"I am about halfway through my first pill pack, and I am having pretty good success so far. This is my first time taking birth control, but so far there have been no side effects and no real changes. Reading the reviews here had me worried, but so far for me, everything seems to be fine. I guess I'll have to report back in a few months."

"I got a severe leg blood clot (DVT) and lung blood clots (PE) from this birth control. I have been on it for a couple of months, and it has been confirmed by hematologists that I received my blood clots from this birth control. I would hate for anyone else to have to go through the pain and suffering I have from taking this pill. DO NOT TAKE."

"I started this pill exactly 1 month ago, and I absolutely love it. I've been on birth control twice before, and Estarylla is definitely my favorite one. The only side effect I’ve had is being emotional towards my boyfriend and friends, nothing extreme. I haven’t noticed any weight gain or loss. I see everyone is having different reactions to this pill, but it totally works for me!"

"Okay, I was really nervous to take Estarylla because of all the bad reviews, and I normally take Trinessa. Anyway, after I ran out of Trinessa, I decided to put on my big girl jeans and try out Estarylla. If the pill was going to be bad for me, I was going to stop taking it and request another birth control. When I took the first pill, I had a slight headache, but I still went to all my classes. By my third pill, I think I had a little depression, but I couldn't tell if it was the pill or just my college classes being tough on me. Regardless, I still got my work and extracurricular activities done. Currently, I'm on Week 3, and I'm still alive!!! No headache, stomach pains, depression. I'm good. I think you, reader, need to be reminded that our body reacts differently to certain medications. Also, my acne isn't bad either, my face is actually clearing up. Just know every little pill is different. Good luck!"

"I started taking the pill form of birth control at the age of 16 and stopped at 23 when I experienced a pulmonary embolism in my lung due to this drug that almost killed me. On top of the blood clot, I had severe acute necrotizing pneumonia (which I believe I contracted due to the dead lung tissue from the blood clot). I was in the best shape of my life in terms of fitness: a Muay Thai martial artist and a recreational bodybuilding weightlifter. My fitness and my youth saved my life. I was the sickest patient in the ICU step-down. I still have PTSD. Think twice if you want to take this birth control. There are much safer options (such as the Mirena IUD that I am now on). My gyno also had me on years of Premarin, which I had stopped taking months prior to my blood clot. Regardless of the Premarin boosting my chances, it is still not worth the risk by taking this drug. Avoid taking this at all costs and use a safer birth control option that is non-systemic. It’s rare until it happens to you."

"The first month of taking the Estarylla birth control was fine. However, by the second month, I had gained about 10 lbs. No problems with acne, it actually helped to clear it up. Boobs were a little bigger, which was nice. HOWEVER!!!!! This birth control COMPLETELY dried up my vagina. Like literally bone dry. I have never had this problem with any birth control I've ever taken. Could not even get lubricated during self-pleasure. ALSO, I had spotting/breakthrough bleeding literally the entire time I was on this birth control, which I've never experienced before. Even if I took it consistently every day at the same time, I was bleeding almost every day. This birth control was a complete and total nightmare for those reasons. It had a huge negative impact on my sex life and self-confidence. The 3/10 was given simply because it cleared my skin and gave me (slightly) bigger boobs (probably due to weight gain). Do not recommend."

"I was on this pill for a little over a year. It cleared my acne very well, it worked perfectly to prevent pregnancy (noted that I NEVER missed a pill and was NEVER more than 3 hours late). I never had any negative side effects with this pill. The only thing that it did not solve was my awful period cramps. It did lessen my heavy bleeding, though."

"Absolutely the worst BC I’ve been on in my 13+ years. I will refuse to accept this when I go in for a refill. This has given me horrible cramps, headache, breast pain and tenderness, mood swings, nausea, and has killed my sex drive. Definitely no way to get pregnant on this if you never want to do anything, so I guess it works in that aspect. STAY AWAY. I wish I would have known before leaving the pharmacy. I can’t wait for this to be over!"

"As far as birth control, Estarylla works. My periods are regular, and there is no spotting between them. As far as everything else, this pill is horrible. For the longest time, I have not been able to figure out what was causing my anxiety and depressive episodes. I have always battled with anxiety, but this pill has made it so much worse. As soon as I stopped taking it, I was anxiety-free (outside of the normal), and my sex drive increased by miles. I wouldn’t recommend this pill to anyone, especially those who struggle with anxiety. Never again."

