"Started and for two months I am very conscious of the placebo affect and not pysching myself out. But I have noticed I get bad acne now, I get very upset and very sad sporadically which is not normal of me, I get angry also for periods and my hair is much thinner. I can’t feel much bloating but perhaps I haven’t paid close enough attention to that. My weight has remained the same. My periods are just dark blood not incredibly painful at all very “normal” Only real noticeable complaint is truly the acne which I never get and the minor mood swings. I’ll give it a longer shot and will update"

"I posted a review Feb20 on here. Update: I am considering switching to another pill. After 4 months, I started feeling really dizzy/nauseous randomly throughout the day. To say the least, this exacerbated my anxiety to the max. I haven’t had a decent night’s sleep in a long time because of the anxiety. I feel really dizzy all the time and my neck feels tense. I was having a good experience with this pill until the past two months. Anxiety is wild y’all."

"This is my first time on birth control and it has been THE WORST experience of my life. Month one was fine, I had nausea and threw up some but nothing over bearing. Now I'm at the end of month two and I'm completely over this pill! I have nausea everyday, I feel like I have to throw up all the time, I got my first ever yeast infection, I have had extreme bloating for days at a time, and also I am experiencing pain while having sex. After sex I’m in so much pain I just want to cry and it could’ve only been 5 minutes. DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. I thought it was all in my head but I’m so glad I’m not the only one whose experienced these things. Also my mental health has been messed up. My fiancé even said I’ve been moody and filled with anxiety, avoid this method and try something else. Only gave this a 1 because I’m not pregnant."

"Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience either. I had to change from Orysthia to Vienva and honestly both gave me bad side effects. I had monthly horrible migraines, horrible bloating and stomach pains and I've also started not being able to sleep well and would have dreams that I actually yell out when I used to never do that. I've gotten randomly depressed since taking any general birth control and would break down crying for no reason and wanted life to end. I thought it was some personal problem but after reading many of these other reviews, I see that I'm not the only one."

"Do NOT take this birth control. I have been on Orsythia for about two years. My insurance company switched me to Vienva without notifying me. I figured I'd just try it out to see how it worked out so I wouldn't have to keep reminding my pharmacy to give me Orsythia rather than Vienna. Anyway, I've only been on this medication for 4 days and have already contacted the pharmacy about paying out of pocket to get my Orsythia pack back. In only 4 days I am a completely different person. I've gone through a roller coaster of emotions from anxiety, to anger, to just sobbing for no reason. Also I've come very close to vomiting because anything other than carbs has made my stomach terribly upset. I will never take this medication ever again."

"Run far away from this pill! I was also switched from Orysthia (which did wonders for me) to Vienva without being notified. I figured also since it had the same active ingredients I would be fine wrong! The past week has been nothing but a nightmare! My moods have been so up and down! Feeling depressed I lashed out on one of my best friends for no reason! Please don't take this! I'm calling my pharmacy right now to see if I could get back on Orysthia!"

"I decided to switch birth controls because my other one still gave me period cramps. The pill club switched me to Vienva and let me just say I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy. This birth control has caused me to become extremely depressed and every day I will burst into tears at least once over nothing which I never ever did on any other birth control. It’s starting to really affect my daily life and I find myself not wanting to get out of bed because I lack the energy and motivation to. I will be switching back as soon as I can. Don’t take this unless it’s strongly recommended by a doctor, there’s a reason that more than half the people that take this have a bad experience with it."

"Let's start off by saying this has prevented pregnancy. BUT, my anxiety, depression, acne, and weight gain have sky-rocketed. Every time I think my acne is gone it comes right back, and I'm 21 years old. I get anxiety just by eating in front of someone because I over-think how I'm eating. I've gained almost 15 pounds just from being on this (NONE of it being in my blogs). I have also noticed a plummeted sex drive and less "lubrication" than before. My motivation to do things I used to love doing all the time now only comes in waves. I've also experienced random breakthrough bleeding which freaked me out. UUGGHHH I have to take 5 more months of this rubbish before I switch to Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I'm very upset."

