breathing because of the anxiety, and I actually experienced a panic attack! This medication is dangerous for me, and for some people, it cannot be safe to take!"

"My pharmacy replaced Sprintec (the best birth control) with Estarylla because they said it was the same formula. I have been on it for about 10 months now, and I gained 10 pounds. After reading reviews, I realized it has made me moodier and made my anxiety worse. But hey, I never got pregnant... If you have any sort of anxiety/depression, this is not the pill for you. I just got prescribed a lower dose of birth control called Lo Loestrin Fe, so we will see how that goes."

"I have been on Estarylla for almost 4 months now, and I have never felt like this in my life. Like many people on here as well, I was switched from Mononessa (which worked very well for me!) by either the pharmacy or my insurance without telling me beforehand. I have had several legitimate panic attacks, I have an unreasonable amount of anger and irritation, and feel so depressed that I no longer feel that I deserve love. When I first noticed I was put on this, I saw that many people did not enjoy the side effects, but I wanted to give it a solid 3 months to see how I truly responded to it. I can say with confidence now that it is not worth ANYONE trying. There are so many other birth control options, try anything else before this one. I feel that if I were to continue on this medication for much longer, I would begin to have suicidal thoughts, that's how bad this is. Please, do not take this medication."

"Felt the need to come on here and say something positive about this pill! I was on Tri-Nessa for about a year and was beyond happy with it. I started birth control with Mono-Nessa and broke out horribly in hormonal cystic acne. Tri-Nessa cleared my face, however, I unfortunately still deal with scars. One month, my pharmacy handed me Estarylla instead of my normal Tri-Nessa, and I was worried sick. After experiencing horrible acne and finally finding a pill that worked for me, the last thing I wanted to do was switch up again, especially after reading these reviews. I decided to try it out for a month, and much to my relief, it works out GREAT! My skin looks even better than before, and the only thing I have noticed has been moodier PMS."

"Okay, let me just start with the first point. I do not like this birth control. I was originally on TriNessa Lo for a while and didn’t really seem to have any serious problems with it at all. Now, just this month, I was switched to Estarylla and didn’t seem bothered by it at first, but once I hit the last week of my active pills, it was downhill from there. I have had severe anxiety and depression. Don’t want to do anything. I overthink everything. Feel like my chest is tight and have shortness of breath because of the anxiety and couldn’t seem to feel my emotions. This went on from Sunday to now, Saturday. 7 full days!!! I’m going to call my doctor this week and hopefully be able to be changed to a different brand or back to my old one."

"I went off birth control this past year after 10 years because I was having low libido. But I had to go back on birth control because of irregular periods. I went on Estarylla the 1st week of April 2020. The 1st month wasn't bad, only a little decrease. Now it's month 2, and my libido is the worst EVER. I can't even have an orgasm at all. It's like someone turned off my clitoris, there is just zero feeling. I haven't had sex all of May. I don't want to continue Estarylla. So, PROS: clear skin! I don't notice a difference in depression/mood swings. I've only been on this for 2 months, meaning only 1 period, but I didn't have bad cramping/PMS. CONS: the non-existent sex drive, and my period was heavy and 6 long days. Slight nausea in week 1 of the pills during both months I've taken it. If my sex drive was in a more normal range while taking this, I would 100% stay on it, all other side effects are not bad at all. I know it's from this birth control. The past year while I was off birth control, my libido/sexual pleasure was much better."

"I have had a terrible time on this! I'm not taking any more after this month. Emotionally, I have been everywhere from crying over everything to wanting to be alone all the time. Depression has been awful, and my boobs have been sore for a month. Everyone keeps telling me I'm all of a sudden acting crazy, and I believe it. I definitely don't recommend this pill!"

"I had a missed miscarriage almost 3 months ago, and my body has been having a hard time getting back into the swing of things, so my Dr. prescribed this pill. I'm only two weeks into it, and it is one of the best pills I've ever had. My fiancé has noticed that I become more irritable lately, and I have a bit of acne, but my bloating and cramping have gone away, and I have had no problem with cravings or weight gain. I just increased my intake of water, and I feel fine. So far, I can tell that it is helping tremendously by regulating my cycles and hormone levels again. Everyone's body is different. Don't trust the reviews. Be open with your doctor and let them decide what's best for you."

"I was on Mononessa for over a decade, I believe. Suddenly, the manufacturer stopped production of this product, and I was forced to take the generic, Estarylla. I am on my second day of the placebo pills, month one, and I have already noticed a drastic change in myself. I am extremely moody and emotional-crying at the dumbest things. I have never been so bloated before my period in my entire life as I have this month and have NEVER experienced such bad cramping while on my period and on any birth control. I have spent years getting my weight under control-I am very mindful of my food intake-and I am gaining a great deal of weight without changing my diet at all. I thought I would give this more time because I thought I was just being crazy about blaming this pill for all my issues recently. After reading these reviews, I am certain this pill has had all of these negative effects on me. I will NOT be starting another month of this pill."

"I’ve been taking Mononessa for about two years when my pharmacy switched me to Estarylla without a heads up. I’ve only been on this new pill for 5 days, and I already hate it. I have the most uncomfortable/painful constant itching on my vulva, paired with nausea every time I take the pill. I’ve been extremely on edge and grumpy. I can’t wait to switch. Would not recommend."

"I was on this pill when my local Walgreens stopped selling Milli, and this is by far the worst birth control in the world! I would get super bad migraines near my period, I would always be angry and anxious. Also, my periods were 6 days and heavy? I had cramps throughout every single week of the pill pack except the week after my period. Absolutely terrible! I have had a high heart rate from this pill. I am switched over to another pill now, so we will see what happens. DO NOT take this pill."

"Been on Estarylla for a few months now and have had little to no problems. I was on Mono-Linyah before, which sometimes caused me to pass large tissue chunks during my period (that freaked me out). But so far, so good with Estarylla. The first month, I bled pretty randomly, which was kind of annoying, but that’s expected when starting any birth control, I think. Sometimes I get a tiny bit of spotting if I skip when my period should be. But nothing more than that. My skin is normal, my weight is normal. I think the only thing is that I am more sweaty and have to load up on deodorant more than I had to before."