"I am in the fifth month of taking Estarylla. The reviews are scary, but just like a restaurant, most people only post when they are upset. Most people also have underlying issues. So let's start. PROS: you will always know when your period is, and you can even plan your period, which is nice for birthdays, vacations, etc. You will always have your period during the last week of the pills (the green row). Periods are lighter. Easy to swallow. No mood swings, or weight gain, no cravings (with my last birth control, I was munching every 2 hours, even waking up in the middle of the night with my stomach growling), no breakouts, and no annoying doctor appointments to get injected with something, or have something removed/adjusted. Most importantly, you can stop when you want, and my favorite, you still get your period. Now that I'm older, I feel like a period is needed to detox your body. This pill is pretty easy, you have to let your body get adjusted to the hormones, so of course the first weeks or even months, there are little things."

"I started this birth control about a month ago after switching from the generic brand of Yaz (Loryna, I believe), and I am about to finish my last pack. Before taking it, I was a bit hesitant because of the many bad reviews about it. But, after a month of taking it, I am happy to say I haven’t experienced barely any negative side effects. I haven’t felt depressed or anxious, I don’t believe I’ve gained weight (although I don’t have a scale to measure myself), and I haven’t had any headaches, stomach pain, etc. I have noticed a few pimples, but I also have been slacking on my skincare routine lately. All in all, I would suggest giving this birth control a try, and don’t let the bad reviews scare you. Yes, everyone’s body is different, but you don’t know how it will affect you until you try it for yourself."

"I’ve been taking Estarylla for about 4 months now. Before this, I was taking Sprintec, and it seemed to be working just fine for me. The pharmacy changed the prescription, saying that it was the same birth control with no different side effects. Wrong!!! I am a little bit of an emotional and sensitive person as it is, but this birth control has turned me into the worst emotional wreck that I have ever been!!! I am constantly nauseous with relief very rarely. Headaches come and go, but it’s mostly the nausea, anxiety, and depression. I definitely would not recommend this birth control to any girl who wants to keep their happy spirit alive and kicking. It’s terrible."

"I have been on this pill for about 8 months now, and I go on here and read these reviews and wonder where people are getting this from. I understand everyone's body is different and reacts differently to different pills. For me, this pill cleared almost all my acne, I haven't gained weight, my super painful cramps have almost vanished, my flow isn't as heavy, the only real bad side effect I have noticed is the mood swings, but even those are not that bad. It's a great pill."

"I’ve taken Estarylla for 4 months now, and I’m getting headaches frequently, a metal taste in my mouth that comes and goes, low energy/lethargy pretty much all the time, appetite issues. Even when I’m eating well, I still don’t feel right. The week before my period had come, I had a variety of pregnancy symptoms, and I’ve had symptoms of anxiety and depression on and off. I’m not very thrilled with this birth control, and I’m thinking about either getting off of it or switching to something else."

"I've been on Estarylla 0.25 mg for a month and a half now. I've had such terrible experiences with birth control pills. But I can say there's not too much bad I can say about Estarylla other than I am nauseous as if I'm pregnant. Mornings seem to be the worst. I take my pill at night to help avoid sickness, but I'm sick regardless. But I can say it's cleared up my ache and NO CRAZY MOOD SWINGS! Thank God.. NO MORE depression, anxiety, night sweats, NO WEIGHT GAIN. I'm waiting on period #2 to see how my blood flow will be this month because unlike the other pills, I can say I had a longer period than the typical 3-4 days. My period last month was a good 7-10 days. I am hoping this month will be lighter and my typical 3-4 days :)"

"HORRIBLE! If you are used to taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, this is not a substitute! I've had crazy mood swings, depression, fatigue, bleeding, nausea day and waking me up at night, and to make it worse I've broken out worse than I have been in years. Almost worse than I had in middle school, and I'm 31. Stay away!"

"I am a 35 yr. old mom of 2. My Dr. put me on this to help with severe period cramps and possible endometriosis diagnosis. I've only been on birth control prior to my kids (husband is fixed now) who are now 9 and 11. Been on this for one month and I've gained 6 lbs! Mind you, I am normally very active (I teach cycle class 5 days a week) and eat healthy, but this weight gain is crazy! Also, I have had weird tingling feelings and have been super unmotivated to do anything! I thought I had a weird flu because I could not figure out where all my energy went?! Stopping immediately, hopefully, I'll find better relief with another pill. Thanks for all the reviews! I know everyone reacts differently, but it's comforting to know I'm not alone."

"I've been on this for two years now, and I never really understood why I was so grouchy all the time. If someone did something wrong, my mood would change so quickly. I still am taking it, but I will be going to the doctor to get switched."