"At first everything was fine, but then I realized I was even more anxious than usual (I have an anxiety disorder already) and then I was bloated. I can't fit into any of my jeans. Then, my period when it did come was super heavy. Blood clot heavy. I have aches and pains. I never have periods like this. I feel like utter crap. I'm stopping this med even though it's been a month or two. Back to my old birth control."

"Soo I started taking Vienva some months back and experienced some of the side effects mentioned in the reviews like an irregular cycle, but the side effect that stuck out the most was ANXIETY. Severe anxiety and night sweats. I’m already an over thinker so this destroyed me. I got off of it and started taking another BC, felt fine and started thinking more clearly. Because I received Vienva through the pill club, I had extra packs. Long story short, I ran out of my other BC and couldn’t get my new prescription due to the pharmacy being closed on the weekend and a holiday fell on the Monday after the weekend so I started taking Vienva again. Worst mistake ever. My anxiety is back through the roof, very emotional, can’t stay off of google trying to self diagnose my sore throat for everything under the sun except allergies. I can’t sleep due to the constant anxiety, and I honestly would not recommend this to my worse enemy."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION. I recently switched to this pill after my period got off track from my last pill. 3 weeks into taking it, I started getting EXTREME anxiety. Something I’d never experienced before. It cause issues in my relationship because I was trying to hide them. I thought I was going crazy and couldn’t hide them anymore. I was crying all the time for no reason, feeling scared, and nervous. It wasn’t until my friends told me to research the new pill that I realized I wasn’t just randomly going crazy. Lots of people experience the same feelings. I don’t wish this level of anxiety on anyone. I’m stopping the pill and hoping it doesn’t take long to return to normal."

"My experience has not been really bad. I have been on it for three months. I was previously on the Xulan BC patch, so I decided to switch because in the summer I like to wear tops with strips or a tube top. In the first two days, I had a bad headache, but I decided to continue taking it to see if it would pass. I said I can deal with it by taking some pain relief, and I don't have headaches like that anymore. After the pack of active pills was gone, I went to my second pack, and the same with the third. A few days before Christmas, I spotted for a little bit and it stopped. I thought I might be pregnant, so I took two tests and they came out negative. But overall, I like the pill so far. I haven't had any bad side effects except for the headache in the first two days. My hair has not fallen or changed texture, my skin is the same, I don't have any bad aching, I don't know about period cramps or periods. I will find out in a few days. I also haven't experienced nausea, breast tenderness, or heaviness that would make me think I may be pregnant and causing a false negative result."

"This was my first birth control experience, I’m 40 and just wanted a low dose BC that would help with ovulation and PMS symptoms. I lasted 10 days. Although it did keep me from experiencing another ovarian cyst during ovulation, I had horrible migraines from day 3, numbness in the left side of my face, immediate weight gain (5lbs in a week) and a bit of night time anxiety. My doctor switched me today and I’ll start the mini pill tonight. If you struggle with anxiety, headaches or are sensitive to estrogen this pill may not be a good fit."

"DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL! Gave me horrible mood swings, constantly crying, and I began to hate my body. I am usually very confident and love my body, but I gained weight and feel bloated all the time. Not a good experience at all."

"I didn’t have any issues with this birth control. It was the first one I was put on so I don’t have many to compare it to, but overall I never had an issue with it. It made my periods a lot shorter and lighter (from 7 days and extreme pain to 4 days and moderate pain.) I did gain a bit of weight and it didn’t help with my acne too much, but I was mostly looking for something to help my periods which it did. I just recently switched due to manufacturing issues but hopefully it comes back!"

"I'm only going on 2 months on Vienva and I'm done after this. It does it's job of preventing pregnancy, sure, but the side effects are a killer! It increased my anxiety substantially which is a problem as I already have GAD and panic disorder. My appetite swung from constantly starving to not wanting to eat a crumb. The abdominal cramping I get is severe, even worse then the cramps I got PMS-ing every month before I took this medication. And, isn't birth control supposed to help relieve PMS symptoms? It certainly does not do that for me. It makes them 10 times worse. This is just my final straw here and I will be stopping this medication."

