"In April of 2019, I started Norethindrone. I experienced bleeding almost every two weeks, so I asked my doctor what I should do. She changed me to Estarylla in September. Within two months, my periods were regular again. Like clockwork, my period starts on the Wednesday of my “period week” and usually lasts until Sunday or Monday. Also, I used to get migraines very often, and now I rarely get them. I do have to say that I take my pills in the morning at 7:30 without eating, and I do experience slight nausea around 2-3 occasionally. Other than that, I’ve had a positive response to this medicine."

"First birth control I have ever tried, and I love it so far. I've been on it for a few months. I noticed on here it has a lot of negative reviews, like people say everyone's body is different. Just as insight, I'm 19 years old and around 155 pounds. This birth control did not make me gain or lose weight. I noticed I haven't gotten as much acne since I started. My skin is almost completely clear. The only negative side effect that I really noticed and that my bf noticed as well is that I've gotten more irritable and emotional around the days I'm about to get my period, something that didn't happen to me before. Honestly, this isn't a terrible side effect for me personally, it's extremely bearable. I would definitely recommend this pill."

"Estarylla is the first brand of birth control I tried, and I'm finally changing my BC pills now. I hate the way these pills made me feel. At first, I didn't realize what was going on with me, I was thinking I'm going crazy in my own head. Severe mood swings, I felt depressed all the time. My anxiety got WAY worse. I'm finally getting off these pills. The good part is my period got regular, and my cramps are not as bad, but I can't do Estarylla anymore. I do not recommend this brand to any girl. If you want to stay happy and enjoy your life."

"I have only been using Estarylla for a month now, and within this month, it has been the WORST! It has dried my skin, especially my hands and around my mouth. I have been spotting this whole time, and it has caused BAD mood swings. I have gone into deep depression, had really dark thoughts. My attitude has been horrible, especially my emotions. I'll cry after having a moment of dark thoughts, and it's just a cycle. I have lost my appetite. The medicine has given me a yeast infection as well. Everybody's body is different, but I do not recommend this medication."

"I was on Mononessa for almost three years and was switched to this pill. I enjoy it! I didn’t have any side effects, and my period isn’t as long and heavy as it was on Mononessa. I had a little dry patch of skin on my face I normally never get. Not sure if it’s from the pill or just the cold weather, but I exfoliated and moisturized, and it’s gone. My skin did not break out, I didn’t gain weight, and I feel fine. It’s always worth a shot to try it because everyone’s body is different."

"I already struggle with depression/anxiety, but this birth control made it SO much worse. I couldn’t figure out for the longest time what was wrong with me, so, so angry and everyone, but yet so sad. I have been feeling like I’m going crazy. So done with this medicine. Never again!!"

"I'm at the Dr. now to refill this birth control medication, and I couldn't remember the name, so I called my pharmacy and then Googled it since I was waiting. I can't believe the bad reviews, but everyone's body is different. I've been on this BC for 2 years now, starting my third. I used to break out, and I haven't had one pimple since starting this medication. I haven't gained any weight or experienced any type of emotional side effects. I love it and will continue using it."

"Definitely a horrible birth control. Started it 2 months ago, and I have put on weight, irregular spotting in between periods. Most of all, my mood swings have been so bad. Makes me feel bipolar. I cry over everything and get so mad. Even feel depressed. Was on Tri-Previfem for years and didn’t have any side effects. Switching back next week. Pharmacists claim they’re all the same ingredients included, but I disagree."

"I’ve been on this pill for about a year now. I stopped taking it for a while and noticed that my mood had lifted and I was overall a happier person. I do think that all birth control pills can make you feel sad and depressed, but I think that Estarylla really amplified those feelings. I didn’t find it to clear up my acne, and I did gain weight. I would say this pill is average, but I’m hoping to find something better."

"This medicine is the devil! If you want to feel paranoid, confused, like the worst bitch, anxious, and destroy every relationship that's dear to you-> take this stuff! I guarantee at least you won't get pregnant! I smashed up and flushed all my pills today because I can't take this rubbish anymore!"

"I have been on Estarylla for about a year and a few months now and I'm about to stop taking it now because it's simply too much for my mental health. The pill works wonderfully at preventing pregnancy and it cleared my acne, my breasts grew, and I did not gain weight. However, during my cycle on the pill, I get so anxious and depressed. It feels as if I have no energy or sex drive. Things that usually make me happy, I feel numb to. But, when I'm on placebo week - wow, I feel amazing. I feel free. Obviously, everyone is different but personally, I feel horrible (mentally) while I'm on it."

"I started taking Estarylla about a month ago, and I had been taking birth control for almost 6 months now, but my brand got changed. I was taking Femynor with no problems at all, but about a month ago, I experienced very bad bloating, stomach pains, constipation, nausea, and loss of appetite. When my period came, the symptoms didn’t change. Now, on my second month, the symptoms are starting to ease. I’m still taking it. I read about the side effects on the box, and nothing I’m experiencing is on the box, but reading all these reviews, I should talk to my doctor about changing my brand."

"I had a negative experience with this pill. I took it for a year, and while it effectively served the purpose of preventing pregnancy, that's the only positive thing I have to say about it. I experienced side effects of depression and suicidal thoughts, anxiety and a panic attack, frequent breakthrough bleeding, breast tenderness, and weight gain of 10 pounds. I am not prone to weight gain and haven't had this issue or emotional issues with the other 2 birth control pills I've taken. I would advise extreme caution in proceeding with taking this pill. I should have read the reviews before I took it."