"Please listen to these reviews! The worst BC pill ever. I'm 18 and was getting terrible migraines, so my doctor prescribed this pill in order to help with them. The pill did help with them, but that is about the extent to which these pills did something good for me. The first 2 months of taking these pills, I experienced nausea EVERY morning. I also started experiencing actual panic attacks, which I had never had before. The first 3 months, I didn't experience weight gain, so I thought I lucked out, but nope. In about 3 weeks, I gained over 8 lbs without a change in my diet or lifestyle. For the past month, I have been eating healthier and exercising to try and shed the lbs, but nothing seems to work. I am also bloated all of the time. My anxiety and depression have been crazy lately, and I just do not feel like myself. Tomorrow is my last day on this pill, and I could not be happier. Please do not take this pill."

"I took Estarylla for roughly 3 weeks. It was miserable. I experienced bad hair loss, limp and lifeless dried-out hair (nothing changed in my hair care but this pill), greasy skin/cystic acne, severe diarrhea, headaches, insomnia, yeast infection, brain fog/forgetfulness, my personality changed to be constantly grouchy/severely depressed/aggressive/full of rage. I was uncomfortably bloated and felt the immense urge to eat everything around me. I was a train wreck. I couldn't even finish the pack, I have to work full-time, and the way it made me feel hindered that from happening. (I missed work several times because of how awful I felt.) It affects everybody differently, so take that into consideration. I have a history of being intolerant to hormonal birth control pills, and I also have a history of anxiety and depression."

"Walgreens switched me to Estarylla after being on Mononessa for a year and other birth control pills before that. I took Estarylla for one month and have never experienced so many negative side effects. During the second and third week of taking Estarylla, I was so bloated that my pants were uncomfortable. I honestly felt and looked pregnant. I also had horrible indigestion and was not myself. I didn't want to talk to anyone and was not motivated to do my schoolwork whatsoever. My period came on time, but I was miserable 2.5 of the 4 weeks on Estarylla. While everyone's bodies are different, mine did not agree with the inactive ingredients, which is why my doctor requested I never get the generic brand again. Just know that you're not alone if you're dealing with side effects you've never dealt with before on this generic brand."

"I've been on this birth control for about three or four months now. My doctor prescribed it because I was getting to the point where I was sexually active frequently and she said this one was good, and it is! For pregnancy prevention, at least. But it has a few downsides. This medication makes me very prone to panic attacks, mood swings, and depressed states. When I start a new pack, I always get a little nauseous, and I bloat easily. It's very on and off for period regulation. Sometimes I'm light, sometimes heavy, sometimes no period at all. That being said, my acne is gone, and I'm not pregnant, and my cramping is minimal. Does its job, but not for everybody."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. I was on Mononessa for years and loved it until the pharmacy switched it to this garbage. At first, it was typical, but by the 3rd week my health flipped. My anxiety and depression got so bad, I was feeling nauseous and lightheaded all day. I had so much trouble breathing, had low self-esteem and was overthinking everything and couldn’t handle stress. I was exhausted all the time but would wake up constantly with chills, and my heart was racing nonstop. I finally realized the only thing that’s different was this stupid pill, so I quit taking it, but not before my doctor informed me I now have an overactive thyroid that was likely brought on by this. For mental and physical health, don’t accept this pill."

"The WORST! I was switched to after years of being on Mononessa. Mononessa gave me no issues. I have never had depression before, and over the last year, I have been depressed, and one time I had suicidal thoughts. I get irate at small things, like a coworker not refilling the hand soap, or I would start crying when the person driving in front of me took too long to turn. I have always been a happy person, and I never felt like myself when I was taking this pill. I am chronically fatigued all day, every day. I can sleep 8 hours and still not want to get up. I started having to take naps daily because otherwise, I can't even handle a small task, like the dishes. Gained a few pounds, and even with exercising 5 days a week and eating healthy, I couldn't lose weight. I am a bubbly, active individual... not on this. I wasted over a year of my life, feeling crappy about myself and crying because of this pill. This pill has tormented me. My sex drive was weak. I hope no one else has to experience any of this."

"This pill actually made me depressed, anxious, and nauseous to the point where I couldn't function. I took it for two years when I was first prescribed it because I never actually associated the symptoms with the pill until one day I brought up how I was nauseous all the time to my doctor, and she recommended I switch pills. Once I got off this pill, I immediately felt happier and less anxious. It did prevent pregnancy, but literally, whenever I would take even the tiniest drink of any kind of alcohol, I'd be nauseous for the rest of the night. I recently took this pill again for a few days, and these symptoms immediately returned. Never touching it again."