"Vienva was the first form of birth control I have ever taken and I honestly loved it. It gave me minimal side affects, just a little bit of weight gain and very tiny breakouts around my chin, nothing too bad. Overall I've been having unprotected sex since the second week I was on it and never had a pregnancy scare!"

"I've been taking Vienva for almost a year now. It's the first birth control I have tried and luckily have not had any awful side effects. I totally understand it not working for other people though. I love that I can take it to skip my periods. The breakthrough bleeding every few months hasn't been so bad either."

"I took this medicine to help ease some of my menstrual pain and make my periods more regular. It has cut my menstrual pains and cramps down to about 10% of what they were, and I can CHOOSE when to get my period or not to get it at all. How awesome is that? I have experienced zero negative side effects. My quality of life has improved so much."

"I have been on Vienva for almost two years. I have had a good experience. It has given me the least emotional side effects of any hormonal birth control I have taken. We almost always use condoms so I can’t attest to the complete effectiveness of it preventing pregnancy, but I haven’t gotten pregnant on it. I think birth control is a lot of testing out what works for you. This drug has been great for me, as someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, because of the low amounts it gives of hormones. With the two pills I have taken of birth control, it usually takes about a month or two to get over some of the emotional effects of birth control."

"I’ve been on Vienva for exactly a month now and I am definitely switching. I have a Dr. appointment tomorrow already. This pill has made my migraines 10x worse. The migraines will last anywhere from 24-36 hrs straight along with nausea, tiredness, dizziness, throbbing head pain, and mild mood swings. I had awful cramps within the first week of taking it and my period lasted 15 days. This pill is just awful. I will never take Vienva again."

"Okay, so I’ve been on the pill for about 6 months. I don’t know if it’s breakthrough bleeding but ever since the week BEFORE Christmas... I am STILL on my period, at first it was light but ever since then, I’ve had my light period but it’s heavy at the same time, it’s uncomfortable because it’s now February and I still have my period and I feel like it’s gotten heavier. I never has any side effects, I mean lately my mood had been different, but I think it’s because I’ve started drinking water, I’ve been working out more and lately I have been stressed, so I think it’s just a MIXTURE of a lot of subjects because. When I first started, I was doing fine, no cramps at all, light bleeding WHEN I got my period, no headaches. When I started my pill I do remember being at work and feeling very very nausea, but that was a random day, then it stopped. I knew it was because the pill. Best part is no cramps."

"I started this birth control 3 months ago. Apart from migraines here and there and some discomfort with sexual intercourse at times, this birth control has done wonders for me! I don’t have any nausea or vomiting plus my period cramps have vanished which is great. I was terrified of the previous reviews but it all depends on the person. I am 20 and this is my first time ever on birth control so I’m amazed!"

"This birth control pill ruined my life. I was taking Alesse then was prescribed Vienva once I moved countries and being told it’s the US “equivalent” to Alesse. I had no problems with Alesse besides minor mood shifts and a total weight gain of 1-2 lbs which is fine and I was able to sustainably use Alesse for years. Comparing that to being on Vienva for 3 months was a completely different story... I gained 15-17 lbs within a little over a month, and I am a petite 125lb woman. In addition, I lost all my sexual libido, was irritable and depressed, had massive mood swings constantly, and I lost interest in the gym, work, and all general home personal life. My self confidence had been shattered. I have since refused to take any more pills or refills of my prescription for Vienva and will never endorse that brand. It has been 9 months since I have been off the medication and I am still struggling to lose all the weight I have gained from this dreaded pill."

"This is the worst birth control I've ever taken. I had the worst break through bleeding and I gained a few pounds while only on a few weeks. I also felt really bloated the whole time and felt really insecure about my body the whole time. I'm switching back to the birth control I was on before this."