"I started this birth control, Estarylla, after I got my IUD out. I hated the IUD, so after 2 years, I got it removed. I wanted a birth control that helped with acne because I have PCOS, and with that comes stupid hormonal acne. :( I am on month 3 of Estarylla, and I think I’m starting to hate it. The first 2 months were good, it actually helped my acne. Now, on my 2nd week of the pack, my chin broke out so bad! My boobs are sore, and I’m super depressed. I don’t take any other meds, so I know it has to be this birth control. I also get nauseous. Honestly, I think the side effects outweigh the benefits! Everyone’s different, but for myself, I do not recommend this med."

"I was prescribed Estarylla, and it was my first experience with birth control! The first two months were fine. I had a short and lighter period the first month, BUT experienced insane emotional distress. I was yelling at my boyfriend, crying over just about anything (I even cried giving a class presentation and I’m not emotional like that AT ALL). I assumed it was just my body adjusting as those extreme mood swings subsided. At the end of the second month, I got my period early and decided to finish the pack. I’ve now been bleeding for almost 2 weeks, and it is giving me extreme anxiety. I’m constantly paranoid I’m going to get blood clots and that this bleeding is irregular. It goes between what I believe to be spotting to full on needing a tampon. After reading these reviews, I have now decided to stop taking this birth control. I gave it two points because I do believe it contributed to clearing up my skin. Please beware!"

"Wow, these reviews are scary. I’ve been taking this birth control for about 6-7 months, and it never affected me that bad. I will admit the first few months you feel a little dull, but that’s just because of new hormones in your body. Hair never fell out or anything, instead, it grew crazy long, at least 7 inches. It never affected me in a negative way or made me gain weight, it actually made me lose a few 3 pounds, and if anything, made me more mature. At the end of the day, birth control, no matter what brand, affects everybody in way different ways, but for me, this didn’t affect me terribly or anything, if anything, I was doing amazing on it."

"I've been on it for 3 years with 0 side effects. It's effective in that I've never become pregnant. I haven't experienced mood swings like everyone else posted about. I never get breakouts. The only reason I've gained 10 lbs in the last 3 years is from CrossFit, and it was muscle. I have absolutely no complaints with Estarylla."

"These reviews definitely gave me mixed feelings, but I'm already one week in. The only side effects I've had so far is during my 2nd-4th day I was EXTREMELY nauseous, especially a few hours after I took the medication, but that resolved itself within a week and I'm having no current side effects. I'm taking it for hormone regulation to ease PMS symptoms because they worsen my psych issues (mainly BPD symptoms and ASD overstimulation) LIKE CRAZY. I also wanted a more regular period, so I'll leave another review within the next few months. Also from what I've read, it seems like a lot of people who had a bad experience was given it as a replacement for another birth control pill. This is the first one I've ever taken. I'd say give it a try because it might work out for you."

"I was originally on Sprintec, then switched to Estarylla so I didn’t have to pay every month for birth control. I experienced weight gain at first, but once my body got used to the hormones, my weight dropped down back to normal (but my boobs did get bigger, so that’s a plus). I was so shocked to read all the negative reviews. I haven’t really ever had any problems on this birth control, no pregnancy scares, and my period is extremely regular. The only thing that’s annoying is that my period continues for an extra 3 days, and it’s just really light spotting, but that also happened before I started birth control. My periods were extremely heavy, I’m talking bleeding through an ultra tampon after 3 hours, and now it is so much better. I do still have cramps, but they are so much better than they were prior to birth control."

"I have never in my life had acne, but ever since I have been taking Estarylla tablets 28s, I have acne, and my period doesn't come on time, it comes 4 days late. I always take it at the same time every day and never miss a day. I would NOT recommend it to anyone."

"I've been on this birth control for about six months, and I've had no problems. My acne has cleared up. I have no cramps or any tenderness in my breasts before or after my period. And it's been really good for my headaches, and I suggest that you take this pill after you eat dinner, it just seems to help me much better."

"I've taken this pill for one month, and so far the first week I was absolutely fine. Then the second week I started to be a little bit down, and then the third week I literally cried at least three times a day. I became very tired, and I had no motivation to do anything. I slept 12-14 hours, or I didn't sleep at all. I've been angry and irritable over the slightest things. I am 15, and normally I'm a very bubbly, positive, energetic person, and I don't even feel like me anymore. I've been really depressed. I'm very highly disappointed with this pill. It was the first birth control I've ever used. I used it to regulate my period, so far it's done its job I suppose, however, the side effects and mood that I've been in are most certainly not worth it. Don't take it."

"For the love of God, do not take this medicine. MOOD SWINGS ARE NONSTOP. My poor boyfriend tried to tell me they started since I got on this pill. I didn't believe him until I read reviews and realized everyone who takes this has the same problem. I started this on the first Sunday, which just happened to be the first day of my period. I've been on my period every week since I started taking this, and I took the first sugar pill 3 days ago, and now the bleeding is severe. My acne is awful, and my boobs doubled in size from swelling. They don't even want to stay inside my bra. Do not take this. Please."

"This medication does prevent pregnancy for me. It cleared my acne and made my periods lighter. However, it gave me mood swings, extremely sore nipples, high irritability, loss of sex drive, and decreased my appetite. I've been miserable. I don't get cramps during my period, but now during ovulation, I get slight cramps. Every month I swear I'm pregnant because of the side effects, but I get my period. I'm almost done with month 4, and I'm thinking of stopping."

"I'm so glad I decided to Google this medication and found these reviews. I thought I was going NUTS! My hormones are out of control on this medication. Like others, my pharmacy switched me to Estarylla from Sprintec. I was fine on the Sprintec, but on this stuff - I've had HORRIBLE mood swings, my acne is out of control, spotting, nausea, weight gain, headaches. I thought I was pregnant! I'll be switching as soon as I can."
